I woke up in the morning staggered out of bed, stumbled to the restroom and turned on the shower as I wiped the dust from my eyes. Gave a good long yawn and looked at myself in the mirror, boy I was looking rough today. I reached my hand into the shower to check the temperature, still cold. So I swaggered my way into the kitchen opened the cabinet took put the coffee filter put it and some coffee into the coffeemaker. I made my way back to the restroom felt the water expecting mildly temperate water, still ice cold. I was perplexed I turned the hot water all the way up, tapped my foot impatiently, getting GRUMPY, I let out a little growl, GRRRR. Waited a 10 seconds, 20 seconds a minute more, what is going on I exclaimed?!? I turned on the faucet, no hot water either. Went to the other bathroom turned on the water in that shower, still cold. Now I am awake grumpy, dirty, groggy, perplexed, angry, anxious, whiny. I walked out to the garage and put me bare feet on the concrete and heard water. Expletive, expletive, expletive. There was water coming out from underneath the door where my water heater is, I knew something was wrong. I had never seen it do this before. I opened the door and it was making a noise like a toilet trying to refill. I went inside and called work and let them know I would be late. I Googled for a water heater repair company in Phoenix and I found Proskill Plumbing. I explained to them the situation and told them I needed it fixed as soon as possible. They informed me they had one other stop to make and then they could be at my house. I went ahead and told them to come out. They arrived about an hour and a half later and I was not in the best of moods and kind of short with them. They told me they could fix it but if they just replace the part my water heater is so old that it might happen again I opted to get a new water heater. They went and picked up the water heater and told me it would be about 2 hours before they were able to be back and have it installed. I was ok with that. I called in to work to let them know I couldn't come in. They were back and had it done when they said they would. I had to wait another 45 minutes before the water got hot after they installed the new water heater. I finally went to the restroom turned on the water waited about 30 seconds and BAM! Hot water at last. I enjoyed a super long 50 minute shower and just basked in the warm water. After that I got out and enjoyed my unscheduled day off by taking myself out to lunch at Portlands Restaurant and Wine bar which was excellent by the way. Rich and Joe saved us a lot of money and downtime by rebuilding an original Sylvania dual meter box for a duplex built in 1985. The total cost was under $1k and it took about 90 minutes, which was great because this was done in August. They scheduled us for early AM so our elderly pets didn't have to be relocated due to no A/C. I'm formally educated in electro-mechanical engineering and have done server room and A/V installs but needed a licensed electrician for this work. They took care of permits and coordinated with SRP. They displayed good attention to detail and I have full confidence in the work they performed as I watched every minute of it. I called a dozen electricians and they either just wanted to replace the entire meter box at 3-5x more or didn't want to do business with someone that knows their volts, amps & watts. ProSkill was the only one I found willing to source the parts for this old meter base. If you have an old meter base such as a Zinsco, GTE, Sylvania, Kearney Electric or similar, give these guys a ring before you let someone rip you for $3-5k to replace the entire thing. (Note that multi-unit meter boxes are more than single family residence and these parts may take time to order, so get it inspected before it blows up!) There's a good chance it might be some relatively easy to replace parts and you might also save yourself needing to do stucco work around a new box. We have used Pro-Skill plumbing over the years. Abby and Tyler are neighbors of ours and have always been helpful on the neighborhood Facebook page helping out neighbors and what not. We had to have our kitchen faucet changed out the other day and our technician Israel was very friendly. He offered to put the booties showing respect for our home. He was on time and did a nice job installing our faucet and cleaning up after himself. The job took about 2 hours and they charged about $125.00 which I thought was pretty fair. I would definitely recommend Proskill. We had also had them install a GE water softener that we had already purchased from Home Depot in our rental property. The technician Matt that did the install was trying to sell us their water softener and was a little pushy and I had to tell him no three or four times. We had already purchased and had the GE water softener delivered from Home Depot and didn't want to return it. The GE unit was also an all-in-one unit which saves a little space over the softerner with the separate brine tank. Matt did a good job of promoting his product, describing its features, and was very professional though. The funny thing was though the GE softener ended up being damaged and I probably would have been better off going with his unit. After it was installed I ended up having to call a GE service technician to come out and do a repair on the softener. read more

I had a leak on the line coming off my water main though it wasn't but a trickle it was an issue we were dreading to have fixed. A leak detection company came out and said we can't figure out where the leak is so we can start digging and see if we can find it. They were telling me it would take awhile and would cost me maybe $1500 or higher.... I passed. I let the leak continue but it was getting worse so I called Pro-Skills to see if they could find the leak and get this fixed. In calling the office they told me someone would come by later today at four to look at it to see what could be done. Well not 30 minutes later I got a text that they were on their way almost an hour early (Amazing!) Mike gets there and tells me he can see where the leak is just by looking at it and said he would dig there as it shouldn't be very far down. Not 15 minutes later he finds the leak and tells me what he is going to do and then proceeds to fix the leak which was just a cracked coupling. Jumping to the end, it took him not quite two hours to find and fix the leak and put my yard back to normal with no pooling water. As for what it cost me, well that was a shocker it was only around $600 not thousands as the other company told me it would be. We've lived in Peoria, AZ for three years and have used ProSkill for those things that need attention every now and then. Last year we had ProSkill install two new Kohler Cimarron toilets to replace two that were too low to the floor and were giving us some other problems due to the previous owner's lack of attention to the water softener. All went well, great install, checked our third toilet, which we thought might be on its last legs but a minor repair saved it and saved us some money. Recently, the last couple of months, one of the new toilets seats developed a problem. When you lowered the lid, the top would fall off. It looked like a simple repair, so we took care of it and took care of it and... Finally, on August 16th we called ProSkill and told them of our problem. Immediately we were told that the toilet was under warranty, so don't worry, it will be taken care of. On the 17th the ProSkill tech, Daniel called and said he had an opening and could arrive early if that was OK. When Daniel arrived, he attempted to fix the seat but when he saw that it was beyond repair, he replaced it, emphasizing that it would be at no cost to us. As usual, the ProSkill tech and all the other people we dealt with on this and other items for our home were courteous, professional and proficient. In August 2020 ProSkill sent Tyler E. to give us a quote on a complete new A.C. and Heating system for our house in Surprise. Tyler was knowledgeable, gave us a couple of recommendations and answered all of my questions. We had other A.C. companies give us quotes also. All the companies were basically in the same ballpark with pricing. The big difference to me was that Tyler called me back and asked if he could answer any more questions that I had. None of the other companies called me, never heard back from any of them. We waited till November when Tyler requoted us a price. We signed the contract on November 19th and on November 23rd Dave and Hunter came out and installed the complete unit in less then a day. Having owned an air conditioning company in the past my expectations could not be higher. Pro Skill has not only met but exceeded them on all levels. Their timelines is spot on. To date they have never been late to an appointment at my house. Their prices are perfectly in line with what's reasonable for a company of their size. If anything, they are a little inexpensive. They just completed swapping out 3 units at my house with new Trane 16 seer units and they were $7,000 less then the other highly reputable/reviewed company I had provide me with a quote. Where they really win you over is the level of service and quality of work provided. All work they have performed for me has been top notch. All copper lines ran are perfectly level and have nice clean bends in them. They insulate wrap everything and clean up after themselves to the point it feels like they were never there. If you are on the fence about hiring them I'd have you consider this. I hired them over the HVAC company I used to own (who is highly reviewed on yelp and Angie's list and still in business). I can't say for certain that they are the best in the valley as I haven't tried all of them, but I can say that they are the best in the north valley and would compete with any company out there. read more

Pro Skills was recommended to me by Extreme Energy Solutions who performed an energy audit and did subsequent work for me. For 2 1/2 years I have had four different techs with 3 different companies service my HVAC unit. Despite my continual complaint about lack of airflow upstairs and extreme dust, none of the techs had a clue about the problem. I advised Pro Skill that I wanted a top technician to do a check up for me. Keith is the best tech I have ever had by far. He spent a long time determining what was causing the problem and ultimately fixing the issue which most critically was a defective damper control which was inhibiting airflow to the upstairs and causing short cycling of the condenser control contactor. He was pleasant and patient in explaining everything in detail, and suggested installing professional grade filters (to last a minimum of one year) to control the unusual Arizona dust. We have never had better customer service in our life. They have helped me on several issues over the last two years. I don't even know how to start my pilot light to get the hot water heater going. The same thing for my pilot on my fireplace. They came out started the hot water heater and did not even charge me a penny. No service charge. What great service. Then I had my bathroom remodeled by a contractor. I ran into some plumbing problems specifically it took for ever to get the hot water to the bathroom shower. Travis had a solution for me by getting a special pump. We also had a problem with a value in the shower that was installed by the contracters plumber. Once again Travis came out and determine the problem and found a solution. He got nothing for this because we had our contractor fix the problem but once again it was not about money it was about customer service. Also his pricing is excellent and they are so efficient. Our A/C went out when it was in the 100's, I called George Brazil to come out figuring they are larger and have less overhead. Their service was horrible, he kept telling me he had 5 more appts. that day and I needed to hurry and make some decisions on the new unit to purchase.... The service with them was sub par. Proskill just happened to be tuning up my next door neighbors A/C on the same day and I went over to see if they could come look and give me a price for a new unit. My neighbor highly recommended them as he knew them personally. G.Brazil gave me a price for a 16 seer York for almost $10,000, the same seer unit except a Trane brand was thousands cheaper. We have a home warranty company that has done nothing but disappoint us. Proskill has stepped in time and time again to fix our air conditioning problems. We use proskill for our RO, plumbing and AC units. After having to wait a couple days and suffer in the heat, the warranty company sent sub par contractors who in fact damaged our AC even further by installing impromper parts. Proskill has been out several times in the last few weeks making up for other's mistakes. They have appointment availability on the same day and always show up as scheduled on time, unlike others who either came hours late or just plain didn't show up at all. First we received a text stating that he was on the way, never have I had notice from any other company. Second very professional when greeting he arrived and he and his helper put on boot covers to protect our floors, listed to our issue with our AC unit. Went to get his ladder and tools... Jake know how to handle a ladder in a home never hit a wall or wood work. I have had bad experiences and damage the past. Third explained the issue clearly and concisely. Our water heater failed on Sunday and I called dispatch and they arranged for someone to be out early Monday afternoon. Tim T. was out about an hour earlier than scheduled ready to install a new tank for our water heater. We spent probably 30 minutes with him where he explained the benefits of tankless v. our tank system. He offered prices for both systems and based on his comments and my own research, we chose tankless. No pressure from him to choose and even said that we could wait a day or so with no issues. Tim and helper Holden were out first thing this morning (Wednesday) to install our new tankless system. They were both very professional and completed the job almost exactly at the time they promised. Tim will be back within a week or so for their Quality Control check to make sure that everything is work properly and to our liking. I have used Proskill for various plumbing & HVAC jobs and always have been impressed by their expertise and courtesy. Recently they have branched into doing electrical, absorbing another local Anthem electrical business. I decided to get a quote form Proskill on some needed electrical work and the gentleman, Robert, that came by was Proskill professional, and used to work for the other company that was absorbed by Proskill. No cute booties and he mentioned a service charge, so i guess they do not advertise as being no service charge anymore & that is the only reason they did not get the best score I could give them. Everybody that uses them, including me, thinks they are great. Just hope they do not get so big they forget how they started. Price for the main job seemed fair but some other minor quotes seemed a bit high for being simple DIY things like changing a light switch out & replacing a ceiling fan. Yes I saw their ad on what a DIY guy can do to mess things up but some things are just not rocket science. read more

The two AC units on my home were 17 year old basic models installed by the builder and it was only a matter of time before one or both required major service. He came up with a plan and explained it, and then followed up with a quote for the work that was more detailed than any other bid I received. I was given options as to SEER and quality ratings i wanted in selection of the units. We decided to replace 2 electric cooling units and 2 gas furnace heating units. The crew came to the house on time, were pleasant, task oriented and answered all our questions with patience. They cleaned up the work site well. 2 weeks after the job, the quality control person -Keith- came out and spent almost 2 hours going over all the work that was done, adjusted one blower speed, and again, answered all our questions. For a final wrap-up, Scott came out again, delivered paperwork that had been requested and the completed rebate forms for the energy savings allowed. Another great day with ProSkill. on 04/24/017 I had a tune up on my HVAC and rec'd estimate of recommended repairs $800-900 or new one $7500-8000. I opted for repairs. 04/27/17 Joe M. returned and performed the repairs at cost of $736. which included a 5% discount on repairs. Why the discount??..., because I signed up for the HVAC 2x a year service contract at $118 annually. Plus they returned my 04/24/17 $59 tune up ck and incorporated that as my 1st service visit. The svc contract gives me 5% discount on repairs, no diagnostic fees, 1% per year loyalty discount on purchase toward new systems, ladder service: so if they come to my house for anything and they have a ladder, they will i.e. change a light bulb, install my filters, get a stranded cat from a tree (just kidding), priority booking, reduced after hrs fees, and best of all....they email and phone me for my service reminder.
