I was looking for a place to get a new AC/Heater. One place promised great prices and tons of savings. They sent a man out who promised thousands in savings and then quoted outrageous prices after his supposed savings. I was referred to David Clark, the owner of Clark Heating & Cooling. He himself came out and provided a bid for the right sized unit needed for my house. He gave three bids for me. One was for if I wanted to change my old, large ducts for a modern smaller one for better air flow and my AC Unit along with an extra vent. One for the AC and the extra vent. And One just for the AC. I picked the middle option and a few days later it was installed and done. The total cost was $5,000 less than the lowest bid from the competitor. Ever since then (two years ago) they have given me top notch care. I called the number I thought was the office and David answered. I found out he gave me his personal Cell. I felt bad because it was late at night on a Saturday. He was perfectly fine and he stated he would get this problem resolved on Monday. He kept his word. I want to start off by saying that I am disappointed, Clark has taken care of my mother in the past but I think it was the tech not the company, her AC froze up and they found out that the parts were under manufacturers warranty and only charged labor, that is the reason I called them to my house. They came out (99.00) and during the inspection they determined my blower motor was bad and needed to be replaced. They quoted me 1209.00 plus the 99.00 to do the repair with an aftermarket universal part. I looked up the prices for these devices and I was not happy at the amount of labor/parts cost. But either way I declined service at this time (tech was polite and not unprofessional) I started calling around and quickly realized they were 25%-40% higher for the blower motor, but this is where the story takes a turn. I had a different guy come out who has been in the business for over 30 years. Upon inspection, he determined the motor was not bad only had a bad wire.(showed me the wire) So he fixed that in seconds. However when he had taken it out, the "squirrel cage" was bad and there was mold in it, I could see it, he wasn't lying. Total cost for the repair was under 500.00. Not only did clark charge me 99.00 they did not do their due diligence on my product and completely misdiagnosed the issue, so if I would have okayed the repair, they would have come back and channeled their inner Billy Mays "but wait there's more" Turns out there is some mold and the squirrel cage is also bad, I dread what they would have charged for that considering they were already higher than several companies by so much for the blower motor. Overall, Clark could have had a customer for life who tends to refer more people to service companies than most due to my experience in the garage door industry. Now they not only lost a customer forever, I will forever tell people to NOT use them. Not sure if it was due to the tech that came out or their policies forcing their techs to do certain things. But I can say you guys really dropped the ball. I wish everyone luck when choosing an HVAC company. read more

CHC replaced my home AC system on 21Jun2024 (117F and muggy!). My old system was a high performing 19 yr old American Standard product where the compressor died of old age. My new system is same as my old system except a York product. It is a 5 ton split system with gas furnace / air blower / controller and evaporator heat exchanger, located in a central closet inside the house, and condenser heat exchanger / 3 phase compressor, located in a cabinet on the ground outside. It took two technicians Gabe, and Robert, 8 hrs to remove the previous equipment, install the new equipment, adjust controls/fluids and clean the jobsite. Everything but the house mounted control wires and refrigerant lines was replaced. The new system seems reliable and performs very well. The workspace in the central closet was very challenging requiring CHC to carefully plan and execute the disassembly/removal of the old equipment and assembly/installation of the new equipment. I was very pleased they completed all the work in one day at a price under $10k. There were no unexpected costs or changes and CHC disposed of all the old equipment and related trash. I was grateful to have found Clark Heating and Cooling in July of 2021 when my Rheem (2009) AC stopped working. Had had it check 3 weeks earlier by my home warranty service. Michelle was wonderful, Gabe was great and fixed the problem but then a few days later, it stopped again and Dave had to replace the blower on a hot, hot day. He also replaced the return grill. In Feb., 2022, I researched getting a new AC unit and called Clark because they had been so helpful. They only sell York which was ok since I had previously owned a York. The unit was installed in March, 2022. So happy to have this done and not worry about summer month AC problems. I wasn't happy with the digital thermostat because it lit up the hallway at night so Dave replaced it with "simpler" style but there are not 2 small holes in the wall that need to be filled and repainted. I was concerned about the unit's hard "start" and the lights flickering but Michelle assured me that that was normal. I had an AC "tune up" in June, ('23) and Tomas said that everything was "perfect". On July 2nd, '23, the AC stopped. I was ill and limped down the hallway and looked at the thermostat in disbelief as the temperature went up an up. I called Clark. Ivan said they could come on July 3rd but not earlier or it would cost $300 for emergency service. Suffered through the night, misting the animals with water. Ivan and Tomas were punctual (July 3rd) and replaced a capacitor, which thankfully, was under warranty. I had only purchased this unit 15 months earlier. On Oct. 31st, 2023 I turned on the heat but, nope, didn't work. Elijah came out and replaced a blower motor ($459). Again, under warranty but $55 for each service call. 2 calls in 4 months on 18 month old unit. I was surprised when an employee from Clarks office called at 6:15 on a Friday evening, asking me to write a google review and called again in the evening on Jan. 26th asking if I wanted to set up a spring maintenance check- up. The employees at Clark Heating and Cooling are prompt, professional and courteous. I appreciate them. The issue for me, is the actual York AC unit. I don't recall having issues with a pretty new AC unit and have NEVER had any heating issues. I don't like having the "York" logo posted on the unit as an advertisement when I am losing faith in the brand. In addition, the grill cover that I purchased 2 years ago, seems flimsy, and the open/shut tabs are getting bent. I am hoping that they don't break off. On Dec. 2, '23, the power went off in the house at 12 am. - no lights, no heat, nothing, although the neighbors' lights were on. I thought it had something to do with the AC unit, but when I checked the breaker box in the morning the power to the whole house was switched off. I talked to Michelle about it, and she said that it wasn't the AC, that someone had probably turned it off, and I should probably put a lock on the breaker box, which I (sadly) is what I did. read more

Our upstairs a/c stopped blowing cold air. On a 109 degree day. Sunday afternoon. We have a brand new unit under warranty and the company that installed the system doesn't work on weekends. In the past, with our old units, we used a myriad of companies but none of them "stuck" with us. They did an ok job, prices were pretty steep. It was time to find a new company Cue Clark. Professional and courteous on the phone, text schedule updates, the tech called when he was 30 minutes out. The tech, Sam, was super duper nice. He is the Mary Poppins of service techs. Turns out the ductwork in the attic had fallen off the handler. Great. So he repaired it, checked our fluid levels and with our consent balanced the refrigerant. I say this to emphasize how impressed my wife and I were with the service we received that we immediately wrote this review. We called Clark mid-afternoon yesterday. I had some questions which the person on the line, Amy, thought would best be answered by David. David called me within 5 minutes and answered all my questions. Gabe showed up on time today and quickly spotted our problem and fixed it. He pointed out we didn't have an automatic shut-off valve just in case our drain line clogged in our air handler. This had happened at our previous house and caused some damage to the floor and ceiling as the unit was in the attic. He didn't try to force us to do the work but explained the advantage of doing so. Gabe also found a small leak in the drain pipe and fixed that. The price of the work done was fair. It was nice having a technician not having to call a supervisor for instructions. I was referred over to Clark Heating and Cooling from a coworker after our air conditioner went out in the middle of that brutal heat wave back in July. Doing our due diligence we made sure to collect quotes from multiple companies before replacing, despite the urgency of the situation. Bid 1: flat swap out of unit. Cheapest possible unit, and not addressing the massive hot spot issues we were seeing before the breakdown. Bid 2: unit swap out, minor duct work repair (had to be put off for 6 months due to the heat), blowing in insulation, and installing a smaller ac unit to avoid doing the duct work sooner. Bid 3: Clark Heating and Cooling. David spent SO MUCH time in my attic digging around, figuring out why someone threw an undersized commercial unit on my home 20+ years ago. He knew that in order to get my house cooling PROPERLY, it was going to require the work be done and it wouldn't be able to wait until December to do it. Once we committed to Clark Heating and Cooling, David was awesome enough to drop us off a portable air conditioner so we could survive the brutal heat wave while we waited for our turn to get a new unit. This is the best HVAC company in Phoenix hands down. I had my entire HVAC system replaced and they are extremely competitive on pricing. You probably won't find a better price. They use York systems which are excellent and give you upgraded color wi-fi thermostats to control your system via phones. It took two days to install two large 5 ton compressor system for my two story house, but they cleaned up everything each day. Talked to the owner (Dave) several months ago about replacing our aging AC. Dave was knowledgeable and we felt was very thorough, inspecting every inch of the existing ducts. We decided to use the existing system for another season before swapping it. In the middle of the summer heat on August 27th (was a very hot day), all of sudden, the old AC's condenser would not start the compressor. Was making a humming noise. I figured likely a startup capacitor or contactor issue. We called Clark Cooling. Michelle got someone dispatched right the way. Within couple of hours, the cap was replaced and the old and tired unit was running again. Hopefully will make it to December and we'll have Dave to replace it then. He found that the blower motor and control board combo were faulty. They contacted the manufacturer and found that my unit had 4 months left on a 5 year warranty. My ac stopped blowing air into the house last night but I could hear the unit running on the roof. Searched on yelp for good services, saw Clark within .6 miles from me and 5 star service. Called him and he was at my house within 15 minutes! Very friendly and went right to work, came back down after 20 minutes or so; explained my control board is fried would be $400 repair to fix cooling/heating. I was concerned with the unexpected bill, so he said he could bypass it to allow the cooling to work but the heating won't work, so I'll need to get it fixed before winter. He bypassed it, wrote me a receipt and gave me his business card and magnet to replace the board when I can afford it. I payed $85 to fix my ac today, a regular service check is $55 but if he does any repair that's free, and you just get charged for the repair. I live alone and have no clue about ac units, so he answered all my questions and explained to me the problem and how a unit should work. Was very patient and understanding. Two days ago, they sent their tech out to check out my unit to make sure they got the right parts - even had the tech come back out that night because he wanted to double check what he wrote down. One Day ago, they sent me a text to let me know, "Hey we got the part and will be there at 8 AM tomorrow to get your AC running!" This morning at 10 minutes until 8 AM, their tech arrived. By noon, my AC was working again. Dave and his team have been consistent. The were here when they say they would be. The job took the amount of time they said it would. They charged me the exact amount they quoted me. They even apologized that they couldn't do the repair yesterday because they were already booked - remember, I called them at the last minute - they could have easily pushed me back, but they didn't! I contacted these guys to get a second opinion and in the same day they were out here checking it out. They gave me a proper diagnosis and price for repairs.
