I was perplexed by the time spent on the unit as in previous years, with a different HVAC business, the tech would spend about 1.5 - 2 hours cleaning the debris out, and replacing any worn parts. However, to my disadvantage, I trusted the tech and did not check his work. Fast forward to the end of September/Early October, the AC started to blow hot air off and on. The property management company sent the same tech from Grace Aire, "the vendor that they contract with", and surprise surprise, he comes at 6:18 pm and leaves by 6:27 pm. He told my boyfriend and I, "don't turn the AC on as it will cause an electric fire, it was amping very high, and we needed a whole new unit." Mind you, the unit was replaced in 2015, but the tech kept telling me that it was the original unit from when the house was built in 1988, but the unit even had the origination date of 2015, on the side of the unit on the serial number plaque. I did not argue, and I asked the tech what could be done as it was over 90 degrees in the house, and he said nothing, he had a date in Phoenix but would put the work order in for a new unit and be in touch on Monday as it was Saturday evening. I let the property management know, and the actual landlord called another company, Comfortable Air, the tech was very surprised that the previous tech did not give any options to help me as it was dangerously hot in the house, and if it was at risk for an electrical fire, the lines should have been cut to prevent any hazard. The tech checked the unit out and confirmed that it was over amping by 1 amp above the units required ampules, the unit requires 24.4 max and it was at 25 even, the unit was filthy with debris, dirt, mud, lint from the dryer vent that empties in the vicinity, and the capacitor was the root cause of the problem. A very simple and cheap fix. The tech cleaned the unit out, which took about and hour, but now with the cleaning that was supposed to have been completed at the start of summer, and the new capacitor, the unit is amping at 18 ampules and works like brand new. But that's not all, I get a call from the tech from Grace Aire, questioning what the other tech did, and that he replaced the capacitor during the scheduled routine cleaning at the beginning of summer, of course I did not argue, just said ok, and let my property management company know about the call. My property management company insisted that their vendor come check the unit as they wanted to make sure the unit was working to par, I agreed provided it was not the same tech, but of course it was, and I would not let him on the property as I was afraid that he would sabotage the unit in order to justify his claims of a new unit. He refused to leave at first as he wanted to let the property management company know that I was refusing service, but I stood firm as I do not trust this man and felt intimidated and threatened. I also read his rude and condescending comments on another persons negative review, which was unprofessional in my opinion.
