This restaurant however received such good ratings and I've been hearing the buzz for many years so we finally tried it this past weekend. Yum!! The banoffee, which is a pie made of bananas, cream and toffee was sooo good. I highly recommend this favor. I've actually never tried a banoffee pie but decided to try, I was not disappointed, my son loved it as well so really we could've had another slice. Lol. some of the best pies i've ever had! there is a diverse selection with a ton of sweet and savory options. i tried their key lime pie and it was really good! not pictured, but i also got their savory pie and it was super good. for the price, you're getting a great portion. since the pies are premade, the food comes out quick, and the cashiers are really kind. sadly, the inside of the store is not open, but they have a couple of tables set up. across the street there is also a cozy park with lots of seating, so there's no need to worry about the ambiance. i would definitely recommend this place. read more

The sponge cake is dry, coconut is too coarse, and the chocolate coating looks and tastes like it's glued on, rather than dipped or drizzled. 2/5 Anzac biscuits: another classic that's ruined by, in this case, unnecessarily sticky texture and not enough of the core ingredients that make Anzac: oats and coconut. 1.5/5 All in all, I like the casual vibe and the big water glass, but their classic desserts ultimately let me down. Man oh man, do they serve proper pies at Proper Pie. I first got to try the magical pecan pie and chocolate chess pie at a tasting for my sister-in-law's rehearsal dinner. Both pies were superb - the pie crust was thick and perfectly baked golden brown with a hint of salt. The filling was rich and ample. The pecan pie has to be the best rendition I have ever tried. It is jam-packed with fat and plump pecans. I never considered myself a fan until I found myself on a second slice of that pecan pie from Proper Pie. This weekend, I got to try the strawberry rhubarb as well, which is just as fantastic. It is just so pleasing to see big chunks of rhubarb and caramelized strawberry oozing out of perfectly golden brown crust. They are operating very carefully with COVID with a pre-order and takeout only method. Online ordering begins at 10am the day of and you can choose your pickup time. These pies are the real deal! The savory pies are similar to empanadas. Morsels of filling covered in a flaky pie crust. I had buffalo chicken, spinach and cheese, and broccoli and cheddar cheese- that one being my favorite, it reminded me of my favorite soup! But save some room for a slice of sweet pie! My first experience with proper pie was hectic. The street was closed for a festival but fortunately they had a tent outside their shop. After pushing through crowds and waiting in line for my pie, I was greeted with such friendly staff. My favorite pie was the Butter Chicken. It had great flavor. We also tried their Guinness and steak, and pork and cabbage pies. I appreciate how the dough did not get soggy from the contents inside despite their being sauce even after being refrigerated and reheated 2 days after. Lastly we did try a fruit pie. They were all sold out of pies for the holiday and she suggested giving it another try when I came to visit. I ordered a slice of the pumpkin and salted caramel pie and the steak, mushroom, and Gorgonzola pie to take back home. My savory pie was a perfect personal size. The crust was flaky, buttery, and heavenly. The inside was gooey cheese and perfectly cooked mushrooms and steak. I loved every single bite. The pumpkin and salted caramel pie was quite possibly the best pumpkin pie I've ever eaten- no joke! The crust was flaky and it was a perfect amount of caramel and pumpkin. I tried a few bites of my friend's savory salmon, leek, and potato pie also. It was just as tasty as my steak and mushroom pie. Where do I begin??! Stumbled upon this tiny pie shop completely by accident. I was enjoying the views at Libby Hill Park while super hungry, and one of the yelp suggestions was this place. Upon entrance, I was greeted by a group of friendly employees who were willing to answer any questions I may have. The shop itself is pretty tiny, although it does have some seating room. The decor is simple and cute. They offer a good variety of savory and sweet pies, but the sweet pies are out on display so needless to say, I was drooling the whole time I was at the counter trying to make my choice. At first I got a spinach pie but quickly decided to get a slice of the yummy-looking Campfire pie slice. I wouldn't necessarily go back for the spinach pie, but I liked that it wasn't just dough and it had plenty of filling. Now the campfire pie was a different story! It was to die for and I'm almost happy I don't live in Richmond because otherwise I would be in trouble hahaha. The slice was a generous size with a yummy crust, delicious chocolate and the slightly toasted marshmallow topping were all I needed. Super tasty. The strawberry rhubarb was refreshing and not overwhelmingly sweet. It sort of reminded me of a slightly sour strawberry lemonade. DELICIOUS. It was a nice pie to enjoy while we were sitting in beautiful weather at the parkk. My boyfriend and I really liked cause it was refreshing and not too sweet. And its vegan!! Now for the derby....wow. If you love chocolate then you will LOVE this pie. It has caramel, walnuts, bourbon, and chocolate! DELICIOUS. I had the minced meat & cheese pie and he decided on a Jamaican Beef Patty. Both pies were piping hot and delicious. After we were a few bites in one of the employees came by to check on us and casually mentioned that the Beef patty was made with pork fat!! It's a hard pie to master because the filling shouldn't be too tart and runny OR too sweet, thick and viscous but this pie walks that line beautifully. The texture is reminiscent of a fluffy cheesecake but the creamy flavor swirls with delightful pops of lime zest. I could eat it every day. I shouldn't. But I could.
