    Beef Cheek Empanada
    Dominique M.

I decided to try out their happy hour menu. Happy Hour starts at 1pm, one of the earliest you will find in this area, which is what drew me in. I took a seat at the end of the empty bar and waited for a bartender. I was greeted quickly and offered a lunch and cocktail menu. However, I had to ask for the Happy Hour Menu (I arrived at 1:13pm). Not sure if this is a standard practice or if the bartender truly had just lost track of time. After perusing the happy hour menu (all items listed are $10) I decided on the Citrus Mojito, the Wagyu Steak Skewer, the Beef Cheek Empanada and the Lobster Bisque Shooter. The mojito was GOOD. Very refreshing, not too sweet, yet still light and flavorful. I felt good after one. The Wagyu Steak Skewer was the most UNDERWHELMING choice of the afternoon. Thick cut of meat, salted nicely, but if you don't like your cow still mooing don't order! I did not get a choice in temperature. It wasn't a huge deterrent for me but definitely could be unsettling for others. The Beef Cheek Empanada was my favorite bite of the afternoon. My only complaint is that you only get one per order lol. Flakey crust. Filled with nicely seasoned beef. 10/10! The Lobster Bisque Shooter has great potential, but today, was poorly executed. The lobster bisque itself is exceptionally flavorful, but terribly salty. It doesn't help that the cheese in the grilled cheese sandwich adds a layer of salt, that in conjunction with the soup, just ultimately cripples the dish. Any happy hour downtown with a $10 drink option is a gem in itself, but I would certainly return for the empanadas.

Pork Chop with asparagus and coconut rice

We stayed at The Ben Hotel for my partner's milestone birthday and, after wandering around looking for a dinner spot, decided to return to the hotel restaurant, Proper Grit, and I am so glad we did. What started as a change of plans turned into one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we sat down, Tralanda, our server, set the tone for an exceptional evening. She was warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to make us feel genuinely cared for. I wasn't feeling well and she immediately stepped in with fresh hot ciabatta bread and soda with bitters. These are the simple, thoughtful gestures that made a world of difference. We started with a pear and feta salad that was beautifully plated and incredibly fresh--bright flavors, perfect for opening the meal. For the main course, we shared the pork chop with coconut rice, which the chef graciously Florentined and split for us. The pork chop was cooked to perfection. Tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The coconut rice was a creative, tropical twist that paired surprisingly well and elevated the dish. The ambiance was just what we needed. It was quiet, romantic, and intimate. The service and food combined created the perfect atmosphere for a dinner to remember. While the meal was lovely, it was Tralanda's outstanding hospitality that truly made the night unforgettable. She is a gem, and I cannot thank her enough for turning an ordinary evening into something truly special. Highly recommend dining in if you are staying at The Ben--or even if you are just in the area. We will definitely be back.

Came here for happy hour and a quick bite to eat in the late afternoon on Friday. The appetizers were subpar, the mac & cheese was very cold. I would not recommend it. The French dip was decent, but wasn't great. We also ordered the lobster roll, which was extremely disappointing. The bread was basically stale, and the lobster was a bit fishy, had no flavor and was very dry. I really didn't like the mayo aïoli that came on top of it either overall, not the best experience. Our server was very friendly and they did play live music, which was lovely. I'd recommend just to come here for a drink and enjoy the music.

Incredible meal and beautiful restaurant in downtown West Palm. We visited on a recent trip and were so impressed by the food and service. We loved the decor for Christmas and food options. We had a citrus salad with goat cheese, the chicken paillard, and artichoke risotto. We loved all of our food, but the risotto was a little on the salty side. Overall it was a wonderful meal and the ambience of the hotel is worth the trip alone. Highly recommend if you are looking for a nice dinner in downtown West Palm.

This is such a cute spot in Clematis. Sunday brunch was very mellow. We had a reservation but it didn't seem too packed. People may have still been out celebrating Easter. Nonetheless, great service, great food. Gorkem, our server was a delight. He must have said at least 20 times, "Anything else I can do better for you." We thought that was such a different yet powerful way of asking us how things were going. The chicken and waffle meal on the brunch menu was delicious. I had a mimosa as well as The Inspiration cocktail. The Inspiration was such a hit; we ended with an extra on the house since they made more than anticipated at one point. Overall, great brunch spot. Stop by. Ask for Gorkem!!

3/20/25-PBIBS2025-2:30pm- 5 Star Service! On a very busy PBIBS Day they never skipped a beat. Always a warm welcome from Ruth at the Hostess Stand .. she is a great Ambassador for The Ben! We definitely needed to relax and cool down from working the Booth at the Boat Show.. decided to relax in the very comfortable lounge.. Juan came over to say Hi! It's been awhile.. I had a fall and have a broken wrist.. keeping me from my weekly Happy Hour routine at Proper Grit.. A very attentive young lady/bartender brought me a glass of water.. much needed on a very hot day.. I ordered a Cappuccino and their famous Chocolate Torte with creme anglaise .. absolutely delicious and just the right combination for me to continue working at the Show! Service with a smile from the entire team! Especially on a very busy day! I always highly recommend!!

Good spot to have an early morning breakfast. I gave it a 4 as for hotels it's a bit harder to get a higher rating. We had an outstanding waiter Gabriel. Very nice and personable. He does a great job, and makes sure you get the service you need. The restaurant is beautiful and the decor is right on. We will have to come to the Ben more often.

This review is for NYE dinner. Proper Grit is a beautiful restaurant but be sure to make a reservation. The lobster was thick and juicy. I think it was one of the best pieces of lobster I have ever had. It was worth the price. The steaks were tender. The food did not disappoint. The emerald 75 was a nice drink, but a little sweet. The old fashioned was good. Our server Giselle was really nice and easy to talk to.

Stopped here to grab an early dinner with hubs and MIL. We were greeted and seated promptly by the hostess with an option to sit where we were comfortable. After that we waited about 15 min for someone to serve the table but once our waiter came, service was pretty good and consistent. We ordered the honey walnut cauliflower- fantastic flavor bomb Me and MIL split the shaved ribeye sandwich and glad we did because it was full of meat and delicious! Also got side salads. Hubs got the local catch of the day - I forget what fish it was but it was 10/10. We didn't have time for dessert but there were definitely some items that caught our eye.

Beautiful facility, friendly welcoming staff and the plates coming out of the kitchen are tight. Killer Tiradito and the Grouper preparation is as good as it gets. Highest recommendation!

This place was truly amazing. The hotel that it's in is definetly one I want to stay at. The food was great, the drinks are good. The service was amazing, everyone is so nice. My ring fell and lodged itself in the sink drain(the top) and a bunch of people that worked there helped to get it out. From the restaurant you can see the ice rink which is nice to watch. Great place, hope to be back soon.

The food was fantastic, but the service left a bit to be desired. The bartender wasn't very friendly, and our server seemed to be invisible most of the time. I'd definitely give it another shot, hoping that the service was just having an off night!

Stopped in here for a cocktail. The bartenders are top notch and the alcohol list is pretty extensive. I had the Ben old fashioned. Very good. Perfectly mixed. Trevor was great with the drinks and conversation. We also stopped in for their brunch the next morning. We got a seat quick and our server, Lotoya was right there with water and order taking. I ordered the smoked turkey BLT. Really good with lots of great flavors. Bacon was really good. Deb had the chicken and waffles. Chicken was juicy and tender Really great atmosphere in this place!

The empanada was rich and flavorful with perfectly cooked beef and a crisp exterior, while the pork taco packed an impressive amount of flavor into a single bite. Both were excellent examples of why Buccan has developed such a strong reputation for its small plates. One of the highlights of the evening was the squid ink orecchiette. The pasta was perfectly cooked and coated in a rich, savory sauce that brought everything together. It was one of those dishes that makes you immediately start planning your next visit. For a larger plate, I ordered the prime beef burger, which was outstanding. The beef was juicy and flavorful, the toppings were balanced, and the fries were perfectly crisp. It may seem unusual to order a burger at one of Palm Beach's most acclaimed restaurants, but this one absolutely deserves the attention it receives. What impressed me most about Buccan was the consistency across every dish. Nothing felt like an afterthought. From the creative seafood dishes to the comfort-food favorites, every plate was executed with care and attention to detail. Palm Beach has no shortage of excellent dining options, but Buccan stands out as a restaurant that successfully combines creativity, quality ingredients, and flawless execution. If you're visiting the area, this is a reservation worth making well in advance. Recommended: Lobster Aquachile, Beef Empanada, Pork Taco, Squid Ink Orecchiette, Prime Beef Burger, and don't skip the fries. One of the best meals we had during our trip.

I talk about the "curb-to-table" experience frequently. In my former role as a Delta Air Line Captain, I recognized the curb-to-plane challenges our customers encountered. Chef Conley has created a friendly and welcoming experience from curb-to-table. It starts with the complimentary valet. Finally. Finally. I learned about our regular valet: MANNY! Manny, thank you for the kindness and safe service you have given us. You are usually the first person who takes care of the Buccan Family. You create the smile before we walk in the doors of Buccan or Imoto. Thank you. Solang' (my spelling is probably wrong and I apologize): You are such a beautiful soul. Thank you for your kind words to Laura as we left. Kindness makes a difference. While kindness is free, sincerity is priceless. Wow, I haven't even chatted about the food. We tried something new this time. After our small plates, we tried the pork chop. The mild onion and sweet rhubarb---simply stunning. Even shared, we boxed some for home. I don't care if you are watching what you eat. Close your eyes! The chocolate cookies (warmed) are a must. Period. Selfishly, I hope Chef Clay never gets a tv show. A book deal is allowed. We want this local treasure and his team to remain anchored here. Clay and his team are own foodie treasure in our back yard. But wait, there's more: Honored to watch Chef Clay modestly expand the Miami environs. He will be opening his Buccan-Imoto-Buccan Sandwich Shop experience in Coral Gables sometime in June/July. OMG, we cannot wait for this to open. Though retired from the airlines (I miss my MIA overnights), we will make the trip to celebrate these new venues. However, we will do it very quietly. We do not wish to be labeled as stalkers. Probably one of my longest reviews. I love seeing hard working people succeed. What this team does for the community is simply breathtaking. This is a true success story. Thank you Buccan-Imoto-Grato-Sandwich Shop-Stokes Barn Team!!!!

We sat in the wine vault and enjoyed a delicious meal. I ordered the mini lobster rolls, Caesar salad with grilled chicken, and truffle fries, while my friend had the grilled shrimp, salmon, and fries. With drinks, our total came to about $250, so it's definitely a splurge-worthy dining experience. Lauren provided excellent service and was incredibly sweet and attentive. Valet parking is the only option and costs $12. If you're looking for a beautiful setting and a special dining experience, RH Rooftop is worth the visit.

It's a gorgeous space and one of the main reasons I wanted to celebrate there. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the setting. Throughout the meal, I had to remind the staff multiple times about items we had ordered, and service felt noticeably slow. At times, it seemed like other tables were receiving more attention, which left us feeling overlooked. While the food and atmosphere were enjoyable, it wasn't the birthday experience I had hoped for. RH Rooftop has incredible potential because the space is so beautiful, but I think the service could be more attentive and consistent to match the upscale environment. Hoping this was just an off day.

The restaurant boasts a beautiful ambiance. The staff, who are well-dressed, provide exceptional service and are extremely attentive and helpful. They offer a complimentary bread service to begin. To begin, I ordered the French Onion Soup, followed by the Filet Mignon as my main course, accompanied by Brussels sprouts as a side. We concluded our meal with Key Lime Pie for dessert. This is definitely a must-visit when in Palm Beach.

This exclusive location has its own stand alone beauty from its parent the breakers. You cannot go wrong with this location for any special dinner you have planned. The service starts disappointing from the moment you check in. The young women at the front desk are elegantly, dressed in the same color scheme, however, they are extremely standoffish and unpleasant. This is a classic problem in southern Florida. Usually, this is standard service in Miami, but the tendency is not for this kind of service in the West Palm Beach area, specially on Palm Beach Island. We were seated, and our waitress was very pleasant in explaining the menu and offering to get us drinks. We ordered a series of appetizers and several steaks with sides to split amongst four people. We had already investigated the wine list and knew the two wines that we were going to order. Neither of them cheap options, but at least they were on the menu. An extraordinary Pinot Noir and an American Granache blend. As the appetizers came out, we doubled up on one of them and asked for another order. They said that they would bring it right away. This in fact did not happen as the appetizer arrived at the same time as the main course meats. The problem here was that as we went through the appetizer, our meat on the table already pre-cut was getting cold. In addition to this, the steak sauces that were ordered and the vegetables that were also ordered to accompany the meats, did not come at the same time. As a matter of fact, the side vegetable never came. We were in a little bit of a hurry at the end of the meal because we had a train to catch. They were very efficient and offering us a assortment of desserts to make up for the lack of bringing the vegetables. The issue here is, if you are on a protein, vegetable diet, compensating you with a plate full of sweets is not appropriate. If you're like me, I came to this restaurant to eat meat, not to be filled up at the end of the meal with ice cream and cake cakes. I understand that this is a courtesy to show concern on the part of the restaurant management , however, it's disappointing. All of this being said, we must say that the quality of the meat was extraordinary. It's a shame it got cold, and the desired side dishes did not work out. In summary, I would still recommend this restaurant. There are small details that you have to be aware of so you can be on top of the service staff to make sure it doesn't happen to you. Be clear to them at the beginning that you don't want your meal to come out in stages. Bring us our appetizers all at the same time. If you cannot bring them out at the same time, do not bring them with the main courses. Make sure you are clear with them about what you want as your main courses. Take the plunge, try it. On your terms.
