Pork Chop with asparagus and coconut rice
    Cheryl L.

We stayed at The Ben Hotel for my partner's milestone birthday and, after wandering around looking for a dinner spot, decided to return to the hotel restaurant, Proper Grit, and I am so glad we did. What started as a change of plans turned into one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we sat down, Tralanda, our server, set the tone for an exceptional evening. She was warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to make us feel genuinely cared for. I wasn't feeling well and she immediately stepped in with fresh hot ciabatta bread and soda with bitters. These are the simple, thoughtful gestures that made a world of difference. We started with a pear and feta salad that was beautifully plated and incredibly fresh--bright flavors, perfect for opening the meal. For the main course, we shared the pork chop with coconut rice, which the chef graciously Florentined and split for us. The pork chop was cooked to perfection. Tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The coconut rice was a creative, tropical twist that paired surprisingly well and elevated the dish. The ambiance was just what we needed. It was quiet, romantic, and intimate. The service and food combined created the perfect atmosphere for a dinner to remember. While the meal was lovely, it was Tralanda's outstanding hospitality that truly made the night unforgettable. She is a gem, and I cannot thank her enough for turning an ordinary evening into something truly special. Highly recommend dining in if you are staying at The Ben--or even if you are just in the area. We will definitely be back.

Incredible meal and beautiful restaurant in downtown West Palm. We visited on a recent trip and were so impressed by the food and service. We loved the decor for Christmas and food options. We had a citrus salad with goat cheese, the chicken paillard, and artichoke risotto. We loved all of our food, but the risotto was a little on the salty side. Overall it was a wonderful meal and the ambience of the hotel is worth the trip alone. Highly recommend if you are looking for a nice dinner in downtown West Palm.

This is such a cute spot in Clematis. Sunday brunch was very mellow. We had a reservation but it didn't seem too packed. People may have still been out celebrating Easter. Nonetheless, great service, great food. Gorkem, our server was a delight. He must have said at least 20 times, "Anything else I can do better for you." We thought that was such a different yet powerful way of asking us how things were going. The chicken and waffle meal on the brunch menu was delicious. I had a mimosa as well as The Inspiration cocktail. The Inspiration was such a hit; we ended with an extra on the house since they made more than anticipated at one point. Overall, great brunch spot. Stop by. Ask for Gorkem!!

3/20/25-PBIBS2025-2:30pm- 5 Star Service! On a very busy PBIBS Day they never skipped a beat. Always a warm welcome from Ruth at the Hostess Stand .. she is a great Ambassador for The Ben! We definitely needed to relax and cool down from working the Booth at the Boat Show.. decided to relax in the very comfortable lounge.. Juan came over to say Hi! It's been awhile.. I had a fall and have a broken wrist.. keeping me from my weekly Happy Hour routine at Proper Grit.. A very attentive young lady/bartender brought me a glass of water.. much needed on a very hot day.. I ordered a Cappuccino and their famous Chocolate Torte with creme anglaise .. absolutely delicious and just the right combination for me to continue working at the Show! Service with a smile from the entire team! Especially on a very busy day! I always highly recommend!!

Good spot to have an early morning breakfast. I gave it a 4 as for hotels it's a bit harder to get a higher rating. We had an outstanding waiter Gabriel. Very nice and personable. He does a great job, and makes sure you get the service you need. The restaurant is beautiful and the decor is right on. We will have to come to the Ben more often.

This review is for NYE dinner. Proper Grit is a beautiful restaurant but be sure to make a reservation. The lobster was thick and juicy. I think it was one of the best pieces of lobster I have ever had. It was worth the price. The steaks were tender. The food did not disappoint. The emerald 75 was a nice drink, but a little sweet. The old fashioned was good. Our server Giselle was really nice and easy to talk to.

Stopped here to grab an early dinner with hubs and MIL. We were greeted and seated promptly by the hostess with an option to sit where we were comfortable. After that we waited about 15 min for someone to serve the table but once our waiter came, service was pretty good and consistent. We ordered the honey walnut cauliflower- fantastic flavor bomb Me and MIL split the shaved ribeye sandwich and glad we did because it was full of meat and delicious! Also got side salads. Hubs got the local catch of the day - I forget what fish it was but it was 10/10. We didn't have time for dessert but there were definitely some items that caught our eye.

Beautiful facility, friendly welcoming staff and the plates coming out of the kitchen are tight. Killer Tiradito and the Grouper preparation is as good as it gets. Highest recommendation!

This place was truly amazing. The hotel that it's in is definetly one I want to stay at. The food was great, the drinks are good. The service was amazing, everyone is so nice. My ring fell and lodged itself in the sink drain(the top) and a bunch of people that worked there helped to get it out. From the restaurant you can see the ice rink which is nice to watch. Great place, hope to be back soon.

The food was fantastic, but the service left a bit to be desired. The bartender wasn't very friendly, and our server seemed to be invisible most of the time. I'd definitely give it another shot, hoping that the service was just having an off night!

Stopped in here for a cocktail. The bartenders are top notch and the alcohol list is pretty extensive. I had the Ben old fashioned. Very good. Perfectly mixed. Trevor was great with the drinks and conversation. We also stopped in for their brunch the next morning. We got a seat quick and our server, Lotoya was right there with water and order taking. I ordered the smoked turkey BLT. Really good with lots of great flavors. Bacon was really good. Deb had the chicken and waffles. Chicken was juicy and tender Really great atmosphere in this place!

I came here with friends and was deeply impressed with their lovely ambiance and terrific food and cocktail menus; terrific. I felt terrific and magical, magical and terrific. Any restaurant that has an appetizer called "Hanging Bacon" is going to be "A" Number One in my book. They had bacon hanging from a rod, dripping its bacon grease onto freshly made cornbread, covered in creamy servings of butter. I could just sit there and eat that, and everything in the Universe would be alright. A symphony of succulent savory satisfaction that all foods categorized as savory should follow. Savoring each bite made me believe we have a future before being washed away by hurricanes, while "Eternal Flame" by the Bangles plays in the background. Overall, the restaurant has a terrific ambiance with dark brown, Asian-inspired paneling, and darkly-lit overtones, with the dining area a combination of table seating and lounge-like booth seating with linen-like cushions, and lots and lots of plants. They have a nice bar area toward the back of the restaurant, with access to an outdoor patio to enjoy drinks with a view of the intercoastal to the right. Once we had our server assigned to the table, the service was excellent. She made sure we had what we needed with cocktails, answers regarding items from the dinner menu, and making sure we were happy with our experience. Kicking off with cocktails, their Palm Beach south side drink special was a magical blast of mixology goodness, while the Blueberry Old Fashioned brought this synergy of a culinary experience to a head. They do cocktails very well at Proper Grit. This set the stage for the exquisite lobster and short rib cavatelli, which brought me to a place of culinary wonderment and magical enlightenment between the tantalizing flavors of the buttery lobster and the savory short rib. I had room for dessert so I enjoyed the banana foster that was made with fresh banana bread that made me jump for joy without the need for a Chips Ahoy. The ice cream was a creamy and satisfying complement to the warm and soft banana bread. I would return in a heartbeat with my wife to this place. Especially, when they have hanging bacon on the menu as that was the world to me.

Ordered the jerk chicken w coconut rice. Chicken was spicy but not authentic jerk spice. Portion of coconut rice was very small. The steak frites were delicious. Drinks were great.

I picked Batch while walking by because it had the cutest vibe but we weren't expecting much. We were greeted by Rachel, the manager, at the host stand. She didn't just lead us to our table, she walked with us. She asked us if we were from the area and what brought us in. It was all small talk but felt genuine. She waited until we were seated to hand us or menus and it didn't feel rushed. Gabby, our server, showed confidence and love for the place when she introduced herself. They make everything from scratch here and Gabby sold us on the eggrolls and mac and cheese to start. However, before those could arrive, Rachel came by with an order of biscuits for us. These were absolutely to die for and the gesture was very kind. The eggrolls, bbq sauce, and ranch were the highlight of our food adventure here. You could tell this was all freshly made. We both ordered burgers and those were very good, hearty, and not greasy. Their house sauce B1 added a perfect element of smokiness to the burger. Gabby's service ensured we always had refills, never had to ask for anything, and the table was always clean. Rachel stopped by and checked on us and also gave us cute glasses to take home with us and coupons to come back for happy hour for some "off menu snacking". So if you're asking if Batch does things differently, they absolutely do. We can't wait to bring our friends next time. Ask for Rachel and Gabby and don't sleep on the eggrolls!

I talk about the "curb-to-table" experience frequently. In my former role as a Delta Air Line Captain, I recognized the curb-to-plane challenges our customers encountered. Chef Conley has created a friendly and welcoming experience from curb-to-table. It starts with the complimentary valet. Finally. Finally. I learned about our regular valet: MANNY! Manny, thank you for the kindness and safe service you have given us. You are usually the first person who takes care of the Buccan Family. You create the smile before we walk in the doors of Buccan or Imoto. Thank you. Solang' (my spelling is probably wrong and I apologize): You are such a beautiful soul. Thank you for your kind words to Laura as we left. Kindness makes a difference. While kindness is free, sincerity is priceless. Wow, I haven't even chatted about the food. We tried something new this time. After our small plates, we tried the pork chop. The mild onion and sweet rhubarb---simply stunning. Even shared, we boxed some for home. I don't care if you are watching what you eat. Close your eyes! The chocolate cookies (warmed) are a must. Period. Selfishly, I hope Chef Clay never gets a tv show. A book deal is allowed. We want this local treasure and his team to remain anchored here. Clay and his team are own foodie treasure in our back yard. But wait, there's more: Honored to watch Chef Clay modestly expand the Miami environs. He will be opening his Buccan-Imoto-Buccan Sandwich Shop experience in Coral Gables sometime in June/July. OMG, we cannot wait for this to open. Though retired from the airlines (I miss my MIA overnights), we will make the trip to celebrate these new venues. However, we will do it very quietly. Not only did we love the food but we also got to learn the history behind Buccan which was fascinating to hear about. I got the steak tartare to start and it was impeccable!! The fried yolk on the top was so different than what you would usually see at most places. I got the swordfish for my entree and it's by far the best swordfish I have ever tried. Their short rib empanada at first bite tasted like every other empanada but once you really dig into it, it was very good! To end the night, we tried their chocolate chip cookies which was made to perfection sprinkled with a little salt on the top! Will definitely be back!

It's beautifully decorated and truly Instagram-worthy. Every detail feels thoughtfully designed, making it a great spot for a special outing or even just to enjoy the ambiance. Our waiter was also excellent, attentive and efficient, he also made sure everything flowed smoothly throughout our meal. That said, there were a few downsides. Upon arrival, valet service was disappointing. Several employees were standing around talking while only one person was actively working, which caused unnecessary delays. Both the car in front of us and our own were left waiting longer than expected. Food-wise, while everything was good, my meal arrived warm rather than hot, which took away from the experience a bit. Also, our food did not arrive at the same time. For a restaurant at this level, I expected better attention to that detail. Dessert was also a bit underwhelming visually as I was expecting something more polished and presentable to match the overall aesthetic of the restaurant. Overall, RH delivers on atmosphere and service at the table, but tightening up the valet experience and food presentation/temperature would really elevate it to the next level.

The Flagler Steakhouse is a part of the Breaker's Hotel Restaurants…read more It is not situated within the Hotel but rather across the street in its own building, complete with valet parking. The restaurant boasts a beautiful ambiance. The staff, who are well-dressed, provide exceptional service and are extremely attentive and helpful. They offer a complimentary bread service to begin. To begin, I ordered the French Onion Soup, followed by the Filet Mignon as my main course, accompanied by Brussels sprouts as a side. We concluded our meal with Key Lime Pie for dessert. This is definitely a must-visit when in Palm Beach.

Absolutely one of the most iconic beautiful restaurants in the West Palm Beach area. The location…read moreis unmatchable. Located on the golf course of breakers on Palm Beach. This exclusive location has its own stand alone beauty from its parent the breakers. You cannot go wrong with this location for any special dinner you have planned. The service starts disappointing from the moment you check in. The young women at the front desk are elegantly, dressed in the same color scheme, however, they are extremely standoffish and unpleasant. This is a classic problem in southern Florida. Usually, this is standard service in Miami, but the tendency is not for this kind of service in the West Palm Beach area, specially on Palm Beach Island. We were seated, and our waitress was very pleasant in explaining the menu and offering to get us drinks. We ordered a series of appetizers and several steaks with sides to split amongst four people. We had already investigated the wine list and knew the two wines that we were going to order. Neither of them cheap options, but at least they were on the menu. An extraordinary Pinot Noir and an American Granache blend. As the appetizers came out, we doubled up on one of them and asked for another order. They said that they would bring it right away. This in fact did not happen as the appetizer arrived at the same time as the main course meats. The problem here was that as we went through the appetizer, our meat on the table already pre-cut was getting cold. In addition to this, the steak sauces that were ordered and the vegetables that were also ordered to accompany the meats, did not come at the same time. As a matter of fact, the side vegetable never came. We were in a little bit of a hurry at the end of the meal because we had a train to catch. They were very efficient and offering us a assortment of desserts to make up for the lack of bringing the vegetables. The issue here is, if you are on a protein, vegetable diet, compensating you with a plate full of sweets is not appropriate. If you're like me, I came to this restaurant to eat meat, not to be filled up at the end of the meal with ice cream and cake cakes. I understand that this is a courtesy to show concern on the part of the restaurant management , however, it's disappointing. All of this being said, we must say that the quality of the meat was extraordinary. It's a shame it got cold, and the desired side dishes did not work out. In summary, I would still recommend this restaurant. There are small details that you have to be aware of so you can be on top of the service staff to make sure it doesn't happen to you. Be clear to them at the beginning that you don't want your meal to come out in stages. Bring us our appetizers all at the same time. If you cannot bring them out at the same time, do not bring them with the main courses. Make sure you are clear with them about what you want as your main courses. Take the plunge, try it. On your terms.
