Proper Chophouse at Nash Casino was such a beautiful dining experience. From the moment the food arrived, every plate looked absolutely stunning and thoughtfully prepared. I had The shrimp and grits appetizer as a meal. It was full of flavor, a little salty and spicy. The shrimp were well cooked and pure comfort food. The roasted carrots were perfectly glazed and added the perfect touch. My husband had the brick chicken and thought it was a little dry, but the bacon jam was delicious. They serve complementary bread with 2 butters - sweet and salty. The salty was too salty, but the sweet butter was sublime. The bread is super delicious the lemon cocktail was refreshing and presented so well. But the real stars for me were the desserts -- the warm bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and caramel drizzle was incredible, and the coconut cake was light, moist, and the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The atmosphere felt upscale and perfect for a nice night out at the casino. Service and presentation were excellent. I'm giving it 4 stars because while everything was very good, I was hoping for just a little more "wow" in the flavor to make it a full 5-star experience. The food here is overrated and even though the ambiance is good it doesn't have good taste overall. I ordered the lobster risotto and it was advertised as 16 ounces of lobster but instead only receives around 4 ounces of total lobster meat. Special shout out to Rob for providing us with some of the most outstanding, invigorated service we've ever experienced so far! You ever been to a "sleeper" restaurant? Ya know, the one you don't expect much out of, but then turns out to totally shock and amaze you? Well, that's the best way I can describe my first impression of Proper Chophouse. Living up to its namesake in casual fine dining fashion, this place offers a succulent selection of beef cuts - to include our all time favorite: the prime rib! Now, it's important to note this place is smack dab in the midst of a casino recently added just outside The Pheasant Lane Mall. Like, you literally have to walk through the casino to get to this place. Which would explain the casual-ish atmosphere within. As far as attire goes, it ranged from straight casual to business casual. Naturally, we opted for the latter since we were sort of doing a date night thing. Also, another shout out to this place for doing romantic dim lighting correctly. Happy to say we didn't require flashlights to read our menus, unlike at The Federal in Mass. We sat in a cozy half-booth which accommodated these oval shaped tables. It's a genius design, really! This meant that I could sit next to wifey without losing any elbow room. It's just like the chef's tables in Hell's Kitchen. Seriously, why don't more restaurants have this?! Okay. Ambiance and formalities out of the way, we must discuss the food. Lobster bisque: f*#!ing phenomenal! That about sums it up. I mean, this is the best damn lobster bisque we've had since the likes of Pappadeaux down south. First of all, it actually has lobster in it (you'd be surprised how few restaurants bother including this). Second, the broth is everything you'd expect in a bisque such as this. Served table side with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil (don't ask me what this does because I don't know) and ripe with the essence of fresh lobster from the coast, I'd give this one a 10 out of 10! Prime rib: I didn't mention as much in the photo I took, but that's a mid-rare piece you're looking at. Seasoned brilliantly on the edges with just a hint of mustard and sides of au jus and horseradish, AT LAST - we have found a properly cooked prime rib in NH! Well, technically this is the second time we found a good one; first one being from Gordi's up in Lincoln. Anyways, it was hella tender and HUGE for a 10oz! Can't imagine how much bigger the king's cut must look in comparison. It's not *quite* as seasoned as the one we had at Thirty Five back in Texas (that one still remains #1 in our hearts). But it still deserves a 9 out of 10. Baked potato: I mean....you already know this one's a personal favorite side of mine. Pretty difficult to screw this one up. If you're a butter & sour cream fiend like me, you might wanna request extra condiments on the side. 10 out of 10. Shrimp scampi: Once I saw this on the menu, I immediately knew I had to try it. And it was every bit delicious as the photo depicts. These tasty little morsels are delivered marinating in the garlic infused butter so that one may savor every ounce of buttery goodness that arrives in that silver gravy boat. Which, btw, is perfect for pouring the remaining butter over your baked potato if you happen to run low on the accompanying condiments (I highly recommend this table side hack, btw). Another 10 out of 10. So, listen....ignore the few haters who wrote scathing reviews about this place earlier on. As I understand it, this place has only been open for a few months. But that hasn't stopped them from forming a stunning reputation and serving more covers than you could shake a steak knife at. 2 of us arrived around 5:30pm on a Friday night before a long weekend. There were 4 seats left at the bar, so we grabbed a couple and had drinks and dinner there. It remained pretty quiet with seats available throughout our stay, we left around 7pm. SERVICE: David took great care of us the entire time. He was friendly and attentive and seemed to have a good rapport with all the employees whom he interacted with. Killian was hustling all night, the bar was frequently cleared of glasses and dishes and I saw he meticulously wiped down each placemat before placing on the bar. Tyler (manager?) was also helpful as he explained how the casino worked. ATMOSPHERE: The seats are comfy, the bar is clean. Placemats are leather, glassware and utensils are heavy and have a nice feel. The vibe is similar to other high end steak houses, classy and warm. The first wine pour was generous and the prices are quite reasonable. FOOD: The rolls and butter were super light and fluffy. The truffle fries were excellent. I had to remind myself they were not my main dinner, but it was hard to not want to finish them off. Generous serving, crisp on the outside, fresh on the inside, seasoned perfectly. The dry age rib eye, cooked medium, was a nice quality of meat, soft and no gristle. The only thing I wish were different was the cooking method. I prefer grilled. This steak was pan seared so had more spices/flavorings than I prefer on a steak. It was still quite good, and this is a personal preference only. Easy access and plenty of parking. My fav thing is to peep out "high end" dining at casinos. The decor is very nice and it is classy and plush. The vibe was fab and service (Jessica) was sooper dooper 2. The lobster bisk was prepared "tableside" whereby a dood came out with a bowl with lobster meat and then poured the bisk into it and then added the sherry from a teenie carafe. I got onion soup which was very good and I got a seezer salad too and it had a couple of properly prepared anchovies (FYI: anchovies are supposed to be rinsed or soaked to remove the excess salt. Kudos to PC&C for being privy to this). My main was the prime burger (8 oz. paddy) which was excellent and jazzed up with attractive garnish and good fries as well. My One got the prime rib which was very good. Her mashed was epic. We also got a bottle of red which was properly decanted in a decanter at out request. This joint is very clean and the tableclothes were white as a ghost. No janky detritus anywhere was found. Sooper klean here! I wanna say that the prices were VERY reasonable. What a shame, when this place opened It was my go to for great food and good service. Since it has gone the other way. Food is still good but prices have gone up and the service has gotten bad. Want to sit at the bar for a quick bite and a drink? Find somewhere else to go. The regular bartender has no idea how to work the bar, that is to say first in the seat first to get served. Located inside The Nash Casino on the level 2 at Pheasant Lane Mall, Proper Chophouse & Cocktails is an enclosed steakhouse & cocktail bar offering a casual modern dining & drinking atmosphere with a full service bar with seating, tables and booths in the front and back areas and a glass wine display rack. The bar offers a few draft beers, bottle beers, wine list, mixed drinks, martinis, and cocktails. The food menu offers a selection of prime steaks, prime rib, fish/seafood dishes, chicken, pasta, salads, appetizers, side dishes, and desserts. The pricing is moderate high and competitive with similar options in Nashua. I noted that the Proper Chophouse menu is similar to the menu at Irons Steakhouse at The Mint Gaming Hall Kentucky Downs in Franklin, KY (at TN border) with similar and varied offerings. I made an online reservation for 6:30 pm seating for myself, specified a table, but I had no preference if I would be seated at the bar (they do reserve bar seats). I arrived here at 6:28 pm to check-in, but the place seemed very busy and the host staff was still trying to seat people who had earlier reservations. There was also an hour wait for walk-ins. I was finally able to sit at a small table near the bar after 15 minutes. The server arrived a couple minutes later and gave me a food menu and offered a cocktails menu too. I requested tap ice water. I placed my order for an appetizer, entrée, and large side dish. A food runner broughta basket of fresh hot baked soft bread with salted butter and a sweet yellow spread, which was really great. For an appetizer, the Moules Frites ($18 plus tax) was comprised of a 17 steamed PEI mussels, andouille sausage, confit garlic whole grain mustard and house cut fries simmered in hot mussel broth with a big lemon. This appetizer was very filling to eat and the broth had salty rich flavors. The fries in the bowl were sort of a substitute for toast points. For an entrée, the Lamb Bolognese ($24 plus tax) was comprised of very al dente papparadelle noodles in a hearty sauce with San Marzano tomato, ground lamb & seasonings, and ricotta on top. The side dish (sharable size) of Crispy Brussel Sprouts ($9 plus tax) were grilled and tossed with balsamic glaze, horseradish, lemon and parmigiano Reggiano. For dessert, I chose the Creme Brulee ($9 plus tax) which was partially black and burnt on top with fresh raspberries and a cool creamy custard undemeath. I enjoyed the custard and berries and left the burnt caramelized pieces in the dish. After I was done, the check was presented to which was $65.10 with tax and before tip. Overall, the first two courses including the bread, appetizer, entree & side dish were pretty good and had nice hearty flavors. The dessert, however, was not great since I had burnt aftertaste from the caramelized top of the crème brulee. I now regret not opting for the banana bread pudding ($12) with vanilla ice cream or the key lime tart ($9). The speed of service varied with a delay to be seated with reservation, first course and bread coming out promptly, the dinner entrée & side and dessert taking a bit of time to be served (busy place), and check cash out was prompt. The server was professional giving several refills on the ice water and cleaning off my table between courses. I did not order steak on this visit because I just had a nice strip steak this week. I would definitely come back here again for another dinner, but I would give it some time for the kinks to be worked out. read more

Wedge Salad. That is the only thing this steakhouse is missing. You don't have to reprint the menus, just make it a special and get down to Market Basket and grab some iceberg heads. The food here is excellent and on par with Manhattan and Boston steakhouses. The service needs work, mainly the bar. Had we been able to get more timely drinks to our table, we would have had a lot more, probably enough to pay the wages of two more full-time bartenders for the time we were there. The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The sides were really the highlight (since there was no wedge) - potatoes, Mac & Cheese, etc. - sure they couldn't have been healthy but that's what makes them delicious. Hello everyone, just our quick review of the proper chophouse in the Nash Casino my wife and I went on Saturday for dinner and the ambience is amazing but the quality is less then I expected . oysters are the smallest I have ever seen , question if they are legal and I ordered the veal Milanese and it looked great but it was tasteless and we told the manager and he did nothing . Had a reservation for 6:30pm. Arrived at 6:27pm waited to be seated cause our "table wasn't ready." They tried to sit us in the front window at this small two person table at the bar when my reservation was for the dinning room. I said no we are not sitting there. They moved us further back in the restaurant. The host I think is name was Tyler seemed bitter that we didn't want to sit on display. The service is okay. Our server took the top off my smoked old fashioned before she dropped at the table, I tried to explain to her why she should leave it on till she puts it down in front of the person who ordered it. She seemed upset that I said that. Would she. Love to drink more there cause the drinks were good but she never came to check on us. Don't go there unless dressed to their liking. Coming from casino with a sweatshirt on we got the run around to get some apps and drinks. They'll turn you away saying no reservations for 4 hours yet open table says plenty of tables. So many empty tables were open and visible. All done with this place. read more
