I've been really excited to check this place out and was happy to get bar reservations on a beautiful Friday night. The bartenders (I wish I caught their names) were excellent and the drink menu was extremely diverse. Loved the cocktails and the vibes. The menu was outstanding, and the flavors were spot on. Presentation on the dishes felt a bit lacking and some ingredients on the flatbread we got felt really light, but I know they are switching menus soon so that could account for it. We've been going here since they opened last year and really love everything they've done. Both the dinner and cocktail menus are updated seasonally and we really look forward to the changes and new items. It's clear that a lot of thought and testing goes into each new cocktail and dish. The flavors are complimentary with a great deal of depth which really make you appreciate every bite or sip. In addition they take a great deal of care with allergies and most of the items on the menu either are or can be made gluten free. I highly recommend stopping in if you're in the Ayer area. Brunch! Yes please! Decided to drive to the town of Ayer to check out this intriguing restaurant. It wasn't too busy for lunch on Sunday morning and so we were quickly seated in their exclextic front room. I really loved their bright, fun and colorful decor! And their beautiful colored murals were also very nice to admire while dining. There is also a very long nice bar with plenty of stool seating. The menu looked very interesting and it was really hard to choose any entree. Literally every item was some kind of culture fusion mash up! There was also a cocktail/mocktails drinks menu that looked yummy! We finally decided on their hibiscus breakfast burrito and tandoori chicken n waffles. Both dishes although traditional were very unique and different. My burrito was packed with so much flavor because it literally had so many different ingredients like chickpeas, rice and hibiscus! I tasted a new ingredient each time I took a bite! My boyfriends chicken was so tender and juicy on the inside and super crunchy on the outside! It was mouthwatering! It was also topped with sweet potatoes which was very different but also delicious! The mocktails we ordered were also very refreshing and transported me to a tropical place! A great concept, executed well, but with a silly name. There is no ravioli served here, and I ignored this place for so long because I assumed it was something it wasn't. (Read the explanation on the website. I still can't make any sense of it.) And a sign outside that was so unassertive that I passed by for several weeks before I even realized it existed. But thanks to the wife I finally visited (twice now, with more sure to come) and I'm glad I did. The menu is all over the place culturally, with influences of Ethiopian, Turkish, Japanese, Indian, Mexican, Korean, Thai, Spanish, Jamaican, and probably others. You might think that's a recipe for disaster - how can they excel at all of these? But everything I've tried so far has been good to excellent. And don't worry - they don't try to mix all those flavors into every dish! So far we've tried: Elote Hush Puppy Waffles (corn & jalapeno, lime crema, cotijo, cilantro). Good but I'd prefer them crispier, not soft. Fingerling Patatas Bravas (small roasted potatoes with chimichurri, harissa, scallions): Excellent, and really works as an appetizer for sharing. Lamb Meatballs (their description mentions whipped feta, olives, red tzatziki). Tasty but the consistency was off; way too soft. The above were from the "small bites" section. Now to the entrees. Katsu Chicken Sandwich (crispy chicken, kimchi hot honey, pickles, toasted gochujang foccacia) Super crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, the focaccia grilled and so much flavor it's good enough to eat on its own. BBQ Pork Loin Ramen (Gochujang broth, noodles, kimchi seasonal vegetables, chili crunch, fried egg) Assertive flavorful broth, plentiful ingredients, the pork thickly sliced and surprisingly flavorful. Egg fully cooked as I requested and it really was crispy as advertised. TRT Gnocchi (braised oxtails, sweet potato gnocchi, onion, pepper, tomato, scotch bonnet, coconut milk, jerk seasoning) Big portion, both the meat and gnocchi. Gnocchi had good consistency, not gummy. Meat was shredded and flavorful. I would have preferred on the bone though. Not overly coconutty. Spicy. There are several desserts. We've only tried two so far but they didn't do much for me. There were these bao bao buns filled with ice cream and drizzled with sauce. Tasty but the proportions were off. The buns were large and dwarfed the tiny dollops of ice cream within. There was a tea-infused cheesecake that was a pleasantly sweet way to finish a meal but I didn't really detect any tea flavor. The best thing was the wife discovering she could just order the ice cream alone. It's not listed on the menu. This was the burnt sugar again, which really tastes more like an intensely flavored cinnamon to me. We both liked it. The serving of 4 very small scoops was a good size in total and a great deal at $4. The drinks are first rate and innovative. I love cocktails with ingredients I've never heard of and there are several of these here. I've tried the Sake Daiquiri and the Libre Del Mundo so far. They all sound so good I plan to go through the entire list over my next few visits. The bar looks amazing, with a large selection of top-shelf whiskies and other liquors that intrigue me but they are probably best enjoyed straight and I mostly prefer cocktails. I get the sense that the bartender really knows his stuff and I could learn a few things from him sitting at the bar and trying his recommendations. The room is small, as are the tables. It's eclectically decorated. From where I sat I viewed two colorful paintings, one of Albert Einstein and another of an elephant. To my right, a large wall made of leafy greens. I *think* they were plastic but will have to check. Comfortable surroundings, good service, and innovative food will keep me coming back. Desserts need work or maybe I just need to find the ones I like. And I hope they come up with specials or change the menu occasionally. That's important to me as I get bored easily. read more

Had a fantastic meal and experience. The vibe is great, the service from everyone in the restaurant was professional and friendly. We started with the fingerling patatas bravas. They were perfectly prepared and seasoned. My wife had the smash burger and loved it. I had a bite and the edge was crispy, the center juicy and the kimchi was a beautiful combination. I had the Korean lamb flatbread which was an incredible mix of flavors. I would eat it everyday. To finish off the meal we had a strawberry shortcake that was elevated to perfection. The Ravioli Theory opened a few weeks ago in the former Bar 25 in Ayer in the Spaulding Building. This cozy bistro & bar serves up a mix of cuisines such as African, Caribbean, Indian, Greek, European, Latin, & Asian curated into an interesting lineup of food including a selection of starters, flatbreads, salads, sandwiches, smashburgers, meat, seafood & vegetarian dishes, and noodle & pasta dishes (no ravioli on the menu). They also offer a Sunday brunch menu with egg selection. They also offer 12 draft beers, wine list, cocktails, mocktails, and Real City Colas. The prices are moderate and most food items/dishes can be shared. I stopped by The Ravioli Theory recently on a rainy evening during the week. The dining & bar space is cozy with table & high table seating in the front near the windows and the full service bar with seating towards the back. There are colorful mural art on the walls and a mix of current pop music and Jamaican music play over the speakers. I took a seat up at the bar and was given a glass of chilled water and food & drink menus to look over. It took me a bit to decide what I was going to eat and needed to look at the photos of the food on Facebook. For a starter, the Elote Hush Puppy Waffles ($14 plus tax) was comprised of 9 soft mini waffles (crispy com & jalapenos) topped with roasted corn, cotja, lime crema, chili flakes, & cilantro. This starter had a nice spicy taste, but not burning hot. For an entrée, the Katsu Chicken Sandwich ($16 plus tax) was comprised of crunchy hand breaded pounded chicken cutlets, fermented kimchi hot honey, pickle chips, on soft toasted gochujang focaccia and a side of greens and shaved carrots in a zesty carrot vinaigrette dressing. The Katsu Chicken was served very hot and had a nice crunch with a slight sweet honey flavor. I actually ate half the sandwich and took home the other half to share. The check with Toast QR code was $32.10 with tax and before tip. Overall, an interesting and tasty dinner with staged relaxed service, starter coming out first, then entrée sandwich prepared after I was done with the mini waffles. The party sitting next to me really enjoyed their TRT Gnocchi with braised oxtails & sweet potato gnocchi which had spicy and sweet flavors with jerk seasoning, scotch bonnet, & coconut milk in one dish. I almost ordered gnocchi, but I'll try it next time around. read more

We stopped in this week for some late night drinks and apps and were immediately intrigued by your food, ambience, philosophy, and origin story. We enjoyed the katsu chicken sandwich and mushroom pide. Our server Ethan pointed us to some great drinks - lychee sangria and London Rush. We also like that you have put a lot of creativity into your drinks without alcohol. Lots of restaurants are good but are they memorable? This one is. We liked it so much we are bringing four more friends for the April 18 celebration! read more

Wonderful restaurant- eclectic food, delicious drinks you've never seen before, friendly "team-based" staff. The lamb meatballs and katsu chicken sandwich were our favorite. Mazcal espresso martini with sweet potato puree - sounds weird but was great. Tastes like a thanksgiving martini. read more

They then sat a couple next right next to us at a table for 2. I kid you not - there was not one other table occupied when we left. Another great meal last night at The Ravioli Theory before the Sonny Jain's Wild Wild East show at Groton Hill Music Center (an amazing place!). We sat at a bend at the bar, which made conversation among our group of three much easier than I'd expected. The bar shelving and lighting was really lovely close-up. Adrienne enjoyed her cocktail, and we all enjoyed our meals. The Katsu chicken sandwich was crisp and tender and delightfully seasoned, a really good choice, and the side salad added a nice balance of taste and texture. The Ravioli Theory is a fun place to eat dinner - observe the colorful murals clearly made by an artist, and the great scientist Albert Einstein watching from the wall as the American multi-cultural democratic experiment blooms and survives in this central Massachusetts outpost that is downtown Ayer. Observe the plates and cushions welcoming you with a turquoise and saffron aesthetic, all fresh and bright and new. The menu has vegetarian and gluten free items clearly marked, indicating that everyone is welcome here. Many restaurants closed during the pandemic, and there hasn't been this energy since Chloe closed its doors in Hudson several years ago. The impossible but true story of two chefs winning a contest and earning a restaurant as the prize brings a magic electricity to this restaurant's aura. Dare to dream of really good grits. There are some seriously good grits going on here, with lovely little shredded vegetables and a dukkah sprinkle on top. They are served with lamb that could be shanks. The meat is tender, but not spicy at all. A bespoke hot sauce would be a nice idea for the chefs to consider? We would get the grits whether the lamb is there or not. The tandoori chicken and waffles was juicy and delicious. The juice spurted out of the chicken. Lots of perfectly cooked, cubed sweet potato was served on top and all over, with a syrup. We would get this again too. We tried two cocktails - the sake daiquiri, which is sour and comes with a dried lime slice, and the moroccan oasis, which is sweet and comes with a saffron infused ice cube. The saffron stands out, and if you like sweet drinks and the flavor of saffron, this is for you. Even if the flavor is not your fave, it is fun to watch the ice cube melt and ponder over the miracle that is saffron, the stamen of a beautiful crocus and one of the most expensive spices in the world. The coffee service is charming - a small french press pot, plenty of cream in a small pitcher, and your choice of sweetener. A collection of interesting cooking reference books is on the wall shelves, including the Flavor Bible and some other books about spices. These are actual books here, not books by the yard, or books for a zoom background. None of the diners were reading their phones - they were talking with each other and sharing dishes. We will be back to try more fun things at this new adventure that has just popped up in downtown Ayer. read more

Visited Ravioli Theory yesterday for brunch and it was awesome. To start we had Thai Tea French toast, and Lamb meatball for apps, just absolutely awesome! Our group then had the RT Benedict, Breakfast hash, and Tandori chicken & waffles. All were excellent. I eat out often but my palate was awoken from the usual routine meals. One of the people in our group is a picky eater but he loved everything and cleaned his plate so that tells me he wasn't lying! Now to plan a dinner visit. read more
