Small-ish outfit near the golf course with about a dozen tables and a long bar with a few TV screens. Beer selections are minimal but just varied enough that you'll find something to your liking, whether mainstream or craft. The food menu is much deeper, nailing most of the pub food classics. As a burgers and wings guy, that was my focus, but there's enough greenery to satisfy my vegetarian wife too. GPH Burger: A well sourced blend, made into a patty of good thickness, grilled over an open flame, and housed in a potato bun with a generous allotment of toppings. Beautiful presentation, and most importantly, the flavor of the beef came through, never getting lost. You can order pink or no pink; I went pink, and on my first visit they nailed the temperature, color, and juiciness to go along with the crusty exterior. Good seasoning, and very enjoyable grill flavor. One of the best burgers I've had this year. Tried it again on a second visit, again requesting pink, but: a) not pink or juicy, and b) no flame grill flavor. Still a decent burger-- mostly because the addition of some nicely chewy and very strongly cured bacon picked up some of the slack. Third try, a repeat of the first, so two out of three ain't bad. Smashburger: Solid enough, though not as pronounced of surface crispness as a proper smashburger. Fries: Hand-cut, plentiful, dark, crispy, and just droopy enough. There's no salt on the table, but these were salted perfectly. Ketchup is an off brand, with a little more tartness than the standard, but it worked fine. Onion Rings: The thick ring, thick batter kind, and very crunchy. All depends on whether you like that style. Hot Dog: The menu lists them with fries included, but if you're already getting a burger, you can add one on without getting the extra fries. Toasted New England flat-sided bun, very juicy, grilled wiener, and toppings you can choose. Chili is a $3 add-on, but note there are beans included. I enjoyed mine and would get it again without the chili. Wings: Went Buffalo once, somewhat crisp, somewhat tender, nice sauce, with spices and seasonings, but not what I'd call Buffalo and not much coverage. These are baked, then fried, so missing a little something.went sweet chili on the next visit, and these were closer to the listed flavor and a little closer to wings that quench a wings craving. read more

I've passed this place 100 times over the years, but finally went in. I was certainly missing out. Absolutely fast and friendly service. The food is tremendous. They have a great to go system and servers are always so friendly and helpful (even to lively children!) good outdoor seating under a tent for larger groups and shaded patio for smaller groups. Indoor dining is more like a sports bar/pub. Food is awesome-large portions for what you're spending. Would honestly say everything there is tasty but the nachos, pretzel bites and fries are a 10/10. We have been to Groton Publick House many times before and have always enjoyed both the food and the service, which makes this experience especially disappointing. I would normally not leave a review like this, but the experience for so terrible I couldn't not say anything. On Saturday evening at 5pm, our group of six arrived and ordered drinks, appetizers, and entrées right away to make things easier for the server. Unfortunately, in the hour and a half we sat there, the only thing we received was our first round of drinks. Meanwhile, we watched other tables who arrived after us be served both their appetizers and entrées while we were still waiting. What made the situation worse was that our server never once came by to check in, refill drinks, or even acknowledge the delay. After waiting far too long with no updates, we finally gave up, paid for our drinks, and left. We've always liked this restaurant in the past, but this experience was very disappointing. We truly hope it was just an off night, but the lack of communication and attentiveness left us feeling let down. read more

We've been coming to the GPK since opening day. The atmosphere is small, quaint, and appealing to those who prefer a laid-back scene. That said don't be afraid to step in to watch the game or a game, GPK is equally welcoming to those who enjoy a good sports event. People often ask why I give five-star ratings to places like GPK, and it's because I compare it to other local hot spots. Bottom line, locally, you cannot beat the food, ambiance, and local charm of Groton. Golfers, play a round of golf and enjoy a drink with your fellow players at GPK. GPKs apps are spot on, especially the nachos, nom nom nom. One thing to keep in mind as well, GPKs build your burger is worth everything thing you add to it, no lie. Guacamole was excellent and meats smoked there. Beer choices were excellent, good bar. The wait staff is amazing and makes this little place enjoyable. Terrible management and absolutely no apology or discount for their fire alarm going off, not once but twice, inches from our family. We had to evacuate the building the first time and the staff didn't even acknowledge it. After my son and I had to run out of the building to escape the sound of the fire alarm being inches from our table for the 2nd time, I found out my husband paid full price for the "experience". After speaking to a staff member who answered the phone, she informed me that it wasn't their fault and that it was the town of Groton's fault...? She also went on to say that "if she comped everyone's lunch that they wouldn't make any money today." Not the brightest and no customer service skills. Patrons should have been both apologized to AND had their bills discounted for the inconvenience. It's proper etiquette. We should not have had to pay full price for that meal as stressful and inconvenient as it was. My toddler shouldn't have been inches from an extremely loud alarm no matter where he is seated. Horrible experience with no concern from staff. Unfortunately it isn't our first bad experience at GPH and my family is never going back. read more

After a round of golf at another course I will not name due to a bad experience, my brother and I needed a bite to eat. I found Groton Publick House via Yelp and just 4 miles away thought we'd give it a shot. It was mid-afternoon on a Thursday and the pub was empty. Sitting at the bar another patron came up to the bar and seeing us looking over the sparse menu over he volunteered recommending the burgers claiming they were the best. We took his advise. I went with a bacon burger with cheddar and the standard lettuce, tomato, onion with mayo and ketchup. I don't think it was the best burger I ever had but was definitely in the top percentile. The burger was perfectly cooked to my medium well liking and still juicy. The condiments and buns were fresh. It was a darn good burger. The truffle fries were a great tasty add. My brother enjoyed his burger as well and his side of sweet potato fries. Service was spot on, but then again it was just the two of us. We both left very happy. My husband and I used to come here this was the Groton Tavern. We loved it then. Now, not so much. I can't say anything about the food, however, I can speak on the service and LOUDNESS. Seriously....my husband, and I went with another couple last Friday night and we couldn't even hear ourselves! There wasn't even music happening....only people! My thing with loudness is there are ways to combat it...it's called acoustic tiles!!! Put them on the wall/ceiling and you have a fix! Makes things nicer for guests. :) They only had 2 servers on and they were covering both the bar and tables! While I felt bad for them, it felt like we were there forever. They may want to hire a bartender or 2 on busy nights? Once we got the check, we headed to another place for drinks and food. If they take care of the noise level and get more help, we might go back, but for now, it's a no go. read more

Great local pub like place for really good food. Wings are awesome and presented really well on a tray with tasty ranch. Ruben is amazing. Great ingredients clearly show through. Server was very friendly but probably need one more person as lunch crowd really was a lot for her. Interior is nicely done however the main 4 tables are just inside the door and could use a half wall to make it less like you are eating in the doorway. So so so so so good. The best food in Groton, possibly the best on the north of MA. I dream about this place. Pork nachos are insane, $24 for a full sheet, which if you're sharing with a few people might leave you some leftovers. Burgers and truffle fries were great. It's a from scratch kitchen, so things might take a while. 70% of the time I get take out. The ambiance of the restaurant is great though. Today my only complaints, when we ordered takeout-- $8 upcharge for extra pork on the nachos. Regular nachos $24. Extra pork would be $32. My boyfriend and I didn't know it would be an $8 up charge until we arrived, this is something we should have been informed of on the phone when we called. I also ordered a burger, asked for pink. When I got my burger it was burnt. It's a little annoying cause I paid $17 for a burger (made pink) and truffle fries ($1 upcharge). Nevertheless I love this place, every time I'm in Groton I come back. But-- since things are a little more expensive, I would appreciate a little bit better customer service and attention to detail on the food overall :) . read more

Oy. This was my first visit and I went with family who was giving this place a second shot. Unfortunately, it was a huge waste if a Friday night and we decided we officially will not be back. Everything (food, drinks, wait staff) took forever. It was a busy night but the place was just a disaster. It felt like everyone was running around like crazy...and nothing was actually getting done. I must say my buffalo wings were tasty, but I would have loved it if my beer was full alongside them. I would have even taken a water for God's sake! We ordered a second round of drinks before food arrived to the table and waited so long for it, that I actually went to the bar to retrieve them myself. The bartender gave me a bit of an attitude about it.....but maybe he missed the memo that we had been waiting at least 15 minutes for it. We've been going there since they opened and have always been happy with the service and food. This past Sunday ( 04/18/2021) we were disgusted with the quality in food. The oil was old as we could see by the color of the Fish and chips and my sons Crispy chicken burger. My sister ordered fish with Salad and I ordered the Cobb salad with chicken. My salad (the lettuce) tasted like it was prepared on the same cutting surface as the fish( I could smell the fish and taste it). My sisters fish was gray in color . When we finally left barely anyone ate anything. My sister and I refused to pay for our meals. The kids were hungry and ate what they could. Service was great. My concern is, when I looked in the kitchen it was all kids working in there. One more thing. THE MUSIC IS TO LOUD! The server and the clients keep having to repeat themselves.
