Pork Schnitzel with Dijon gravy, roasted potatoes, wrapped lemon, and sauerkraut.

They were very accommodating to 16 of us -- a table for 8 and two adjacent booths were perfect. Excellent service and food with a gourmet spin which was a nice surprise. I got an Oktoberfest special, Pork Schnitzel with Dijon gravy -- spectacular, and only $20.50 with roasted potatoes and peas!

Very quaint and relaxed place with consistently good food and drinks. I love chill night with chill food here. They do tacos well and have good salads. The staff is very friendly. We paid $87 in total.

Came here after a day exploring Concord and surrounding areas. The restaurant is fairly cute and cozy. You will likely wait for a table as it was fairly busy on a Friday evening, though it seemed like much less of a wait than other nearby restaurants. The food was very tasty and fresh. A give it only three stars based on a few factors. The food was good, but certainly overpriced. You can tell they are attempting to go for an upscale feel, but I think they'd do better if they were just more down to earth. Second, the service was incredibly slow. Our server was very nice, but it took honestly a ridiculous amount of time between each step of the process. From getting drinks to ordering food and getting the food and then, worst of all, paying for the meal. We eventually had to go find someone at the front to tell them we were waiting to pay so we could leave. Especially if you're going for upscale vibes, service needs to improve dramatically. For the food itself, would consider visiting again if in the area, but improvements in the other areas would help them greatly.

    Nachos

My friend and I headed to West Village Tavern for lunch after checking out the Concord Museum. I ordered the following for apps: nachos - they gave a generous portion with tons of chips and toppings. Had to take some back home as it was too good to throw out. Chips were fresh and crispy, and would rate this as 8.5/10. for entree: steak tips - the marinade was on point. I had left overs to bring back and my mom took a couple of bites and loved it. Mashed potatoes was decent, just needed a bit more seasoning. The asparagus was just a bit sad looking like it was overcooked but overall taste was there. Will rate this meal as 8/10. for dessert: churro donuts - it wasn't what I expected in terms of taste. There was a kick to the bite and I can't decide if I like it or not. Rating is 6/10. Service was great. There's only street parking but we lucked out. Overall will recommend :)

    Pork dumplings and beet salad

Amber and Donna are the best, they took such good care of us, we ate every bite of out beet and arugula salad and our dumplings. The drinks were also amazing. As a French Canadian I will totally back up the maple old fashioned, it was absolutely up to my standards!

well well well done kids burger

Dick N is really rooting for this place to survive, but they have a lot of work to do. They're at a goldmine location. People are starving for a place to grab a burger, steak, fancy salad, etc and some drinks at a reasonable cost (reasonable cost is certainly relative these days at all restaurants). Somehow I think that West Village is trying to be too much. The walk the line of filling the gap left by the 99 as the local bar to grab apps and beers, but at the same time trying to compete with 80 Thoreau, Woods Hill, and Nosh. They've got $95 glasses of whiskey while maintaining the same cheesy 99 decor. So are you fancy and pretentious or are you cookie cutter and down to earth? They need to find that middle ground. We've had some good meals there. Others so-so at best. I wouldn't want to be in the restaurant biz right now with inflation and labor issues, but that does not excuse West End from providing good service. Servers are friendly, but not trained to take feedback. Our last meal came with a kids burger ($15 w/choc milk) charred to hockey=puck-like texture, and baked haddock that got a overdose of salt Mrs Dick Nipples favorite dish and she was unable to eat it). Hey, it happens. But when you bring it to the servers attention and they can only offer an, "Ok, I'll let 'them' know'", something is not right. For the prices being charged, I'd expect that a manager would be ensuring all guests are relatively happy. I've never seen a manager on the floor here. The bar is not a bad place to hang out. But they missed out when the closed off the lounge area which now feels boxed in. Generally, people sitting in the lounge are ok being near the bar area, and appreciate having tv's with the game (like the 99). You can't get into Karma or Nosh (Nosh sets a low bar) on a Saturday at 6:30 pm. But we walked right into West Village and were sat immediately. There should be people lined up to eat here (especially with Chang An closing down). 2.5 stars but I rounded it up to a 3 as I'm hopeful West End can figure it out for their own good, the good of the people, the town of Concord, and for people everywhere who like to eat and drink.

We ordered drinks and had food, and it was all wonderful. We loved the speakeasy, vibe, the custom cocktails, and the impressive and carefully curated alcohol options at the bar. The service was wonderful and friendly. We thought, oh great, this is going to be our go to place in town, we'll be here frequently! Our next visit was completely different. I called ahead of time to check on availability, mention that we prefer to sit at the bar, and confirm that they do not take reservations at the bar, but that there were tables available. So we had it in. When we arrived, we clearly saw at least four open seats at the bar. But we were informed that those seats were reserved. I mentioned that I had just called to confirm that there were seats available and confirmed that bar seats could not be reserved. Well, that was perplexing. And there was no genuine apology, no mention that they might be sorry about the confusion, let us see what we can do... Ultimately, the hostess, did checked with some folks and found that there was a table that we could have. So we sat down for our meal. The service this night was decidedly different, and we couldn't help feeling like we'd forced our way into a private club that we really weren't welcomed at. That was a few months ago, and we haven't been back since.

Today I gave it a try and felt that it was good in some areas and just ok in others. Overall the food tasted pretty healthy despite having pork belly and chorizo. The seasoning was definitely on the lighter side, where the french onion soup was tasting pretty close to an extremely light broth. Tried the cassoulet which I've heard of before but never seen on a menu. It was very hearty but also a but bland. Pulled pork and pork belly seemed to have zero salt. Duck leg confit also very bland. It was cooked well but just bland. The dishes with citrus were quite tasty. Beets and arugala salad very good, good quality goat cheese. Alligator chorizo grilled oysters surprisingly good. Never had alligator chorizo before but it was crispy and not fatty even though it resembled bacon visually. The oysters were small, even more small in comparison to the chorizo but it was a good bite. I would recommend skipping the clam chowder, french onion soup (not really caramelized onions to be honest), and the cassoulet unless you feel empowered to salt your own food. The clientele was definitely in the 60+ range. Nothing wrong with that obviously but tastes change with age and maybe thats why the seasoning was so light. Today there were just two wait staff for the whole place. Seemed understaffed and it took almost thirty minutes for food to come out. Waiting for the check took about fifteen minutes. Staff was nice but definitely overloaded. Today was a holiday though.

We had a reservation for a celebratory dinner, and I commented to ask if the special would still be on for that date. The chef/owner responded immediately that it would. Knowing specials often run out quickly, I called on the morning of the reservation, and a hostess said, yes, the special was still on. So we got there, we ordered, and we asked for the special -- the waitress said she'd confirm, and then came back and just said 'no, it was just for that day,' which was confusing. I explained that the chef and the hostess had confirmed that it was still on the menu and asked if it had run out -- again, understandable -- and she said it 'was just something we made for an influencer.' At that point, I didn't want to press the two 'no' answers, so we finished the dinner and moved on. I reached out privately after the fact as I wanted to see if there was a better way I could have communicated to the restaurant or asked for clarification, and asked if there was a better way to confirm information moving forward, and they never responded. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be back.

But what brings up my rating and gets me coming back (5 times and counting) is the variety, including more traditional Mexican dishes than the standard Tex-Mex, the very good drinks, the ambience, and great service. On my first visit the first thing I noticed is the "Luna" branding. The name and logo are on everything: the plates, the waiters' aprons, moon stencils on the chair backs, and more. This doesn't detract from the overall look and feel of the place, elegant but not stuffy. One more "luna" allusion: instead of chips with salsa they serve a large round crispy flat bread, presented vertically and obviously meant to suggest a full moon. Many people would probably prefer chips but that's a Tex-Mex thing so this is actually more authentic. And you won't fill up as easily munching on broken-off pieces of the "moon bread" as you would tortilla chips. The taco entree is 3 tacos, several varieties available, served with refried beans. I've had the chorizo and the Al Pastor. Mix and match not allowed unfortunately. They are both ok, and the tortillas are I believe made in house. The chorizo spicing was unimpressive. My chief "complaint" if that's the right word, is they are too simple: just the protein, some chopped onions, and cilantro. In my memory of great tacos I've had in the past there are a multitude of flavors and ingredients: onions prepared 2 or even 3 ways, sautéed and raw peppers, fresh avocado slices, etc. None of that here. Specialty sauces aren't offered by default but are provided on request. Two were brought to my table, one red and one green, both very hot. In small bowls so I don't know if they are home-made or commercial. I like a lot of sauce and always run out so next time I'll ask for a "double portion" and we'll see how that goes. The wife has had the beef fajitas. In my opinion the meat was overly marinated, with the wrong consistency and a flavor I don't expect in a fajita. And the vegetables were cooked with the meat so their flavor was muted. I'd pass on that. The Pollo Mole Poblano (chicken mole) was decent but there wasn't enough sauce. As was the enchiladas 3 ways (one each with chicken, beef, and cheese). Most entrees are served with a side of rice and refried beans, the latter served in a small fried tortilla cup. Portion sizes are reasonable. On the traditional Mexican side I've tried two meat-heavy entrees: Borrego Matitito's (marinated lamb shank with chili pepper sauce), and Chamorro's (a similar dish but made from pork shank, and different seasonings). I liked both but preferred the lamb, and the portion was larger too: enough for two meals. In the appetizer section I've had Pulpo Rasurado (octopus in salsa negra with red onions, cucumber, avocado, and radishes). A beautiful presentation and perfectly prepared (octopus can be tough and this was not). Also the Oysters Rockerfeller (not Mexican, I know). This could have been great but unfortunately was under-grilled so the cheese wasn't browned and bubbling. The table-side finishing treatment by the waiter with his hand torch wasn't enough either. Maybe he got impatient or maybe the butane was running out. I'd try it again though; it might have been an anomaly. Both these appetizer portions were huge, almost enough for a meal in itself. All the cocktails I've tried (several mescal concoctions and margaritas) have been tasty and seemed to have adequate alcohol content. Their gimmick here is all cocktails arrive bubbling and steaming like a witch's brew. I think it's from dry ice? That doesn't change the taste but may help to keep them cold and it's fun to watch. I've seen this before but usually it's reserved for one or two of the high-end specialties, not every cocktail. Nevertheless, the prices are in the normal range for cocktails these days, not excessive by that standard. Service has always been friendly and flawless. Desserts: We've tried two: The Pan de Elote is a cornbread cake served with ice cream and sauce, flambéed by the waiter at the table. And the churros: fried dough sticks covered with cinnamon, stuffed like cannoli, served with two sauces for dipping (chocolate and caramel), and served in a whimsical wheeled contraption resembling a food cart in miniature. The Pan de Elote is my favorite of the two but the churros were good too and the portion size was enormous! So until I can get back to Florida for some truly great Mexican I'm grateful to have Luna as an option.
