Cool décor and fun cocktails. Went for après dinner drinks. Was able to grab seats and have two drinks each - the drinks weren't amazing, but prices were reasonable and the vibes were legit. I'd say more 4.5 vs 5 stars but I've learned in school that you round up if it's .5 or higher lol.

This bar was a very festive experience indeed. It's surrounded by plants which give off an earthy and relaxing vibe. I got some sort of piña colada with a twist and it was delicious. Shoutout to the bartender who recommended me it!!!! I will definitely be back here again for sure

Came here on a chill Wednesday night. The place is literally filled with plants everywhere (living up to the name). They even have Lunar New Year decorations up, which was a festive touch. I really enjoyed their "Call Me When It's Over" mocktail, it was sweet & refreshing. There's also a special Lunar New Year menu, which was fun to explore. The music was so good I ended up asking the bartender what playlist it was, turns out it's their own on SoundCloud, which honestly tracks because the vibe was on point. Bartender was super friendly, and the bar itself has so many cute little areas to sit, whether you want to tuck away or be more social. Also, underrated detail: hooks at the bar for your bags.

My favorite bar in SF! If you love plants in a beautiful casual bar with tasty and creative cocktails (and mocktails), as well as festive decor and drinks for holidays, this is the spot for you! A perfect place for hanging out with friends or on a date. There are tables and nooks to sit inside including a comfy couch. The interior design is gorgeous throughout, even the bathroom. Just love seeing the decorations during the holiday months like Halloween, Christmas, and Lunar New Year while trying the festive drinks! The decorations are done by hand by the owner! The owners, Lauren and Heather, are so incredible, super welcoming and fun! Just an amazing bar to stop by any time of the year, but they do host engaging events -- like plant giveaways! I've gotten some beautiful clippings from plants grown right in the bar to take home. At Plantsgiving, you can win whole plants! Other events: Halloween costume contest, cookie decoration contest, and they know how to make a stunning food spread for Friendsgiving and Lunar New Year! All events are posted on their Instagram. Favorite drinks: - night after night (their most popular): refreshing with pineapple and coconut cream - apple of my rye: like an old fashioned with apple and a hint of spices - spice spice baby: rum with pumpkin, cinnamon, and salted cream - Pear pressure (shot): mezcal blended in-house with pear - Call me when it's over (mocktail): so refreshing, best mocktail I've had Definitely check it out!

Great bar with creative drinks and garden vibes! My friend and I stopped in on a Friday around 8pm and were able to grab one of the last open tables. If you come with a larger group, you may want to come earlier to get a booth. They had a special tequila cocktails menu going until 9pm, but these were a bit too creative for our taste LOL so we ordered off the regular menu, which honestly was also quite unique compared to other bars. - Yesterday is Gone: tea-based cocktails aren't super common in the US yet, so I was super excited to see this. It was so good and refreshing, and the salted sesame added a little twist to the flavor profile. - Sticky Situation: a mango sticky rice inspired cocktail! Loved the concept, but it was a bit too sweet, especially toward the end. In this economy, it was refreshing to see drinks priced reasonably at $16 too. They also have a selection of mocktails, though it's hard for me to justify non-alcoholic drinks costing the same as cocktails lol. It was pretty dark inside and the music was quite loud, so just something to be aware of if you're sensitive to that. Might not be the best for a first date because it was a little hard to hear, but def a good spot for friends to hang out. Others have mentioned the location in the tenderloin isn't the best, but honestly as an SF native, it's on the edge of the neighborhood and not that bad compared to other streets - don't let that deter you from coming! The drinks are worth it and I'll definitely be back.

I looooved Propagation. Lots of unique seating and a great, beautiful ambiance. The plants were stunning there was a great atmosphere to the place. The bartenders were truly so friendly and kind. Pretty much all of their cocktails are $16, which felt reasonable given the unique and interesting menu. I'd love to go back and taste more of their drinks!

As a big plant lover, I really wanted to love Propagation -- the greenery-filled concept is adorable. But the vibe missed for me. The music was loud and not great, the lighting felt way too dark, and my drink just didn't hit (especially for $16). Cute idea, but the experience didn't live up to the aesthetics.

I was doing what seemed like a tour of all the cocktail bars in this area haha and this place didn't disappoint!! It felt like I was walking into a nursery and I LOVED IT. I don't know how they take care of all those plants because mine always die but it was beautiful. The bartender was so nice and funny too. Drinks were great. I'm a fan for sure. Beautiful space. I'm excited to bring groups of friends here and I could personally sit here and work for hours!!!! The good: - Immaculate vibe. Good, chill music and lots of greenery to make me happy. - a nice, wide selection of drinks The meh: - they could up the design of their cups... mine had a big ice cube that was too big for the cup itself.... - only one of the three drinks we had was balanced. I've heard a lot about this bar and was expecting a little more. Maybe it was an off day. - we had to walk up and bring our cocktails to our table, which is fine but for a nice craft cocktail bar with only one other set of customers at the time, I'd expect them to bring it to us.

Decked out in holiday spirit this spot is the brainchild of a plant lover and mixologist for sure! Or maybe my boyfriend was pulling my leg. Either way the vision is 10/10! The service was pretty prompt given there was a large private event happening in part of the bar. The ambiance was so fun, and the holiday drinks were yummy! We tried the holiday high ball and the mulled wine offerings.

This is such a cute spot to meet for drinks. The vibe is low key and I love the amount of plants they have around. That said, after having gone a few times now their drinks are mostly good. The Gardner's Daughter and How Things Were are pretty good! However, I can't remember the name but it was gin with a splash of olive juice and some other stuff. It sounded super interesting however it missing something. It tasted that the first part of an interesting Bloody Mary but really just fell flat. I'll definitely come back. Definitely recommend it read more

I really enjoyed this place. The space is super cute and filled with plants EVERYWHERE, so obviously the decor is very inviting and pleasant. This is a great spot for a small group of friends or a one on one, but what's to really rave about here are the drinks. They're amazingly crafted. One of the better places I've been to! read more

I just stopped here with some friends to have a cocktail. I was served a glass of red wine that was cold as hell. I mean, freezing cold. Think frost on the glass. I've been a wine collector for decades. The bartender was good enough to tell me that this was the "new thing". Ugh. Other than that, it seemed to be a very charming place and I'd be happy to try it again. Know up front, drinks are not cheap here. read more

Did I get day drunk here on a Saturday afternoon with my friend? Yes. Were the cocktails absolutely delicious? Also, yes. Such a fun place. Loved the vibe, from the decor, to the owners, to the bartenders, to the table by the window that was perfect for taking fancy IG pictures. Happy Anniversary Propagation! Me and my girlfriend live a few blocks from here. We first came when Melissa King of Top Chef fame posted about it on their instagram and mentioned that it was owned and ran by another lesbian couple. Off we went! The drinks here are incredible, and incredibly diverse. If you are craving something strong and bitter, they have a signature cocktail for you but also make a mean negroni. Something sweet and fruity? Subtle and creamy? They will probably have a cocktail on their menu for you to enjoy. On occasion I like to get the mocktails because I don't drink too much. They are always happy to make something special if you aren't drinking. The space itself is gorgeous. Plants everywhere and a great combo of classic and mid mod furniture. I've actually taken pictures of some furniture pieces they have to try to incorporate it in to our own home! The staff is always sweet. We usually are recognized now, but even staff we have never seen before are so friendly. And.... THE BATHROOMS! As two lesbians, one of which doesn't conform to traditional gendered appearances, bathroom safety is important. These are gender neutral and beautiful. read more

I was looking for an afternoon cocktail spot and found this place on Yelp. The reviews, photos, and IG all suggested a cool spot with beautifully crafted drinks. The interior was great but drinks were disappointing. I ordered two drinks and both had a mediocre presentation (see photo) and the mezcal drink was watered down. My companion ordered the same drink twice and said that it tasted inconsistent. Frankly, it felt like we wete falsely advertised to. The TL isn't anyone's top choice for a neighborhood and I would think twice before coming back. read more

One of the best new businesses to come out of the pandemic. We've been anticipating the opening of this neighborhood gem and were not disappointed. We came with our dog on a sunny Thursday and were greeted so warmly by one of the owners. The space is super cute and Instagram-worthy. Drinks were unique and refreshing. As a frequent bar patron, I consider myself a good judge of service and this new spot was a big fail for me. The service was cold, flat and lazy. When I walked in, the host was on her phone and took her sweet time to come over and check me in. There is no table service. You have to order at the bar and bring your drinks to your table. Not sure how a bunch of people standing around the bar waiting to order is safer than ordering from their seat/table??! The music is so loud that the bartenders can barely hear you, which with masks is even more difficult. I asked the female bartender if a drink was spirit forward, she said yes and it was freaking citrus. She also screwed up on the order by making something I no longer wanted. I still paid for both and tipped 25% cause I'm not a total shit. But she either wasn't listening or didnt hear me. It felt really awkward standing there waiting for my drinks to be made. The neighborhood is super sketch. Parking is tough and risky. I definitely don't plan to return and would discourage others as well given the other options in the area. What a service disappointment! Maybe check the pretentiousness. read more

Great ambiance, plants everywhere and the music is a VIBE (modern r&b hits)! Drinks are unique and delish (a little pricy but hey, it's SF). Their snack mix is good too. Hand for scale. Will def be coming back. I got the "NIGHT AFTER NIGHT" the coconut cream is a great addition and it's very refreshing. If you're looking for a great concept bar, you HAVE to come here! The bar is covered in beautiful plants, which makes it an intimate, cozy bar. It's dog friendly. Great drinks and friendly service! I'm really glad to see this bar succeed even during the pandemic. They also took a lot of precautions around COVID and had outdoor seating available. All around the best bar in SF! The staff and owners are very welcoming and friendly. The ambiance is perfect for a date night, hanging out with friends, or even grabbing a quick drink alone. Well this is a pretty nice bar right here on the Lower Nob Hill. The plants and flowers here add a nice organic touch to the place. I really the cocktails they serve here, albeit a bit pricey. Then again, a lot of things are getting a bit expensive these days. I might return here soon. read more

Would never have learned about this place if not for the sister of the or one of the owners. Don't know how it normally looks, but it was (and likely still is) beautiful for the holidays (still going on). Really great selection of cocktails and some very creative ones. Very pleasant service. Seating can be a challenge so time it right. Noise level was perfect--did not have to yell to converse (which I hate). read more

Had the most amazing drinks, live around the corner super new to the area. I'm going to be honest y'all I'm from Salinas Ca. Lived in Modesto Ca. Never in my life experienced this type of service. Delicious drinks amazing welcoming staff (bartenders) it makes me want to enjoy a night here ever single night. I feel at home as soon as i walk in, warm greeting fresh plants all around me and the exquisite taste of these exotic delicious well prepared drinks. One of the best cocktail bars we have been to, and we have been to many having lived in NYC and LA. The decor and plants are a cozy and inviting. The drinks are unique and phenomenal! There is such a wide variety of unique cocktails as well as classics. The bartenders are friendly and great and added bonus we met the owners who are down to earth and great. We will definitely come back every time we are in town. A must go if you're looking for amazing cocktails and great vibes. Perfect to go with friends or an intimate date night. read more

Came here at night for the aesthetics and was disappointed to find that the entire bar was so dimly lit that I couldn't see anything, people or plants. They also had club music blaring very loudly so I could barely hear my friend or have a normal conversation through my time there. The drinks we tried were actually very tasty, but the environment was uncomfortable and the service was just okay. I am willing to come back to give the place another shot during happy hour or during the day, but would not come back here at night. read more

Love the vibe here! Somehow Propagation manages to be quaint, lush, and modern all at the same time. Great place for ladies night with your 3 besties. Another female guard then popped up randomly and essentially told me to "fix my delivery" and that the man was her brother. To which I replied, that they were both ultimately in the wrong. He told us we could move over to the wall; which we discovered was right next to the restrooms and the line of users. Not cool. We then noticed that the larger group had spread out and taken our spot; were we supposed to believe these were the supposed "reservation" holders and not just your friends? Overall, just another mediocre bar that caters to the people they know. Not much concern for new customers, so we have no interest in returning or recommending to anyone. Plenty of other bars in the city; better bars that won't make you feel inferior.

The staff is the absolute best! The bartenders are very kind, knowledgeable, and make delicious drinks. The owners are also very professional and friendly, ensuring that each guest feels right at home. To top it all off the bar itself is beautifully decorated and has a nice ambiance.
