My first photo is from my first visit. The donut is really good. The coffee is hot brewed coffee that you can self serve do up with cream / sugar. But i like to eat the donut and then take a swig of coffee and it is.... well now my second photo is from right now where i have returned not 2 days later :) i had appts nearby and walked around to see if i could try anything else but found myself back here! the service is fast, kind and good. Got a double hamburger combo with thai tea and chocolate donut for 17 and change., worst burger ever! The meat was rubbery and seemed expired, no taste and disgusting texture, never experienced such a terrible burger in my life, the fries were okay but not salted. Thai tea was good. I was skeptical, the Asian young guy who took my order was kinda insecure with me like if I'm going to flirt with his girlfriend/co worker, he was super close to her and being all touchy . I've always passed this place on my way to the UPS store, and I consider myself a donut connoisseur but since it's Cash Only and I rarely carry cash I never had a chance to stop but today was different! I went to the outdoor window and the owner was kind and efficient in taking my order. I ordered a Raised Glaze, Maple and a Glaze Buttermilk, Chocolate Old Fashioned and two Strawberry Sprinkle Cakes for the kid. These donuts were all fresh! The buttermilks which I rarely get if ever were moist and crisp at the same time, I may add to my rotation of donuts now. The raised glaze was fluffy and sticky as it should be. Have been going here for a long time. Last few times it was closed. Went today and there was someone working there who had never been there before. Ordered a cinnamon roll and a buttermilk maple bar. After a Cub Scout home this morning, my sons wanted donuts. I have a soft spot for Pronto. I grew up a block away and remember walking there with my Grandpa! 30 years later and I can now take my kids! Such great memories! Anyway, on to the donuts. I can't really complain, minus it being cash only. The donuts are fresh and moist! The employees are always welcoming. Donuts are hands down one of my favorite foods. With that being said I can be very picky when it comes to donuts. I have been looking for a reliable, go-to donut shop near my house. I'm all for those trendy donut shops with crazy creations but sometimes I just want a classic. The first donut I ever tried here was a glaze twist. If a donut shop can't make a good basic glaze then I usually don't trust that the rest would be good. A regular glaze is plain and boring, I know. But it is honestly one of my favorites. When I think of donuts I think of this classic. It was also my favorite as a kid. Well after one bite I knew this place was going to be my go to. It was for one, huge, and fluffy. It was so soft and just covered in glaze. It was honestly the best and in my opinion better than Donut Man. Little by little I've tried more selections and with everyone my taste buds are in heaven! Like most places, the donuts are best in the morning when they are fresh. It's a small donut shop and so I don't expect them to be making a ton throughout the day. There is a decent amount of seating inside. Sign says cash only and I've never tried to pay with a card. So play it safe and bring cash. The outside window is so convenient for an on the go pick up. In my opinion, this is a reliable place. I have never had a problem with the service as I've seen other reviews mention. They are always polite and quick to serve. I had to run next door to the UPS Store and drop off a package -- and one of the rituals that I partake of is that of getting a few donuts from Pronto's to go. I usually go for the Apple Fritters, Cinnamon Roll, Crumb Cinnamon Roll, etc. This time, however, I opted for their Glazed Buttermilk donuts and they were amazing and cost .80 cents each (or roughly that much). They were amazing -- my new favorites. They get a lot of business and there may or may not be folks outside of the window waiting to place an order. Pronto's offers great donuts at great prices. Many summer nights I will come here with friends (literally groups of 15 or more) and get some donuts as a late night snack. There is a handy little walk-up window that stays open late and allows easy access for donut sales. I would suggest the maple buttermilk donut: it's the best donut I've ever eaten. It's dense yet light, and offers an amazing sweet maple taste. I'm sure all of their donuts are great, but that is my favorite. OMG Pronto's! My aunt used to live pretty close to Pronto's and on my way home (about 2 miles away) my mom would take my sister and me to Pronto's for their orange chicken. We were ADDICTED. Eventually my mother and her unique tactic of raising her five children brought home a catering size foil pan of orange chicken and said we can eat it every day for dinner as long as it lasted... we got through 2 meals of it and were DONE with Pronto's and their orange chicken As for their donuts, they will do... the last time I had a donut from pronto's a 20 year old guy was buying me and my 16 year old high school friends donuts...I guess there are worse things teenagers could have been doing besides eating donuts from strangers. Normally I'm not picky when it comes to service (it's a donut shop, what do you expect?), but I was truly horrified at how awful the "service" was at this donut shop. It was so awful that it was actually laughable. I went one night with a couple of friends to pick up some donuts for a midnight snack. I used to walk here from my Grandma's house with 50 cents in my pocket. That was over 25 years ago. I can still can. This place is a sometimes Chinese take out and a full time donut walk up. Like those places in the Mid-Wilshire area of town. As others have noted, their donuts are bigger than usual, and also less oily/greasy. This is a huge plus, since this is the main thing that sets most donut places apart from others. The apple fritters are, as best I can recall, the biggest I've ever had. The donuts, as far as taste and texture, are solid. They're not over-fried (a problem especially common when it comes to fritters). I don't know that donuts can be mind-blowingly good, but if that's possible, these donuts probably don't quite hit that mark. There is absolutely nothing offensive about them -- again, they're good, solid donuts. They have good hours (open early, close at 11 even on weeknights). They only take cash. There is plenty of free parking for access to the complex. The service is quick and, like the donuts, bears nothing ot take offense at. Overall, a solid donut place you can safely suggest to friends and family. The large sizes especially make this a better-than-average shop. There's nothing to write home about here, but for your donut needs, it's certainly a good choice. The fifth star is withheld only because there might be a truly extraordinary donut shop out there which this one does not quite compare to. But the missing star is in no way a reflection of any deficiency of Pronto's. read more
