Welcomed by a lady in the middle of doing dishes. Glad to see cleaning. The selection is limited. They did have some Mexican style breads. The coffee was fresh and hot. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has some indoor seating available with limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was grabbing my dessert from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is incredibly tiny. I usually avoid parking in this tiny parking structure because there are so many terrible drivers who don't pay attention in this parking lot. I usually just park on the street and walk over. Plus, the parking spots are a bit small and tight. Food: I ordered a chocolate glazed donut. Perfect breakfast food with my Starbucks coffee. It was just the right pick me up that I needed at 6am. Cinnamon roll here is quite good. It is located in a strip plaza that's not super convenient to turn into but it's a solid option. That said, if you are near the shop you might as well drive down a bit more to Rose Donuts where they have a better cinnamon roll and generally more options, donuts and sandwiches. read more

A good donut shop and I guess that's something LA is known for, a bunch of mom and pop donut shops. I stopped in because I had some time to kill and I was a little hungry so I got a bacon and egg breakfast sandwich on a croissant. I wasn't expecting much but I was surprised at how quick and honestly, how good it was. After checking out some other places though, it's something that's just expected around here. On the way to Santa Anita Mall, we got hungry, so we found Donut King on Yelp and stopped for a couple of donuts. I got a glaze twist ($0.85) and my friend got a chocolate raised ($0.85). My donut was good, light, fluffy, and tasty. I enjoyed it very much, then felt guilty afterwards. haha. When we went to Donut King, it was around 9:45am, so there weren't too many donuts in the display. The ham and cheese croissant is delicious! Not sure what kind of cheese it is, but it was sweet and perfect for the ham and buttery croissant. Also, it was a very good size, not some tiny cafe croissant. The apple fritter was amazing. So perfectly crisp on the outside when you bite into it and soft on the inside. $0.90 for a plain glazed yeasted donut! Money well spent. My donut was super soft and pillowy on the inside, but somehow more substantial than other yeasted donuts I have eaten. The glaze was sweet, but not cloyingly so. This store doesn't have super fancy offerings, but this is a solid place to get your donut fix. read more

I used to go here all the time with my dad when I was a kid because it was down the street from our house. Life happened, I stopped coming, and I only recently went back. The donuts are still how I remember--light and fluffy. The Asian man working the counter today was so so nice and happy. His energy definitely brightened up my rainy day. I base my reviews on whether or not I will ever return. The donuts were good, sure. Nothing to write home about. My beef is they seemed very expensive. A dozen for $10 is the most I have ever paid. Is this the going rate? Also no bakers dozen or donut hole extras? Sure they don't have to, but it seems to be the norm with most mom and pop donut shops. I purchased 2 dozen for work for $20, exactly 12 donuts each box and no extras. My regular shop gives me 13 donuts per dozen AND extra holes for $8.95/dozen. Any time I want to buy donuts, I head here. The donuts are cheap (to me) and very tasty. (Example of cheap is 2 dozen donuts, plus 2 maple bars and an apple fritter for just under $17). I normally just eat the donuts, but I had an apple fritter yesterday after seeing Josh's review that they are the best ever. It's the first one I'd had in a very long time, so I didn't remember what they were like. I'll say this about them: you will get several days' worth of sugar when you eat one! I reserve a 5 Star rating on donut shops for Monterey Donuts, which shut down last year due to a fire. Monterey Donuts had THE BEST donuts ever. Big, moist, dense. The holy trinity for donuts. I love this place. Walking in you'll be greeted (95%) of the time, by what I assume is the owner, all smiling and happy. I wish someday I can just sit down with him and hear his story. The workers are very nice especially the elderly gentlemen. He's always happy and smiling and greeting you when you walk in. Their donuts are some of the best donuts I've had. Its light and fluffy, and not dry at all. I usually come in for the donut holes, but when they sell out i'll settle for a donut. The prices are reasonable, and considering it's a Ma and Pa type of shop, i'll always return to help support the local business. If you have the time, you should swing by and give them a chance. Being down the block from my house, I grabbed a Butter Croissant from Donut King for breakfast and BOY! am I on cloud 9 right now. What a way to start my day! There was a beautiful crispy shell, nice and warm around the croissant. After breaking the flakey goodness, I was invited to enjoy the moist, warm, fleshy part of the croissant. Buttery and soft, it was every bit what a delicious croissant at 6am should have been. I'm still feeling dreamy just thinking about it... Located on the northwest corner of the intersection of Duarte and Rosemead, sharing the same lot as 7-Eleven, Donut King offers its patrons a good selection of donuts, croissants, donut holes, and coffee. After having Yum Yum Donuts, Winchell's, Krispy Kreme, and other non-franchised donut shops, I'd have to say that Donut King is my #1 hands down. It may be out of the sheer convenience that it's right down the street from my house, but their quality has been consistently great for the last 15 years I've been eating there. With the economy as it is, of course prices have gone up. I remember when their donuts were .55 each and their croissants were .85 each. This morning, I was sad to find that plain donuts and devil cake donuts were .75 ea and glazed donuts, bars, and other donut essentials were .80ea. The butter croissant I'm now longing for was $1.25. I do believe that a dozen assorted donuts will run you $7.00~$7.50, but that's quite good if you think about it. Oh yeah - and the donut holes are .10 each! All of their donuts have a good, soft middle, and are never too overpoweringly sweet. The cake donuts all have a good, firmness about them, while the other donuts are fluffy and airy. The donut I fell in love with, courtesy of Donut King, is the French Krueller (sp?). Although its patterned ridges and funky colored frosting give it a funny appearance, every bite into this gave a cool, airy sensation like you were biting into chilled pudding. The air pockets in this bad boy are simply heavenly. The same Vietnamese guy has been working here since I can remember and he's always so cheerful and friendly. If you look up consistency in the dictionary, I'm sure this guy's picture can be found there. If you're in the Arcadia/Temple City/San Gabriel area, I'd suggest you bring your donut business to Don't King. I've been living in San Gabriel for 5 years now. I have been passing by the store and didn't even think to check them out. However, one day, I needed to buy 2 dozens of donuts for my kid's swim meet really early morning, and oh boys, I'm so glad I did go there, simply it's the closest to my house and it's very reasonable. Each dozen is $8.25. I believe the owner said the store business hours is 5am - 7pm every day? Normally I don't crave sweets that much, but their donuts are so fluffy and easy sweet! I can taste it's been made fresh every morning. My family returned to this lovely small donut store a couple times after the first visit and each single time, is the consistent freshness, and the owner seems to be really nice and friendly. read more

They have a decent selection of classic glazed, cinnamon-coated, maple bars and chocolate-covered doughnuts. This place really does have the best apple fritters of any donut place around. The other varieties are good too, especially the old fashioned and buttermilk bars. They also have good coffee--it never tastes burnt or stale, even if you get it at night. (The coffee is cheaper than 7-11 or McDonald's too.) They close early on Sundays, at 12 noon. read more

OK - so I've probably driven past this place a hundred times and never tried it. I'm glad I did. I consider myself a donut lover and am loyal to Uncle Joe's and more recently, to Gladstone's and this place deserves to be ranked up there with my icons. Their donuts are little lighter in texture with less glaze which would make them popular with those who are put off by density and high sucrose content (which I am not!). These neighborhood donut shops like the donut king are a dying breed. As business gets worse, quality (and quantity) gets worse and prices go up. The video shop next door had already went out of business a couple years ago. It's an unfortunate reality. Hopefully the neighborhood can continue to support it. That said, there are some better shops nearby at the same prices and with more selection. I've tried a few and this is my unbiased opinion. You should try them all at least once. 3 stars for average. read more
