This is very long overdue, but I cannot recommend Pronto Ikea Assembly and Delivery highly enough! The men helping us, Mamba and Robert, were prompt, efficient, and incredibly friendly. They picked us up on time from Ikea, loaded our purchases into their van, brought us to our house in Astoria, and quickly, nonobtrusively built all our furniture. Both Mamba and Robert were incredibly kind; we wound up ordering pizza for them, and we even gave them leftover ice that we bought for Hurricane Sandy (that's how late I am in writing this review!) so they could donate it to a homeless shelter. Overall, they are a trustworthy, capable service that I would definitely use again. read more

Pronto Assembly is fast, professional and friendly. I called pronto assembly on a referral from my sister who had used their services in 2009 and had excellent things to say about the company. I sent an email listing all the Ikea furniture I needed assembled and they replied promptly with a fair and reasonable price quote. We agreed on an installation date and they called that day to confirm the date and time. They arrived on time and immediately began assembling the bed and 4 chest of drawers I had ordered. They brought their own tools, were friendly and cleaned up spotlessly after themselves. (They also hung two mirrors on the wall at my request.) The best part of this review is the following. Pronto discovered that the headboard on the Ikea bed had been damaged (probably during Ikea delivery). Since I had limited mobility in terms of transportation, Pronto agreed to pick up the damaged headboard, take it to Ikea with the receipt to have it exchanged, bring the new headboard back to my apartment and completely fix the bed AT NO EXTRA CHARGE! I was blown away at their commitment to finishing the job !!! Definitely get Pronto to deliver and assemble your furniture. Best customer service EVER !!! read more

The worst part of getting Ikea furniture is when you can't put it together correctly and have spent 4 hours of your life cursing the screws that never seem to be the right size. These guys know what they are doing and they make your furniture look a lot better than how you could have made it. They are quick, cheap, (if you're not sure, e-mail them for a quote and decide if it's worth it for you. Chances are, it will be). They even have a concierge service where they will pick up the furniture for you, deliver, AND assemble it. I haven't done that but if I was planning on making a big Ikea run, I would seriously consider it. Would definitely use them again. read more

James and Mamba came to the rescue when we moved this week! The first time we called Pronto was last year (the day after I had given birth) when our Pax wardrobe door broke and glass shattered everywhere. We needed to replace it right away especially for the safety of our newborn daughter and they helped us by picking up the new doors and installing them right away. They made it SO easy for us, truly lifesavers! I called them again when we moved this month to come disassemble and reassemble our Pax wardrobe for our move and they showed up on time for both. Not only did they re-build my ikea wardrobe but they helped me hang up every single thing I needed hung up that same day. I have a giant photograph that weighs atleast 150lbs and they hung it up perfectly as if they have worked in an art gallery. Mounted my TV, hung up curtains, full lenth mirror, etc. These guys are professional, cool, trustworthy and super, super nice.. I cant recommend them enough!! You know how when you buy something at IKEA and you think "I can totally put this together myself!" and then you get home and make a mess of it and you wish someone would just come fix it for you....? This is who you call. I was lucky enough to get Mamba (see his other reviews here) who was on time, professional, knowledgable and downright amazing. It was not cheap but I don't think it was overly expensive either - the price was right. I paid exactly what I was quoted and he put in a solid two hours of work and it was worth every penny. He also made a few recommendations for my entertainment center that I am going to follow. They will also go pick up what you need from Ikea and bring it to you. So impressed with these guys. I can't believe I ever tried to put ikea furniture together on my own. On Wednesday I inquired about having a pax delivered and installed. The response time was great and by thursday at 5pm everything was delivered and installed. I didn't have to lift a finger except to be home for them to arrive. I never imagined ikea could look so good in an apartment, given my experience putting it together myself. Ron and Waldon (I think I got the names right) were complete professionals. They gave me regular updates throughout the morning regarding the pick up and then the delivery. They worked very clean and were really nice. Absolutely great service. read more

I recently used Pronto Assembly to handle my Ikea delivery and assembly. I just moved to NYC and had to buy all of my furniture, needless to say that is quite a few items. When I realized I needed to help with grabbing all of the furniture, they quickly dropped off one of their handymen who was then able to help me carry all the furniture through the store. We were able to load everything into 1 minivan, impressive to say the least! The guys are a great bunch to talk to, and are great at what they do. I also had them complete the assembly which went flawlessly. I have assembled Ikea furniture in the past, and will never do it again as long as I am in nyc. It's taken a while for me to write this review simply because its difficult to articulate my gratitude to James & Dre for their promptness, patience, knowledge and courteous manner shown my family in getting the job done. My son's 9th birthday party theme was "basketball". Pronto came within 4 hrs of my email to assemble the basketball hoop. Needless to say some of the parts were defective. They went above and beyond their service and took the hoop back to the store and got replacement parts. My hoop was up and my son's birthday party was a success! I recently purchased an Ikea Brimnes Bed and thought that I could put it together but quickly realized that I was in over my head when I saw the amount of nuts and bolts required to put that monster together. Jumped on Yelp and began my search. These guys had the best quote! I called/texted received a response within 30mins stating they could complete the job that day. Wasn't expecting such a quick turnaround, but went for it anyway. Start to finish was 2.5hrs for $75, no hidden fees etc. Saved me a TON of hassle and screaming at my family while putting that bed together. They not only assemble IKEA furniture, but also provide other Handyman svcs such as installing ceiling fans etc, which I'll provide an update when that's done. Hire these guys!! Pronto does a fantastic job. I've used their services twice now, and both experiences were outstanding. When I moved into my new apartment, my fully assembled Brimnes bed wouldn't fit up my narrow stairwell. Pronto came out within two hours of my calling, disassembled my bed for me in the middle of the sidewalk, helped my dad carry the pieces up to the apartment, and then quickly and efficiently put it back together. They even took a drawer from the bed that had broken in the moving van ride and fixed it for me free of charge. I was so impressed with this experience, that I next hired Pronto for full concierge service for the rest of the Ikea furniture I needed purchased. For a very fair price, they shopped for my furniture for me, delivered it to my home, assembled everything, and even helped me break down the boxes. Even better, they very kindly agreed to help me move my dresser from the living room into my bedroom for no charge. I have zero complaints with Pronto. I bought an entire apartment of furniture from Ikea. I emailed/contacted three people on Craigslist, and Pronto responded first and with the best price. They were able to come over the same evening, and were an absolute delight. James and Earl totally knew what they were doing without looking at the directions and everything came out perfectly in about 2.5 hours. This is a real review. I called them a second time to put together my bedframe and the price was great not to mention that James' phone rang off the hook the whole time he was here. Pronto Assembly provides a fabulous service. James & team are professional, flexible, smart, and reasonably priced. On top of it, they're upbeat and easy-going. They scheduled me within a day, and called to alert me when they were running late. Upon arrival, they put together a half dozen wardrobes promptly and well. Best of all, James went above and beyond the call of duty: he helped me to move a couple bookshelves between floors and he repaired some non-functioning spring-loaded window blind mounts. These guys were great! I made the mistake of not doing my research ahead of time and went to Ikea first. I purchased the PAX wardrobe system and nearly broke my back lifting the many heavy boxes needed for this piece. It was upon my retrun home that I came to the realization that there was no way I was going to single-handedly put this gigantic piece together...so my internet search led me to James and his Pronto team. I spoke with him on Saturday and he right then and there made an appointment for us on Tuesday. He arrived right on time, and worked straight through to get this gig system assembled with great results. He even helped move some older heavier pieces that were in the bedroom where the Pax was going (this was greatly helpful to me as a lupus patient who can barely carry a drawer down a flight of stairs, nevermind an entire armoir!). After, speaking with several licensed contractors who declined to take on this task, Pronto Ikea Assembly was a lifesaver. I bought a wardrobe, a bookcase and a curtain rod at Ikea. I also paid for delivery and assembly by Urban Express at Ikea store. However, the Urban Express left my bookcase half assembled and my curtain rod on the floor because they said we needed to order extra hardware from Ikea. After 3 days of calling Ikea and trying to arrange with them I gave up and looked up a handyman on Yelp. Pronto Assembly came up. I ordered same day service on a Sunday morning, and their guy was at my door by 2.30pm. Pretty quick! The guy's name was Ron, and he was really GREAT. Not only did he assemble the bookcase and put the curtain rod up, but he also fixed the wardrobe because urban express did a lousy job there. Ron was very professional, fast and nice. I am so thankful to Pronto Assembly for helping me put the furniture together at my house! read more

I would not recommend this company. I had a simple install and my building requires a certificate of insurance that I sent prior to the install, and when they showed up for the install, they had no paperwork even though I was assured by the owner that they would. He rescheduled for the next time I was in town, and in texting to confirm (because they don't take phone calls) I received no confirmation. Very unprofessional. read more

I did not have any work done by this company. I sent them an email (from their website) detailing and listing the 2 or 3 Ikea pieces I wanted put together with some specific and important questions. They emailed me back only asking for names and article numbers of the ikea stuff -- ok so I did that with a few notes on my concerns. They did not answer any of my questions and I had a feeling the person emailing me did not read my original email. they sent me another email -- again ignoring my questions and tallying up the job needs incorrectly because they did not pay attention to what I had requested. So I sent them a response briefly corrected the job tally. As I said, I was really getting the feeling the person from Pronto had no idea what I was asking for and I wasn't going to type it all out AGAIN as I had laid it out in the FIRST email. Their return email says " so what do you want us to put together?". I said forget it. My impression is that they are not interested in what you want or what you are asking about. My impression from these emails is that they just want to slap your order --any order-- together and collect your money. They have left me with a very negative impression and a feeling that there would be more miscommunication and arguments down the road which of course will lead to a costly MESS. read more

Since I rely on reviews, here are the facts. Set up for Pronto to pick up order at Ikea and deliver and assemble. Emailed all the documents to Pronto for shopping and delivery. Pronto was to send certificate insurance to my apartment building. Everything confirmed for Saturday noon delivery, service elevator reserved. Thursday and Friday called and emailed several times to make sure everything was set up. Never heard from them. They never arrived at noon (10:30 - noon window) on Saturday. Continued to call and email on Saturday, never heard from them. At 3pm, took Uber to Ikea and ordered and will have them deliver directly. Based on the other reviews I am not sure what happened but I could never recommend this company to anyone. read more

Reached out to Pronto for pick up and assembly for a large Ikea wardrobe. From start to finish they were polite, helpful and easy to work with. They made sure to consult us on the details, like placement of the wardrobe before installing the wall mounting, where we wanted the shelf and clothes rails installed etc. They even cleaned up after themselves! Amazing service - quick, affordable, and very friendly. My building has really strict policies about no deliveries/repairs on weekdays after 4pm, but I don't get home from work until after 7pm and James was smart enough to come dressed casually as a "friend" (which he now is) and get by the doorman. Without his help I'd be assembling on my own for another few months, but he got it all done in just about 4 hours and also fixed some of my old IKEA furniture/helped me assemble a few extra smaller items at no additional charge. James is the man. He knows everything about every IKEA product and will make your life so much easier. read more

I do not know what I would have done without James and Pronto Ikea. I needed quick delivery to my walkup (day of [Ikea takes a couple of days to deliver to Manhattan, and Eric's Ikea Delivery Alternative didn't have availability on the day I requested]). I was initially skeptical of James as he just brought a minivan. We bought two full-size beds (with mattresses - one being a spring mattress), a loveseat, a work table, a coffee table and three chairs. James had all necessary supplies to put a couple of items on top of the van and fit everything else with room to spare (all seats in the van were taken out except the front two). He safely drove everything to my place in Manhattan and, with minimal help from myself and my roommate, carried some pretty heavy stuff up four flights of stairs. No one wanted to bother with bed construction after a long morning, but James charged a very fair $50 to install each bed ($50 per bed). Besides the stellar work product James was very friendly and was happy to chat with us while helping out. Even if the other services were options for me, I would go back to James if I ever needed anything fairly large bought, delivered and installed. read more

Pronto is great! After a 2 month battle with Ikea I finally decided to call Pronto. I had payed Ikea for delivery and assembly but they failed to include the hardware for my tv shelving unit. They proceeded to send me the wrong hardware time and time again-and refused to refund my money for their crappy service. Pronto was friendly, on time, and very reasonably priced. Pronto took the incorrect items back to Ikea for me, got the correct parts and assembled the tv unit. I used pronto for the first time last summer when i decided to purchase a wall mounted entertainment unit from Ikea. They promptly picked me up as soon as I had my merchandise drove me home and immediately began to set things up. They even went back to Ikea for me the next morning to pick up items Ikea forgot to include! when it was all done the unit looked great, got completed quickly and Pronto is very reasonable in terms of their rates. My experience with them was so positive I used them a few more times to deliver and construct a dining table, dresser, wardrobe closet and a desk from Ikea. Buying my first piece of property, I was more than overly excited to furnish my place with nothing but modern furniture. That excitement was quickly killed by Ikea with their tedious purchasing process and overwhelmingly complicated assembly system. Ikea was charging me in the thousands, I repeat.. THE THOUSANDS of dollars to assemble TV shelves that I bought from their stores. I had paid $1200 to get my first shelve assembled and even with such a steep price, the job was still not done correctly. Facing such situation, I decided to hire a handyman. After a week of try outs, I found pronto assembly. The person that assembled my furniture was named James (ironically my name is James too). To make a long story short, James did everything I paid him to do plus more. His assembling skills are almost impeccable... From my perspective, his only con is his lack on punctuality. James always toys with the appointment times that we agreed upon. Aside from that, HIRE HIM, HIRE HIM, AND AGAIN HIRE HIM. You will not go wrong. He is cheap compared to what the others are charging, and he does a spectacular job. read more

This company saved us! We went to Ikea on a Monday and bought our furniture. We paid for delivery and assembly for a Wednesday. The furniture came late (after our window of 3-9pm). We assumed Thursday they would come to assemble. Wrong! they told us not until Sunday again 3-9 window! I called Pronto because I was leaving town and did not want my daughter stuck without furniture assembled. They were so kind. I called on Thursday and sent them my information. They emailed me quickly with a price and a time. They were able to do it the next day and there was no window. They told me 8:30 am and they showed up on time. We had Mamba and he was very professional and assembled the pieces as well as helped carry down all the cardboard. Please save yourself the headache from Ikea and use Pronto. If I had known I would have had them deliver for me also, but I did not know about this service as I was out of town and moving my daughter to an apartment in New York. Everything is done through email not phone calls but don't be alarmed by that as they are efficient and will get back to you. Highly recommend. read more

We just had Mamba and James by tonight to help us with delivering and assembling four pieces of Ikea furniture. They couldn't have been nicer or more efficient. It's amazing how quickly that stuff can be put together when you know what you are doing. The cost was remarkably reasonable and they were just two really decent guys.
