I did so early so we could make sure that our pool would be open and usable for memorial day. Service so far has been an absolute nightmare. We were totally flexible on the day of service and the time but just asked that it be ready to go by mid May and I let them know that I was having events on memorial day and on the Friday before. Here is what I emailed Sunset today about my experience thus far. It looks like barring a miracle, we won't even be able to use our pool on memorial day as the pool and chemicals are cloudy and our cleaner is not working properly: "I have called seven times to your office over the past three days. The first time I called on Wednesday to confirm that my service was on Thursday and it would be performed as scheduled. They confirmed yes. On Thursday (yesterday), I called because at 11 am, no one had arrived for the scheduled service that day. The front office again told me not to worry and assured me they would be coming that day, Thursday. Then I called again at 3 pm because no one was there and they said I was next on the Thursday schedule, and they should be at my home shortly. At 5:15 PM when no one had still arrived, I called again and your office was now closed. I left a message on the general number. I also called your "emergency line" and left a message there. No one ever returned my call. No one ever showed up!! Today (Friday) I called this morning and they said someone would be coming today. Then when no one arrived by 11 am, I called again and they said they didn't know what was going on and would call me back. No one did. I called again and the office was closed." So, if you want to spend your time chasing down customer service and looking at an unusable pool for the memorial day weekend, this may be your company for weekly service. Just don't ask for Thursdays, that's our day!!! (Dripping with sarcasm ).

I found that Arvidson's is the best at understanding what pools need for the right balance, and then following up to ensure everything turned out okay. I went there two days ago, and I had a high level of ammonia in the pool. I have no idea how that would have happened. Rather than sell me an expensive round of chemicals, they told me to drain 1/3 of the water out of the pool and refill it. They said that would mean I would need less to balance the water. When I returned today, the Ammonia levels were low enough that I didn't need to do anything other than add (a lot) of chlorine. More than anything, I trust their judgment in chemically treating pools.

When they closed the pool they didn't empty the water and blamed us that the heater needed to be replaced and so we ordered a new one. They said it was due to our chemicals, which were always balanced. They installed the new heater and cut the liner which caused a leak. They told us they didn't do it. They didn't have time to fix it as their son got hurt. The pool wasn't leaking before the large cut in the liner where they installed the liner. They decided to come out to repair the liner. It didn't work. It was a bunch of blue goop brushed on. Again, they told us it was our problem and the people that installed the pool. I had a pool leak rest of the summer. I didn't pay the second half of the heater as my pool was leaking. They refused to fix it. I had two companies out here to look at the damage. This leak was not due to the original installation. It was from the install of the new heater where the tear was and the repair didn't work. It was an obvious slice where they installed the heater. Also when these companies came and looked at the old heater and they could tell the water wasn't emptied out of the heater when they closed the pool. Communication is horrible, they don't respond. The one gentleman who helps with chemicals is phenomenal, but other than that, the emails they sent me were mean. I paid for the other half of the heater as I had no choice. It was costly for me to continue fighting for a liner. Find another source if you can. They do not care about their customers and they take no responsibility for their work. They only have time for their in ground customers.

The classes seem excellent. pickleball game here looks legit. The staff are friendly and helpful. Locker rooms are secure, fully stocked with toiletries and about as clean as you could expect. And, yes bros, older guys with no modesty walking around are here as well. The prices aren't that bad, but I did come from CA where a gym membership to a higher end club usually costs a small mortgage, a 10% ownership stake in your soul and your firstborn child. Here's the two downers for me that keep the club from being 5 star. 1) They have a dedicated work area for members. Super useful because a lot of us are coming during work hours or commute a long way to get here. However, the work area/club lounge legit sounds like a club. The lounge is also right along the hallway so there's a lot of gym bros congratulating each other on hitting the PB or ladies walking by who are totes excited about hearing Fate of Ophelia during HIT class. I get it. I'm a Swifty as well and I'm the first to admit that Taylor slays. But I ain't yelling it down the hall. Midtown has a work area/lounge and they commit to it. If you're going to add a space like this, commit. Do it right. 2) Y'all need to up the cafe game or I'll call John Taffer and Gordon Ramsay. Soggy tortilla on a wrap is sacrilege. Where's the two Italian dudes yelling "not approved" when I need them. I know I'm nitpicking. Maybe I'm unfair. After all, it is a gym. In the past 5 months I have had to have Hot Tub Tony's come to my property 3 times. On each of the occasions, emails and phone calls for support averaged over a week to get any response back. It took nearly 3 weeks to get a response of any kind regarding a blown heater during a recent cold spell. I've had issues with heaters, pumps and temperature regulation. No prices outside of a trip charge were communicated until after the technician left, including requests for warranty repairs that were not honored after I took possession of the property. I am still having issues with the spa and they company isn't standing by the work they have performed either at the original point of sale, or after new equipment was installed at my expense. I have tried to get support from Tony or ownership and told it wasn't necessary for him to follow up. The company can not keep up with the maintenance of the products they sell. The communication is the worst I have experienced with a small business, including using an AI answering service that is not intuitive and apparently goes to no one to answer all inbound service requests. I can't speak for the sales team, although those are the only people that answer the phone. Beyond that the follow up, quality of service, communication and price transparency are all missing the mark. I would recommend buying a product that has more service provider options (not CalSpa for Illinois) and a different company to service and maintain spas.

(bear in mind that they currently service our pool and really should have a database with all these details). Nonetheless, we wanted the filter for our pool opening at the end of May as we had family coming to town and were informed that it would arrive Thursday of the following week, May 22nd. It never arrived and I was informed that it 'missed' the large order that goes out 'once a week' and was informed that 'hopefully they will have it next week, May 29th at the St Charles office. Never arrived!! We waited another week but this time, having lost faith in the staff member in question, I called the Crystal Lake office and spoke with Dan from the service/stock room only to be told that they were having trouble sourcing the cartridge and he assured me that he would have a temporary onefor me by Friday, as they had ordered me the 'Top of the range' filter that is the best out there. And yes, you guessed it.....I never got a call Friday or anytime after that from Dan. In fact, the weekly service team arrived to my house on Monday, June 2nd only to ask if had received my filter, to which I said no. To make matters worse, I arrived home later on that Monday to discover that the service team had taken my dirty 2 year old filter that had been sitting out in the rain for weeks, washed it down and put it in the pool filtration system as an alternative. In the process, he washed the filter on my lawn and left about a 20 sq ft of white acidic residue on my grass that I am unable to remove. Fast forward to Wednesday and I received a call from Arvidson's Crystal Lake office to come pick up my temporary filter that day at the St Charles office. I happily drove there the same day only to meet the same staff member with a deer in headlights look and no idea what I was referring to and unable to locate a filter cartridge. I did receive a call yesterday from St Charles alerting me that the cartridge (original one, not the Temporary one) was finally here for pick up. I picked it up today, went through the process of emptying my filtration system only to discover that it was the wrong cartridge and nothing like what we ordered. Not even compatible to the same system. I have not reached out yet as I am too upset! What I did do was go on google and found my cartridge in two minutes and was shocked to discover that they retail for $72.99 (Hurricane model) and not the '$216.99' I was charged by Arvidsons. The incorrect one they sent retails for $92.99. That is a 233% mark up. Are you kidding me?? Needless to say my experience this year with Arvidsons has been a hugely inept one and extremely disappointing to say the least. The fact that I felt like I was being lied to on a number of occasions upsets me most, given that my background is in corporate client facing environments. Please tell me you can do better guys!

We searched online for over a month, visited five or six furniture shops, and even made a special trip to Chicago's Chinatown to try to find something unique. Our greatest setback was the lack of quality in the pieces we saw. My husband stumbled on a local listing for a gorgeous crimson nightstand from M&E that was priced to sell. I love restored furniture and creative vintage flips. We drove thirty minutes to pick up the piece. The owner's inventory was stunning; beautiful and vibrantly colored vintage furniture that was carefully restored. They are extremely open and friendly people who are passionate about what they do. Their prices were more than fair. We were hooked. We asked them to keep us in mind for another nightstand. Not only did they keep in touch, but they found one! They re-did it to our liking and set an appointment for us to come by and get it. Then, my husband spotted another one that he loved more. They graciously offered to repaint it to our liking (at no extra cost, though we offered) and sell us that one instead of the one they had prepared for us. With a generous spirit like that, they should be in business for a long time!
