On the first floor they have a theater room, a salt room, a gold room, a sun room, a charcoal room, other rooms and a cafeteria area. You can also pay for a massage. There's also a small slide for the little guys as well as some water spray features. My 3 year old loves zero depth entry pools so he was thrilled. There's also a second pool that was deep enough for my stepkiddo to get her swim on. There were three lap pool lanes open as well. Again, the hours for all this is on the website. The staff is kinda meh. The woman working the desk was not sure what was going on but the life guards were nice. The locker rooms are nicer than I was expecting. I found that Arvidson's is the best at understanding what pools need for the right balance, and then following up to ensure everything turned out okay. I went there two days ago, and I had a high level of ammonia in the pool. I have no idea how that would have happened. Rather than sell me an expensive round of chemicals, they told me to drain 1/3 of the water out of the pool and refill it. They said that would mean I would need less to balance the water. When I returned today, the Ammonia levels were low enough that I didn't need to do anything other than add (a lot) of chlorine. More than anything, I trust their judgment in chemically treating pools.

There is no real invoice trail and no way to get an official refund. The tank was never installed. He played me for weeks with one reschedule after another, and I don't believe he ever ordered it. When I finally cancelled, he suddenly had a family emergency and no one was available. After the cancellation, everything became an issue -- the weather, family, no crew. I emailed the main business email to see if anyone else there could help me. Nothing. The only number you get is Genaro's. He does all the negotiating himself and sends his guys out to the jobs, so there's no one else you can talk to. When he stops answering, you have no one to call. I got a partial refund of $1,000. The remaining $1,377.93 has never been returned. I have been texting him for months. I sent another text this morning. Still nothing. A few things I found out afterward that I wish I'd known: Their website lists a phone number and a Gmail address. No business address. No owner name. No license number -- for a home repair company. The BBB lists Jonathan Cruz as the principal contact and business management for Happy Pools and Spa. They rate the company C+, not accredited, with a complaint the business never answered. Illinois law requires a written contract for home repair work over $1,000. I never got one. Lesson learned. Please read the other recent reviews on this page before you hire them. Look at the names and the dates. Multiple people in 2025 and 2026 describe the same thing I went through -- deposits and full payments taken, work never started or never finished, no-shows, ghosting, and refunds that never come. Several say they're going to small claims court or to the police. It is not one bad season and it is not one unlucky customer. This wasn't play money for us. It was my kids' summer and our savings. I have filed a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General, disputed the payment with my bank, and I am filing in small claims court for the balance. If this happened to you too: file with the Illinois Attorney General at 1-800-386-5438, file a BBB complaint, and file in small claims court. It's about $139 and you can do the whole thing online. The more of us on record, the harder this gets for him. Do not pay this company up front for anything. Do not pay by Zelle or Venmo. Get a signed written contract before a dollar moves -- and even then they'll probably take it and still do something shady. This is a shady "company" from the workers down to GENARO. Super Sketch. DO NOT TRUST THEM. As of 8/5/2026 I still have no received my FULL REFUND OR A RESPONSE ON THE STATUS.

I did so early so we could make sure that our pool would be open and usable for memorial day. Service so far has been an absolute nightmare. We were totally flexible on the day of service and the time but just asked that it be ready to go by mid May and I let them know that I was having events on memorial day and on the Friday before. Here is what I emailed Sunset today about my experience thus far. It looks like barring a miracle, we won't even be able to use our pool on memorial day as the pool and chemicals are cloudy and our cleaner is not working properly: "I have called seven times to your office over the past three days. The first time I called on Wednesday to confirm that my service was on Thursday and it would be performed as scheduled. They confirmed yes. On Thursday (yesterday), I called because at 11 am, no one had arrived for the scheduled service that day. The front office again told me not to worry and assured me they would be coming that day, Thursday. Then I called again at 3 pm because no one was there and they said I was next on the Thursday schedule, and they should be at my home shortly. At 5:15 PM when no one had still arrived, I called again and your office was now closed. I left a message on the general number. I also called your "emergency line" and left a message there. No one ever returned my call. No one ever showed up!! Today (Friday) I called this morning and they said someone would be coming today. Then when no one arrived by 11 am, I called again and they said they didn't know what was going on and would call me back. No one did. I called again and the office was closed." So, if you want to spend your time chasing down customer service and looking at an unusable pool for the memorial day weekend, this may be your company for weekly service. Just don't ask for Thursdays, that's our day!!! (Dripping with sarcasm ).
