I am amending the review below. If I knew more about computers I would have understood he is a crook. All he did was save my hard drive on an external drive, wipe my computer clean, and upload and new software. This means that any program I have ever purchased or uploaded was gone. Also, this new software was pirated so guess what, it stopped working after a few months. The whole time he was there he asked very personal questions about my work and my husbands work and what we paid for different things in our home. I know who to turn to if someone breaks into my bank accounts. I had to buy a new computer in December. I will never again trust someone I found on yelp, or another online medium, to fix my computer. The most TERRIBLE customer service. Had Moe from http://www.bayareapctech.com/ come in to network my office. He left without testing if the network was actually working. I was too busy seeing patients and was unable to check up on his work. When I call him to come back, he is NEVER on time and NEVER returns phone calls and NEVER had the courtesy to call if he's running late. Very unprofessional. My office is still left with lots of problem. Had to ask a friend to come in to help which led me to believe that Moe doesn't really know his stuff. I would NEVER recommend his service to anyone. A big smile from my daughter was all that I needed to see, to know that it was worth it. My daughter's laptop could no longer access the internet due to a virus and we went to Best Buy this morning. The person who diagnosed the problem quoted $200 and 3-5 days to fix her problem. We didn't have that kind of time. I called Moe this afternoon; he had her laptop up and working within a couple of hours, and installed antiviral software that is free due to our internet provider (something we didn't know!). Also, I asked him to clean up my PC laptop, which was so slow I had converted to a mac. Moe diagnosed the problem as being due to having only 512K meg. He installed a 1 Gig RAM, and combined with his other repairs to my laptop, it's like having a new laptop! So, in a few hours at my home, he fixed two laptops and was very pleasant throughout. Although it is a bit scary to have a stranger come to one's home and start fiddling with one's laptop, his website, his 15 years of experience, and testimonials were helpful. Moe to the rescue!! My laptop just kind of died, and after several frantic hours of trying to figure out the problem myself, I was about to go to the geek squad for help. Thank goodness I found Moe instead, as he made a housecall within a couple of hours of my initial call for help, and had my computer up and running as good as new within a very short time frame. Geek squad would have been 3 days minimum as well as much more costly. I will definitely use Moe again for any of my computer issues, and highly recommend him to all my friends. read more

Moe just upgraded and repaired my aging laptop as promised and at very economical fixed fee that we agreed on ahead of time. Moe is a nice guy who knows what he is doing, operates independently and is willing to make house(business) calls. Moe takes emergency jobs on weekends. Moe bluffed his way through the course of his "fixing". I definitely know more than him about networks and network protocols. That is not his fault it's just a fact . He approached this problem, in a throwing the baby out with the bath water manner. This will work but a more delicate approach would've been the course I would've expected from an experienced tech. Actually, I'm sorry I ever wrote a good review about this person. He appears to be very computer saavy and comes out with multiple paraphernalia and talks smooth, but watch out. He was sexually overt the whole time, which at first started out kind of humorous, since I am far from a prude. But thinking about it later, it was not at all professional for him to keep talking about sex, boobs, his girlfriends' private info, and even commenting on MY boobs, etc. while doing a JOB! He did fix my computer, but also sold me on another computer, monitor and new modem. That's all fine, as I did need to upgrade, but when I asked for a receipt and a breakdown of the items, he refused to give one to me. So I have no idea what I paid individually for the items and don't even know if I got ripped or not price-wise or tech-wise! Not only that, but he insisted on a rather large TIP. A repair person who refuses to give a customer a receipt or a breakdown of the items sold AND then goes on and on about sexual topics through the whole repair session, is, therefore, NOT someone I can wholeheartedly recommend. It took him hours to do the 'repair' and then had to come back the next day for another lenghthy session. Also another thing I noticed is that this person is CONSTANTLY on Facebook, and I mean CONSTANTLY, posting video after video. Initially we became FB Friends, but then because of his MULTIPLE & non-stop FB posts, I had to block him, as it took up pages and pages of my FB wall! If he is really a computer tech and working, where does he find the time to FB incessantly? As most people know, you never quite know what quality of service or caliber of person you are going to get on Craigslist, especially when you have to call them to your home. It IS kind of scary! But once Moe arrived, I knew he was the right guy. He comes totally prepared with hardware, software, peripherals, etc, loaded in his car, and is very confident about fixing anything. He quickly discovered my particular problem, and although it cost me quite a bit to buy new hardware, I still got a deal. He is a very personable person, huge sense of humor and determined to get you 'fixed' no matter what or how long it takes. He made 3 trips to my home, and got me going again and even SAVED me money by informing me that I did not need a $60 a month internet hookup for my laptop!. If you can take his yakking about his girlfriends and boobs in between his repairs, you will be a happy camper!!! LOL! read more

B4 he came over, I told Moe that we had a worm problem. I repeated that when he arrived. Upon checking our system, he said that the problem was with our modem and changed it. He did some work on the computer, then declared everything being fixed. I asked him, several times, if he was sure that changing a modem could fixed a COMPUTER problem. He assured me that all was fine. He charged $200, for about 50 minuted of work and left. The next day, my IMac, supposedly the most reliable desktop in the market, completely stopped working. That had never happened prior to his visit. Since then, I've been to the Apple Genius Bar FIVE times, with the IMac of course, already paid ANOTHER $150, and it is still having various problems, which are popping up as I try to use it. I would not let this guy enter my house again, let alone TOUCH my computer. BEWARE!!! read more

Ask him to please not fix anything before he tells you exactly what it's going to cost 2. After reading Moe's creative ads on Craigslist and reading Yelp reviews, I contacted him about setting up a new computer, transferring my email from the old computer to the new and setting up a wireless network. He assured me that could easily be done. There were no issues setting up the computer but he could not successfully transfer the emails and finally admitted that he was not familiar with Thunderbird. I hired two other professionals to complete the work. Both stated that they could not retrieve the emails because he had destroyed my profile during the transfer and that he should have taken a few moments to back up the email before attempting the transfer. So his lack of due diligence and lack of knowledge has cost me big time. For that alone, Moe, your deserving of a one star rating. You should have told me that you didn't know the system. In addition, he also did not complete setting up the wireless network, saying he needed to get the right equipment, and would be in contact with me the following day. He never called back. Other issues--he doesn't show up on time and he takes phone calls from customers while working on your equipment. Positive--he's a nice guy and charged me for two hours of work when he put in four hours (though the last two hours he tried but didn't accomplish anything). read more

Moe is the BEST! I hate searching for a new computer repair person, and now I don't have to. Any problem, with any computer I own, I now know who to go to. I was having some hard drive problems; one had failed and one was on its way out. Some of the data had been backed up but some was not. I explained the situation in an e-mail and he called back right away. We scheduled an appointment and he actually made a house call and came and picked up my computer. Before he left he talked about my options and listened to what I wanted done, and suggested the best way to do what I needed. He was finished in two days and once again, stopped by my home to drop off my computer. Everything was fixed and running better than my old set up had been before, even when it was new. All of the data was extracted from my failed hard drive, I had two brand new hard drives, a fresh install of my OS and I was up and running again. All of this and it cost me less than I had thought possible. I was expecting to rack up a big bill with parts and labor, not to mention the home pickup and delivery. If I had taken it anywhere else I would have been fleeced. I know best buy alone would have charged 100 dollars just to diagnose it, even though I knew exactly what was wrong and what needed to be done. I don't like selecting a new computer repair person out of the blue, but since I am new here in the bay area I didn't have much of a choice. I'm not in the habit of writing reviews. I think this is the second in 15 years. But, when the US Cavalry shows up in the guise of The Lone Ranger, and literally saves the day, then I'd better write a review. You deserve to know about him. My daughter, an artist, had her laptop's hard drive packed with her art -- art which had taken years to create. Some was backed up. But a lot wasn't. Yesterday, checking out another artist, she was left with some very nasty malware. The virus turned her computer into an expensive doorstop. If that wasn't bad enough, I could not see how we could save her art since the conventional wisdom said her hard drive would have to be wiped clean. To say she was devastated doesn't come close to how she felt. I turned to McAfee, our anti-virus provider. Wrong turn. Talk about less than useless. They wanted ME to pay them so I could work on the computer with no promises as to whether it would be fixed. I called everybody I knew looking for somebody who could help. NOTHING. Then, as a last resort, I did a search for computer virus repair and got Moe, who said he would come by. COME BY? Huh. I got a little worried. Did he have an office? Who was this guy? Then I thought about the options like Fry's, Microcenter and Geeksquad and either I or my friends had had problems with all of them. When Moe said chances were he could save my daughter's art and knew the specific virus and could fix it...and...after I found out the price (about what McAfee wanted to charge me to fix it myself), I took a chance and asked him to come over. Moe turned over the laptop, pulled out a screw driver, pulled out the drive and said "no problem." In ten minutes my daughter's art was saved. Talk about relief -- for her and for me because I felt responsible. Yeah, I know. It was nobody's fault, but the bastards who created the virus. But, I still thought I should've been able to do something to prevent the problem. Anyway,Moe sat with us, reloaded the computer, made certain everything was up and running while we just talked. All told, he probably spent about two hours with us -- and charged us only what he'd promised. Not only is the man a complete and completely knowledgeable professional, he's genuinely a nice person. Of course, what else would you expect from The Lone Ranger, who came riding in when all hope was lost, and came to the rescue like the US Cavalry? I can't say enough good things.
