Hit "format disc" on my extended storage drive instead of my memory card. Oops. Brian ran 2 different scans and put them on a drive I provided. Most all file root systems are intact. Pretty much saved almost everything, with slightly different results on both scans. Now I'll just run Duplicate File Finder Pro and delete the dupes...and consolidate. Do a little more digging and all is good. Good service and good experience. Lucky to have taken it to him immediately. Highly recommended! read more

Last week my hard drive tanked, taking all of its information with it. I do diligently back up and have another computer, so all wasn't lost, but I needed a good IT guy fast. I checked out Brian's (Problem Solvers Owner) reviews and they were all stellar. I called him up, and he calmly told me if I brought him the computer he would see what he could do. I promptly brought it over to his home that he works out of. He called me back two hours later, and told me what I had suspected: my hard drive was fried. He sent me down to the local computer store to buy another hard drive (under $50.00) for a 500G), and to bring him another external hard drive, of which I had as well, and any software that I wanted reinstalled. By the next day, he had retrieved all the files from the corrupted drive and put it on the new drive as well as installing the software I work with (Quickbooks, Adobe Acrobat, Office) and then reset up my computer and gave it a tune up. When I brought it home, my 9 year old Dell Vostro worked like a charm. It was faster and quieter than its ever been. My old Dell has a new lease on life. His prices were very reasonable, and his follow-up was immediate. I now have an IT guy at my disposal. I wholeheartedly recommend Brian and Problem Solvers. read more

Brian was very helpful. I had a problem with my old PC. I looked up various repair places in Yelp. Aw yah the was close. Called him an d he said I could drop off my PC that day. I did and he called me later that that day to say my old PC was or was pretty much unrepairable. But he fixed me up with a newly refurbished PC at a reasonable cost. My printer has problem, black ink doesn't work well. Called some people/company I found on Yelp, some say they don't fix printer, some say nicely that printer is not worth fixing, just go get a new one. And then there is Brian, he says the same thing, printer is cheap, it will probably cost the same to fix it. But he taught me, over the phone, how to clean it, (where is the self cleaning option), what would he do if I bring it to him. I tried that, it got 95% better! I called him again, he taught me more, about printer, cartridge and all that. I mean, I don't know him. He doesn't make any money from me. He has so much patience, he is very knowledgeable about computer. If I ever have any computer or IT problem, (fingers crossed), I will definitely call Brian again. read more

Problem Solvers computer repair saved my life. My computer crashed last week, and I had all my business information on it, and had not backed up my materials since January! I kept putting it off and then had a near heart attack when it just would not turn on! My PC desktop's power supply died at a very inopportune time. I found Problem Solvers on Yelp and went to the address in San Mateo. I normally repair my PC myself but didn't want to drive to Fry's and Amazon's same day delivery has been spotty for me. I was a bit taken back when I went to his address and found it was a house in one of my old neighborhoods. But I knocked on the door and after talking to Brian I felt very comfortable. Much more so than places like Best Buy (somewhere else...) or a repair shop. In only four hours Brian called me to say that the unit had been repaired. When I went to pick up the unit he had it attached to a monitor so I could see it had indeed been repaired. Not to mention at a price that was both fair and reasonable. I would just like to give Brian another boost since it's been quite a while since I wrote my last review for him. He continues to provide the best possible service when ever I call. Unless he's doing a major overhaul, he either works on it directly in my home or does so remotely if it's something he thinks can be done in that way. As I'm disabled, he knows that I depend heavily on computer use and will usually provide service as quickly as he possibly can, sometimes even the same day. There is absolutely no one I would recommend more highly if you're having computer troubles. He is always up-to-date and familiar with the latest software. I accidentally spilled water on my laptop and Brian was able to arrange to have it fixed at a reasonable price. Brian is knowledgable and friendly and my laptop was returned to me quicker than anticipated. My 1 TB external hard drive was completely shot. None of my computers would recognize it, and it was heavily corrupted. Unfortunately, I had pictures of my mom's wedding as well as thousands of pictures from my study abroad trip in college. I had pretty much resigned myself to thinking that they were lost after I had tried recovering the data myself. I gave Brian at Problem Solvers a call as a last resort and dropped off the drive with him. Throughout the process, he went out of his way to keep in contact by calling me with regular and detailed updates about the progress he was making and the state of the drive. After about a week of work, he confirmed that the drive was extremely corrupted and at this point things were looking bleak. However, he kept at it, and a few days later I got a phone call saying that he had recovered 99% of my data. Brian is a hero. He saved photographs that have high sentimental value for me. I can't imagine many other technicians that would be able to recover data from such a corrupted drive which is a testament to his skills with data recovery. Also, the price was extremely fair and lower than many other business that offer similar services. After running a diagnostic program on each Brian made recommendations and performed work at a very reasonable price. The computers were fixed faster than Brian had first estimated and have been running faster since.
