The USB-B port on the back of my direct drive racing simulator rig after a year of plugging and unplugging finally gave out. It would not connect to my computer anymore. I needed someone with experience, and would be up to take on this job. Never knowing this store before, I took the risk and tried someone new out, giving them my 1800$ small direct drive to fix. He opened it up in front of me, showed me how he's going to fix the problem and said I'll text you when finished. Next day I get a text from my guy Gary at Atman computer, I go pick it up with a fresh USB-B port and pay him 100$, super worth it. I had a problem with my pc that I didn't know what the problem was. I found this shop and asked how much a diagnosis is. The man that answered said it was $35 (compared to Best Buy's $200 diagnosis). As expected, I took my pc there to get it looked at. The man working was extremely nice and had let me know he'll call me later to tell me what was wrong and that it's ready to be picked up. Roughly only 1 hour later he had called and let me know that the problem was with my CPU's cooling as the AIO I'd had for 4 years had died. I then got myself a new AIO and lo and behold; my PC started working! 10/10 will always come back to this shop if a problem arises again! read more

Our 10 year old Dell desktop suddenly died after slowing down noticeably. In vain we shopped for a replacement, even purchasing two laptops (at the combined cost of around $1,900) but neither satisfied our needs. At the recommendation of a relative, we brought our old desktop in for a diagnostic to see if it could be saved. He said to give him a day or two. In 24 hours Gary found the problem & replaced the old disc drive with a new solid state hard drive for $195. It now works faster & better than before, & will likely last for years. 0 Stars. So my step-dad takes his PC to get repaired. They diagnose a bad motherboard and the cost of a new one is $300. Thats it. I take the PC to my friend and being an experienced IT than i am, tells me its the hard drive and shows PROOF to me. The motherboard is actually fine. STRIKE 1: Wrong diagnosis. I noticed that the power button is missing. My stepdad called in and they said they dont have it. TWICE. So i finally went in there and they "found" the button broken. They broke the power button and tried to hide it. STRIKE 2: Covering up mistakes and lying. When they returned the computer to my stepdad, the wireless antenna was missing. They said there was no antenna. bullsh**. Finally got it back. STRIKE 3: attempted theft? So they broke something, lied, tried to steal, and got a diagnosis wrong that would have ended up costing hundreds of dollars. I am an IT. it was the biggest mistake coming here. I was in desperate need of an anti-static bag the other day (I have a bunch, but they are stored a few miles away). I happened to be in Millbrae, so I went to Atmans. I asked the guy working there if he had any anti-static bags, and he pulled out this used one that was all crumpled and creased up. I said that'll do. He said "One Dollar." I replied "One Dollar? I can buy 20 new ones for a dollar online!" And he replied "yeah, probably." Being the desperate guy I was, I gave him a dollar, took the bag, and thought about what a piece of stingy crap that guy is. Most decent businesses would have given me the bag, free of charge. It was used, after all. I guess I should have offered him a quarter, and I'm sure he would have taken it. If this happened in Hong Kong, I would have definitely done so. Perhaps this guy expected me to counter-offer, being in Millbrae and all. I don't really care about the dollar. But I won't be going there again. His loss. Heh. read more

Broken laptop screen: I'm so glad I found Atman here in yelp. I was about to go others around the area but one shop had a short late open schedule, the other one I called he said he couldn't do the work. And so today, Saturday morning I dropped in with my laptop with a broken screen. I'm pretty disappointed to see the bad reviews here. Like, what? I've had various computer issues over the years. I ALWAYS take my computer to Atman, and I ALWAYS get it back wonderfully fixed for not too much money. I have faced blue screen of death situations that made it seem like rescuing my computer was as achievable as hiking to Jupiter. And yet these miracle workers have been saviors every single time. Atman is great! Fast, good and very reasonably priced. We just brought in my son's gaming pc which was crashed and we hadn't been able to troubleshoot or resolve on our own. They had a $35 diagnosis fee, identified the problem quickly and replaced the graphics card, installed a new SSD, set up a new windows 10 installation, etc quickly. I brought in my computer and explained what was happening with my computer. He was able to fix my computer and install my new graphics card. I picked up my son's laptop today from Gary. This was my second time using Gary and both times I've had positive experiences. He's very knowledgeable and honest. He doesn't try to up-sell you on something you don't need. The laptop was still under warranty and running very slow. Tech support couldn't resolve the issue but Gary did it in an instant. I came here a few times for my computer problems. I had some serious problems with my laptop (Well, you know how reliable laptop vendors are these days, especially after the warranty period expired). I was recommended by a friend. He said it's pretty good in fixing PC laptop and workstations. From my experiences, the service was good, solved my problems, and the owner was nice. He explained what the problems were and quoted me pretty good prices. One time my laptop graphics chip was burnt out. Even though i am pretty technically sufficient (being a software engineer and all), i would not have discovered the problem on my own. Probably because these are hardware problems. Anyway, it's nice they fixed the hardware and helped replaced a new graphics chip for my laptop. You would not easily find a shop which can do that. Usually they tell you to get a new machine, or replace the whole LCD monitor which would cost way more (~$200-300). In my case, i only paid $85 for it. Another time my laptop hard drive died, as in the mechanical parts of the drive was failing, I tried many ways to try to power it up but failed. I brought it to the shop, and they were able to get my data off the drive. They had equipments and tools setup for disk recovery. I was happy with that. I would have paid double for the service for what my data was worth. Bottom line, the service at the shop is good for finding these kinds of problems if you want to savage your computer. He did an amazing job on the two that needed rebuilding and I ended up giving him the dead one to use for parts or recycle. The work was good, fast and very reasonably priced. I told a friend I had a problem with my laptop and was prepared to go out and buy a MAC, "no go to this little store in Millbrae across from the Safeway parking lot" I found it and this young man Gary was incredible. This was a Friday, he called Saturday morning explaining the problem gave me a $$$ amount to fix it, I told him go ahead, wanting it back asap I asked how long, I will try by 6 today. Yes, he called me at 5:30, new hard drive, overheating gone, so much I know I had wrong with it. $170. This was incredible.
