My boyfriend took his PC to Gigabox Computers a couple of times and the issue typically gets resolved on a timely matter so it was an overall positive experience. I had battery issues with my HP laptop and I was stumped after I swapped out to a new internal battery, updated the bios and even purchased a new charger. After failing with my attempts, I finally took it to Gigabox Computers and was charged $100 for the diagnostic fee. That pricing definitely went up from $25 to $60 to now $100. During my visit, I even provided a new internal and external battery for testing. I would have been fine with paying the diagnostic fees and additional fees if my computer could be fixed, but he said it might be the motherboard and that was it. The pricing was a bit steep for not being able to fix anything or even have an idea of what the issue is. Everything that he tested had already been done by myself at home. My laptop was returned unfixed, issue unsure, the diagnostic fee was paid, and an additional shipping fee was charged for the return of parts that was purchased for testing. There was no physical receipt of the shipping cost, so it was just an estimated price. I would have liked to see a receipt of the exact amount that he was charged and what was shipped, but there was nothing. I could have been charged for a part that ended being kept and I wouldn't have known. The two stars were given for the other positive visits when the diagnostic price was reasonable and the issue for the PC was determined. read more

I wasn't sure of any other computer repair places nearby so I was glad to check this one out. Was able to review my pc with one of the staff members and needed to replace the battery. Was able to get the a new battery replaced right before the holidays (to help me write this review lol). Staff was friendly and able to get me a quote before providing service. I would recommend doing this depending on what type of computer repair you would need and see if its worth it (i.e. versus getting a new laptop all together). Thank you. read more

Late post: My mom has been complaining about her laptop being some. Granted it's an old laptop but Tommy was very patient, knowledgeable and explained things in layman terms. Gigabox Computers (Tommy) was a life saver. My Alienware R9 gaming system was bricked from an incomplete BIOS update got the black screen of death. It was my first time building a computer and I had quite a few questions with what to buy, how to put all the parts together, how to properly install Windows, etc. There are just so many recommendations and instructions online that I couldn't really understand everything, and so being able to receive a consultation in person was a much needed time saver. Tommy was thorough with all explanations and spoke to me in a way where I could really understand! Helped me choose parts so that everything was compatible and added a little RGB flare as well. Even guided me with which graphics cards to purchase given the situation at the moment (3070/80s sold out everywhere...) so that I could game without compromise. I brought a laptop in for diagnostic service and quote for possible repairs. Tom was very informative about the laptop brand's reputation of being "meh". He was upfront about expectations but assured me that he would do what he can. After finding the problem, as expected, the cost of repair (mostly the parts needed) was almost half of what I paid for the laptop. Tom gave me a few options, but I decided to leave the junk with him for recycling. I'm sure he would have done a great job if I proceeded with repair. read more

Nice guy but he wanted to charge $150 for labor to replace the screen on my computer. I ended up getting the screen on eBay for $70 and poped the old one off and plugged the new one in in 7 minutes. Maybe, I should start up a computer repair business. read more

Honest! This happened about 4 years ago. My daughter's polaroid tablet was broken. The charging port was loose and I brought it at their shop. Guy said that it will be way cheaper to buy a new tablet than to pay them to "micro weld" the port that's broken inside the tablet. If the shop was in for the money, they could have just accepted the repairs. Also bought a PC for power issues and fixed it for cheap. They even made the start up time faster. read more

This is definitely the place to go to solve your computer problems and not places like Best Buy. The people here are more sincere and care more about fixing the problem than milking you for all its worth with overpriced fees on fees on fees, Best Buy anyone? With that said, their prices are reasonable. The free estimate/diagnostic test is $20 upfront, but those $20 will then cover any kind of repair if you choose them to help fix your problems ie. pay 20 dollars upfront for the estimate/diagnostic , get something fixed for a total of $50 which means that you'll pay $30 when its all done. They are very knowledgeable and professional and like one of the yelpers below if I had money to give and wasn't a poor college student I'd try to tip them. read more

I have been coming to Gigabox since 2005. They offer free diagnostic checks which is helpful because it allows you to know exactly what you will spend and they usually get the work done within a day or two. I recently came in with my Power Mac PC that I've had since 2005. They did the diagnostic check and informed me that the motherboard had flat out died. Sad news for me but luckily they stated that if I purchased an external harddrive they could try and save 100+ gigabites of data (photos, music, videos, files). So after dropping off the harddrive, they quickly were able to save 95 percent of my files. Also, they were able to give me cash (which was used toward the repair) for my computer screen since I was no longer going to have use for it. Great service and quick to do the repairs! read more

SUPER COMPUTER GUYS! I have been going to GIgabox for computer services for about 8 years now. Recently, I moved to Reno brought my laptop to three places and wasted money and time on their services (includes Best Buy). ANTHONY is the man when it comes to computer trouble. The man is really knowledgable and just a nice guy. I run two offices and am back and forth from Pacifica to the central valley quite a bit so when I have problems, I have PROBLEMS. Anyway, i "inherited" my local office CPU and it has been nothing but a headache until I came across Anthony and his team. They really cared about getting me back online and insisted I not throw it in the ocean like i had wanted to (it's ok tree huggers that was just a joke). My computer fan stopped working so I was desperate to get it fixed. I called Dell and they had 2 options to get it diagnosed. Send the computer to them for $39 + tax, standard shipping, and in 12 -15 days they would contact me with a price to fix it or pay $59 +tax for express shipping to get a call back in 5 to 7 days. Neither was a good option for me. I need my laptop every day. I went to Best Buy, (Geek Squad) to see if they could fix it in the store and get it back to me in a day or two. Unfortunately, they would need to send it out to their repair facility, and it would cost $70 to diagnosis it. Again, not an option. Then my friend told me that she goes to "GIGABOX Computers" in Daly City, CA whenever she has a problem with her laptop and they fix it right away. I went there and it was fixed in one day. The price for the diagnosis goes towards any repair. The man, I think he is the owner, is so nice and very computer savvy. I even had him back up my computer for me. The prices are competitive and the turn around time is quick. You don't have to send your computer to some unknown place and wait for a call. There was a small piece of the clip from the battery door that broke off inside, oh BTW the GEEK SQUAD changed the battery 3 weeks before), and it was obstructing the fan operation. The man removed the debris and only charged me for the diagnosis. He is honest; he didn't try to sell me a new fan, etc. I highly recommend this business and it will be my one-stop shop for computer issues. read more
