This week I discovered what a "Blue Screen of Death" is. Long story short, it's really not cool. After talking with a few people and pretty much being told that I should just buy a new laptop, I decided to e-mail Fix-PC to see if there was any hope in repairing my computer. Gancheng e-mailed me back the same day and told me that he would gladly come to my house to see if he could repair my computer. He also said if he could not fix it, I would not need to pay... Amazing. He came over the next day and spent 3+ hours repairing my computer. OH NO! My precious laptop has contracted some vicious malware......what to do!?!?!?!?!? Well, for sure, don't call Geek Squad, who will quote you $359 minimum without even asking you what your problem actually is, and definitely don't call a corporate computer repair place, who will charge you by the hour and then bill you just as much. You might as well buy a new laptop. I found Fix-PC.us on Craigslist and emailed them as a last resort. Their expert Gancheng called me within an hour and drove to my house the same day. He was very friendly and was able to describe everything he was doing in non-computer-geek language. He fixed my laptop within an hour or so and loaded it up with free anti-virus and anti-malware software, which he happily showed me how to use. He charged me $50, as quoted, and if the problem was more complicated he would have been here for 3+ hours and still would only charge $50! Who do you need when your computer gets a virus, who do you call when you dont have a car to bring it to them computer shops? Theres only man who can drive to your place and fix any computer problems, call Gancheng!!! LOL... I had a problem with my PC, it had this new virus called Zentom System Guard. It freezes your computer and it gets slower. I just didn't want to take the risk of having to deal with this.... so I started searching thru Yelp and found him. I called the number listed and spoke to Gancheng, inform him that I got his information on Yelp and that I was desperately seeking for help. He said he would come to my place and charge me $50 FLAT.... Thats alot of savings compare to Geek Squad where they charge $199 for this kind of problem... Asked him to check out a laptop I dropped and started performing slowly. He took a look and confirmed there was nothing wrong with the hard drive. Within an hour the laptop wouldn't turn on. He did not back up the files. He informed us he installed a software that may cause an error AFTER installing. He apologized for making the laptop worse and he was asked to leave. Just don't. *Update: Response to Owner We wouldn't have asked you to leave if you made us feel confident in your capabilities. You made it very clear, you believed all files were lost. Avoid. He came to my house to check out what was wrong with my PC...simply put it was working before he got here..after he left it wasn't working. He installed some software with out asking my permission and it messed up my computer, he even attempted to take it apart and thought I thought something seemed off with this. He didn't even back up my files before attempting to do anything or installing any software(most ppl and or supposed computer repair people would say the first thing they do is back up the files. He seemed very confused. He repeatedly kept apologizing. After he left my housemate who isn't an expert on computers had my computer up and running with in 15 minutes. And she uninstalled his software that almost corrupted my computer. The fact that someone who isn't a professional could fix the issues a so called professional caused is beyond me. He didn't know what was wrong, he didn't know what he did what he did to make the screen go black, didn't even know how to turn my computer on. Like I just said we managed to get it up an running after he left. He seems like he wasn't very knowledgable and probably relied on software and not his own smarts to fix things. So 2 weeks ago my sweet daughter was online at home browsing, facebooking, youtubing what the average teenager does online, and guess what she says..Mom!!! the computer just did something weird! Gancheng is incredible! He will come to your house and charge you only if he can fix your computer problem. Otherwise, no charge. He is very flexible in scheduling and arrives at the time agreed. My laptop could not connect with the Internet, even though my WIFI connection was strong. He quickly diagnosed the problem as a system bug, saying I would have to back up my files and reload the system software, which reformats (erases) the hard disk. He said I could probably do it myself, since I have an external hard drive, so he didn't charge me. When I was unable to do so he came back the next day and successfully fixed the problem, charging me only $50 (so I added a hefty tip). Reliable, fast and reasonably priced! My daughters laptop would not boot. I called Gancheng and he offered to come over and start working on it right away. He told me that if it was a hardware problem that was still under warranty he would only charge me $10 (for his gas) to diagnose the problem! It turned out to be virus/software problems. I have used Genchang multiple times in the past year and he is incredible with computers. He usually will come by within a few hours after I call him. Today I had an issue loading up my Windows and was worried my files could be lost. I called him around 9am and he was at my place in a half hour. He got my laptop running again and he helped me partition my C drive so I could create a system image. There were a lot of files that had to transfer to my new drive before he could create the system image so the whole process took about 3 hours. He charged $80 for a three hour job which is a great deal. There were other times where the problem was a simple one and he was able to fix the issue in a few minutes and only charged a few dollars for gas. And he if can't fix the problem, he won't charge you anything. Genechang is a very honest person and his prices are much less then Big stores or local shops. I am thrilled that Genchang was able to save all my files, and most particularly all my music files, from my desktop computer after it died a sudden and swift death. Genchang did an amazingly great and quick job at cloning(backing up) my main C:/ drive which was starting to fail and making scratchy noise. Luckily all of my data was cloned onto a brand new hard drive and no need to re-install Windows 7 nor any softwares. I was simply trying to avoid starting over & re-installing all my softwares which willl take me many hours. All this was done in about a little over an hour. No wasting time dropping off your computer or leaving it overnight for days or weeks at Best Buy, or local computer shops. Called him early in the morning around 10am and he came to my house within an hour with all his PC tools to fix it. I paid him $60 but he couldn't fix anything. I asked him in the process of opening up my sister's laptop screen to confirm that the laptop is not fixable, and he said it's not fixable. And yet, when I asked him how much I owe him I owe him the full amount. Gancheng came over to my house, looked at my laptop and gave me a diagnosis regarding a monitor issue. there were flickering red lines that periodically show up. initially he suspected the monitor might need to be replaced but first recommended replacing the monitor cable which could be ordered on ebay for only $6 and he would come back in a week to replace it. he quoted me a good and fair price. just to double check, he opened up the monitor display to give it a thorough look. i had previously had another repair shop fix my laptop and apparently they didnt put it back together correctly. gancheng saw some things that needed to be taped down since they were loose, rearranged some screws that were not correctly screwed into the correct screwholes by the previous repairman, and carefully closed up the display case. the problem went away since then! i asked gancheng the next day if he can cancel the ebay purchase and he said sure no problem. so he ended up not charging me for anything at all! gancheng seems like a very fair and honest repairman and charges reasonable prices and i will definitely use him again as i'm sure i will encounter computer problems again!! read more

My custom built gaming pc was not turning on and we trouble shooted the problem to be a faulty motherboard. He was very friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and efficient at what he does. A couple days ago , My Dell Vostro 1500 Laptop's screen didnt work at all, I tried to call some of my friend and see if I can get some help to repair my screen.
