I have a 22-year-old non-responsive computer. Locked inside, I hoped, were photos and sound files from the end of college and my early 20s- a visual and auditory soundtrack to a period in my life. This is a year in coming but I had such a wonderful experience here and needed to share. Last year the motherboard went out in my MacBook laptop and my system crashed. This was devastating because I had the book I'm writing on that computer as well as other creative projects. After the Apple Store in Sacramento basically 'blew me off' when I brought in my 6 year old, non-operational, MacBook for repair, I remembered seeing the Yea!Mac, an independent Apple products repair store in Burlingame and thought I would see if they could fix my laptop since it was way out of warranty anyway. Ricardo at Yea!Mac was extremely personable, helpful and optimistic that my issue may not be 'fatal' and that there was a good possibility that the laptop might actually be repairable. There was a $75 fee to evaluate the condition of the laptop which seemed quite reasonable and well worth the expense to see if the laptop could be repaired. The evaluation actually took less than the 24 hours that is their standard turn around time and I was informed the same day regarding the status and cost of repairing my MacBook. It turned out to be a pretty simple matter of the internal battery that had failed and needed to be replaced. Yea!Mac had the part in stock and I had my laptop back in perfect operating condition in less than 48 hours!! I wouldn't hesitate to make use of their service again for any of my Apple devices that are out of warranty or for a more efficient and personalized service for my equipment. Yea!Mac was great in helping me get my iMac running. I bought a second-hand iMac from 2009 for a low price and couldn't get the OS installed. All the tutorials online couldn't even solve this one. Being it was an old device many shops didn't even carry the OS anymore, but I had it installed and ready to do in a little more than an hour. It was $95.. but It was worth it to at least have an old but still running computer instead of an old and dead one. Many other shops turned my request down because of the iMac's age and Apple technicians always say to bring it to the Apple store. Like so many others here, I found Yea!Mac after a frustrating experience with an Apple store. Last week I spilled some saucy food on my 2017 Macbook Air laptop keyboard, and it immediately quit, refusing to restart. When I took it to the Genius Bar, instead of doing any kind of diagnostics, my "Genius" quickly told me they could send it to their repair center for a $799 inspection, with parts and labor to repair it being extra, of course. He quickly urged me to buy a new air, which starts at $999. Look, I get it--Apple isn't a repair shop. But prior to the spill, my beautifully designed and built Air was perfect for my needs. I have zero interest in spending $1,000 for the latest and greatest Air. My old one is just fine. Long story short, my investigating after I left Apple led me to Yea!Mac. Ricardo told me they could do a $75 diagnostic, then would deduct that from their repair cost. Wow. He opened up my Air, cleaned it, gave me a new battery, keyboard, and track pad, and had it ready the same day for $350 total! Seriously, the best experience ever! I ruined my macbook pro when my water bottle wasn't shut tight and spilled water all over my macbook in my backpack. It was damaged and the mac store wouldn't touch it without quoting me $1000 to fix it. After not turning on for 2 days, the computer actually rebooted and turned on! But the keyboard wouldn't work so I couldn't login to transfer my files. Eduardo was so nice to return my call right away and help me transfer my files from my old damaged mac to my new mac with an external keyboard they had in the store. They were supposed to close at 5pm and I got there at 4:45pm after work. My data took about an hour to transfer and he stayed even after the shop closed to complete my data transfer. Lets face it. Macs are not invincible. My much beloved 5K iMac is hitting middle age and as such its hard drive was not working particularly well. looking at 15 minutes just to boot the OS and forget about editing photos. Attempt to dump programs etc did not work. The drawback with all in one designs is that the do it yourself route is tough. You need tools, skill, and desire and being short of all three..... Having had such a good experience with these guys before I took my iMac in and had the hard drive replaced. Came in without an appointment and dropped it off. The technician was friendly and efficient. Got a call the next day and they had the drive replaced and back to be in less than 24 hours. Add cooperative prices to the excellent customer service and that cannot be beat. As I noted in my previous review the building has a touch of nostalgia with the building. It used to house the old Banana Records and then was a Tower Records in a past life. I used to get my KOME stickers there. read more

They legit just want to help you! I dropped my iPad and broke the power button. It became stuck, which also prevented me from using the volume buttons. I took it to a couple of repair places and the estimate was between $200-$300 with a good chance of breaking my screen. The Apple Store wouldn't even fix it, they just want you to buy a new one. I found a work-around, which is to control the volume on the screen, and I just never turned off my iPad. This was working fine for a few months, until my iPad installed the most recent update. Since the power button was stuck, it never powered back up. The work around was a hard reset, which meant pushing the power and volume buttons at the same times, which I clearly couldn't do! I took my iPad here and spoke to Mauricio about it. He gave me the same estimate as the other places, plus the potential for breaking the screen (apparently this is normal for repairs on iPads). But when he looked at the power button, he said, you know, I think I can just shave it down and the power button should just pop back up. I use this iPad all the time for my classes and PT sessions. So to not have it for even one day was a big deal. I shared this with him after he said it would take minimum 72 hours to evaluate and fix. The very next day, on a Saturday, he called me and said it's fixed ... but, not all the way. Cost is $50 and when you come in, I'll show you the work-around. He was able to get the power button unstuck, but it doesn't work at all. So he added something to my Home Screen where I can turn it off, lock the screen, control volume, etc. What repair place does that?!? They want you to spend as much money as possible so they make more money! So the fact that he found a fix that would allow me to continue to use my iPad without having to get a new one or replace parts, tells me that they really just want to help! I cracked my screen the ONE time I took it off to clean my phone and case while gardening and it fell on the cement in the backyard. I walked in without an appt in the early afternoon and Ricardo was able to fix it in under 30 mins! One of the best things was that he took the time to test it to make sure it worked before handing it back to me to walk out the door. It's like having a brand new phone again. They also buy your old or no longer used Apple products so I plan to check the iPad I don't use to possibly sell depending on the prices offered. If you want your screen replaced so well it barely works, and then the FIRST time it falls the screen SEPARATES from the phone, then definitely get it done here. These losers charged me a fortune for a screen that required me to adjust my touch sensitivity on the phone AND remove their "screen protector", the worst one I've ever used. This is far from the first time I've dropped an iphone, but it is the last time I'll let YeaMac touch one. My phone was in a Mophie case that has ALWAYS done an excellent job protecting my iphones. If I still lived in the area I'd demand a refund, but that's not going to happen anyway, so enjoy this photo of the worst screen replacement I've ever seen. What's especially weird is I clearly recall writing a bad review about these amateurs BEFORE the screen separated. Yet that review is nowhere to be found. I did the unthinkable. I spilled my cup of lukewarm tea onto my open MacBook Air (purchased 9 months ago, brand new). A quick google search prompted me to power down and flip it over for 24 hours. I thought I might have miraculously escaped any problems when lo and behold three days later I notice my computer won't fully charge when plugged in. After charging overnight, it was stuck at 44%. So I book the first Apple genius appointment I can get and rush down to the store where they run some diagnostic tests on my computer and charger and tell me everything is fine. No problems with the battery and an SMC reset is allegedly all I need. Once my computer hits 50%, the apple genius is confident I can head home worry-free. WRONG. The next day, I notice my computer stops charging again after being plugged in for a while. I called Yea!Mac and explain my situation on the phone and ask if I need to make an appointment (answer: nope, just come down). I arrive at the store and the owner (I think?) tells me he will take it apart and look for water damage and clean it up within an hour. One hour later, I return to the store and he tells me he found minor water damage (not even on the battery either), cleaned it up and fixed a wire that was affected by the water damage. I plug my computer in after getting home and it charged to 100%. The price? $25! I am so impressed and grateful for Yeah!Mac for fixing my computer. Although Yea!Mac doesn't have parts for computers until they are about 1 year old (because people don't have apple care anymore), they told me that if my computer still had issues to bring it back and they would try to work on being able to replace the battery if Apple refused.
