Initially, I thought I was going to be taken care of by Khan and Tris which is also Technology Consulting Group. However, the bad experience I had with the Lenovo Repair Depot in TX continued on with the unforeseen circumstances being handled poorly. My Thinkbook's SSD (solid state drive) gave out and was replaced in TX. When I got the laptop back, it was just a black screen when powering on. I chose to bring it here as a local authorized Lenovo repair place thinking I'd get it back much faster than sending it to TX again. Khan initially thought it had no OS installed. So I had Lenovo in TX send me a thumb drive to install. Since, they do not do that here. While my laptop was there, Khan checked it out and apparently it did have an OS installed. The laptop turned on, and I just needed to set it up again. I took it back, and set everything up like new. As I was installing all my programs again and updating, restarting was necessary, but all I got was a black screen every time and had to turn it off manually. So, of course I brought it back to be repaired that Friday on Halloween. Tris asked if I could return it, but I couldn't. (I would if I could have.) So he said the motherboard (whole system) would need to be replaced, and he would order the part from Lenovo. The timeline set forth for me to pick up my laptop was to be next Wednesday at the latest. It could be fixed the same day the part was received. I thought that was reasonable. However, the part never came on Monday, and I didn't bother checking in on Tuesday. Wednesday rolled around, and the part still hadn't arrived when I called. I was taking off for the weekend. So I didn't bother following up Friday, and thought for sure it would be done by Monday. Well, Monday came and I was told they didn't know where the part was. Someone had signed for it, but it wasn't them. A FedEx investigation would have to be done. I was assuming they weren't going to wait for this part to be found but maybe they were! I don't understand why another week and a half went by after this. The following Monday, November 10, I kept calling to inquire about the repair status. Several of my calls were ignored when previously my calls were answered. (They probably saw my number on the caller ID.) Eventually, I left a message and my call was returned via voicemail telling me they were trying to get a new part through Lenovo. I was unable to pick up the call at the time. What that meant, I couldn't tell you. Wouldn't you just call, order another part and know it was on the way?? When I returned Tris call and asked what the problem was about the part, he said they were ordering the part again, and Monday, November 17th would be the new date it would be ready. Before this conversation, I'd been trying to get a straight answer throughout the previous week and was unable to get one until calling incessantly and leaving messages to be updated. Well Monday the 17th came and went with no call. I kind of just gave up and was exhausted trying to chase them down for answers. They were no longer answering my calls, and I was tired of leaving more messages. Wednesday came, and Khan calls me about 12:30 in the afternoon to tell me I can pick up my laptop by 1:45 or get it on Friday. Coincidentally, I was available and not busy with work! So, of course I put off whatever else I was doing to pick it up. I didn't even want to know what the deal was with Thursday and certainly did not want to wait until Friday. So November 19, Wednesday, I was picked up my laptop with new motherboard installed. I appreciated Tris coming from his back office to greet me with Khan and let me know to call them if there were further issues. By now, my laptop was in their possession for two and a half weeks. I went home and proceeded to get my computer up and running again. The minute I tried to switch it on, it went to a black screen. I was in disbelief but turned it off and on again. It finally turned on correctly, but it only restarted once. I decided I would not bring it back here but wanted to hear from Khan or Tris what else might be the problem. (I had decided I'd just send it back to TX.) So when I called Lenovo tech support, I could give them some insight. Well, as usual they ignored my calls. So I decided I would no longer be contacting them for anything in the future. They are nice guys but did not handle the situation transparently and professionally. No one should have to wonder what is going on with their repair or be notified to pick it up with only an hour window. Warranty or not, I would not return here for any future computer woes. read more

With a choice of 3 SF area Lenovo commercial laptop warranty repair options, I sure am glad I gave The Computer Guys a call. Very helpful, friendly, accommodating, efficient, and competent. Got my computer back in working order without having to ship it to Lenovo for a week or more. My Lenovo ThinkCentre got trashed when I downloaded and ran an update from Lenovo. TCG were able to recover only some of my data on disk, but fortunately I had backed up most of the important stuff on Dropbox. We were deep into the COVID-19 quarantine (August 2020) and they were working with a skeleton crew. Despite all the various problems, they were able to get my machine running again. It took a few weeks, but I attribute that mostly to the impediments caused by the virus shutdown. Tris went the extra mile, and he gets lots of credit for upholding The Computer Guys' excellent reputation. I would definitely use them again if I had to. so they promised 2 weeks to diagnose my toshiba, and they got back to me in two weeks. no surprises. however, they admitted they didn't know how to fix my toshiba so, most of that time was wasted on waiting for toshiba to send an email reply to them. ridiculous. my warranty is almost over too! wasted my time. read more

Not worth the time and energy to work with them. I brought in a under warranty laptop and they didn't diagnose the problem, they just put new hardware in the computer. This then created another problem which they could not fix. They recommended re-installing some software and didn't want to pursue any other options. In all, I wasted numerous hours working on their suggestions, had my computer sitting at their store for approximately one month, and nothing was fixed or done. Not a well run business. I found them through a recommendation of a business associate. I had a Lenovo laptop that wouldnt turn on, I thought I lost everything. They took it in for a quick diagnosis (no charge) and offered me a good deal with warranty instead of trying to take advantage of out of warranty labor and parts. It took about a week for the part to arrive but they fixed it. They also answered some questions I had about applications and made a suggestion for backup. They didnt try and upsell me and told me where a deal was on a hardware backup drive this week at Costco. I was impressed, no upsell? no gimmicks, no BS. Incredible service. Brought in a few computer that the manufacturer and company IT wrote off as "lost causes." The Computer Guys returned the computers within two days. I would like to defend The Computer Guys, Inc from those 2 reviews, which I found very inconsistent. I know The Computer Guys for a long time, I used to work for a company called TIBCO, The Computer Guys always does more than excellent jobs. We sent hundreds of laptops there every year. All laptops were returned with 1 day or 2 days max. I can't believe a laptop left for a month unfixed. TCG will be out of business a long time ago, Ask for TRIS. He is the manager there. They have been fantastic in taking care my company laptop/desktop support from Lenovo, HP, etc. We are 80 employees with mix of Lenovo, HP, Apple and Dell. Their staffs are very knowledgeable, courteous and very easy to work with. They even provide free pick up and drop off. Definitely the best support that is rare to find nowadays. read more

I purchased a Lenovo laptop without a webcam and then found out that I needed one. So I called "The Computer Guys" in Burlingame, Ca. and it was anything but a good experience. First on the phone, I told the manager my laptop type and serial and he said he would order the part and call me back. He never called me back. Then, when I was trying to schedule a time to drop off the laptop (Friday), he said on Mondays that they are busy. I asked how many appointments he had lined up and he couldn't tell me because he didn't know - I asked if I could be there first in the morning when they open and he said that wouldn't make a difference, he also told me that his techs don't like to do that work (adding an internal webcam to a laptop), so I asked if he was a Lenovo partner and computer repair shop and he said yes... I didn't get it. I called him Monday morning to schedule some time for the repair and he says, I thought you were going to come today. So I show up at his site and he proceeds to tell me that he might not have the harness cables that go along with the webcam and that he would have to let me know once a tech shows up in the afternoon and that I should leave the laptop for hours. This is an executives laptops so I have to be able to schedule the time with both the repair shop and my CEO. Long story short, I don't think these guys know what they are doing and treated me really bad. I will never go back and would recommend to all of you reading this to not even bother to try with these guys. They shouldn't even be in business in my opinion.
