In December 2025 I brought my Hummer to Pro Tech Transmissions for differential and transmission work. I am a licensed, certified mobile mechanic and came in with clear specifications for what the vehicle needed. Nearly $10,000 later, not one repair I paid for functions correctly. DIFFERENTIAL: I requested a pre-assembled unit to control cost. The owner insisted on sourcing separate components and assembling it himself. I deferred to him. It has leaked continuously since the day I picked the vehicle up, damaging the driveway at my former residence and the parking spot at my current one. Two days ago, while chasing a new noise, I found the differential mount bushing completely gone. The unit is nine months old. A mount bushing normally lasts decades, and replacing it is a major repair. TRANSMISSION: I gave the owner my budget up front and told him his initial number exceeded it. He assured me he could work within my figure. His final price was roughly three times what we had discussed. I paid it. The transmission then failed three separate times. After the second failure, the owner voided the warranty, claiming my engine "had problems" -- a condition with no bearing on transmission operation. His final rebuild lasted one week. I paid another shop $4,300 for a replacement, which has run without a single issue since. That builder found the front pump had been misaligned, which burned up the unit. When I raised the pump as the likely cause with the owner, he became irate rather than addressing it. My Hummer is my work vehicle. It sat for three months while I raised the money for the replacement -- three months I could not operate my mobile mechanic business. read more

1st off avoid this company! I am a 67 year old male I am alsoź5vgʻ handicapped,and greatly needs the use of a dependable vehicle. Ive got a 2018 Tucson limited with a 1.6 turbo. This vehicle has a dual clutch 7 speed transmission. Has 2 actuators that assist with the shifting. 1,3,5,7,and 2,4,6,and reverse. The reverse actuator went bad. I drove my Tucson to 2 transmission shops. Each told me basically the same,but with different price points. I went with Pro Tech,with a price quote on the back of Ray's business card of $1495. Parts,labor,reprogramming the transmission, and tax. This type of transmission is electric so whenever anyone type of work being preformed on the transmission afterwards it has to be reprogramed. After explaining to Ray that was a little pricey. He informs me that he is unable to do so,but that I should go online ,and order the actuator from Ebay. Upon his recommendation I did just that. I sat down in their lobby,got on Ebay. Found the actuator showed it to Ray,whom in turn told me that was it. So I ordered the actuator. A week later it arrives, and I made an appointment with Pro Tech transmissions. That was on a Friday. Drove my Tucson to their Bell rd location. Saturday I get the call from Ray telling me it will cost $1045,and that they had to use another tech to program the transmission. That should of been red flag #1 but I was a trusting fool! I go to Pro Tech,expecting everything would be fixed. I get in and it wouldn't go into reverse, but the check engine light isn't on so that is some sort of progress right? Ray gets in hooks up a code reader tells me it seems fine. Then Ray tells me to drive to the Pro Tech location at 54th ave and Camelback. I'm thinking kool finally getting it fixed! How wrong I was. After about an hour waiting in their lobby,and guy named Mike shows up,starts telling me that they broke what's called a speed sensor. They are going to fix it,and paid for an Uber ride home. 2 days later Mike calls me up,and tells me that they fixed the speed sensor, but they need to install another actuator, and the clutch pack is bad! They want $5,000 to repair it! Huh? I called a tow,and had the Tucson delivered home. The tow driver has to jump start the battery to get it off the flat bed,and again for me to drive it but barely up the driveway. WTF? I drove the Tucson 10 days before to 2 different transmission shops to obtain price quotes for any repairs. And my Tucson not only did not get the proper repairs that I paid for. But it was delivered back to me with a completely dead battery,covered in soot and I am un able to drive it! So again I say here DO NOT GO TO any Pro Tech transmissions locations. read more

If I could rate 0, I would. I have a 2017 GMC Canyon that the transmission went out on earlier this year. I had it towed to Pro-Tech and they said that if it didn't need "hard parts" it would be a couple grand, they called me same day and said that it will be $7800 because the transmission needed a full rebuild. I reluctantly paid because my truck was not operable and they told me that the warranty is 3 year/36K miles. They had it done in a couple days. They told me that they rebuilt the transmission and torque converter (the torque converter was only a couple months old from a different shop and was also an upgraded one). I took it and it drove nice. A couple days later it was leaking transmission fluid. Took it back in and they fixed it. About a week later, it started to have a vibration(did not have a vibration before the work), so I took it back to them and they said that it wasn't any of the work they have done but it was a bunch of other stuff(water pump, harmonic balancer, motor mounts). I paid for them to do the motor mounts which took several days and also cost $1200. I get the truck back yet again, and it drives nice for about a week and then starts to have a vibration again so I call them saying that I believe it to be the torque converter and they told me that it wasn't the problem, that parts are ordered for the other stuff. I took it to another shop that has done great work on my vehicles in the past and they told me that the drive shaft wasn't put back correctly and the harmonic balancer was fine and had no issues with it. I had the other shop replace the water pump as that did have a crack in the housing. He also fixed the drive shaft issue. I took the truck and drove it for about a week and the vibration was happening again so I took it back and we determined that the torque converter is bad and are ordering another upgraded one since Pro-Tech rebuilt it with aftermarket parts. STAY AWAY FROM PRO-TECH!!!! THEY DO NOT WARRANTY THEIR WORK AND JUST SCAM PEOPLE OUT OF THOUSANDS!!! read more

They gave me a price of $2800 to rebuild my transmission calls back in 1 day after he takes my transmission out saying your transmission is no good and now it's $6800 after telling him I didn't have $6800 to spend on the truck after saying let me see what I can do I was just going to buy a used one the next morning at 8:00 a.m. he was calling me saying your truck is done service was terrible on top of that it looks like he just fixed mine and sprayed the bottom of the transmission gray to make it look new when I asked him how did he do all of that within 24hrs he got mad I'm very unsatisfied with the job and the price read more

Pro-Tech transmissions worked on my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. They first told me that they could rebuild my transmissions for 2k, after pulling it apart I was then told that they could not rebuild, and I would need a new transmission for 7k. I asked about a used one, and they said they could put in a used one for 4k. After they installed the used transmission, I had nothing but issues, issues shifting, check engine light coming off and on, etc. Throughout 6 months or so, they attempted to troubleshoot. Pro-Tech replaced my TCM, charging me for parts and labor. However, I continued to have the same issues. I spent a lot of time taking my vehicle in and out of their shop, at one point they had my vehicle for over a month, with no resolution. In addition, I was having a trusted mechanic review the work they were doing. He found that they were not putting parts back on correctly, as well as missing bolts/parts. I ended up taking my vehicle to a Jeep dealer. They found that Pro-Tech Transmissions put in the wrong transmission and the wrong TCM. Jeep had to flash the parts for a lower gear ratio to match the incorrect transmission to resolve the issue. I had to pay for this as well. I contacted Ray (owner), who I have been working with through this entire process asking if I could be reimbursed for the cost from Jeep and the TCM. He said that he would not give me any of the money back. I will be taking this company to court. read more

I took my car in there because it was running funny and I thought it might be my transmission. First of all they said they would drive it and do diagnostic test to see if it was throwing codes. I was only there 10 minutes long enough for the mechanic to drive it and when he came in I was quoted $6,800 for a new transmission. They were right about me not being able to have a rebuilt transmission but what they were wrong about was me needing a transmission at all. I took my car to ABC Nissan it stayed over the weekend they called me on Monday after they had done the diagnostic test and said that my car was not throwing any codes and it did not need a new transmission. I picked my car up today and my car is running like new. I don't agree with them not doing the diagnostic test and trying to charge me $6,800 for a new transmission that my car did not need I do not recommend this business. read more

All that was done to the car was the transmission taken in and out and new transmission oil put in and they wanted to charge us thousands and thousands of dollars for "labor". They have held the car hostage for months on end and refused to release it to him unless he paid almost two thousand dollars for simply taking the bad transmission out and putting it back in. WE PAID $1,500 FOR THE KEYS BACK TO THE CAR WITH THE SAME BAD TRANSMISSION. And after paying that, we were asked to pay $375 MORE ON TOP OF THAT. We were visiting Phoenix from Minnesota. The transmission in our 2008 Enclave overheated as we came down the mountains. We got a quote that caused us to think we needed to junk the car. But then a friend found Pro Tech. Their price was 1/3 a 1/2 the other quote and 3-yr warranty. We love the car and it is actually in very good shape otherwise, so we decided to repair it. The guys were so very nice and helpful (even though they are very busy). They answered our many questions and concerns, adjusted their personal schedule to accommodate our travel schedule, they checked and double checked to put us back on the road safely. They also noticed something else that needed attention. They told us with concern and determination that we should have that item fixed before we went on long drive home. They did not do that kind of work and they didn't try to recommend anyone. So they didn't make a penny on insisting we fix one more thing (which we did). We drove through mountains and high-speed freeways and the car worked perfectly!! I expect to get much use out of this car yet! If I had a transmission issue in Phoenix again, I would go back to Pro Tech with great speed -- but I hope I never need to do that! Thank you, ProTech guys!! Took apart my transfer case to put the magnet in that Pro-Tech forgot, or maybe on purpose, to put in. The RTV was put on excessively, a good job for a differential or an amature. But for a pro it does not cut it. This kind of installation could clog up the oil pump pick up screen and burn out the transfer case way after the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. The manual specifically says to put no more that 3/16" bead. A TSB also states this fact. The technician also installed the housing blots with no Loctite. The housing in magnesium alloy and the bolts are steel. The dissimilar metals will cause corrosion. Also stated in the manual. But they wouldn't care about this because the warranty would be way up before any problems started. *They clearly didn't do a professional job and charged first rate prices for third rate work.* see pictures *Update* 8-21-15 After talking to Jeff over the phone. I told him the tail house bushing was not replace as indicated. The tail house bushing is scored as show in the picture. He then yelled at me for putting pictures up on yelp then hung up the phone. Stay away from this company! Similar to the other reviewer, I paid $3700 to have my transmission rebuilt. I just got back from a trip out of town and attempted to drive it to the store for the first time. I immediately noticed the truck won't go into gear. It literally will not go into any gear 1st, reverse, or any other gear when engaging the clutch. I also noticed the truck is now extremely loud when you turn it on and the sound is coming from underneath the shifter, it sounds like there is a hole in the middle of the truck or they didn't seal it all the way when putting it back? Not sure exactly but the truck seems worst than when I dropped it off to pro tech transmissions on bell rd. I called in and spoke to 2 different people asking them what work they performed and why I paid them $3700 for a broken truck? Both of the men who answered told me they will not tow the truck to the their facility then abruptly hung up on me (twice). I now do not have a working vehicle and am forced to either rent a car or take an Uber to get to and from work. This is just costing me more and more money and this company could seem to care less. I don't feel like arguing with these guys and continuing to get hung up on so I'm attempting to dispute the charge with my bank instead. The people who work at this facility are extremely unprofessional and the work they did is horrible. When I got it back it would not shift thought the gears correct. Ray told me it was a simple adjustment. I Drove it around the block it did the same thing. I left it there for a week to have them fix it right. When I picked it up it did the same thing. I brought it back a third time. Only to have it do the same thing. ******RUN AWAY****** Classic bait and switch. Reverse went out in my truck. Drove it from Prescott AZ to Phoenix AZ. Over the phone they said "950.00" plus hard parts (350.00) on high side. Few days go by and I call them and they tell me "Your Transmission was shot". The truck would not even drive up onto the lift. (TOTAL BULLSHIT). I said You're full of shit I drove it from 125 miles to you and it was fine, and you want me to believe the entire transmission never slipping in any gear except Reverse and took a shit from where I parked it... to your lift? 45 feet? Jeff is a New York CON ARTIST! I knew where this was going. They hand me back my transmission in pieces and hand me a bill for 950.00. So I authorized the work. When it was done and I was going to pick it up is where it gets even better..... 3,200.00 for a basic Chevy 4L80E transmission. I could have bought a performance transmission for this price. 3 year 36k miles. (most people drive 36k miles in 2 years) So its a 2 year guarantee. So the front desk guy calls and gets me "financing". The people bring him over two checks. Finance guy gives the guy up front a kick back check and pays the company. (I have been in sales and I know what I witnessed) Guy behind the desk says to not say anything to the owner. After Fiance charges and set up fees $3,525.14!! I make decent money and I have paid off the loan in a month and a half. In that time it was 8.00 a day in interest in the 1st 2 weeks (130.25 interest in two weeks). Once I made the 2,000.00 payment 2 weeks later, It dropped down to 4.00 a day in interest. in that month it generated (140.86 in interest) I am not mad about the loan company, I know and understand they are high risk in their industry. What I am livid about is the way this company bait and switched me. While waiting for this truck to be fixed, I lost my other transmission in my other truck (4L60) I called up Copper State Transmissions at 1121 S 21st ave Phoenix AZ and I bought the Rebuilt transmission and a new torque converter 1 year warranty 12,000 miles for 650.00 out the door. Family owned and operated. Veronica was amazingly helpful during this time. I was happy to know there are still honest shops out there, We just have to find them. If you are a single mom trying to raise a child and your car went down, some one on a fixed income or just a majority that is out there working your ass off to make a dime and your vehicle transmission goes out, STAY AWAY from these clowns. (1 star is too much for them) Also The financing is not the way. I make 86k per year. If you make less than 20.00 per hour DO NOT USE THE FINANCING. I am sure they will create a fake account and give themselves 5 stars to off set this. I am a hard working person, and I was raped by this company. Beware of this place if you drive a stick. I spent 1200 bucks for a clutch and master and slave cylinder. Like almost all modern clutch systems it's hydraulic and there's air in the fluid or tubes from all brand new parts. This means they used old brake fluid to fill the system. And with air in the system it makes shifting difficult. I have taken back my car. And they say my model car they can't bleed and to hold the clutch pedal down to release air. Now I have to do this trick everyday. And if I'm on freeway for more than 5 minutes air builds up again making difficult to downshift. So either they're lazy and don't want to hold up to their warranty and get rid of the air pocket they put there. Or they have no idea how to fix and replace a clutch. I've seen 4 and 5 star reviews for this place. So maybe they are good to automatic transmissions. Stay away if drive a stick though. read more

I went to this place because I was buttered up on how good they did work the turn around time and my truck would be good as new but in all reality I was ripped off when I got my truck back 2 days later I called and had told them my truck isn't driving well at 3rd gear it revved high and and would shift hard definitely not normal especially for it just being fixed was told give it a couple of weeks to "break it in" after a couple weeks I had called and was told that that is normal well not to me so I said I want it fixed well they said that I'd pretty much be paying for another service for them to check it out pull it apart and see what the issue was but I was pretty much approached abnd talked to like I was in the wrong...so then what is the damn 3 year warranty for???I paid the money to have my truck running great and definitely didn't get that...Dont make the mistake of going to this place!!! read more

Terrible service. Transmission is still bad, not reverse after over $2600. Did not honor warranty, instead charged me $183.00 for wheel bearings, which I did not authorize. Took him 4 days to do this. Ray did not even call me to tell me he was putting in wheel bearings. No excuse, just said, I guess I should have called. I told him that it still doesn't go in reverse. He said nothing wrong with transmission. So now I am out not only the 2600.00 - (which was supposed to be half of that on the phone) I am now out another $183.00 and still reverse does not work. real garbage. was quoted $2250 for a standard rebuild on a 47re. then after i accepted i get a call back and all the hard parts were " trashed" as ricardo says. i offered to go get the hard parts, $800 max from get it hard parts. the bill came to $4900 because "diesel parts are more expensive" and cash price was $4500... i did not have time so i paid it. the truck drives like shit, covered in greasy fingerprints, mud on my floor, my ignition no longer functions properly, and the bill mentions nothing about the hard parts replaced. i also asked to keep the bad parts and did not get them. not to mention the warranty was derated to 12 months, or 12,000 miles. a lawsuit is hapening, this is just fraud. My brother had his truck's transmission serviced here recently and turns out not only did they do a shoddy job, they lied and did not fix the issues under the warranty and then after would not help him any further. It's sad to see good, hard working people be taken advantage of especially during the current climate. My brother took his truck to another shop who confirmed what my brother had been telling this shop since January! Your mechanic put the wrong size transmission bearing! This shop then refused to take accountability for the errors, which cost my brother more time and money as it broke down after the truck was supposedly fixed for the second time, while attempting to go out of town with family. Which because of your sub par craftsmanship caused a ruined trip and wasted money. This shop did not honor their work nor take ownership of the terrible service my brother had here. WORST TRANNY SHOP IN ARIZONA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If there was a negative star thats what I give it. Long story short they rebuilt the tranny in a day and half which was awesome. Worked for 4000 miles and broke down. Took it back 3 other times and they only replaced what they thought the problem was instead of actually rebuilding the whole tranny. I took my aging SUV in for transmission work in April, 2016. After being quoted $1495 for the work that would take a couple days, I got a call on the third day saying it would cost $2795. I drove it too long after it started to fail in first gear and the internals all had to be replaced. My bad, I get it. I was assured it would be ready on Friday, but five more days went by before the transmission was ready. The owner said he was down a couple guys in the shop and that's why it took longer. I never saw more than two guys in the shop at a time. When I picked it up, I noticed a lot more engine noise inside the vehicle. I also did not have backup lights. When I asked if the transmission was back in the right spot, the owner (Ray) assured me it was. He said there was only one place it could be and there was no adjustment. It also leaked from day one after getting it back. I literally had a river of fluid on my driveway. How this shop could give it back to me and still leaking like that is beyond me. I finally insisted they remove the transmission and replace the front seals. When the transmission was finally put back in the right position, low and behold, my backup lights worked again and the engine noise was gone. In the process of putting the tranny back in though, they broke my speed sensor which took 2 more weeks to get the part. I had no speedo or cruise control. It took 7 trips back and forth to fix the leaks and still leaks. I finally gave up. It was obvious they were not going to fix the leak. Each time the owner assured me it was fixed and wouldn't leak anymore. All lies. In fact, pretty much everything that was said to me was a lie. Cost, time to repair, fixing leaks, that the transmission was in the right position, all were lies. Do yourself a favor, NEVER USE THIS SHOP! They are incompetent and immoral. Called for a estimate said it would be $1100 includes all soft parts whatever that means So I had them tow my jeep to their shop. Next day they called to give me a up dated estimate of approx. $2300. When I said I will pick up my vehicle they threatened me with tow costs of $400. plus charges for dismantling the transmission. Worst experience ever took my car to pro tec transmission because all it would not go into 3rd gear I already know it was the blocker rings and had the parts so I get a call back saying I need a clutch and to fix the trans it would be around 3500 dollars there was no way so I went along with it just to see and I picked up a transmission with a warranty and had them do the swap and add a clutch after looking further into it the trans that was in the car was perfectly ok just needed the blocker rings as I suspected.now let's fast forward upon receiving the car I now have a check engine light on witch was not there prior as well as the axel was not put in properly causing it to come out of.the trans and cause some major damage to the car Never in my life will I return to this shop read more
