Once we found Culpepper Flooring and spoke with Matt about our "Hardwood Floor" project we knew we found the right person and company. This project was in a mountain home 6 hrs away from us and finding the right company to do the job was critical because all communication was via texts, emails or phone calls! Matt took great care in removing all furniture from the work areas and prepping the area with plastic wrap, to limit the dust, etc. The final results showed great pride in their work and the outstanding reputation that this company has had for a very long time. Thank you, Matt and team, for doing such a gorgeous job! We appreciated your excellent advice, hard work, professionalism and communication - it was a pleasure working with you! The Bear Family :)

This could have easily been a 5-star review but unfortunately that is not the case…read more.. I hired Matt to install around 1500 SQFT of LVP, which took about 4 days. On the last day I was pleasantly pleased with the final progress. However, here is the issue: In the office, storage closet, and bedroom there was ripped up carpet (which was done during the initial prep) because it transitioned to the LVP. He informed me that he would have someone come "tuck the carpet", because that was something that he doesn't do. He also asked if I can pay him, and I obliged simply because the flooring was completed for the most part. I also assumed he took great pride in his work and wouldn't leave the existing carpet out of place (I was wrong). Prior to leaving he informed me that someone would be coming to my house the next day to tuck the carpet. He went as far as to calling me 10 minutes after he left to schedule a time of 12:30pm. Unfortunately, no one showed and when I contacted him to get an ETA, he never responded. This was well over a month ago and he still hasn't gotten back to me. So now I'm left with paying someone else to complete a task that Matt was supposed to do. This is highly unacceptable and unprofessional. What if the shoe was on the other foot and I didn't pay him what he was owed? It would be a huge issue. Some of these contractors want you to respect their business but won't give you the same respect in return.

I decided to sub out the work. I went on yelp and noticed the good reviews Falcone Custom Tile had. I contacted the number listed and met Michael Falcone. I felt he was very experienced and knowledgeable after meeting and talking with him. It was shortly after he left our home i decided to give him the work. He gutted out bathroom and built us a beautiful custom shower with the tile we chose. The same with our flooring. After the bathroom was complete we had him remove our carpets in formal dining and living room area and installed tile. From the time he started he kept us updated on a daily basis of what was being accomplished. The work came out beautiful and his craftsmanship is outstanding. It felt good to have someone doing work in your home that is humble and trustworthy. A very artistic person.

I would definitely recommend Falcone Custom Tile and would use them again.

I'm extremely disappointed with my recent experience with So Cal Woodwork, especially because I had…read moresuch a positive experience with them in the past. I originally hired James about 8 years ago when we first purchased our builder-grade home. He extended our kitchen cabinets, added crown molding, and completed additional wood trim and detail work. They did an amazing job, and James was wonderful to work with. Because of that experience, when we recently had a horrible leak that required us to replace our entire kitchen island, pantry, and flooring, along with a few upgrades I had been wanting to do, James was one of the first people I reached out to. His wife was incredibly nice, accommodating, and understanding of our situation. James came out the following Saturday, took measurements, and spent time discussing the repairs and upgrades I wanted done. Then--nothing. I was completely ghosted. If he was too busy to take on the project, I would have completely understood. If the project was too small or simply wasn't something he wanted to take on, that's okay too. But after being a returning customer and taking the time to have him come out, measure everything, and discuss the project, I feel like I at least deserved the courtesy of a response. I called James directly and left a voicemail with no response. His wife had also confirmed my email address before he came out, so there were multiple ways to simply let me know they weren't interested or available. It's really unfortunate because I reached back out specifically because of the great experience we had with James 8 years ago. I would have happily continued recommending So Cal Woodwork to family and friends. Unfortunately, after being treated this way as a returning customer, I can no longer recommend them. Such a disappointing ending to what had previously been a very positive experience.

My appointment was rescheduled four separate times, often last minute. As a mom of 10-month-old twins, my schedule is very structured, so the repeated changes were especially disruptive. I understand things come up, but the lack of reliability was disappointing. I ultimately had to move forward with another company. **Update: After the owner's response, I went back and reviewed our messages and he's correct that there were two reschedules, not four. I appreciate the clarification and understand that one of the cancellations was due to a family emergency. Hope all is well with your mother. That said... scheduling delays, limited availability and multiple reschedules still impacted my timeline and planning, which ultimately led me to move forward with another company. I understand that unexpected situations come up, but reliability and consistency are important factors when choosing a service. Sharing this for transparency so others can make an informed decision.

He doesn't rush, which can be tough if you're on a strict deadline -- but it's a huge advantage if you care about the details and want things done the right way. He's honest, direct, and gives you his real opinion, which we appreciated. The main reason we hired him was because of his creative, artistic perspective, and that ended up being the biggest difference-maker. These fireplaces weren't simple projects -- the micro-cement finish required someone with skill beyond a cookie-cutter approach, and Jake delivered. Everything came out clean, modern, and exactly the look we were going for (I attached a picture of the fireplace in our master bedroom). He also went above and beyond by helping with things outside of basic fireplace work, including mounting our 85" TV, doing electrical work to hide cords, and hanging the mantel, which we really appreciated. If you need a job done fast, I'd recommend going with someone else. But if you want high-quality work, a creative eye, attention to detail, and someone who will stay within budget and stand behind their work, The Darling Flooring is absolutely the way to go.
