It seems like Pro Nails is very appointment oriented, as that was the first question they asked me and everyone who came in. I walked in looking to get a pedicure, and after studying their appointment book, decided they had room for me. The service was standard but nice, and the comments about the language barrier definitely rang true for me as well. The lady who gave me my pedicure didn't speak a word to me but chimed in on several conversations going on around the salon in Vietnamese. In some ways I'm used to it, but I can also understand how it would be off-putting to some. Overall though a good experience. Would I go running back to them? No, not really. But would I go back if I was in the neighborhood? Sure. Prices are fair and the quality of the work is about as good as I've seen. read more

This is my nail spot. I have been going here for a while now for my pedis and its awesome. AND I drive all the way over the bridge to go get my nails done here!! I always see the male nail tech Hoai and he always gets it right. He has great attention to detail with the polish, does an awesome french mani or pedi, and always has good stories to tell. Color wise, they have a great selection of OPI colors. I have never had to wait long here and there is lots of parking in the area. Would definitely recommend! read more

I've only gotten pedicures here, so I can't vouch for the manicures or other services. But I will say, the young gentleman there does one of the BEST FRENCH pedicures ever. My toenails are beautiful and impossibly perfect looking-they almost look fake, and they've stayed this way for weeks. The ambience of the inside of the salon is a little bit out of sorts with the fancy QA location, but my french pedicure was only $25 and came with an awesome leg massage, so I can't complain, and will update if I try their other services. read more

This is a solid "you get what you pay for" kind of place. Save the bells and whistles and forget a dynamic spa experience, but if you want cheap and efficient Pro Nails is a good spot. I walked in and was seated quickly. It cost $35 for a mani/pedi. On a positive note, the ladies gave good length foot and hand massages and even gave me a mani/pedi at the same time. I wasn't happy with the drying area. It's pretty small, too small for all of the customers and the staff isnt very helpful getting you and your stuff over there as you try to preserve your wet nails. Went in to get shellac/gel. Decided to just get current shellac removed and get clear polish because I didn't like how rough they were being removing the shellac. They were very nice and the clear polish manicure looks good, but I wouldn't go again for shellac. Removing shellac and getting clear polish manicure was $15. read more

The price is always right here ($35 for shellac pedicure) BUT today the service wasn't. I was literally the only person in the salon and ended up with someone sick ( she left to go blow her nose and DID NOT was her hands before coming back). With my shellac she forgot to put the base coat but cured my bare nails with the light anyway. Whatever... she was sick and the nails looked good so I didn't say anything. But she did the number one pedicure no-no! She skipped the massage not even a quick squirt of lotion! I left with dry ass legs and feet but my nails looked good which is why there's 2 stars. read more

Practices here are unsafe, unsanitary. They don't drain the pedicure pools between customers. Don't sanitize instruments. I went here a while ago to get my shellac removed and they had me soak my fingertips in acetone with a dirty towel over the bowl to contain the fumes. SUPER UNHEALTHY. First, I experienced an infection in one of my nails two weeks after a manicure. This was a 1-1/2 year ago and admittedly I didn't complain. Was one day away from having to see a doctor but soaked the finger in anti-bacterial liquid soap for 2 days and managed to clear it up myself. Biggest current complaint is one of the nail technicians: relatively tall guy: wears a baseball cap and often red eye contacts. I appreciate a fun, flippant sense of humor, but he makes fun of customers and is way out of line, causing his co-workers to blush or roll their eyes. Not acceptable. read more

A friend and I stopped in for an impromptu pedicure. They said we would need to wait about 15 min, which was fine. It was the middle of the day on a cold rainy weekday, so I was pleased to see the salon was full. They must be doing something right. Our pedicure was satisfactory and the nail technicians were friendly. Prices were good. The best part though-- and what prompted me to give 4 stars instead of an average but acceptable 3, was the massage chairs. Oooooh, those chairs. They clearly invested in nice ones. First, nearly two years ago, I developed a nasty infection in the nail bed of my right fore finger a couple of weeks after a manicure here. I caught it just in time before I had to see a doctor about it. I did not report it to the salon and it didn't prevent me from going there since. The biggest issue with the salon is one of the male nail technicians. I don't know his name, but he's tall, wears a baseball cap as well as RED contact lenses. He is incredibly rude in a number of ways, but the worse is that he makes fun of customers while working with other customers. Pro Nails is one of the few nail salons that I have found in Seattle that has great prices and still uses premium products(e.g. OPI, etc.). A mani is $12, a pedi is $20, and a mani/pedi is $30. They disinfect all their tools between clients, are very hygienic about washing the foot tubs, etc. This isn't the type of place that is going to serve you champagne, but it's clean and the owner, Lee, is a wonderful (and spunky) lady. I've been going there for a couple of years, and I feel like they're family. The two best technicians, in my opinion, are Lee (again, the owner) and Hoai (who is a male whose name is pronounced "Why"). Reservations aren't necessary, but they get really busy on nice days. If you don't call ahead, you could possibly get turned away. Note that parking can sometimes be difficult, especially on weekends around brunch time, since 5 Spot is right across the street. read more

I have given this place 4 chances already and I am just sick of it. They do the lousiest pedicure I have EVER had. Not only the first time I went there a young man did my nails (I am 23, he is probably the same age) and he kept stopping to text back whomever was texting him. It was very irritating!! And when he finally got finished with my nails (wayyyy too long later, he didn't even bother to put on a clear coating, I had to remind him. And he didn't bother to clean up the mess he had made on my skin with the sloppy paint job. My pedicure was terrible, the same thing, smeared paint on the skin, and just a lousy quick job, my feet were not soft and it didn't feel like they did anything but trim the nail. Also, I have gone back giving it another try....the older woman who runs the joint is downright rude. I went to get my eyebrows waxed, went into the room, layed down, and the lady proceeded to primp herself in the mirror for about 3 minutes! With me waiting there on her! Brushing her hair...putting it up...urrhgg I was very upset, and won't be going back. Like I said, I have given them chances, mainly because its close to my home and I wanted the conviencnce of a nail place. AWFUL! I would never go back! I went for a mani-pedi (which wasn't cheap for $33) with some friends. The receptionist was rude to us, telling us we couldn't look at the nail colors displayed next to the counter because he "needed his space." I had a series of people working on my feet, because as soon as one person started, they would get called away to work on someone else. I had to remind the final person to add the top coat, because he had no idea what had already been done. Then the manicurist insisted on talking on his cell phone and text messaging through the entire manicure process. When he wasn't on his phone, he was complaining about how much he wished everyone would go away because he didn't want to work anymore. At one point he turned to a woman who walked in and yelled "we're closed." The next day the polish on my nails turned sticky. It was awful, lint kept sticking to my nails. The guy must have put the wrong type of polish on my nails because he was too busy insulting customers and conducting personal business. I had to remove the polish completely. If you like being scammed out of your money and painful ingrown toe nails, this is the place for you. I hate, hate writing Yelp reviews. But, after my experience today I knew I had to. To keep a long story short, I went in for a mani-pedi and when the woman came up to paint my nails, she showed me a different shade of red than I had originally picked out. I figured since my toes were in the middle of being painted, it was so that they could save time and get them both done at once, since no other explanation was offered. I wasn't a big fan of the new shade, but I complied because everyone was so nice, and I didn't think it was a big deal. When I came time for check out, I asked why my bill was an extra $13. The woman told me it was because it was a special type of nail polish (maybe it lasts longer?). I was never told this when shown the color, nor did I know that it was more expensive. I expressed that to the manager, who did not care. On top of all of this, my (overpriced) finger nails and toe nails were clipped down to the skin, and are dreadfully uncomfortable. Needless to say I will never, ever be going there again, and am currently in the market for new suggestions for moderately expensive nail salons. read more

I always get my nails done here! The location is very convenient and my gel manicure lasts forever. My nails grow out before they chip at all. I usually get my nails done by the young man who works here and he does a fantastic job, very detail oriented. I've been to this location and the lower Queen Anne one. They're both solid choices! I've always had friendly, personal service--you can tell when there's a bad vibe in nail salons by observing the employees, and it ain't there, here. Less busy, typically, than their sister location down the hill, I saw a customer greeted w a hug as she introduced her new daughter in law to the staff. I have been doing homemade pedicures lately (hello, recession) but Arizona calls for extra help. I've been to Pro Nails a few times...lower and upper QA locations. I certainly can't complain about the prices. $20 for a pedicure. I went to the upper QA location this time and they have upgraded their pedicure chairs, and it looks like they have upgraded overall. It was all so efficient and professional. They are busy on the weekends, so an appointment wouldn't be a bad idea...though I've only done walk-in (oh, that whole commitment thing). This place is a few blocks from my apartment, so I really wanted to like it. There was literally not one good thing about the experience. It was painful and rushed, the people working there were rude, my polish chipped almost immediately, and the mani/pedi was just of poor quality. My friend whom I went with said her manicurist was painting her nails like how a little kid would - putting the polish everywhere and then wiping it off of the skin around her nails. I called an hour ahead t make an appointment for a spa pedicure. Had I not, it would have been an hour wait (day before 4th of July). They were done in 45 minutes and I waited 15 minutes to let the polish set. They used 2 different scrubbing methods too! Total charge was $20 which is a lot less than I expected. read more

I've tried hard to like this place because it's close to my house, and the ladies who work there are generally friendly. Some of the people are good, others not so much. But there are problems: - The last time I had a manicure, the manicurist drew blood, literally. Ouch. - - And she didn't properly clean her cutting tools afterward. Health risk. - They don't disinfect their instruments. - I always am very specific with the ladies about not cutting my pinkie toenails, because for some reason they are very sensitive. My pedicurist today definitely understood me (her English is fluent), cut it anyway, and I nearly jumped out of my seat. She said "but look how even it is". WTF? It really hurt. I said "OK but DO NOT cut the nail on my other pinkie. Well, I looked down and she was going in with the clippers. Trust completely blown - I left. It was this last incident that tipped me over the edge. I'm going to find some place that won't draw blood and is clean. Sure I'll pay more and it won't be as convenient, but seriously.
