I have been going here for over 10 years. I always get gel on my toes and a flower. The last 2 times I went the flowers were absolutely terrible. They didn't even resemble flowers and this time they look like a 5 year old did them. Everyone who works there demands a tip and it's pretty lame when you're walking out unhappy. I got my nails done here 2 weeks ago (reason why I'm not going to post a picture). I usually come here a lot because I like how big it is and the atmosphere in here. This time I was extremely disappointed in the service. I went with my friend, the man who gave her a pedicure understood English, we both wanted the basic pedicure without gel polish. The lady I got ( I think she's the owner) never asked me what I wanted but I told her I DID NOT want gel polish. Halfway through the pedicure I realize she's doing way more to my feet than my friend. I told the lady I just wanted the basic pedicure No gel polish. In the end she still puts gel polish on my toes & charges me 25 extra. The entire time she was being really rough on my feet and one of my toes started bleeding. She completely ignored me. I paid $65 dollars for this pedicure, super unhappy. I know she understood that I wanted the basic pedicure with no polish. Then I left the tip part blank because I was frustrated but didn't want to make a scene. She pointed to it and asked me to tip her. So fine I tipped her $7. I will not be coming back here again. I didn't want to spend $73 on a pedicure that made me uncomfortable and bleed. read more

I went in today for a pedicure and thought I would treat myself to their most expensive pedicure since I hadn't had one years. After having a great chair massage, The gal was very sweet and I did not receive any buffing or anything whatsoever to my heels or feet at allI! My toenails looked better even I left since I had no polish when I went in but as I went to the register and the service was $95 i was shocked as the menu said $65 The add ons... UGH that aren't mentioned. I still have rough heels and pretty much could have painted my toenails with my own gel nail polish and given myself the pedicure that I received today myself. I have been getting my nails done here for over ten years. It all started when I was going to UAA and had a couple of classes at the University center. I would go in and get a pedicure between my long breaks. The business is family owned and have had the same core staff the entire time. One star is seriously being generous. I went here for an Acrylic set, my first set. I did not know what to expect but I did not think that my first experience would some of my fingers cut. The issue started after she applied the basic acrylic (nothing done to it just the glue) then she cut it off. She says that my finger is crooked and in the end result she really emphasized the crookedness of my finger. I got cut when she was using her nail file, she nicked me a couple of times and I was so nervous when she kept on filing. I had a hang nail prior to my appointment that scabbed up, I left with no scab. My thumb and pointer finger hurt when pressure is applied to the side because she really filed the side of my nails. Would not recommend this place for acrylic nails at all. The vibe was not what I was expecting. Listen to the reviews and do not waste your money going here. read more

Had the worst pedicure of my life. I was trying to treat my best friend to a pedicure for her birthday. My friends manicurist took great care of her thankfully and Gave her a long massage and he did a beautiful job. My lady was rude and gave me a half-ass massage. She nicked my toe, I was bleeding but I was trying to be polite. She didn't acknowledge it or care. Next day I woke up my toe is throbbing and painful I'm suffering from a bacterial infection I think her name is Mae?! Worst customer service experience. I was a walk in and was told there would be a wait time, which is expected. Multiple other walk ins for mani pedi same as me come after me and everyone was taken back even though I had already been waiting 40 minutes. I've been getting my nails done at Pro Nails for a few years now and they always do a great job. They get you in and out while still maintaining quality and care. The nail ladies are so kind and thoughtful. It does get packed but they try to squeeze you in. Though not the most "chic" nail salon in town, it is clean and the pedicure chairs, nail dying station and hand wash all function properly. Stop in! read more

They are good if you want solid colors but I came in with a simple stripe design and they could not do it. They tried several times but they came out more like fat blobs. I finally said enough and resorted to poke-a-dots which they still have a little trouble with those too. One star is being nice. I took my mother and girlfriend there to get the feet and hands done. The people taking care of them were rude and were refusing to listen to what they wanted. They were rough on their toes where they both started to bleed, then when my girlfriend just started to get her hands done, they told my mother she could not get theirs done. They were rough on her hands and caused her to bleed. After the appointment where they were rude and chose not to listen and provide a reason why, they asked for a tip. When I got my acrylic nails done here, the nail technician definitely rushed the job and came off a little rude. My nails didn't even last a day without getting super scratched and unpolished looking. I came in the next day to see about getting them touched up. I was sat down in the waiting area and not helped for TWO HOURS (it was not very busy, there were technicians open but they made me wait for a specific one to help me). I left feeling unsatisfied. I decided to come back since I have been a long term customer and thought one mess up wasn't enough to no longer be a returning customer. I got a fill and said I wanted regular polish on top, NOT shellac because of the extra price. I made this clear. The lady brought me a choice of nail colors, and I chose one. I was happy with the look and very pleased. However when it came to check out, the total was $50, not $25 as listed for an acrylic fill. When I asked what the extra cost was, she said it was for shellac nail color. I told her I was not aware she did shellac on me and said again that I specified I wanted regular color. She again told me the total was $50 without apologizing or anything. I felt tricked into paying more money, double the price actually for what I was expecting. I will not be coming back here again and don't recommend others to come here either. Especially after being tricked into paying more money, I feel like I was stolen from. Another thing that happened was how poorly treated my friend was. They shaved her cuticles so far and close to her skin that she has been bleeding and not stopped. Even an hour later after returning home from this salon her fingers are still bleeding!! This is the second time this has happened to her. We were dumb for even giving them a second chance after what happened the first time. If I could do less than one star I would. read more

While in Alaska for vacation I realized I really needed a manicure, being in Hawaii the past year, it had been a while since my nails faced any sort of cold. Did a quick tell.seaech and found Pro Nails. At first it was hard to find but then realized the shop was in a little mall. The shop is very clean and bright, and the ladies all really friendly. I was able to get in right away and have my gel manicure done. I have to say my nails feel and look so much better! While the Chicago native in me is used to cooler for, my nails seem to love the Hawaiian airlines and we're rebelling against me. It is hard for me to rate the business off one visit; however, this nail tech said she had been there 10 years, and this is how everyone does it. I would actually rate the tech a 1. I didn't receive the service I paid for. I asked for the deluxe pedi and was looking forward to the massage and smooth feet. My tech was texting and on her phone for most of my appointment. She barely acknowledged me even when we tried to get her attention. She sat almost 15 minutes after my friend's tech started her, and we were done first. She barely took the emery board to my feet; they are still rough. My water was cold, after the 3rd time mentioning it and a nudge from the other tech she finally added some heat. When she went to put my polish on BEFORE doing my lotion and massage, I questioned her. I told her I would pay extra to get a massage like my friend had received. She said she would do it after. She lightly rubbed and was cautious not to mess up my nail polish. She never applied the mint that was extra with deluxe. When I questioned her about the service, she asked how many times I had been in her shop. I told her it was my first. She said she'd been there 10 years, and that's how it's done. It allows the polish to dry while she completes the service. When I suggested that my friend received better service, she said her tech had only been there 2 weeks, she doesn't know. She knew I was dissatisfied with my service but obviously didn't care. I often get my nails done and have had pedis in many other states as well. I have NEVER had my polish put on before finishing the rest of the service. If this is the standard here, it shouldn't be; a good massage can not be done while trying not to mess up the polish. If you choose to go here, ask for Sarah; she obviously knows how to satisfy her customers and do a good job - great customer service. She is why I gave 3 stars. This shop would have received 5 stars and raving reviews had I received the same service. I did not get my techs name nor did she offer it. read more

I did the dip powder/gel (I think that's what it was called) and I thought it would be $45. She said it would be an extra $10 for the design which is fine. But at the end of it all she charged me $80. My friend and I showed up for mani/ pedis one Sunday and the place was hopping. The girl did a good job on my pedi and I appreciated the extra scrubbing on my heels and also the leg rub. However, when she moved on to do my mani things went downhill fast. When she was trimming my cuticles she kept pulling them and making them bleed. It would be one thing if it just happened once, but it kept happening over and over to the point where I made her stop the manicure. I went here with my friend because I received a gift certificate and the women doing our nails were unfriendly, while mine was also very rough. When I told mine to please not cut the sides of my fingernails (which I've never had another place do!) she didn't acknowledge me. When she did it again and I told her it hurt and asked if she could just file them instead, she just kind of sighed and told me to go wash my hands. My gel mani was 2 sloppy coats that left polish on my skin and white space around the edges, and my cuticles extremely tender. Worst of all, when we went to pay we were informed that the prices posted for the manicure and gel polish were separate: $25 for a manicure, and $25 for the gel - so $50 total - she also laughed when she told me this like I was a moron. I know this is Anchorage... but I've been elsewhere here and out of state and not paid more than $35 for an amazing gel mani. (They also charged my friend an additional $5 to remove her previous gel, which I've always had included if you're getting gel.) When I got home, one finger had started to chip, so I just peeled it off and painted it myself. I received a recommendation to visit this place when I had a last-minute urge for a manicure before my little wedding ceremony--they were great and squeezed me in before they closed. Since then, I have had nothing but positive experiences here for my rare pedicure and rarer manis. But be wary, they are almost always packed. You can make reservations, though, but you may still have to wait if it's full when you arrive. Fridays and weekends are the busiest. Evening during the week is also busier. I don't indulge often in nail stuff, maybe 2-3 times a year, but when I do, I want it done right. I want the paint to be done precisely, to last a while, and the massage part to be a pleasure, and they meet all of that criteria. My manis from there usually last a week (which is a very long time for me with my paint-chip prone activities, which is why home manis last maybe three days), and I've had pedis that last a month from them. Plus, they have amazing massage chairs that really make it feel like I'm getting an all-over massage. (It's extra impressive how they can do a precise paint job when the rest of my body is vibrating!) They make each visit well worth the money, though I would say that they are just a bit more expensive than other excellent places I've been outside of Anchorage. They are very clean and use disinfected tool and disinfect the bowl between patrons. I've been taken care of by at least four different professionals there over probably eight total visits, so I feel fairly confident saying that you're in good hands no matter who you see. I did once have a manicurist who cut one cuticle too short, so it bled slightly. But she was very sorry and to be fair, I have very thin cuticles and actually often make myself bleed when I cut them. But they've never done it again. When my feet finally get to see the light of day again, I look forward to the next time I have a little extra to go indulge. read more

Absolutely worst experience, I came in with my daughter to get our nails done and for my daughter I told them I wanted a full set gel with two colors and she did shellac instead of what I requested. I requested ombre for mine and the gentleman proceeded to do the nail dip! Mind you I showed him a picture of what I wanted before he started then he proceeded to tell me that they did not have ombre after he finished one hand. Politely asked them that they remove the nails that they put on my hand and the lady insisted that I get a different style which I did not want any other style but omgre. So finally she removed the nails and the other lady finished with my daughter I went to go pay and she tried to charge me $25 more than what I would've originally paid for the gel.
