I waited until all boxes were unpacked to write my review. Our move was June 11, 2015. I am starting off my review as the move started off. Abat, Sean, & Aleksey arrived promptly & introduced themselves, and while Sean, & Aleksey went out to look over the best place to park the truck, before we even signed the paperwork, Abat informed us that their customers normally give a 35% to 40% tip, but that we could tip a little less since we were both older on a fixed income, but that he had to look out for his guys. The company's hourly rate is good, but 35% to 40% of the total cost of the move adds a great deal to the price & is about 30% more than what my prior Google internet search & research of 6 different websites stated was appropriate We were not told this when we called the company a few weeks before to schedule the move or even the day before when they called to confirm, so being the day of the move, we were forced to proceed. Including the lunch we bought the crew, we ended up tipping them 38%, which was $325 above the cost of the $792 move! I called their company about an hour before our crew finished & asked what was appropriate if they were doing a good job, & the office, too, told me 35% to 40%, but the office also told me we didn't have to give them anything if we didn't want to, & to feel no pressure. Abat, Sean, & Aleksey did try to do a quick job & tried not to waste a minute. For our 2 bdrm, it took them 8 hrs & 15 minutes to pack, take things apart, load, drive about 1/4 of a mile to our new 2 bdrm, unload, & put things back together. 5 steps were involved on the move out, but none on the move in. We did have a lot of little things & we did nothing before they started, but that was 2 hrs & 15 mins longer than the moving company's office, the movers, or us expected,& the same amount of time longer than Allied to move us last summer. They even disconnected a computer & printer + our TVs & reconnected everything when it was unloaded. And, they only took a 15 min lunch, for which we were not charged. They also did a few "honey do things" that we two non-mechanical women asked them to do. They were always very well mannered, never complained, & very nicely did everything we asked them to do. They packed a lot of our stuff in our trash bags to move it instead of charging us for boxes + used these huge cartons called SpeedPaks that could almost fit both a washer & dryer in one for a lot of our loose stuff & unpacked the SpeedPaks before they left because they take those back with them. So we didn't have as many boxes to have to cut open, dig down to unpack, & break down as expected; instead we had to put the stuff that was moved in SpeedPaks where we really want it as we later decided & organize. They do unpack those SpeedPaks in the rooms you wish. They even packed & unpacked our fridge & freezer items. I really wanted to give them a 5 star rating because Sean told me that when they get 5 star ratings on Yelp, the company awards them with gift cards and/or days off, so the day of the move, it seemed they really tried to earn that rating. But, I wanted to wait until we were all unpacked & I was sure nothing was damaged. Abat, Sean, & Aleksey did a good job; however we did have a couple of pieces of furniture scratched a little & a couple of knobs knocked off that we can't locate, plus a few little things got lost in the move, though nothing they would have cared about taking for themselves. I wish we had only tipped them $50 each so I could give them a 5 star review and let the company award them with gift cards and/or days off as the rest of our tip, but in light of the damage & lost items and the 38% tip, I don't feel the extra rewards are warranted, so am giving them 4 stars and have recommended them to a friend about to move with all the above information ahead of his decision. read more
