Thank goodness I'm the type that actually reads brochures others set up at local business's, otherwise I would have never found out about this spot!!! After grabbing a flyer from Darque Tan, I called the number & set up a meeting time with Nick. Super sweet, cool guy. He got my girlfriend & me all measured, weighed, & signed up for the 9am training class. When we arrived the next day for our actual class, we were greeted by Alfred (see his business card in pics I posted). ANOTHER super sweet, funny, cool, dedicated guy!!! The three of us immediately clicked as if we had known each other for years. IMO, the best thing to have with your trainer is a great relationship!! Alfred works us HARD!!! I love how understanding he is when you feel like you need to take a breather. I've experienced some pretty crappy trainers in my day (one of which was obviously drunk & on drugs...See my review for Blast coming soon) but Alfred is right on point with everything!!! The trainer I had a few weeks ago started me off with 75lbs on each arm, fast bench presses, 1st exercise & it tore my shoulder/arm up. Just so happens Alfred is a PT & is not only working me out 3 days a week, but also doing rehab on that arm of mine. LOVE IT!!! Every body builder, trainer, and client is super sweet & soooo friendly. Alfred was even able to refer my husband to a doctor that their body builders see, and everyone has made a point to ask how my husband's doing!!! THAT'S LOVE!!! The entire facility (which is in a warehouse) is extremely clean, sparkling bathroom, up to date equipment, & fully stocked with water, sports drinks, energy drinks, & protein shakes. If you're looking to do weight training, one-on-one personal training, boot camp, and much more, I STRONGLY suggest giving Alfred a call at Athletes Edge!!! They pay attention to each individuals form and make sure the person is doing the right level (beginner to advance) throughout the whole workout. Safety is not on the back burner here. The workouts are great and challenging. In the classes the people help and encourage each other without question. if you want to make small gains over time for big wins in your health, mentally and physically, this is a great place to start.

The community is unlike any other, and the members support each other both inside and outside of the gym. If you're looking to shed some weight, A LOT of weight, or just even tone up and get that beach body then you need to give this gym a try. I've been to different locations and this one has become by far my favorite for multiple reasons: 1. The space of this gym is much larger than your typical Orangetheory gym, you don't have to worry about the tight spaces by the lockers or climbing one another while entering the workout room. You immediately see the difference once you walk into the studio. 2. The head trainer, Nikia, is by far my favorite coach at all Orangetheory gyms. I love the way she gives every single client equal amounts of attention, you'll never feel left out when she's coaching. I have certain training restrictions that prohibit me from using treadmills so as a result of that I stick to riding the stationary bike. I've always felt left out when going to other trainers because they usually forget to give direction to the one biking. I've never had that issue with Nikia, when she directs the treadmills to step it up she also instructs me to take it a step further on the bike and I love that. 3. The rest of the staff in the studio are just some of the most friendly bunch of people you'll ever meet. All of them are super approachable and welcoming and if you have any questions about something they are happy to help. The general manager of this studio, Maggie, did an amazing job of putting together an awesome team and you can see that everyone here works so well together. If you're looking for a new gym to call home, come check out the Spring location. It really is a gem.

Then I found this gem, which just wasn't on yelp yet! I had my first class here today with Elizabeth and it was excellent! For those of you who haven't experienced Barre, it is low-impact and focuses on small isometric movements to tone all those hard-to-engage muscles using ballet-inspired but easy moves. I'm the opposite of graceful but Pure Barre has given me better body awareness and flexibility at my own pace. Elizabeth's instruction was great, providing detailed description of the next movement without stopping the flow, and going around making small adjustments to everyone without calling anyone out for an off position. She remembered everyone's name, and let you know you were doing a good job when she saw you working hard or giving your all (the goal is to "shake", because the muscle is getting tired it wobbles or shakes a little). I've seen pure Barre change my body from doughy and shapeless to lean and toned, so I'm in love with it. It elongates, tones, and slenderizes you all over. I even noticed an instructor from a nearby fitness center was in the class. This location has great music, very friendly staff, and is super clean! I love the look of the studio, with a bit more wood accents than most, it looks (and is) very upscale! It's also in the PERFECT location for those in the Vintage Park/Champion Forest area. Just a hop and skip from H-E-B shopping center, right by Dunkin Donuts in a plaza. Walking Distance from those who live in any of the "San" apartment complexes. I'm definitely going to be a regular here!
