Awful place, bad attitude bartenders which shows in the crappy service, drinks are not good, people just mailing it in. Yes, they have tv's but the experience is terrible due to the service. Also, food options suck. Not a good place to hang out. read more

I had been eager to try this place, but unfortunately it fell far short of my expectations. The patio where I planned to sit was dirty, with trash scattered across the floor; when I asked the cashier to clean my table she wiped it down, but not thoroughly, and the trash on the ground was never swept up. The restrooms were also unclean and lacked basic supplies like toilet paper, which made using them unpleasant. When I asked for hot sauce, the only option was Cholula, but the bottle looked off -- white residue inside like it was spoiling -- so I didn't feel comfortable using it. On top of all this, the manager was sitting at a table inside the establishment and I wondered why the place was in such disarray with him just sitting there! Overall, the experience felt neglected and poorly managed; this spot needs a complete reinvention and a staff who take pride in their work. Adrian S. read more

Good food, great atmosphere, and great service. The food is tasty and fresh. We had the chicken and Brie sandwich and beef skewers.

Busy. Busy. Busy. If anyone doesn't like crowds, this is not the place to be. Fun place but definitely not enough table/chairs for the amount of people they let in. Line at the bar took about 10-15 minutes. Looked around for a spot, but no luck. Went upstairs even more crowded. Would like to try again some time hopefully better chances at having a seat. Drinks were good. read more

Always looks really cool driving by, lot of people, games on the big screen, upper level looks fun. Lungs aren't allowed upstairs, no biggie. Got the rodeo barrel nachos. "Steer" clear of this $25 cow pie, it is beyond basic. Chips are very cheap, could've been good with cantina style or fresh made, but these are the dollar store tortilla chips. Meat is good, but overpowered by the "cowboy caviar" which is a mixture of beans, corn, either cottage cheese or queso fresco, nacho cheese, tomatoes, jalapeños. That's it. Unappetizing. Margarita with ungraded tequila still tastes watered down, a cut water would have been better. First and last visit. read more

PRK 101 - Rodeo barrel nachos, a dud - Beer Bar Near Me - Carlsbad, California

Park 101 is a great spot for food, drinks, and catching Sunday football! Ok, the food - The Rodeo Barrel Nachos are an absolute must-get. They're loaded with melty cheese, cotija cheese, and pulled pork. These nachos are on another level. Don't forget to take a "reveal" video of them as the barrel is lifted off the top. Then the smoked wings are some of the best in North County. Good wings are tough to find these days, especially with many places cutting back or taking them off the menu entirely (looking at you, Tower 13!). The vibe is great for Sunday football, with a HUGE TV and a fun crowd. The day we went, the service was slow. There was only one server for the entire place, which meant we had to go up to the bar to order. Overall, we'll be back back for the food and the football. read more

Absolutely terrible service for no reason & lady working bar behind el carol bar section or whatever was very rude to black/mexican customers. Today's my girls birthday and she wanted to catch the game & eat some food beachside but unfortunately they do not respect nor do they want to serve people of minority. We ordered our food and after we did they changed the game immediately after we specified how we came to watch the game here. So them changing the channel on us during the 2nd quarter was annoying but the service went from pleasant to very rude quickly. Not that serious but I will not be returning due to the attitude & poor service i received at the bar. The fact that they chose to interrupt the game in the 2nd quarter to throw on something else is mind blowing. Also keep in mind no one else is here watching the screen just me and my gf. Been here before and comparing the service from then and now is night and day. Downgraded a lot since it opened and I'm extremely displeased with everything INCLUDING the food but that's a whole different paragraph. DO NOT RECOMMEND if you want to enjoy NBA/WNBA games. read more

While the smash burger was very nice, high quality beef, sauteed mustard onions (yum!), well seasoned, with cheddar substituted for American cheese, on a lovely brioche bun; the fries had an unusual and tasty seasoning; and the bartender's drinks were really perfect.... the tables were absolutely filthy with grime... as if they had not been wiped in a week. So minus one star for lack of attention to cleanliness, and next to no table service... read more

We were here celebrating a close friend's 30th birthday and ended up having the night cut short in a really disappointing way. One person in our group tripped going up the stairs, and another discreetly got sick in the bathroom--not ideal, but nothing dramatic or disruptive happened at our table. An employee who was in the bathroom (not cleaning or helping) apparently overheard and later told us the entire group could no longer be served due to "liability." At that point, most of us were drinking water and had ordered food to help anyone who needed it. We were trying to be responsible, and no one was being loud, disorderly, or causing issues. We understand the need to follow policy, but this felt like a judgment call based on assumptions and private moments, not actual public behavior. The lack of discretion and the way it was handled left us embarrassed and disappointed. Definitely not the way you want to remember someone's milestone birthday. read more

I come here with friends often and its a great spot in Carlsbad if you're looking for a lively atmosphere! Great drinks as well! I get the watermelon mule read more

I recently visited Park 101 and ordered the tri-tip from the BBQ section of the menu. Unfortunately, it came out looking more like roast beef or prime rib--definitely not smoked--and it seemed like they were trying to present it as brisket, but it just didn't deliver. The flavor was really lacking, and overall it was pretty disappointing. I also ordered the cowboy caviar, which was served cold but had very little flavor and wasn't much better. Service was another downside--our waitress was missing for long stretches and didn't offer refills. They advertise that their meats are smoked, but the tri-tip had no smoked flavor at all. Having spent time in Texas and Oklahoma trying real BBQ in the past year, this felt more like it had been cooked in an oven than a smoker. I did mention my concerns to the manager, who was very polite and offered to bring me something else, which I appreciated. On a positive note, Park 101 has a cool vibe and lots of TVs if you're looking for a spot to grab drinks and catch a game. But if you're coming strictly for the BBQ or the food, I wouldn't recommend it. Like many SoCal restaurants this place seems to exist as way to sell drinks rather than focusing in on the menu. Also, the food is pretty expensive for what they are serving. read more

Very cool spot in Carlsbad. I liked the open concept and the fact that they had two floors. The service was really quick and the drinks were refreshing. I liked that they had a wide variety of food on their menu and the Trap Shack was just right outside of the space. They had a large projector screen on the bottom floor and I'm sure it gets busy and fun during sporting games. They also had corn hole available to play. The seating was picnic style but there were a few round tables with fire pits, which would be so nice if it was an evening or just a colder day. Great spot to hang out and grab drinks! It's also kid friendly. read more

The food I can forgive since mediocre food is not uncommon but here you pay a premium for under seasoned bar food with terrible service. Our server rolled her eyes at least 3 times while taking our orders. After being MIA for our meal she handed me a card reader and no itemized receipt. Since we were dining with a group, I stupidly payed without asking for one. Turns out, not only do they add a 20% charge for a 5 person group, they also tack on a 5% surcharge. buried somewhere between the warning of eating undercooked food they say it's a "voluntary" fee that can be removed if you happen to know about it ahead of time. Since they're added fees and not gratuity, you also get to pay extra tax on them. This place is a scam. read more

Ok, first? Alicia the manager is awesome! So personable and a wonderful part of this place! She listened to us and gave us a birthday beer to make our evening great (which hadn't been up to that point) for my friends 65tj birthday! Will definitely be back! Nice place, lots of outdoor seating. Pros: Service was great. Our server was friendly, attentive, and matched the energy of our group. Tri tip tacos were good. Home made beef jerky. Been here a number of times. It's a good casual spot--set up well for larger groups, sports games, kids, and dogs. Food is decent. Two recent experiences rubbed me the wrong way: At the bar, they just flip the card reader around with the total. There's no way to review the itemized bill before signing, so I only found out afterward that instead of the $16 Wednesday burger-and-beer special, I was charged $28. On the payment screen, the first option is a 30% tip, with amounts listed in descending order. For a place where you wait in line to order and bus your own table, that feels misleading and excessive. read more

The atmosphere was fun for watching a game or drinking beer with the gang, but honestly the food was under seasoned, cold and underwhelming. If you go here, just drink and watch the game and you'll have a good time. Order food and you'll be disappointed. read more

Had such a great experience here it was very fun and the food was great! I got the Big BBQ sandwich and it was just spectacular. The vibes are super good, lots of singing and laughing! I hate to be that person that says if I could leave no stars I so would, but unfortunately I have to be. We went for super bowl Sunday with my friends, we got in line and everything was looking good. Once we got to the front of the hostess stand they asked for ID's, so I pulled my Real ID out. They see my friend's ID & kept mine for a little. Amaya, asked a customer if he thought my real ID was real or fake the customer walked away and she gave me my id back. we waited for another 5-8 min hoping to get in before the half time show and we didn't, we didn't mind since we could see it from outside. My friend asked if anything was wrong and if we could go in & Amaya said "they think her ID is fake" "her" according to mine. I said nicely, you can check the DMV website & see that my real ID is one of the newest one. I just got mine at the end of last year. She takes my ID again & finally asks the security guard if i'm able to come in or not. He proceeds to say "you guys can't be doing this", what I got from that is that this wasn't a first time occurrence. read more

After watching an amazing sunset, we walked in to town to find something to eat. I'd been here before but just for a beer. After reviewing the (fairly limited) menu, we were seated at a picnic table. You have to walk up to the counter or bar to order, which I knew but they probably should have mentioned. Many of the drinks on the menu sounded kind of crazy - especially the "Elvis", which I couldn't get any of my table mates to try so I could try a taste. I had a "New Fashioned" which was very good, and later a hazy ipa which was also good. I'm a meat eater, but I wasn't feeling it so instead I had the Vibe Bowl. Nothing objectionable- beans, rice, avocado, onions and tomato with some chimichurri. It was surprisingly good. After, we sat at the fire which was really enjoyable. Extra star for that. read more

Every time I come in town to visit friends we end up here on a night out. We love the outdoor ambiance that is beautiful year round. Spent New Years Eve here and had the best time. There was lights and a DJ and the countdown on all the screens. They are always busy and bustling on the usual nights out. Often times it's hard to get a seat as it's so busy. Drinks are definitely on the pricier side, so we mostly get pitchers to share. Overall nice servers and a fun joint to hang with friends. read more

It was better when they had servers take your order at your table. Having to go to the front and stand in line to order food is lame.

This is a great place to go for a casual delish meal with a group of friends. You order and pay at the bar. The food is excellent and comes out quickly. They have a great mix of salads and BBQ. I had the Chick sandwich and it was super tasty. The coleslaw was my favorite. The outdoor seating is lovely on a warm sunny day but they also have propane heaters for a chilly evening. Their cocktail menu was extensive and tempting but I skipped it this lunch time around. Highly recommend!! read more

Came here last night 12/03 for their weekly Tacos and Trivia night. FIVE OF FIVE STARS. If Yelp gave a six-star option I'd click that. The food was divine! I haven't had tri-tip that flavorful and tender in twenty years...and I grew up on a cattle ranch in Montana. The service was impeccable. Chad is the type of professional and attentive server of which all other servers are judged. I just can't say enough positive things about Park 101. Oh and the Trivia night was a blast! The host was smart and funny (also handsome) and really puts on a show. His questions and content are like no other trivia game in America. A+ Highly recommend. If you like great food, great trivia, great music and an all around great atmosphere my suggestion is drop everything and head over to Park 101. You will not be disappointed. read more

Great place to have a beer and watch a game. Good selection of beer and an upstairs patio as well.

It's been a while since I posted my first review, so I thought I would provide an update. I've been coming in pretty frequently lately and usually always order the same things. Pulled pork and Brisket are my go-to's. This last visit when i was browsing the menu, The Hot Chick really caught my eye and I thought what the heck, I'll give it a try! I got the chicken fried and let me tell you; this was a pretty damn good sandwich! I really enjoyed it! The chicken was cooked perfectly and I love me some spicy sauce. The cole slaw really complimented the sauce! I'm definitely ordering that again! The service is always on point and everyone is super friendly and attentive! Had an amazing experience here at Park 101 and have to give a huge shoutout to our server Emily! she was absolutely phenomenal! Stopped by after a long beach day in Carlsbad and from the moment my family and I sat down, she was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. I ordered the Surf and Turf Fries and was completely mind blown. Perfectly seasoned, loaded with flavor, it was absolute perfection. It's rare that a single dish makes me want to come back immediately, but this one did. Emily checked in just the right amount, made great recommendations, and had the kind of upbeat energy that makes the whole dining experience better. She really went above and beyond! I always keep coming back because the atmosphere is always cool. Place has been packed lately so seating could be a little difficult at times. Food line has been shut down for a minute but you can order food at the bar. Big portions and good food had us stick for a minute. Brisket sandwich Was freaking stacked bro!! Big slices of smoked brisket staked up high on a brioche bun I guess. Had to eat some of the pieces before I could take a bite lol. Hot chick Dude. A big ass chicken filet spiced up on a bun that can't match up lol. This sandwich will fill you up. Had the Mac n cheese on the side and it's ok. I like a little more creamy and cheesy. Anyways still good stuff. Smoked turkey club One of their specials so probably for a limited time. This actually hit the spot for me because I was looking for something a little bit lighter than the traditional bbq because I still had a long night of drinkin. Lots of turkey slices with bacon!! Bacon!!! Park 101 is always fun and a great place to get started. read more

As someone who knows the hospitality industry well, I've given Park 101 more than a fair shot--visiting multiple times in hopes things would improve. Unfortunately, the experience has consistently been disappointing. During our most recent visit: * One person in our group potentially experienced food poisoning afterward. * Drink ticket times were over 15 minutes, which is unacceptable for a casual spot like this. * Two out of four food orders were incorrect. * A drink was spilled, and the server simply walked away without offering help, a towel, or even acknowledgment. * The quality of food and service continues to decline, with little regard for accuracy, timing, or guest care. Management feels checked out, and the warped blue plastic on the tabletops (damaged from sun exposure) is just another detail that reflects the lack of attention and pride in the experience. This venue has so much potential--a great location, fun outdoor setup--but they're falling flat on their faces over and over again. It's time they take things seriously before it's too late read more

Service was horrible. The hostess was pleasant. Unfortunately, she did send us upstairs, which is 21+, and I was accompanied by my 18-year-old son. The wait to get drinks or greeted when we finally sat down was over 20 mins long. Basically, we sat down and were ignored the entire time till my son went to speak to the hostess. The food was underwhelming ate 1 taco, which was decent. The pickled onion was refreshing with the chimichurri, and the wagu burger was good a bit tough and cooked overwell. Unfortunately, the waiter did not ask how we wanted the burger cooked. The BRUSSELS SPROUTS were utter disappointment, and along with their mac and cheese inedible. The ambiance was nice. I loved being able to watch some baseball today, just disappointment overall as it was Mother's Day, and my son did try to plan something relaxing and thru no fault of his own Park 101 let him down as well. read more

Terrible service. When we were seated, we had to wait 20 minutes just for someone to come up to us and ask for water. Then, he said he'd be back in a minute to get our order. We waited 10 more minutes for him just to come up and ask for our order and he still did not. So we waited even longer and ended up having to leave because of how much time passed. It's always good to spend day and evening by the ocean. Carlsbad is one of my favourite places to do so. After exciting beach day, I always like to relax at Park 101. This restaurant and bar has it all. It's located in the heart of Carlsbad Village and within few minutes walk from the ocean front. You can come here with family or group of friends. The ground floor area has plenty of seats, some with nice fire places. This is ideal spot as it's right next to their kitchen area. They offer selection of plats with some good meats. Opposite the kitchen, there is fully stocked bar so you won't run out of drinks. There is also top floor bar (age allowed 21+) which is my favourite spot. You get good views from here overlooking the Carlsbad Main Street. There is enough space to accommodate big party. This bar has good selection of beers and also dedicated stand for live DJ.
