Chicken Flautas
Nazira L.

Got invited for some friends to try Primos MX kitchen for the first time. Sat at the bar and the service was 8/10! I had to ask for water a couple of times but other than that the service was good. The ambiance is cute it can be good for a drink after work to dating. The parking was really hard because it's no designated parking for the restaurant. I had to do street parking and paid with the meter. The food was below average I ordered chicken flautas. It just wasn't flavored. The Flautas was fried very hard to the point it was a little overwhelming. The guac was good though!

Socially Distant Dining Area

Came here for a late dinner with a few girlfriends after our original plans went downhill. Even though the whole night leading up to this was not ideal, finally ending up here made it all worth it! It was super cute and cozy inside. Also, all employees were wearing masks and social distancing was clearly in effect so that definitely put us all at ease. This location closes at 1:00 am on Saturdays and while we arrived around 10:30 and were informed that the kitchen closed at 11:00. So FYI - keep that in mind in case you think you're going to slide through here at midnight for a drunken late night snack after running the streets, NOT GONNA HAPPEN! Anyway - our server Cameron was so sweet and helped us get all of our orders in before it was too late! He was very gracious and informative and didn't make us feel rushed at all. I ordered the carne asada fries and they were DELICIOUS!! They definitely didn't skimp on the toppings and I really appreciated that. I also had the primo villa dip, which is basically a loaded queso with beef, avocado, pico de gallo, and crema! I completely forgot to take a photo but it was absolutely fantastic!! I had some left and it reheated wonderfully the next day. I'm so glad I got a chance to finally try Primo's, as it has been on my list for awhile. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back whenever I'm in the Uptown area!

Great location off McKinney next to Breadwinners, only downside is limited parking spots. Inside is spacious and includes a nice bar area and a small area for a band to play live music. Menu covers about everything you'd see at any Tex-mex spot. Frozen house margarita was solid. Ordered the chicken enchiladas with salsa verde. Right off the bat I noticed portion sizes across the table were small, but the food was solid. I liked that they served refried black beans. Overall good experience.

Great place, thanks Yelp! Prompt, & kind service from the bartender. Had the Tortilla Soup & a Taco Salad. Both were fantastic! Great flavor & huge portions. Big bowl of tortilla chips & salsa to start which the salsa was delish!

Frozen Pineapple Mule

Met friends for Happy Hour last week and loved this place. We went on a Thursday which is $5 frozen drinks. My friends loved the frozen margaritas, but my favorite was the frozen pineapple mule. Carne asada fries and guacamole were also a hit. We sat at the bar and the bartender Mya was very informative and quick. We'll definitely be going back!

The presentation of the food wasn't so great, no was it as yummy as I expected it to be. The happy hour isn't really a happy hour...they just give half the food from the main menu at half the price. My drink (not pictured) was called "Ranch Water" and it definitely tasted like that...water. Overall was kind of disappointed with the experience. Also-from a cleanliness standpoint: the bartender touched all glasses from the rim and fingers inside. It made me not want to order more drinks.

Speechless mediocre food Service No words! Still can't wrap around my head how a place with like -primos is open Does anyone around here know what Service means?

Amazing food, amazing service, very strong margaritas . Will definitely come back! Ambiance was great, fast service. Was originally a little hesitant about coming because of the negative reviews, but I don't understand why they have them... I had the combination #1 and loved it. Get the Grand Marnier added on top of your marg!

Emily was a great host/manager/waitress! She listened to my feedback, especially since the "rooftop bar" Waterproof turned us away bc they wanted $75 per head in our group! Emily was the best host and made sure we felt welcomed at her bar. This is a manager that is out there doing the work next to her employees! Colten made me the best margarita with tajin

Kiaya S.

This place is delicious!!! Love the chips and salsa and the quesadillas were on point! We also tried the frozen pineapple mule which was to die for! The manager was nice enough to sneak us a dessert which was super kind - DO NOT MISS THE CREME BRULE CHURROS

My first time visiting Primos was definitely a success. My fiancé and sister came along with me as we embarked on $2 Tuesday! What's that you might try ask? Well, on Tuesdays, Primo's has this awesome deal of $2 margaritas!!! I was so happy because margaritas are my favorite drink. Once we got the drinks rolling it was time to pick some food. I got the carne asada fries. It's under the appetizer menu, but it could definitely be an entree. It was loaded with all the good stuff. I was so full from it I couldn't even finish. I definitely recommend checking out Primo's! It's a really cool spot in Uptown Dallas who know what it means to have a good meal to remember.

Carne asada fríes and chicken tacos

Service was horrible. Waited 30minutes+ even with a reservation made 2 days prior to our dinner. Food was also super mediocre which was disappointing due to having a long wait time to receive our food. And to put the cherry on top had to wait 40+ minutes to get our cards back after paying while seeing everyone stand around and talk in the back. Definitely would not recommend.

Wednesday is amazing delicious fajitas day! Wow! Presentation is awesome as well. Lisa has been so delightful the couple times we visited.

Where is your happy hour information ? I don't see it on your website. Thanks!

Are dogs allowed on the patio?

Hi Jessica! Yes, our patio is dog friendly.

Happy Hour at all locations?

The one connected to the Statler says 3 - 7 p.m. weekdays (as of July 2022)

How much are the mimosas and what size? Thank you!

they commonly do $1 mimosas but I think that fluctuates! and standard champagne flute size

How often do they have music (loud events?) late into early morning hours...like 2am? Thanks.

Is there a working phone number? If so, what is it? Having a working phone is imperative for a new restaurant.

214-935-5111 is the correct number for the restaurant.

Our cocktails were all good - and the appetizers were very good. We had the crispy pork belly and the tostaditas with barbacoa. The crispy pork belly was especially delicious and I would order as my own dinner in the future. It comes with onions and sauces and corn tortillas and it's to die for - so crispy and flavorful. We ordered the Bistec enchiladas and they were good but not as good as the appetizers. They give you a variety of sauces when you're seated that you keep throughout the meal - from mild to spicy but I would say the "spicy" is on the mild side. Still good and flavorful but not unapproachable for most ppl. We had the Campechana dessert and it was a little strange. It was basically a vanilla Icecream cake with a crispy waffle cone like layering that was really hard to break until it sat a while. It was oddly addicting but also not that good? I can't explain it. We went to the cigar lounge area after dinner and had Mexican espresso martinis and watched football before heading home. There was little smoke smell but very minimal until it got later. Around 8:30 (on a Saturday night) ppl started smoking cigars and they opened the side windows and being 90degrees right now - it became less enjoyable so we decided to end the night. In the fall that room would probably be quite lovely with the windows open. They have comfortable seating and fire pits. Really more of a 4.5 out of 5. Loved the decor near the restrooms and patio too.

There was a time when Meso Maya was the go-to for upscale Mexican in Dallas. The culinary scene in Dallas has changed so much that it is not longer the case. But the downtown Meso Maya remains an icon and continues to deliver consistently good food and service. The restaurant still has the warm ambience and remains in good condition even after all these years. It was too hot to sit on the patio so we ate indoors. The interior is smaller than I remember. The restaurant still starts you out with complimentary chips which are strips, and a smoky, spicy salsa. it was great. I started with the a mescal margarita and it was excellent. The kid had Topo Chico and the wife had Prosecco. Everyone enjoyed their drink. For entrees, the wife had her favorite, the vegetable budin, which is like a lasagna. The flavors were deep and rich. She loved it. I tried the carne tacos and they were excellent! The meat was tender and smoky. The beef had been marinated for a wonderful flavor. Good quality with no fat. I usually avoid ordering beef at restaurants because I often get more fat than meat which I detest, but not at Meso Maya. Our server Luis was very good. Present when we wanted and not when we did not. Overall, the restaurant was a hit on every level--ambience, service, and food. We like the downtown location the best and will return.

Original review: I really wanted to love this place, and I was so close to doing so. The good: the ambiance was cute and fun. Loved the decorations, the bar is big and takes up a lot of the area where some of the tables are making it a little crowded but that's not a big deal. They had a performer there that night and that was cool. The item we were so excited to try was the biggest disappointment, the chicharon! It looked so good but it was so bland and chewy. We thought it might have been undercooked and ordered another second and asked them to cook it longer but alas it was like chewing on nothing. And that is the common denominator with all the food here. It was so bland. The only item I enjoyed was the jalapeño and cheese sausage. The salsa was bland. The meats were bland. The chicken was overcooked and dry. The drink in the bowl was good. But other than that the meal was a disappointment which is truly sad because we were looking forward to the meal, and it was pricey too. Had the food been good we wouldn't have been bothered by the price. We needed some flavor that day.
