Guajillo Glazed Shrimp

Sat on the patio for a nice brunch. The guajillo shrimp had a nice flavor, spicy but not too spicy. And the Mexican fried rice was really good. Main complaint was the rum horchata was really small for too much money. Was expecting much more than a small martini glass for $15.

Food is very authentic here, from the chips and salsa to the rice and beans. The chile relleno I got was very good, along with the frozen margaritas. Service is great, and the ambiance is nice. Good music playing on the background.

Decided to try Escondido after seeing it super busy the other day when we were going to another restaurant nearby. Definitely a great first impression. They were still super busy and got us seated pretty quickly. I recommend the fajitas, so much food to share between two people. They even provided extra tortillas on request. I had yet to try other dishes here, but will definitely be back. The restaurant has an outdoor patio that is pretty popular as well, especially on nights with nice weather. They even accommodate for large parties, as there was a big party seated near plus of about 15-20 people.

Last Friday, I tried coming to Escondido to eat - and it was packed. We went to another restaurant, but I hoped in a Tuesday night I could get in - and luck was on my side. We were seated immediately and I was happy. We ordered the el trio - queso, guacamole, and cilantro ranch. Okay, so it's time I tell you - you have cilantro in the name of anything and I'm going to order it. I LOVE cilantro. Well, all three dips were delicious, and my favorite was the cilantro ranch. When we ordered dinner, I got the chicken fajitas and my husband the salmon. My fajitas had a jalapeño grilled with the onions and chicken and it did give it a kick - but what a great kick of flavor it was. And the display for my fajitas was a thing of beauty. The fixings, rice and beans were in the bottom level, and the fajitas were on to. It was layered on top of a pizza holder. Genius! Our waitress was Jessica, and she wins the most attentive waitress award from me. When our chips were getting low, I didn't have to ask for more chips. No sir! She walked over with a fresh (hot) basket of chips. How refreshing! And when our drinks were half empty, she was right there filling them up. And she did it all with a smile. This wasn't just a job for her. She knew her stuff. When my husband asked for menu suggestion, there was no hesitation - she started telling him the most popular items and why he would enjoy them. I didn't get many pictures of the inside of this lovely place, and that's a shame because it's a gem. There were enough people in the restaurant and I don't like taking pictures of people (when possible). But whomever designed this restaurant knows what they're doing. It was cozy, had the feeling of home, with splashes of elegance. I loved my experience here.

Great service from the moment you walk up to the porch of this place. We received a nice warm and friendly greeting reminiscent of walking into a friend's house. While the patio is inviting here, the evening was settling into a coolness that made the warmth of the interior much more attractive. From the tile on the floor to the lighting on the ceiling this place has a great feel. Add the Mexican music and you are carried away to a different place. We ordered the Ancho Butter Fajitas and the Guajillo Glazed Shrimp. The Fajitas were served with grilled jalapeños, potato, peppers, onions, cheddar cheese, pico, guacamole, rice and refried beans. The Shrimp were served with Mexican Fried Rice, and a field green salad. Both were absolutely delicious and items we will order again on future visits!

GREAT environment. Really like the decor. Came for a friend's birthday. My meal was very tasteful despite being one of the healthier options. Chips and salsa were good. Drinks good. Overall, solid place.

What a fabulous evening! Escondido is a super cute restaurant with a nice heated patio for chilly nights. We came in to celebrate our friends bachelorette and the wait staff took such good care of us! The drinks were so tasty and refreshing! We started with the trio of dips. The queso was my favorite but all three were so good and tasted like they were made from fresh ingredients! To eat i had the chicken enchiladas with red sauce, rice and a side of the elote. I dont think ive had better elote in my life so far! I wish i could have taken a whole to go container home of it! The enchiladas were also super tasty and filling. Others at the table ordered tacos and other versions of the enchiladas and they were all just as happy with their meals! At the end our server surprised our Bride to Be with a pink tres leches cake that was melt in your mouth and absolutely to die for! I will definitely be back when I am in the area again!

Preston Hollow has another Tex Mex winner. Menu , atmosphere, and service provide excellent dining. Lunch today was cheese enchilada with Queso, crispy beef taco, rice and beans. Chips and hot sauce were fresh. Tomatillo sauce on the side provided a tangy addition. Worth a visit!

Chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce

First time trying this spot - it was okay! The patio has a nice vibe with tvs in the bar area (has heaters in winter) and the inside is bright and light with fun decor. The service was okay, nothing memorable but not bad. Apps: queso perfecto with a side of flour tortillas. The chips are thicker so be careful not to fill up - people who prefer thinner, lighter chips will not enjoy these heavy chips. Entrees: you can mix and match the sauces on the enchiladas so I tried the chicken enchiladas with the sour cream sauce (good!). The portobello fajitas were delicious but the portions on the side setup were rather small.

Looking for a relaxing Mexican restaurant with family type service... well you found it here. Ask for Israel aka Cesar and you will be well taken care of. I had the combination chicken and steak fajitas and the queso made with brisket and guacamole just absolutely delicious. Definitely will visit again next time we make it to Dallas. Gracias!

We came here party of 6 for dinner on a Saturday night. We had a reservation and were seated inside. Our waiter was quick to serve us and we ordered drinks I had a skinny margarita that was terrific served in a tall glass. The menu is a wonderful combo of Tex mex and Mexican entrees. Our table ordered a varied of entrees including carne asada chicken enchiladas a beef taco and enchilada the pork chop and the salmon. I had the salmon and a bite of the pork chop--- they were both amazing!!! The restaurant is very well decorated I loved the cactus chandelier and the outside patio is beautiful. This fall it will be lovely to sit outside. Great restaurant worth a repeat visit!!!

Had such a nice lunch with my family at Las Palmas! This was our second time visiting this location…read moreand it definitely lived up to the hype again. Since the weather has been so nice lately, outdoor seating is super popular, so I'd recommend making a reservation if you can. Even though we didn't have one, they were still able to accommodate our group which we really appreciated. The service was amazing...everyone was so polite, attentive, and fast. The drinks were delicious and the food came out surprisingly quickly as well. They also offer valet, but if it's packed, there's parking across the street too which was convenient. Highly recommend for a nice lunch or dinner during the weekend. We'll definitely be coming back again!

The location is super cute and always packed. You definitely need a reservation or have to go super early to get a spot. There is valet parking as well as street parking, which can get a bit crowded. I've had a ton of different food items the years, but their fajitas are their signature dish for a reason! It comes out sizzling, fresh, and delicious. Do not pass up on the bone marrow sauce, it transforms the dish to beyond a 10/10! The salsas are always good and then tortilla chips salty and fresh. I start with a skinny margarita w a salt rim, which was good. Our waiter, Abraham, was great! He was very attentive and was very knowledgeable about the menu. We also order the ceviche to start, which was yummy! The crackers were a bit of an odd pairing for me and I stuck with tortilla chips, but overall delicious!! My friend ordered the steak quesadilla and thought it was tasty too.

This joint is quintessential Tex-Mex. Kitsch on the walls and a menu full of stuff that includes…read morethe same 3-4 ingredients. Cold, spicy salsa. Even colder bottled beer. The service here was great on my visit. The atmosphere, albeit a little crowded, was comfy. As I do with my first visit at any Tex-Mex joint, I order the combo plate. I was very pleased with it here. The taco was crunchy with nicely seasoned (non-greasy) ground beef and lettuce and cheese served on the side (I told them no tomatoes). The tamale had a wonderful brisket-like filling, although there was a little too much masa for me. The cheese enchilada was filled with actual cheese, which is a good (if not rare) thing these days. The chili con carne topping was wonderful, as was the rice -- which is among the most perfectly cooked that I have ever experienced in a Tex-Mex joint. The refried beans were run-of-the mill. I must say that the enchilada tortillas are firmer than most. Not necessarily bad, but they definitely don't par-fry these things before rolling. I tend to judge Tex-Mex joints by their salsa. If it's served warm, I take points off the board. This stuff is served ice-cold and has a wonderful bite. Bottom line: If I lived here, I'd be a regular. Excellent Tex-Mex.
