Don't think they have a Philly Cheesetake and they close early on Sundays. So this Sunday I felt like a Cheesetake so figured I would try Primos. Arrived at 7:50pm on a Sunday and ordered 2 sandwiches. Both medium sized. The store closes at 8pm. The two ladies in the back were visibly upset. One said "What the he**! Leave us the F*** alone!" I love primo hoagies and this place doesn't disappoint with its food. The chicken Diablo was excellent as it is everywhere. But the service is a bit slow and they were out of dirt pudding. They still manage to serve up the same excellent hoagies every location does though. So they get a good star rating. I'd always wanted to try this place so I stopped in today and ordered an American Hoagie. The place is very clean and they seem to follow all rules for Covid. The staff was friendly and they took my order very quickly. So why did I take off stars? Well, compared to other places, the hoagie I ordered seemed very small for the price I paid. And when I opened it at home - surprise - it was not what I ordered. I ordered an American hoagie. I got what looked like an overstuffed Ham & Cheese. So for more than $12 bucks I got a sandwich I didn't request and bottle of iced tea. The food tasted okay I guess; not bad but not spectacular and NOT what I ordered. read more

Poor service is not that way to keep regular customers. I stopped by yesterday between 2:00 and 3:00. I ordered a Primo Turkey Diablo and a small tortellini salad. The young lady that took my order couldn't have been more bored. No smile, no thank you, no nothing. Ditto for the woman that made my sandwich. Came in and ordered a whole Sharp Italian hoagie. My husband pointed out that we get $3 off tonight since it's Monday. As we ordered the hoagie and mentioned the deal, we were questioned about why we thought we'd get $3 off. Another customer said it's on the Primo card. Then we showed the guy the card and he insisted the only deal was the Monday $5.49 deal. He had to ask another person behind the counter what the $3 off deal was all about. They weren't sure but because it was on the card which was on all their tables, they had to honor it. Then when we got the hoagie it really lacked the lettuce and onions. The meats and cheese were okay. The seeded roll was good. Primos has good rolls. Had to wait a long while for this hoagie. It was kind of a disappointing experience. I think it is only this place. When the local hoagie shops are closed, Primo's is there in a pinch. My problem with Primo's is the price. I mean we are not in South Philly here. $10 for a 9 inch hoagie is not cheap. I can get the same size down the street for about $4 cheaper. The Hoagie is always packed with meat and toppings, I do like the shredded lettuce aspect. The seeded rolls are key as well. I usually go with the Audie (Roast Beef & Turkey) it works because I usually can't decide between a Turkey and a Roast Beef Hoagie. This way I get the best of both worlds. Sometimes you can find a coupon in the clipper magazine to save you a few bucks. Also the lady at the counter I can tell when you are miserable. I've eaten here about 15 times in the last several years. Never again. Food is excellent. Service is non-existent. Would be easier and more friendly to order from a Kiosk. That said the biggest issue is, the last two times I've went here they said they were closing and couldn't serve me. Thats a real problem when their hours state they are open until 8:00 pm and I arrived at around 7:20 to 7:30 pm. I went to the Primos on West Chester Pike and Eagle Road on Wednesday, July 7, 2023. When I arrived at the store there was a man already in the store. I ordered my sandwich and waited to pay. The man (who is nonblack) went to pay for his sandwich with a credit card (we were both paying with a credit card). The credit card machine was not working. The manager came from the back to reboot the cash register. After the cash register came back up the credit card machine still was not working. The manager of this establishment asked the man "do you have cash?" the replied "no, just a credit card." The manager then asks him "is this your sandwich-pointing to his sandwich" to which the replies "yes." The manager then tells the man to take his sandwich for free. The manager then states to me "There is an ATM machine across the walkway, so you can get money out to pay for your sandwich." Oh, by the way I am a black female". I stood there in disbelief. I was totally shocked. I said to him "NO." and I walked out in total disgust. I let all my friends on Facebook know do not give your business to this Primos. While walking to my car the man who received his sandwich for free told me to report him to the cooperate office and he was never coming back to this Primos. My friend accidentally left his phone there. He returned the next day to recover it. The manager claimed he put the phone out by the dumpster. Sounds shady. Why would someone put a phone by a dumpster and not hold it in the store? This manager sounds like a great guy. This is the same place that notorious for getting orders wrong and skimping on sandwiches. I hope my friend can get his phone back. I definitely wouldn't eat here again. I went to this place on my way to my parents house and stopped to get 3 sandwiches and i have to say i was highly disappointed. The sandwiches were made nicely, everything looked fresh but they were absolutely "cheap" on the meat and toppings. I paid well over $30 for 3 sandwiches and chips and for me to be really disappointed is the reason for the 2 stars. Rock solid hoagies. Great variety and will make hoagies not on menu. They make great Italian Hoagies (several variations), Chicken Cutlet are my favorites. Turkey, veggie, roast Beef are all good. Chips, soda, case stocked with speciality foods. Even their Rice Pudding is good. Only thing I wish they made would be Steak sandwiches. Yep, no steak sandwiches. But Hoagies are all great. First off, I love Primo's hoagies. They have a fantastic variety and they use excellent quality meats and breads. The price is a bit steep but you get what you pay for here. That said Primo's is a chain and so the service is incredibly important when you consider one location versus another. I've read the reviews here about the poor service so I was reluctant to give this location a try but I had a groupon so I decided to give it a shot. I'm glad I did. I had no problem using the groupon the staff was great both on the phone and in person. I did not see the grumpy female clerk that others have mentioned, the guy that waited on me was great. I say give this place a try, hopefully you have the same experience I did! Also, try the dirt pie (I think that's what it's called) - that stuff is AMAZING though you'll be hard pressed to find the room for it after eating a primo hoagie! read more

Pretty much agree with everyone else about the customer service. The girl who took my order seemed really annoyed and just plain rude. But! My turkey and cheese hoagie was great, just how I like it. Just the right amount of meat, veggies, mayo and oil combo. I got the unseeded roll which was nice and chewy. It has been really hard for me to find a good clean place to get my hoagies in the Delco area. I have to echo the sentiments of the other reviewers re: customer service. We forgot to use my groupon when we paid and when my husband asked if they could void and re-register our order, the initial response was, "just use it next time." Then, he was told that if he paid cash, that would be much easier but it wasn't possible to do with a credit card. Fortunately, my husband persisted and the issue was fixed, but it seemed like a much bigger deal than it needed to be. We also waited quite a long time for our food. Though, once we got it, we were quite satisfied, as the ingredients are high quality. All in all, it's expensive without a coupon and the level of service should be higher to justify their prices. Probably would go back with another groupon. I hope that they are able to iron out some of these issues. read more

Primo. Primo. Primo. Seems to be a common theme for me lately thanks to Groupon taking me on a tour around DelCo Primo locations. I'm happy to say that my hometown Primo Hoagies experience has ranked right up there at the top of the list. As there seem to be quite a few mixed reviews I'm happy to throw a straight 5 star yelping at them. Friendly and efficient on the phone ordering and just as friendly and efficient when picking up my food. But to earn that fifth star the sandwiches would have to be on par with the best of my other Primo experiences. They were! My Audiablo was perfectly packed with spicy goodness. Built as ordered with substantial turkey and roast beef. There's just not much more to say. It seems people either didn't like the customer service side of things, or it's an experience like I had - worthy of a big Yelp Woohoo! Since my last review on this location, I have been to this location a few other times. I must say that I seen some different employees, but for the ones who I recognize, they look and act completely different. For the employees who I had complaints about, were smiling and polite as far as service goes. This made me pretty happy to the point where I had to post a review. The food is always on point with this place and now this place is one of my favorite locations. It is crazy how people can affect the quality and service of their product! I don't know what you have to do in order to get what you actually want from this place. I hate getting sandwiches that are a pound of meat with two slices of cheese. They have a hard time understanding that here (and at most places that make sandwiches, to be fair) and I have to go over it a few times each time I try to get a sandwich. The last time I used this location, I tried ordering online in the hopes that putting my desires in writing would help the sandwich maker to actually fulfill them. After placing my order, I received a phone call. The first question was how much cheese did I want (How much did I think I was going to get on a small sandwich?). The next question had to do with their deep-seated desire to put pepper on everything. Mind you, I had not checked a single box-including the one labeled PEPPER-in that section of the build-your-own part of the website, but they apparently could not conceive of someone who did not want pepper on their sandwich. In the very small box where one could leave BRIEF special directions, I had said explicitly that I didn't want oregano on my sandwich. They said that they understood that but they were going to put some pepper on it because they "like to pepper them up." I was also told that I am "very specific", and that I "must be the boss", whatever that means. My husband ordered a tuna sandwich made from solid, white albacore tuna-one of their options-but they had to call because they didn't believe that he wanted that. By now, you won't be surprised that it was because that tuna is "bland" and they do offer a tuna salad option. After some unnecessary discussion, the caller seemed to agree to give my husband what he requested. (Possibly because my husband did request that some oregano be put on his tuna, so that was spicy enough for them to accept.) Today, I agreed to give this location one more try on the condition that my husband deal with them. He got online and checked the same boxes that we checked before (with the exception of drinks, chips and the size of the sandwiches, we were placing the same order as five days earlier) and didn't check any of the boxes that we hadn't checked before. He decided-against my wishes-to refrain from saying "no pepper" in the special instructions and instead concentrated on the cheese to meet ratio. Is anyone surprised that after he hit send we got a phone call from Primo's? This time, all they wanted to double check was that he wanted the bland tuna instead of the tuna salad. From what I overheard, they seemed to acquiesce more quickly this time. We made sure to double check all of our sandwiches after we picked them up and-you got it-both non-tuna sandwiches had PEPPER on them! The explanation given (with a small apology) was that "that's the way they usually make them." I don't give a flying leap at a rolling hoagie how they "usually" make them, if you have a special instructions box, look at it! Follow the instructions! As my husband pointed out, don't put pepper on a sandwich when pepper is an option and one that the buyer has not checked! My husband also wondered with regard to not just Primo's but all kinds of restaurants, how hard do they think it is for people who want pepper but didn't get it to add it to their food? I can tell you it's a lot easier to add it when you wanted it but didn't get it, then it is to get it off your food when you got it, didn't want it, and hate it! One last thing before I'm done with this place forever is my telling you why we didn't add the chips and drinks to the online order this time. It's a good thing that last time we checked the order before we left because, even though we had asked (and paid) for three drinks and two bags of chips, there weren't any of either in our bag. I went back in and nicely asked the girl at the counter, "Are we supposed to grab our own chips and drinks?" And she told me, "Oh, I didn't know they weren't in there." Again, not sure why they even have boxes to check or write in, or a build-your-own section, or choose to give any illusion that you can get what you want and what you ask and pay for at this location. read more
