I've been with Carmine for years and his work is by far commensurate, if not superior in value for his level of both competency and service. A true Brooklyn hero. Thanks Carmine read more

Carmine is absolutely fantastic. He's been servicing our boiler for the past two years. Not only does he do incredible work, displaying his expertise in the trade, he also is patient and offers explanations to the client so that you better understand the presenting issues. He's been very responsive and has saved our butts more than once, but yesterday takes the cake. We woke up to zero heat on one of the coldest days of the year, and after contacting him, he arrived very quickly and the entire issue was resolved in under an hour. I'm making a very strong recommendation that you go with Primary Plumbing and Heating, you won't be disappointed. read more

My hot water boiler had small leaks. I was able to reach Primary Heating and sent some photos of the boiler. He responded quickly, gave his evaluation and estimates. This was couple of days before Thanksgiving. He was able to secure the boiler purchase, had it installed, and removed my old boiler a day before the holidays. Primary Heating is friendly and reliable. I would reach out to them again and highly recommended to others. read more

In a nutshell, Carmine is dishonest. He charged me $800 to install a new floater for the boiler when all he did was clean the old one. In fairness, once he was caught, Camine refunded the money. Here are the details. I have a rental unit in Brooklyn, and this winter the tenants said the heating system was noisy and a radiator was leaking. I don't live on site and trusted Carmine as I had worked with him previously. He performed annual maintenance on the furnace; had installed a monitoring system for it; and had been helpful when the chimney collapsed. So when he said the furnace needed a new floater, I didn't think twice about it. But the problem recurred. He made a service call, and the heating system worked properly for a while. Then it happened again--surprising for a new unit. I asked Carmine who manufactured it, where he bought it, was it under warranty, etc. He couldn't recall, didn't have the receipt, uses lots of vendors, etc etc. Finally said it might be defective and that's he would "install" another brand new one. Because I don't live on site, people who work on the rental take photos and email them to me, so I can see what was done. One such vendor, who had worked on the unit, had taken photos of the floater. Turns out the "brand new "floater was the original one that came with the furnace. Same label, same part #, same date. So disappointing. read more

Carmine is NYC to the core, runs a one-man shop, and genuinely loves what he does. He's communicative, on time, and knows boilers, period. He's been doing this work for decades and knows his stuff. If you need a check-up, have an issue with your heat, and need an honest professional, then look no further. read more

I've used Carmine for a few years now to do my yearly inspection of my boiler. However, yesterday was when he really came to the rescue for me and my family. We woke up to a leaking water heater that was leaking into the boiler room in our basement. We were beyond stressed when I called him but he walked me through everything. He even looked up to see if my water heater was still under warranty which I didn't even think of because it was there when we bought the house. Thankfully, it was under warranty! He gave me the name of a distributor that was able to get us the water heater the same day and Carmine installed it shortly after. Woke up to chaos and by the time we went to bed all was normal again. Carmine made this stressful situation into something manageable. I was happy to have him guiding me through everything. Definitely will continue using him for my boiler and heating needs. Also, just as an extra, our boiler was clearly not taken care of when we first moved in and was very dirty and clanged a lot. After a few years of yearly service with Carmine it has improved tremendously. I'm always amazed when I turn it on and it's silent as a mouse :) Thank you Carmine for all your help! read more

Great service!! This is the second time we have used Primary Plumbing. This time we had Carmine install an Ecobee 4 thermostat. He was on time and had all parts needed to rewire the boiler for the Ecobee. He insured the thermostat was working correctly and instructed me how to change the settings and install the remote sensor. He did these work about 3 weeks ago and we are very pleased with the efficiency of the boiler and the temperature of the rooms. All for a very fair price. We highly recommend the business! read more

Carmine is absolutely the best! He's a one man shop by choice and specializes in old boilers. He is extremely professional, knowledgeable, polite, and funny. He came to look at my 1987 Burnham boiler, completely cleaned it out, inspected it, changed some old parts, and taught me how to maintain it. He's responsive and timely and chargers a fair price. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone! read more

The boiler in my home was over 40 years old and should have been replaced years ago. I pushed off replacing it as it was still working. However, with increase heating costs I wanted to replace the boiler with something that was more efficient. I called three plumbers for estimates and I went with Carmine and not the lowest bidder. Carmine was able to explain the entire installation process, any National Grid rebates that were available, and most importantly explain that the unit was not up to safety standards and with a young family it was even more important for me to change the boiler. Since the boiler was swapped (September 2017) it is substantially more efficient and the basement room where it is stored is no longer sweltering hot. You will not go wrong if you choose Carmine. He is honest and will not up-sell you things you do not need. read more

This review is for both the Water Heater and new Boiler that Carmine installed for my moms 4 family home. This is my second review of Carmine. I found him to always be honest, courteous, thorough and professional. Primary Plumbing & Heating - Completed new boiler and hot water heater by Carmine. So neatly installed and easy to service. - Plumbing Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Carmine is the man you want for your gas boiler. My townhouse on Ave D is old and has a steam boiler for heating. According to Carmine, it was made in the 60s or 70s but has a good core. Even though it was a small job this time, I can definitely tell that he really knows his stuff. Before Carmine, I used another plumber who has 4.5 stars on yelp. While that fellow seems nice too, I don't think he has as much experience or is as focused as Carmine. You don't want your boiler serviced by someone who knows a little bit of everything. Carmine really KNOWS steam boilers. Bill read more

Carmine has arrived at my address exact at the scheduled time. I had the problem with radiators on all floors of my house. Some of them worked, some of them did not. Week before I had plumbers from City Build It Back program who replaced my boiler. They concluded that the valves on my radiators are broken and it may cost me $1000-$1500. Carmine explained me all possible reasons of my problem (besides the valves) and started to check the system from the "less expensive" options. He didn't just found and fixed the problem, but also he educated me how to do it on my own (!!!). The valves were not the problem at all! He charged me $240 for everything. He is the great and honest person. I highly recommend him. read more

Carmine is the best plumber I've ever had, and he is reasonably priced. Thank you Carmine!!!!!!

I chose Primary Plumbing because of his great reviews, well he now has another one. I called Mr. Carmine and he asked me questions and for pictures of my furnace. He came the next day and cheked out my furnace and the number of radiators I had.I decided after his analysis that I needed a new furnace. He explained what the work entailed and gave me a detailed contract of the cost for the whole job. He started work the Oct. 6th and finished on the 7th,2020. In a day and a half, he dismantled and removed my large old furnace, collected and installed my new one,and cleaned up everything by himself. He checked and made sure all radiators were heating and I was satisfied. He left saying if any problems please call him. I do have more work to do and I certainly will be calling Mr. Carmine. Carmine really is the best. And I say that as someone who only met him a few months ago and now plans to be a longtime customer. I first called him to service my old boiler due to his great reviews on Yelp. He is a true expert and such a nice person to boot. Since that first maintenance call, he has also installed an Ecobee thermostat and taught me how to use it, and replaced several components inside the boiler (thermocouple and pilot assembly). He is super thorough with his work, he knows boilers inside and out -- to the point of being able to distinguish between different issues by the sound coming from the boiler -- and he figured out different solutions and was great about discussing them with me to find the right one for our household. I would recommend him to anyone! read more

Finding someone to install a new boiler is an extremely stressful endeavor particularly when you are not familiar with the steps of the process . Researching and doing your due diligence to learn about boiler installation is admirable but when you find yourself in a house that's as cold inside as it is outside you want to find quick, proper answers ! That answer is Primary Plumbing and Heating! I needed the most capable plumber in the fastest amount of time and the internet reviews (every one of them positive) pointed me in the direction of THE BEST. I am speaking of Primary Plumbing's Master Plumber Carmine! This man came out right away to assess the situation, patiently walked me through the process, and gave me an immediate, honest and fair estimate. He is considered the Best for a reason, it's because he is a genuinely caring , dependable and skilled plumber who won't overstate a situation, he let's you know what you're facing and gives you all options up front ! There was a major storm (The Cyclone Bomb) coming and Carmine(who handles all of his jobs personally) arrived at the precise time that he said that he would and got straight to work on the installation. In a very short time my home went from feeling like frozen Antarctica to feeling like warm, sunny Bermuda! So, PLEASE Do not struggle with deciding who to use for your plumbing and heating needs, do what I did, call for the best, Primary Plumbing, you won't be disappointed! 1000 thank you's Carmine!!! I can't say enough good things about Carmine. My existing heating system had a catastrophic failure including a broken boiler and CO spillage. Within 5 days, I had the old system replaced and a new boiler installed and running. It was truly a team effort by the FDNY, the folks at National Grid, Wally Chimney and Boiler Cleaning, and Primary Plumbing and Heating that kept my family safe and now warm again. read more

I never actually got to try them. My boiler was leaking and I needed someone ASAP. When I called this place, someone picked up and said "hello" and I asked if this was "Primary Plumbing" and got hung up on. I called again and it went straight to voice mail saying "this is primary plumbing, blah blah blah, please leave a message." So I know I didn't call the wrong number. Perhaps they blocked my number? So I left a message. Never got a call back. My boiler was still leaking so I had to find someone else. Don't know what was up with that. read more

Carmine is the best guy out there. He replaced our boiler with a beautiful new model last year. Best price on the market. He was fast, friendly and honest. He follows up and offers specials to his existing clients. Also- this other company charged a big fee just to visit and look at the old boiler and gave a ridiculously high estimate. Carmine didnt charge any weird fees and he gave such a great price. As much as I want to keep him for myself, I recommend him highly. read more

Carmine was absolutely amazing, did a fantastic job at installing new steel radiators. We replaced our old very bulky cast iron radiators with some new slim steel radiators. Worked like a charm, I have an older house which makes doing anything a chore Carmine was patient and got the job done. Will use Primary again. read more

Met Carmine through a well-rated plumber here on Yelp. Basically we had issues with our new 2-family heating system that our plumber tried to fix -- but couldn't. Long story short, Carmine fix it. He knows his stuff, but is completely humble about it. After an initial review, he figured out what was needed, and a couple days later came back and got it done. One of the nice things (and there are many!) about dealing with Primary Plumbing and Heating, is that from your original phone call, to installation, repair or maintenance, you are working with Carmine, Master Plumber and Heating Expert. Other places will send "whomever" they have available "whenever" they want to. You don't want that situation for your precious home. Carmine will skillfully advise you, give you options, and as a master craftsman, do the repair or installation. He features the latest in heating systems and the picture gallery of his work on his website is amazing. He is also up to date with the modern Nest and Honeywell Wi-Fi remote thermostat systems to enhance your lifestyle. So glad that we found Carmine on this board. Our boiler wasn't firing and I wasn't thrilled with the annual service we received in the past from other providers. He arrived on time and got everything up and running and for a reasonable price. We'll be sure to use him in the future. Thank you, yelpers. read more

Whenever something's weird with our heating system I know I can call the best and the problem will be solved. Carmine's seen it all and whatever the issue, he can fix it and always seems to have the replacement part in his truck (I swear, that's a magic truck with every conceivable heating system replacement part in it). Carmine has also taught me about our system and how it works, and it's a good feeling to have a bit of knowledge about this stuff, so when he comes to work on it I can see that there is indeed a master at work. Thanks Carmine! read more

Carmine was a lifesaver. He came promptly when he said he would and looked at my heating issue. I had work done by a third party National Grid has a contract with and they came in the morning and they turned off my gas but when they were done they turned the gas back on but could not turn on my boiler. They said they it wasn't their responsibility even they tried several different ways to turn it back on. I called Carmine in a panic at 2pm as it was going to drop 20F overnight and with a newborn I was worried. He came promptly and as promised and fixed it in two seconds and also did extra maintenance/tune up. He is a really nice guy, honest and thorough. He also wont overcharged you for his work. Highly recommend him! read more

I highly recommend Carmine. He got back to me right away, worked me into his schedule and figured out and solved my boiler problem.

I did not have a service performed by Carmine because he doesnt service commercial properties however he did walk me through my boiler issue at 8:30pm over the phone and gave me peace of mind that kind people still exist! Thank you and when I have a home in Brooklyn I will definitely reach out to you! read more

Carmine is a true specialist in heating systems & we recommend him highly. He spotted and solved a problem that two other well known Brooklyn plumbers missed entirely! Carmine responded promptly to our call. He assessed the problem, explained to us clearly and fixed it for a reasonable price. He works efficiently and cleans up. He does NOT leave a mess (like other plumbers have in the past). Carmine is very personable and very clear about what he does and what he does not do. He made good suggestions and was very thorough. Also, he follows up. He called us a couple of days later to check that things were better. We love it that Carmine is a 21st century guy - he told us about wireless solutions (IoT) for part of our heating problem. Other plumbers we called in before finding Carmine did not even suggest a modern way to balance the heat in our old home. You can also contact Carmine if your water heater dies. read more

We had an excellent experience with Carmine in our 8-unit building. He expertly installed the wireless portion of our Honeywell thermostat -- something we'd had another company try to do but couldn't. He was able to come out for the job within a couple hours of my calling him -- and on a holiday -- and did the job in 35 minutes. So glad we have a solid HVAC person to call now! read more

I cannot say enough positive things about Carmine and the service he provided. I called regarding my 20+ year old boiler and each step of the way he was beyond professional. He shows up exactly when he says he would, completes the installation, makes sure it's running exactly as it should be, and leaves your home looking exactly the way it did - except now with a brand new shiny boiler. In addition, unlike other contractors, Carmine did not (and still has not) pestered me about writing a yelp review for him. read more

I can't say enough about Carmine. He is responsive, thorough, highly competent and a really nice guy. He squeezed me in on a Friday when my furnace was not working, did a fix but warned that he might need to come back if another part was not working properly. Sure enough, I contacted him late Saturday afternoon and he came at 8:30 on Sunday to replace the additional part. An old-fashioned, service-oriented guy. Highly recommended. read more

I can't recommend Carmine highly enough. He is extremely knowledgable, helpful, and responsive. When our boiler started acting up on an especially cold Saturday morning, he was at our door in just a few hours. He carefully diagnosed and fixed the issue, adjusted the settings to make the system more efficient and reliable... all while explaining to me how the whole system works. That night, he called to check in and ensure everything was still working properly. Carmine is a professional who goes above and beyond to make sure his customers are safe and warm. After having long and extensive renovations in our house with somewhat sloppy contractors, Carmine installed our boiler earlier in the winter. I have to say it was one of the best experiences I've had with a plumber/contractor. Professional, clean, quick and very knowledgable. Got several estimates and Carmine was definitely the most straight up and clear. Didn't try to sell extras. Wouldn't want anyone else handling my boiler. He even followed up a few weeks after the job, checked valves and helped with the boiler rebate. read more

Carmine from Primary Plumbing and Heating installed my boiler last year and i couldn't be more satisfied. He is prompt, professional, and his price came in lower than two other plumbers that i had gotten estimates from. He was upfront and honest about everything. He came when he said he would and finished the job on time. I highly recommend him. read more

When it comes to boilers, response time, and helping you out, Carmine is the best. My 25-year old boiler was suddenly not keeping sufficient water level, and requiring draining every night.
