Just went there for an exchange the hanger said the wrong sizes and I grabbed them not looking. I don't often go to downtown but the train was delayed so I did. After grabbing the wrong sizes and then my bag ripping in half losing my receipt I knew I would have issues. Well I went there without a receipt wanting the correct sizes and the cashier explained that I needed a receipt well I've worked retail for 18 years I knew that they may not give in well I was in luck they could look up my card and even when it was an issue because I paid Apple Pay they could still confirm the card and the purchase and was able to exchange the wrong size for one item the top was no longer available. If you are reading this and your in the car with your girlfriend/fiance/wife and she has talked you into this because there is a men's section with stuff you like, she has lied to you once again. You should immediately say your sick and tell her you think you forgot to record that HGTV show she likes so you should turn around. First, the product quality from a male perspective is minimal. You truly are getting what you are paying for. Most of this stuff would be on clearance at old navy but since it has a cool new name, its fashionable now. Secondly, Go to the bathroom before you come. There approximately 1 bathroom per gender. I would review the cleanliness but I never made it in due to the line never moving. If there is a line for the men's bathroom, something is wrong. Thirdly, if you are a guy and you skip leg day at the gym or share jeans with your girlfriend. This place is for you. But if you drink beer and like eating bacon, skip the men's section on the third floor. Fourthly, as soon as you walk in. There will be 500 women that look identical to your significant other from behind, so make sure you didn't follow an Asian lady to the third floor into the women's underwear and put your arm around her... I'm not saying it's what I did. But it's possible. In conclusion, unless your trying to go to the Pats game on your anniversary or trying to make up for hitting on the bartender last Saturday. Primark is opening its first US store in Boston in the old Filene's space that's been under renovation for ages. Thanks to a fashion blogger friend, Thoughtful Wish, and serendipitously running into each other at Downtown Crossing, she got me in as her plus one for their pre-opening party to check out the store, their wares and enjoy drinks and light snacks. While the drinks and light snacks are were party only, there were plenty of other features that will be welcomed with open arms in staid Boston. Primark is inexpensive fast fashion. I'll report back on how well the items I bought hold up, but between the feel of the garments and construction, I have to say I was impressed for the price point. Now, Primark is no H&M, style wise. While also European, Primark follow more closely UK styles, which are alright by me-- more options and plenty of affordable pieces that are trendy, in addition to the basics you can't live without. They also carry extended sizing, even in lingerie. Cheap (as in $9) bras from cup sizes D-F?? Pretty exciting if you're a busty gal. We never get cheap bras, even on clearance. I definitely saw US size 16 for ladies with plenty of stock in all fashion options. Almost everything has a numerical size, very little S/M/L which is pretty awesome. Mens, I checked on my boyfriend's size and there was plenty of 34x34 pants which are normally pretty hard for us to find. About the store: 4 levels of awesome. A great men's department, more women's than you could dream of, adorable children's, lingerie, shoes, tons of accessories, and even a small home goods department. There's free wifi available, along with charging stations for your phone. The men's department has a corner with seating, outlets, and a TV. So if you or your partner isn't a fan of shopping are are brought along, Primark is the place to hang out and recharge-- literally and figuratively. There's a lot going on in this store (4 whole floors of it!), so a breather isn't all that bad. In all, there's a ton of potential to this store, and it's the first of the UK staple in the USA. I think they made the right choice choosing Boston, because while we're not the best with change, we do love innovation, and take well to those we broke away from in colonial times. Clearly their gift of Primark unto us, cleaning and renovating and putting the beloved Filene's space to good use, is a no hard feelings about dumping tea in the harbor and declaring independence and whatnot. I'm not a snob about clothing brands or quality at all (if it looks good on you, then go for it!), but wow- the quality of the clothes sold at Primark is TERRIBLE! Everything looked like it would not last more than 1-2 cycles in the washing machine. The material of the shirts was flimsy and super thin. The majority of the clothing is solid-colored, so the appearance of the clothing doesn't even justify the purchase. Everything is very cheap, but why bother if you can get similar deals at H&M/online at Macy's anyway? The store's layout is huge and you end up constantly bumping into people. How could anyone rate Primark less than 5 stars? My friend and I had a couple of hours to kill before our flight back to SF and we walked into Primark opening weekend (in September) with no expectations. We bought as much as we could fit into our carry ons but it was hard to narrow down the options as I loved almost everything I tried on (which is a rare experience for me). Some people seem to think that the quality is not good but that is absolutely not the case. For the past 5 months, almost every single Primark shirt, sweater, or coat has been in the regularly rotation for both my friend and me. I've washed some shirts 15+ times and they are in the exact same condition as when I bought them. I can't believe how inexpensive the clothes are. My colleagues and high school students alike have been raving about Primark, so I decided to see for myself. 4 stars for the stuff - stylish purses for 9 bucks, slipper socks 3 for 3.50, lots of hosiery and staples. For 30 dollars I walked out with 8 pairs of tights, 3 pairs of socks, 3 pairs of underwear, and a purse. If I had the patience, I would have tried on some actual clothes, but there is a lot to look at and I was overwhelmed. 1 Star for the employees. I watched a young cashier throw a temper tantrum about a receipt that wouldn't print, and called her employee an 'asshole.' She came close to dropping an f-bomb as well. Also, I was there at 3PM on a Saturday and there were only two cashiers! There seemed to be a ton of employees there, but not sure what they were all doing. Great place to get cute, super cheap clothes, that are of questionable quality. Some things are better made than others... They have awesome kids clothes (insanely cheap) that are, generally, of better quality than the adult styles. You are crazy not to shop here if you have kids.. Summer options are definitely better than winter. The return policy is genius in that there is only 1 floor in which you can return and the line is usually outrageous so you will just keep whatever it is you meant to return and be stuck with it. Your best best would be to shop here off-hours as well as it can get really busy and the lines pretty crazy. read more

This is the first store where I've encountered employees precisely as dreary and disinterested as postal workers. Don't try to catch their eye -- they're avoiding your gaze. Don't hope for a friendly smile from the dressing room attendant -- they seem to be dosed on quaaludes and move as if immersed in honey. But if you get past those barriers and give them a question or request, at least they lethargically comply. Thank god the store is at least tidy and clean. A button fell off the denim shorts as I tried them on, so you should only buy clothes here that you're expecting to be disposable. Try everything on, since the sizes are inconsistent. read more

Shop till you drop in accessories and tops. Bargain prices for what clothes should actually cost of that quality. I was amazed by 4 floors of goods. Primark definitely markets to the everyday consumer with stylish clothing that isn't bizarre. From cute Disney goods to casual tops, although the lack of dresses disappointed me I came out with a pack of socks and a pair of cute memory foam slippers. Unfortunately, the memory foam slippers weren't sewn nicely so my toes get to feel every stitch made. (Check before you buy folks!) A lot of the dressier tops looked the same to me except maybe with a different collar style or jewelry attachment. I was glad the 4th floor had kids clothing AND home goods, or else it would have been an oops, let's take the escalator back down situation. Primark reminds me a bit of the colors and handbags of Charming Charlie, the casual Forever 21, but with the prices of the streets of China. Lots of walking space, brightly lit, and tax is already included in the price. read more

Took a trip into Boston to check out Primark thanks to several recommendations from friends. I'm usually a big Forever 21 shopper so price wise, I was really pleased. Primark's clothes are way less trampy to me than Forever 21, and the build seemed decent too. The store is huge, 4 gigantic levels housing everything from women's clothes, lingerie, shoes, to men's, kids, and even home stuff. I shopped to my hearts desire and ended up spending $113 roughly for two shirts, jeans, a button down, two purses, six bras, 9 pairs of panties, pajamas, and gloves. Wonderful in my opinion. The lingerie section was my personal favorite, it was affordable, and I loved how they sell bras and panties together in cute little sets from $6-12. Even better, everything fit me wonderfully. I'm talking as well as Victoria's Secret, if not better, and finding undergarments that fit me right is difficult. I was really happy that the $3.50 t shirt bras fit great too. The only thing that threw me off was sizing. EVERYTHING, including tops, leggings, coats, they're all in numerical sizes, like pants usually are. So you have to look around for tops and figure out what number you are. Little annoying and it's weird to hunt around for exactly the right size shirt when the store is packed, but I guess I'll learn. My only real complaints are that the woman who rang me up was clueless, she originally told me my total was $90 and then as she began bagging everything up (painfully slowly), realized she didn't scan in half the things I had placed on the counter. I didn't even have that many things, but alright. Then all of the sudden my total jumped up 30 more dollars. And be prepared - their paper bags SUCK. You grab one the wrong way and it'll rip entirely. Really thin and cheap, don't plan on walking far with them. I had three bags and all of them ripped some way by the end of the day. The key to shopping here is knowing exactly what to buy and what not to buy. There are items I have purchased from here when they first opened and I'm still wearing them now and they're in great condition. There are other items that I wouldn't even consider buying. There are also items that are priced so high on their end I could actually go to my more favored high end stores for the piece. Their selection of jeans have definitely improved since the beginning. I'm a thicker woman so I have to be careful about those cheap stretch jeans they sell. My thighs will literally destroy them within one wear. However, they now have higher quality jeans that I buy and are fine. I have a large chest and this is the only place I go to for bras now. The only thing that sucks is majority of their bras for larger chested women have wiring and I'm over wired bras. The only wireless bras they had in my size were sports bras. Customer service side, I know from the inside that the workers do not like their job and it does come from the way the job works and upper management. Upper management is rude and actually complains and whines when their retail assistants come to them for assistance. They claim they don't but trust me they do. A supervisor even cried when he was approached with a customer inquiry. Therefore, I'm sure you can imagine how a worker feels when they're trying to help the customer but when they go to their boss to make that happen they get nothing but attitude. Secondly, primark has no back stock please stop asking the assistants if they can check your size because there's nothing back there for what you're seeking. Thirdly, don't ask a retail assistant where to find a specific piece of clothing that you either saw last week or see on a picture hanging somewhere in primark. Everything changes so quickly there's no way to guarantee or locate what you asking. Take a look around for yourself and if you see it great but if you don't it's not there. Lastly, don't ask a retail assistant about the operations of something on a different floor. Retail assistants literally only work on their floor, it's a whole different world on each floor and primark trains their assistants only for their floor. Working on a different floor the assistant has to be trained for that floors culture, it doesn't make sense but that's how it is. Therefore, they cannot help you unless they somehow used to work on that floor. Thus, they'll only tell you to go down there and ask someone there. It seems rude and I know it doesn't make sense but in the world of primark, asking someone on the first floor to help with something on the second floor is like going to CVS and asking them to help you with something at Wendy's, they can't help you unless they miraculously used to work at Wendy's. In summary, if you go in here with a good eye for quality, avoiding cheaply made or overly expensive products, and actually learn to just shop for yourself and stop depending on the assistants to be your personal shoppers you should be just fine. Wouldnt let me try on jacket in fitting room. I spent all this time picking out work clothes to go with this jacket and they refused to let me try it on. How am I suppose to know what it looks like with my outfit. So I put everything back. Manager told me coldly its not allowed in the fitting room, I have to stand there and put it on. That is ridiculous. He would not explain why. It isn't store policy nor is it even ever a thing at a clothing department. He could have said it was corporate or new store policy. Nope. His rules. Came here a few times and always left with things in my hand. The biggest incentive to shop at Primark is it's cheap prices. Too bad everything here also "feels" cheap. Primark sadly isn't going to be my go to place to burn money. The clothes are too poorly made, and the crowd drives me nuts. My suggestion would be to stick to items you don't necessarily care to show off, like sleepwear, exercise wear, and random home knickknacks. I went to Primark for the first time. Wow, what a experience it was. I must have spent at least 2 hours here. For $82.50, I walked away with, 2 shirts, tights, 2 pairs of rain boots, underwear, a bra, a lot of socks, 2 pairs of leg-warmers, leggings, and a hair turban. This was my 1st time going inside a Primark. I have never been on their online store either. I first heard of Primark from an English YouTuber I watched called MakeupJunkieG. She is a little person and I was curious what types of clothes they offered here since she normally fits in kids clothes but wears a lot of very trendy outfits. They have womens, mens and kids clothes as well as house items. I found the first floor to be the least interesting of the 4 floors (I actually never made it to the 4th floor). This store is massive. Their clothes are extremely inexpensive. They sell shoes, luggages, rugs, towels, wedding stuff, underwear, suits, luggage tags, lights, fake plants and so much more. I ended up only getting pants & a button-up shirt for the fiance. It was $15 for the pants & $10 for the shirt (original price, not marked down). I was incredibly surprised by the variety of shorts/pants in the men's section. Their shopping carts are interesting shaped. They're tall, long and plastic and on wheels. Their luggages were really cute looking. They had ones with dogs on it as well as a floral one. Their shoe selection is ginormous for both men and women. For men's dress shirts, they have models that are folded that you cant unfold. To try one on, you go to the dressing room where they have stock ones that you can test for fit. Then you just go and purchase one of the nicely folded/packaged ones. read more

Pros: - Well organized and LOTS of customer service people to help you out. - Lots of mirrors everywhere on the floors, so you can try coats/jackets on the floor itself. H&M, please take note. - Cashier lines are very organized. Even though there were maybe 15 people in front of me, I only had to wait in line for 5 minutes or so. H&M - you have a LOT to learn from this place. - Found clothes of the same style as H&M, but much cheaper. For example a Faux Leather Moto Jacket was only $16 here, compared to $49.99 at H&M. - Lots and lots of clothes on each floor with styles that fit everyone. I found a nice sweater for my dad, a cardigan for mom and somethings for me. I also found affordable cute baby clothes for a coworker's baby shower. The women's options are really extensive and they even have a floor for kids. The quality is about the same as h&m with similar styles. Primark is great. I can't comment on the quality of their shoes, but their clothes are decent and at the price point, you can't really beat it. I joke sometimes and say that thanks to Primark I can look like a presentable human at work without breaking the bank. I workout a lot (Crossfit/endurance 5-6x a week and throw in distance runs as well). I was able to get three workout tank tops, two sport bras, and a couple other things for around $21.00. Boom (sound of your mind being blown). The location is right in the Downtown Crossing area and can get pretty crowded, but there are usually tons of staff at the registers so it doesn't take too long to check out. The one thing that can take a while is trying on clothes. Every time I've been, the dressing rooms have had insane lines. So, might be worth buying/returning depending on your time constraints. read more

I came to the Boston Primark with no expectations and left with 2 pairs of pants and a packet of socks for $21. I wear the pants frequently. (Black jeans/jeggings- part of my work uniform.) I am surprised how much I like the items I bought. I took off a star for having to wade through a lot of awful looking stuff to get to the gems. I was really excited about this place because for one, wow, something is finally going into the former Filene's location (Filene's RIP) and, two, it's actually a place that will sell cheap, trendy clothing and not like a bank or some other lame thing. I drooled over the cool signs outside all summer expecting the awesomeness that would soon grace the location. Sadly, I was kind of disappointed. First, there were the massive crowds. I was getting panicky just trying to look at stuff. Secondly, the stuff just was not that cool. I like the selection of stuff at Forever 21 and H&M so much more. This stuff seemed kind of dark and depressing (maybe that's the new look for fall?!). Very few bright colors and all the accessories looked as cheap as they are. The home section was also disappointing compared to the advertising posters I saw over the summer. It looked like cheap dorm crap like from Urban, but cheaper and crappier. There were only a few things here that remotely intrigued me. 1.) Southwestern style skirt in black and white (not some ugly ass dark colors) 2.) super cheap travel size bottles like 4 or 5 of them for $1.50 3.) tights for only like $2-4 in fishnet and other cool styles. 4.) fun Halloween socks I'll definitely be back here to check things out again but my initial impression was not strong. I had just visited Primark for the first time in Scotland this summer, so I was stoked to hear it was opening here in Boston. This Primark is actually wayyyy nicer than the one in Edinburgh, with lots more money going into the displays and interior design. I'm a grad student aka have negative money. I know fast fashion isn't good quality, but it's cheap and fashionable and that's why I love it. They have fleece tights, packs of socks, etc etc etc etc for $4 My advice: bring cash. It's too easy to spend wayyyy too much when everything costs $10. My favorite sections are their accessories, jackets (really warm and good quality for $30--can't beat that, and of course the home goods section just crushes it. Such cute decor items at dirt cheap prices. Fast fashion is here. Four floors of it in the old Filene's building in Downtown Boston. Opening day seemed pretty hectic and there were lots of people still shopping at 8pm, an hour before closing. I think with its prime location and cheap price tags, Primark is going to be a staple for tourists and locals in the area. They have a huge selection of sophisticated clothes (blazers for $18 anyone?), fun and cute workout/lounge clothes, rows of accessories and handbags, and a small cosmetics section, and an equally small home decorations section. It's like a marriage of H&M and Forever21, plus some TJMaxx thrown in there. The lines at checkout were not particularly long, though I only went to the first floor counters. They had a lot of staff members working on opening day and my experience was positive. The cashier who rang me up had a great smile so that's always a good thing to see. I ended up hauling a wool hat ($10), earrings ($3.50), a blouse ($15) and socks ($3.50 for 5 pairs). I don't expect these to last very long given the prices--you get what you pay for--but this is why they call it fast fashion. read more

I am always interested in how varied reviews can be for one place... especially when it is a new business. I have actually been really pleased with Primark so far! Clearly I am not alone as 75% plus of the people walking around downtown crossing are carrying Primark bags. I am excited it is open and really love the store. It is beautiful, clean, well laid-out, and FULL of merchandise. I mean, FULL of anything and everything you would need. From hosiery/lingerie to luggage, to blankets to candles to exercise apparel to jewelry.. I could go on. It's really amazing. And all very cheap. The quality is similar to Forever 21, with some real finds in the mix (the blanket I got for like $15 is the softest I have ever found and the running tights I found fit incredibly well.. for $10!!) :-) I have also found all of the employees to be welcoming and kind. It does help to smile at them, too! I find people don't smile as much as they should in this city.. so friendliness goes both ways. I worked in retail for many years and always appreciated a friendly customer! I also had to return an item because it didn't end up fitting me well and the lady helping me could not have been nicer. All in all, if you haven't checked it out already, go see for yourself. It has never been overly crowded when I went and I have gone on both weekend days and weekdays. It looks like things have improved somewhat since my last review. I've seen some of the British management having meetings with the floor staff to make sure displays and events were being tackled as a team. There were more cashiers this time and the POS systems seemed to be working better. Maybe if they paid more, all of the employees might be nicer. Make sure you review your order before you pay!! I purchased 2 items at the first floor registers; one marked $6 and the other marked $3.50. My total came to $12. While still at the register but after I put my card in, I ask the cashier how it equals $12.50. He says your right but you have to go up to the 4th floor for a refund. After I had to wait in a ridiculous line in the first place, I go up to the 4th damn floor and see the long line for the refunds. I haven't been Downtown for a min. but I was there today walking by & discovered this Massive store & now I realize they have a home section? i'll have to check it next time, anyway this store is cool BUT the REAL lowdown is this: 1. CHEAPER PRICES = NOT SO LASTING CLOTHES/ CHEAP MATERIAL why do you think it's cheap? 2. It doesn't make ANY sense to keep Forever 21 anymore I'm most of you know this place has Alot of what H&M & Forever 21 has like DUHHHHHH and just for the record I have a feeling Forever 21 will be DISMISSED FOREVERRRRRRR!. 3. return policy is better then Forever 21 So will see how good this store will be. As an American tourist traveling in England, I was thrilled when I came upon Primark in London in 2018. Huge selection of clothing for women, men, kids...not to mention makeup, accessories and housewares at ridiculously low prices. I had never seen anything like it in the US! Upon arriving home to California, I was disappointed to find out the only Primarks are on the East Coast. So on a family vacation to Boston this summer, my daughter and I carved out time to shop at Primark. While the store is 4 stories tall it doesn't have the same amount of selection as the stores in London or Manchester. The houseware department is especially tiny consisting of only a few racks whereas in England, houseware takes an entire floor. The prices are not as low as England either. However I do believe they are lower than Forever 21 or Old Navy. There were several items that I purchased that were great deals: $12 boots, $8 pajamas, $3 t-shirts and tank tops, $9 sandals. My 11-year-old daughter found $5 bathing suits, $4 shorts. Good deals can be found if you take your time. We went twice during our three day stay in Boston. Here's hoping they will open a Primark (or two or three) in California! read more
