Soodee sells extremely marked-up versions of clothing from Aliexpress (see pictures). Notably, when looking at the lemon dress currently on display outside Soodee ($328), a Google Image search shows that you can find the same dress on Aliexpress for a fifth of the price ($73). Reverse image searching also shows the original dress, which was sold at Neiman Marcus for 1.9k. It's unlikely that Soodee is able to buy these dresses from Neiman Marcus (or their supplier, or the original designer) and sell them at a steep discount. Even if Soodee were able to, it's extremely suspicious that the dress does not have its original tags -- why is the designer not credited? Other stores, such as Anthropologie and Neiman Marcus, regularly carry designs from out-of-house designers; however, you can consistently identify the designer from the tags and branding, rather than having them replaced with a generic store-brand tag. If you're able to afford the original, I'd encourage supporting original designers' work. If you're not, you should save considerable amounts of money by reverse image searching Soodee's clothes and ordering directly from Aliexpress yourself. There's no reason to pay for the 5x (or more!) markup for a store to physically order it for you, especially when the store provides no transparency on the source of their clothes. read more

The owner Diane claimed that they do not carry fur but refused to announce a fur-free policy or provide solid proof that they no longer sell fur. I'm all about honesty and transparency so that's a huge red flag to me. read more

I was shocked to see this store still uses animals in their clothing line. I called to ask why and they hung up in my face. Very rude.

The owner claims to not sell fur yet i can still see the remnants of it on their instagram store! And has since said it wasnt real fur at all on the article of clothing. Then why charge nearly $500 for something that is allegedly faux fur with a mink fur labeling?? I see from the other reviews that diane is known to lie to customers. I was in Boston on business with my wife accompanying and we stopped in to the Soodee in the Beacon Hill area. We found a beautiful dress for her and I saw another that I thought would look beautiful but she wouldn't let me buy it for her. I contacted Soodee and arranged to have the dress sent in the correct size to my home in Virginia. It looks gorgeous, superb quality, and the service was impeccable! My wife was ecstatic! Overpriced, overrated, knockoffs from other brands. Came in to try on blazer dress on, the girl was on the phone chatting and could care less about me (only customer in the store on a Saturday)! Asked for sizing, she did not even know where the size tag was. Buttons barely attached for $358! Gross stay away! read more

Be sure to evaluate the clothes you purchase before leaving the store. I brought my purchase home to Seattle and was waiting for the right occasion to wear it. I put it on and noticed a tiny tear which I did not notice in the store. Because it was beyond their 7 day return policy they said there was nothing they could do, not even an exchange. This is one of my "SSO" stores. "Shop Sales Only". Regular priced items are far too expensive for me (and not worth it in my opinion). I strolled in here this week to check out a few items. I was lured in by the lovely dresses on the forms cleverly place outside the storefront. The sale rack had a lot of very cute items, mostly dresses. My size varies because I'm pear-shaped. I'm a 6/8 up top and a 10/12 on the bottom (Baby got back!). The good thing about most of the dresses was that they weren't overly structured. They were mostly A-lined and flow-y, so there was room for my caboose :-) I tried on a few dresses, some of which fit well, others that didn't. I wasn't particularly amazed by any of the items, so I ended up leaving the store empty handed. However, I will still visit this store from time to time to rummage through the sale rack. One thing I wasn't particularly fond of was the store owner (??) eagerness to sell me something. I hate that kind of pressure when I'm shopping. It's so annoying. I know what I want and what I like, I don't need you shoving your "opinion" down my throat. I get it... you want to make a sale, but don't tell me something fits me well, when it clearly does not and is cutting off blood circulation to my arm. I mean, come on! read more

Not only has she selected great quality clothing at fair prices, she personally helps you select your best look. I had a chance to return to one of my favorite shops. It again exceeded my expectations. Diane, the owner, always has the cutest fashions. Many are classic cuts but have a wonderful pop of color or special detail that makes you stand out. I always get so many compliments when I wear these fashions. This time Jessica helped me. She was such fun to work with. She picked out several dresses that I first glanced over. I didn't think they were for me, but she encouraged me to try. Wow, she was right. I ended up getting a knit dress in pink and baby blue that had a great pocket detail on the top. I also left with a skirt and sweater. I wanted to wear the sweater later that day so Jessica steamed and bagged for me. They always take such good care of me. I look forward to returning in the springtime for more fun and fashion. read more

Eh maybe I don't get it. Or maybe I went on a day where they were between choice picks. The window display drew me in with the promise of cute, unique clothes. The racks offered some darling dresses - most of which seemed to be BCBG. What? I thought this was a boutique. The other unfortunate part was that most dresses seemed to be a size 2. To fit into such garments, I would have to remove a rib or two and have my hip bones shaved down. The prices are a bit high, but pretty moderate considering the street and the offerings. Too bad for them (and phenomenal for me) I had just gotten myself a serious score at BCBG itself. I felt at least a little uncomfortable the entire time I was in there. The store was small and the attendant was sitting either on the phone or watching us the entire time. And no music meant deafening silence. A quick spin round the store. A quick question. And then I was gone. I may be back occasionally to see if there are any great finds, but this won't become a regular spot. read more

I have so many problems with this place. The set up, the fact that my bathroom is larger than the entire store. The employees are less than helpful. No energy, no excitement. "Hi, how are you" and then right back to fiddling with a mannequin or straightening a rack. OR i get stared down everytime I touch an item. I may make Carrie Bradshaw money. but I CAN afford to shop! The racks are very disorganized, and disorganization in such a small place is just too much for me. I'm just not a fan. Everytime I walk past, i go in with a "maybe something gorgeous will jump out at me" mentality. and everytime i leave with "wow that was utterly pointless" mindframe. If your on Newbury Street and you have time to kill before meeting a friend for lunch. Go ahead and spend a good 5-10minutes in here. If not, stay away, you'll probably just leave dissappointed. read more

Tiny boutique featuring beautifully proportioned, Romantic-esque clothes. The style reminded me of Korean fashion (vintage-romantic, organic feel with lots of gunmetal greys and forest greens). The sales rack costs about the same as the sales rack at a FCUK or BCBG but features much more unique picks like a cinched metallic forest green trenchcoat with shirred 3/4 bell sleeves. The subdued cut, proportions, and colors here seem to work particularly well with Asian frames and complexions. read more

Staff were fighting about the last customer and what they wanted when I walked in to browse and see if the dresses were as nice as other places on the street and was sorely disappointed to find that the fabric was not nice to the touch and the price of everything I looked at was over $200.00 read more

I absolutely loved the clothes in this shop but really found it a bizarre experience. A lovely but young girl was working there and, probably trying to be helpful, let me know that my size 10-12, 5'8 ass probably wouldn't wouldn't fit because the "large" I was looking at was probably only a size 6 in reality. She offered me "much bigger sizes" if I need them. My two friends burst out laughing and I think I just stared at her. Anyway I did really well and bought a ton of stuff. The owner was there, seemed nice and complimented me on my choices - she was actually wearing the same jacket I was buying, plus a necklace, 2 pairs of earrings .... And a ring. About $500 before tax. About 20 minutes later I was browsing in a different boutique 2 blocks away, when the young girl barges in. Do you mind coming with me, she said. Uh sure? I said and followed her out of the store. Turns out the owner didn't think I paid for the ring and sent the girl out to find me. I didn't really react at first and agreed to go back to the shop but I was wild when I got there. The owner was all apologetic but I just said you're lucky I'm feeling nice -- How embarrassing to be chased down the street like I was a shoplifter!! So embarrassing! The ring maybe cost $50. I was extremely disappointed by my shopping experience here. After seeing a dress advertised on a mannequin at the storefront, I walked in to ask to try it on. I was told that they only had one XS size, the one on the mannequin, but that the salesperson would get it for me. As I was looking around the store, I overheard another person ask about the same dress, which I had asked about already. However, I was under the impression that the salesperson was already getting it off the mannequin for me as promised. I then went into the fitting room to try on other items. When I went out to ask about the dress after waiting several minutes, I found they had given it to the later person to try on while I was waiting, agreed to sell it, and didn't even give me a chance to see if it would fit. I made it clear I specifically came into the store for that dress. The staff here wasted my time and were very unprofessional. This is not a good way to do business and I do not plan to shop here again. read more

Staff was extremely rude.....I stopped in to look at a dress for a wedding, tried it on, liked it but it was a bit short. When I came out of the fitting room with it on the hanger the two women working asked if I was taking it, when I said no they scoffed back with " that's because this is a 2, you're not a 2 you're a 4" when first of all, they didn't even see me in the dress and secondly the dress fit me just fine. Soodee attracted me by displaying a couple of dresses outside the store. They have some get fashions and the store has many solid pieces. Most of the brands are from Korea, but they do a lot of BCBG pieces. The prices are around $100-200 which I think is slightly pricey since it isn't necessarily designer. I do like the fact that the pieces have a lot of feminine qualities, but again the price is steep for me. read more

I got really upset the other day when I recommended soodee to my friend and she told the story of how people were reviewing soodee on yelp. While I was scrolling down the review that other bad reviews that people wrote, I feel so offended by them. Where is the yelp guideline for racial discrimination? Because what I saw in soodee they definitely have high quality dress with a reasonable price. I don't see how you can compare a dress shop with a low end stores and I don't understand why people still has the misconception of things made in China are "garbage", when they have not even been to China. It's 2019 people, wake up! Your favorite high end french designer Balenciaga have their items made in China and you pay thousands dollars for them, you considers them cheap and garbage as well? Anyway, back to the store, I always go to Jessica who helped me find what I need. She is always very nice and lovely and she always advises me her honest opinion, and that's what I need. And once I have my dress with a broken zipper and I ask them if they would replace the dress, they actually took it to the tailor and replace the zipper for me. I recently stopped into Soodee Boutique on Newbury Street. I live in the metro-west area and don't often go into Boston to shop. I generally find the customer service not quite as friendly. I was pleasantly surprised how nice the employees were. The owner Diane was very helpful and gave me an honest opinion of how the dresses looked on me. Well, I like the place. It's nice and it has BEAUTIFUL DRESSES!!! If somebody said that it's little expensive. I think it worth! if you said that its expensive, and you said you can aford it, why don't you just go to SAX OR MACCY's to get some GUCCI stuff instead of going into a little place that you find out that its smaller than your bathroom. If you want some cheaper things and some nice stuff. God will help you, really! Your little princess don't complain about it, it's your choice to go in the store. I was okay with shopping at this store until I needed to return the dress that I purchased over a week ago. At that time, the owner of the store told me that I could return it if I wanted to. However, today she told me their policy was store credit only. There is nothing else in the store that I want to buy, as I think the clothes are cheaply made and over-priced. She is not concerned with honesty and providing good customer service. She was giving me the "hard sell" when I was in her store last week and she never disclosed her "store credit" policy. When I asked her today where it was posted she said on the checkout counter. I looked everywhere and it was hidden behind a bunch of jewelery. I asked her again for a full refund and she said she couldn't do it because she's had so many customers who damaged her clothes and worn them, then tried to return them. The dress I bought still had the tag on it, and it clearly had never been worn, as it was still wrapped in the paper. This is a shady way to run a business and I do not recommend shopping there. The owner doesn't really care about the customer, she only cares about how much money she make off of them. read more

I was recommend by a few female friends to SooDee to shop for a dress as a birthday present for my girlfriend. Being a guy, I usually feel very awkward shopping in a women's boutique, but the staff was so friendly and helpful. As best as I could, I explained my girlfriend's size and taste in clothes, she is very picky and likes nice things. She really likes having tha latest fashions. They showed a few and even tried on a few so that I could see what they look like... They chose out an outfit which she really loves! I live in NYC. On my way to a wedding in Cape Cod two weeks ago, my husband and I took a tour in Boston and walked on Newberry St., I wasn't planning to buy any clothes until we walked into Soodee. There were so many beautiful dresses hanging on the racks. Then my husband asked me to try one dress. I put it on and came out of the dressing room. He stunned. Then I put another one on, I looked at the mirror, I looked much better than the dress that I brought with me for the wedding. I couldn't leave the store without buying them. They were gorgeous! If I am going back to Boston, I will definitely going back to Soodee. They have beautiful clothes with great quality! read more

I was looking for a dress to wear and stopped at Soodee because of the dresses outside and an ad fro 15% off. I went in the store and looked for a while, tried many dresses and finally found only one that would fit. Most of the dresses are made for tiny women and are sized from 2 to 6, a 6 being a large in the owner's mind. I took the dress home, and the day of the wedding, I put it on and it was so big, my bra was showing and I could not wear it. The cut of the dress was different than any other dress in the store, like it did not fit the other styles, a leftover???? I went back to the store a couple of days later to return it and try to find something else as the return policy is to purchase something in the same store. Again, it was very difficult to find anything, mind I am a size 8 only, hard to believe that a store would not carry anything larger than a 6. I left the store with a store credit in the hope that sometime later I could return and by something. I went back today and same problem, no dresses bigger than a 6. The mistake of the first dress size was made by the store and I would not have had to return it if it fit correctIy. The dress I found was more than the credit and was still tight but I had no other choice. It had a defect but I figured I could take it to a seamstress to take out and fix, but the owner wanted to charge 60 more dollars than the credit for it. I tried to talk to her to honor the credit price but she refused and was very nasty about it. I am planning on taking her to court because she would not accomodate me and I left the store with nothing and I will not be able to ever buy anything there. read more

VERY DISAPPOINTING CUSTOMER SERVICE. I bought a dress in May that the owner, Diane, assured me could be altered. The lining didn't lay flat and I had great reservations about purchasing it, but she gave me such a knowing response that I believed her and bought it. After taking it to two accomplished tailors, who both told me that they could not alter the the lining because I'd never be able to sit down afterward, I tried to the return the dress for store credit. I was told I could not - that the acceptable time limit had passed. I'm now stuck with a dress that I'll never wear. Lesson learned. Diane only wanted the sale. She could careless about her customers. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS STORE TO ANYONE. read more

After a LONGGGGGGGG and grueling winter I had to get some shopping in and what better place in Boston than Newbs. I've got my go to places for shopping but I always stopped in from time to time at Soodee for a great selection of fashion forward designs.This place always seems to amaze me with staying ahead of the curve and treads. With that said their selections also have timeless appeal with quality in mind. This has always been a refreshing thing to see when shopping here. But this time it was more so than the last times I've have visited. It could be that I was going a bit stir crazy from the longggggg winter and was happy to be out and about.... Or it could be that after walking into the store it sported a whole new refreshed look, must have done some construction over winter. None the less it felt vibrant and alive. From the lighting, EXTREMELY helpful staff and of-course an awesome spring line up. This was the reemergence I needed to find after this unforgiving winter. Thank you Soodee for being so great and breathing new life it to this gal. Keep up the great work and you'll be seeing me a lot. read more

After finishing a grueling work deadline I went walking down Newbury St on a lovely summer early evening and took a chance and went into this store for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised by the wide choice of styles, and with the help of the very nice bubbly young woman who scouted out the small sizes for me I ended up rewarding myself by buying 4 dresses for over $500, and left the store feeling absolutely wonderful. When I went home I realized that one of the dresses that was a sale item was missing the belt. So next day I went back to the store. Unfortunately the previous assistant was not there and instead I had to deal with a passive aggressive one who after telling me that the actual belt was lost and not available, then insisted that I pay extra for another (unmatching) one that she brought out of the back that had no price tag whatsoever on it for a random number of $18 that she obviously made up on the spot. Despite my telling her that I had spent a substantial amount of money in the store the previous night and that the belt price was just made up, she refused to back down . Although I pointed out to her that this was not good business practice and that she needed to do the right thing, she refused to accommodate me in any way; she was only interested in power play, and not the business of cultivating a customer base. So bottom line: whether or not the styles are good becomes irrelevant when the overall shopping experience is unpleasant. There are many other women's dress stores on Newbury St. and I won't be dropping my money in there again....From reading some of the other reviews customer relations appears to be a chronic problem... read more
