Before I get into this, I want to say that in the end, everyone looked fine, and no one really noticed any issues (since then, we have in photos) That said, I was looking for quality tuxedos for my wedding--for myself and my groomsmen--and I didn't want to go the mail-order box route. After searching around the city, my fiancée and I came across Cuffs & Collars. We had a brief meeting with one of the two brothers who run the shop, and afterward, we decided to go with them. The plan was simple: I'd collect the measurements from my groomsmen, who were scattered around the country, and the shop would handle the sizing, claiming the tuxedos were "custom from Italy." While technically rentals, I was told the tuxes were new, could be tailored to fit each guy, and Italian-made--exactly what they advertise. This is where things started to go downhill. Communication was difficult from the start, and out of everything involved in planning the wedding, the tuxedos turned out to be the most stressful part. I paid for half of them upfront. When I went to pick them up a while later, the jackets were correct--but the pants were completely wrong. They looked like basic suit pants, not the formal tuxedo style we had discussed. I immediately asked for them to be swapped out, as the wedding was getting close and I needed to ship everything to the groomsmen so they could tailor them as needed. Eventually, I received the "new" pants--only to realize they were the same pants with the strip of satin added. Worse, they were absurdly long--clearly designed for someone who is in the NBA. This required significant alterations. A few of the tuxedos were completely mismatched. Instead of using the measurements I provided, the shop had simply matched jacket sizes to corresponding pants sizes--ignoring the fact that everyone's build is different. When we asked for replacements due to these errors, we were charged full price again, despite the fact that the mistakes were theirs. It was during one of these exchanges that I discovered the tuxedos weren't made in Italy at all--they were made in China. I felt misled. I was sold on high-quality, Italian-made tuxedos, and that's not what we received. Ultimately, we made it work. The tailor we used did an ok job with what he had, and my wife said I looked great. But if you're considering using this shop, I'd strongly recommend double-checking exactly what you're getting--especially if you're being promised something "custom" or "Italian." read more

A small store with a bunch of very high quality suits. You get what you pay for and there are options all up the price ladder. The store is a multi-generational business with Antoine running the store. He does a great job fitting and choosing the proper suit. It is almost easy to miss as it is inside a large building, but don't miss it if you need a suit! On short notice I needed a suit as well as tailoring to make sure it fit properly. On Memorial Day I got it fitted, ordered, and tailoring will be done shortly. If you are in the market for a high end suit, I would certainly recommend Cuffs & Collars/Antoine Rubini. read more

We had a wonderful experience with Antoine at Cuffs&Collars. We are wedding suit shopping for our wedding, and my partner and I really don't know much about suits! Antoine was super helpful, instantly found the right size suit for my partner, and had bunches of choices based on her preferences. His suits are lovely, with excellent quality fabrics. There is the option to custom make a suit based on management, but luckily my partner fit right into a suit off the rack! We were so impressed with Antoine's attention (he spent two uninterrupted areas with us!). He even walked with us outside 5 minutes to the tailor he recommends, and spoke to the tailor about what alterations would be needed. For anyone who is looking for men's suits, shirts & ties, cufflinks, etc, I'd highly recommend working with Antoine at Cuffs and Collars in Boston, MA. Days before the pandemic set in, I chose to work with Antoine to find the right tuxedo for my wedding because of his exceptional knowledge and service early on. Together, we found the right tux and shirt design, planned a date for the groomsmen meetup for measurements at the Cuffs and Collars lounge area, and ultimately were going to use that fitting session to order final sizes for everyone. It was a perfect plan until the pandemic hit with the cascading shutdowns setting in shortly after. The service and flexibility I received following this unfortunately situation is a BIG reason why I wanted to write this unsolicited recommendation. Once the lockdown restrictions eased, I worked with Antoine on finding the correct tuxedo and shirt sizes based on the height, weight, and existing sizes from other suits for each groomsman, so we could have them shipped in as early as possible - well before the wedding date in order to account for tailoring and sizing discrepancies. Antoine got the sizes EXACTLY right based on the detail we provided and not meeting them in person, which made a huge difference planning around the complicated, stressful pandemic uncertainties impacting our wedding. In addition to this recommendation, I wanted to say thank you again to Cuffs and Collars family. My fiancé and I faced an incredible amount of stress trying to continuously plan (and replan) our wedding around the pandemic. Well, I stand corrected and an updated Yelp review is necessary. I thought the staff at C&C had simply forgotten that I was interested in a certain pair of cufflinks and life went on. Out of the blue, I received an email from C&C stating that the cufflinks arrived and if I still wanted them. Yes and yes! She set them aside for me and Hubs and I made our way over later in the week to exchange them. Simply put, they went above and beyond what they had to do. Based on these reviews, my husband and I were expecting more of an experience, something that would make him say "yes, custom-made is the way to go!" I don't know if the fact that he had a LivingSocial coupon made the staff less invested in him, but they didn't go out of their way to encourage repeat business from him either. They didn't even take his measurements! That really surprised me. The suit's okay and maybe regular customers get the level of attention that other Yelpers are describing. We're both pretty low-maintenance shoppers, but I was surprised at how quickly my husband was in and out of there. He gets more attention at Men's Wearhouse. I see that Cuffs & Collars is now running a BostonDeal promotion, but they've got to up their game and provide more of this "boutique experience" if they want people to come back. read more

I concur with Thomas' review, this place is as close to shopping on the Rialto in Venice as you can get in Boston. People who whine about the price of a handstitched shirt or tie should probably stick with Mens Wearhouse or K&G Fashion Superstore (both of which I like, by the way, but for different reasons). We only get to Venice about once a year, so this place is a good way to satisfy those dark urges in between visits. The service is personal and attentive without being cloying and the owner is knowledgeable and passionate about the artistry of men's clothing. This rare mens boutique is far above and beyond any mens clothing store in Boston. The Location is in the bustling downtown area on water St. The ficade of the store screams class, there are two gorgeous stain glass windows that are unique and inviting. The store it's self is much better of course it has great dress shirts, ties, blazers, top coats available for the money. It's very European in it design and product which I prefer especially if you want to look good. If you have a special event to attend too and need to look good, Cuffs and Collars is the place. They have a great selection of all of the above. I make a trip for a pair of links and an Armani tie every Christmas for my husband. My (now) husband wanted a new suit for our elopement, and after a very unsuccessful trip to Macy's and Nordstroms, we landed in C&C. The woman working was extremely helpful, spending extra time to ensure we were happy with the color of the suit, the cut of the suit, and she was so patient while we chose the shirt and bow-tie. She took all of his measurements and promised a fast turnaround (essential as we were getting married in less than one week!). The next day, the owner even called to have my husband come back in to ensure the fit was perfect. The suit was ready in plenty of time, and the entire ensemble was an incredibly reasonable price. Cuffs & Collars is absolutely amazing!!! I came here to surprise my boyfriend for his birthday - we came for their suit promotion. They were professional: kind, aware of our needs, patient (they took their time to really help us and answer our questions). The quality of their materials is incredible. We were able to get the suit (jacket & pant) and shirt tailored perfectly - included in the deal! They have to send the materials out to their tailor, so it takes about two weeks for it to return, but! the final product was absolute perfection. It is pricey, but it is definitely worth the investment. I figure a few great quality items is better than a closet full of cheap things that don't fit perfectly and are falling apart.. This elegant shop in the financial district is a really refreshing change from a lot of the chain-type shops you can find in the downtown area. As I am apparently missing some kind of woman gene, I generally find shopping to be pretty intimidating, but I actually look forward to shopping here when I need something for my boyfriend or dad-the shop is inviting, and the staff is helpful and knowledgeable without being intrusive. I have always had great service and good luck wandering in to Cuffs and Collars. I just recently bought a sweater (Boston was colder than I was expecting on a business trip) that is unusual, handsome, and warm. Have enjoyed the tie selection. Lots of bespoke labels. I really want to emphasize the service: they worked with me on sizes, look, etc. Invariably, when I wander in, it is ten minutes to closing, but I am always treated like a member of the British royal family. This is a shout out to an amazing clothier and a throw-back to a time when dozens of these shops would exist in a city like Boston. So glad that Cuffs and Collars is going strong. First, the positive. The clothes seem nice. Now, the negative. The clothes are overpriced. The salesman we had was very pushy (that could be a positive in others' books, but it wasn't for us). But what really did it for us was how scammy the transaction felt at the end. We had a Groupon for $205, with no fine print saying anything about sales excluded (the only exclusion was on-line orders). The boutique is set up like a European (Spanish/Italian feeling) clothing store, with a few items on display, but most stock lining the walls with seemingly negotiable prices on each item (also very European). When we asked the price of two shirts we were interested in (that he had not tried on, but perhaps could have if we had been more aggressive about it), we were told that there was a 20% discount. But, at the register, when the salesman discovered we had a Groupon, he told us that no sales applied. He said this even though the Groupon fine print said nothing of the sort and it really felt like we could have negotiated the price of the clothing down much more. We told him that our expectation was that, short of their advertising otherwise, our expectation was that the Groupon should be treated like cash. He mumbled some sort of empty excuse, and then said he'd knock $20 off the price. But the discount he had originally given us would have been almost $60. Basically, we walked away feeling like we got a terrible deal on the clothes and regretting having spent so much money. If money is no object, sure, go there. Or, if you have the energy and time to negotiate for an hour before making a purchase, that might work for you, too. Otherwise you might be better off going somewhere else. read more

Ordered a suit on September 8th and they said it'd be completed within 2 weeks. I told them I had to leave the country on October 17th..."no problem." No phone call after 3 weeks (September 29th), so I called them. I was given an excuse that the suit was back ordered, but that my October 17th deadline would be no problem. Today is October 13th and I haven't even gone for a fitting. I haven't received one phone call from them either. I'm canceling the order through my credit card company. Any guy out there that wears a suit everyday and appreciates quality knows that a good haberdasher is extremely hard to find. You have your chain outlets that provide decent enough products, but they don't provide the discerning man what he truly is looking for. I found my spot this weekend and thought it my duty to share this with the masses. Simply put,,,I was given the attention in Cuffs & Collars that made me want to come back for all my future purchases. Antoine Rubini made my experience pleasurable and efficient. These two words don't usually end up in the same sentence when speaking about retailer, but they do now. I was able to add a suit to the stable that I didn't already own. Also, the shirts, cuff links and ties were all of the highest quality. The worst!!! I came in on a Saturday afternoon. That may have been my first mistake. The sole person in the store was a (hispanic?) woman with limited english skills. I asked to find out about their custom suits, and she took me to the ready to wear rack. First of all, that is not what I wanted. Second, the selection in my size was quite limited to around 5 suits and there was no indication that there might be more in the back or which could be made on order. I asked her three times to help me with custom suits. Each time she directed me to the same, limited, selection on the rack. Now, I could be wrong that they offer custom suits, but the answer is not to direct me to ready to wear suits three times!!! I think that the problem may have been that they did not staff the store with their first line sales staff since it was late on a Saturday afternoon. So take your pick: Wrong staff, leaving me to be serviced by someone who clearly did not have a command of the english language or, worse, they just have a lousy staff and have no custom suits to offer or don't have the language capabilities to handle any customers. read more

Since changing careers and body size at 36, I've had a helluva time finding suits cut for tall, athletic men. I found Cuffs and Collars while looking for someone to help teach me how to tie a bow-tie, and I now have a place to buy quality, well-cut, Italian suits which fit the man I am. Simply put, American (Jos. A. Banks and Brooks Brothers) designers don't make suits made for men who are in shape. With only the tailoring required to hem my pants, I was able to walk out with a suit of better style and quality than anything I've encountered at the aforementioned shops around the corner.
