This place is probably the greatest thing in the history of the Reno. I loved so many of the games here!! They're all so well maintained, clean, etc. Drink holders at every game (so perfect), hand sanitizers everywhere. Drinks were good too, and unlimited soda refills (though my first bartender failed to tell me this). Most games are 25¢ or 50¢, and there's a coin machine and buckets for your coins. I hate carrying around a bucket of coins, so hopefully they implement some kind of card system in the future (like Round 1 and the hotel arcades do). But I'm really not complaining! My new favorite place to grab a drink! If you love pinball and oldschool video games, and the ever more popular mid-town vibe, then this is your spot! It is a smallish, super laid back spot that draws an equally laid back crowd. They have tons of old school pinball machines and games, most of which are pretty inexpensive to play. $20 will last you most of the night game wise. The owner is great, the bartenders are great, the vibe is great. The games are great. Christian could have a very successful career as a Howie Mendel celebrity look-alike, but he chooses to work at Press Start. A great place to go for a night out with your buddies, especially if you used to play arcade games in your childhood! Definitely brings back memories with games like Street Fighter II, X-Men, Defender and many others. They also have a pool table, air hockey table and a vast selection of pinball machines. I wish I had something bad to say to keep the masses away and keep this my secret hidden fun house, but in all fairness... Growing up in the 70's and 80's I watched the evolution of game technology. Galaga (pronounced guh-laa-guh ;-) only in my tiny circle), Centipede, Pac- Man, Dig Dug, pin ball (the origin of arcade) and they keep, maintain, and share the love here in all forms of old school video games. Here you can peruse those and more and literally see and play the decades so to speak, from those I already mentioned, through Tetris and Area 51, and beyond with side by side Mario Kart and other late model arcade variations. Not your jam? How about air hockey? Kicking it up a notch, they are also 21 and over, offering a full service bar. Good beers on tap and in the bottle, some ciders, and cocktails to boot. A great destination where you can escape not only your kids, but everyone else's as well, while reliving your own glory days (with a cocktail). Rounding out the hit parade there's no smoking, the staff is friendly, smiling, and understand the string of profanity directed at that stupid spider coming out of nowhere killing your last man as you hover ever closer, but not close enough to the high score. I know there are a couple of other arcades in town offering original arcade gaming, but this is just more personal, small, convenient, and a cool fun edition to mid-town. I'd even key them up an additional half star, as food, a larger selection of games, and a more expansive bar might hit the ticket, but they're doing a pretty great job just like they are. Headed to Press Start for the first time for a Yelp event in December and had a BLAST! My boyfriend and I enjoyed playing and beating The Simpsons game (a childhood dream of my boyfriend's). One of the bartenders even came over and played with us; it was awesome! We had friends visiting from Texas a week ago and were looking for something fun to do so we headed right on over to Press Start. I love this place so much that I don't want to write this review because I want Press Start to stay the perfect little gem that it already is. However, I Iove Press Start so much that I want it to succeed and flourish, and if you're in Reno, you should probably know about its awesomeness. Press Start is Reno's first barcade, offering a ton of coin-operated (Woot!) classic arcade games including various pinball machines and Big Buck Hunter! I first fell in love with Press Start when I came across their website, designed in 8-bit glory! The games rotate every few months, and it looks like they're going to expand into the suite next door, which will give them much-needed room to grow! I was fortunate enough to be here on a weeknight, but I can only imagine how popular it must be on the weekends... This is a great place for first dates, gathering with friends, or a fun couple's night out/double date. Beer is affordable and plentiful, but cocktails are a little pricey. Not so sure about wine, but this isn't really a wine kinda place. They don't have food, but you can order in! The owner and bartenders here are super nice and down-to-earth, no hipster snob vibe here. I also appreciate that most games are truly only a quarter (pinball, air hockey, & Big Buck are more). Walking around with my bucket of quarters and a grin on my face, I couldn't help but think how Press Start is a non-smoking Gen X/Millennial Dotty's...So much win for one rad little LOCAL barcade! You'd be surprised how good you still are at Tempest, and if you don't think about all the quarters you dropped into that damn machine when you were younger, you'll really dig playing it again. I couldn't believe it when my date said she wanted to check this place out. I grew up in the heart of the arcade era so I really wanted to love this place. An evening with a woman who wanted to play pinball. I didn't think anything could go wrong with the evening. I was wrong. Things did not start off well. Parking was dismally in short supply. When we walked to the door, three guys were smoking marijuana less than 20 feet from the door. I get NV has legalized weed, but back in my day my friends at least did it in the back alley or hot boxed in cars. The place was packed. People were happy. Beers in hand for most people. There were arcade cabinets everywhere. The change machine was immediately in sight. The juke box was blaring some 80s music...except it was concert deafening. We got our change and started working our way down the games...Rampage, Tempest, TMNT...the old classics were there for only a quarter. Then we hit the pinball games...$1 per game. That's ridiculous. It was a quarter back in the day. I remember when some went to 50 cents in the 90s but at least the gave you three credits for a buck as an incentive. They had three for $2 on some games but not all. The Star Wars pinball was particularly greedy because the ball launch dropped the ball into a gutter or bounced off a target and went right down the center. My date dropped one ball plus the ball save in less than 10 seconds. Also the music was particularly deafening on the pinball side. I couldn't even hear the games which is saying something. I only had one encounter with the staff. My date wanted some water. Yes...water at a bar but she wanted it so I pushed my way through the crowd. The bartenders were laughing it up with patrons. When I made my request, the bartender I got actually started laughing at me and called it out to his coworkers and everyone else. He quickly poured a red cup. I get he makes his money on tips. Even being a jerk I was going to offer him a tip for the trouble. I had no change so I broke out a $20 and asked. His response was "You want change now???" They had some nice seating areas. My date and I tried to have a conversation but we had to move our heads with inches of each other to hear each other. It worked out for me because I stole a kiss. We decided to leave shortly after. I was glad to be outside to give my ears a break. The good...Old style arcade experience with the benefit of alcohol. The actual drink menu seemed interesting. The bad...The bartender was an absolute jerk. Pinball was too pricey. The volume is ear damaging loud. They also need to police their patrons a bit. You want to smoke out? Great...do it in that massive alley behind the building. I may check this place out again on a week night to play some of the games. My run in with the staff makes it unlikely I will give them money at the bar. The sad part is most of my gripes are fixable with a minimal amount of effort, but the staff seemed focused on socializing with each other rather than keeping customers happy. read more

Old-school arcade cabinets, 80s and 90s music pumping out of the stereo, great people, AND BOOZE! This place IS an arcade taken right out of the late 80s and brought back to glorious life in 2017! Most of the cabinets still only cost .25 cents to play and the drinks are expertly crafted as well as reasonably priced. No food on site but they are surrounded by awesome food to grab prior to coming in so that isn't an issue. Please patronize this wonderful, local, and awesome establishment! This place has such a cool concept: old school arcade games and alcohol. How could you go wrong?! I really like that I am able to go to an arcade made exclusively for adults. There is a sense of nostalgia visiting a place like this. It really brings me back to the simple days of my childhood with joysticks and push buttons. The simple layout of this place is also what makes it so appealing. It seems like a dive bar at first glance from the street, but as you enter the place, you are surrounded by the familiar sounds of Rampage, Frogger, and games like Pac Man and Galaga. One thing that I learned is that as bad as I was at Frogger in childhood, as an adult, I am still terrible. I mean just straight awful and as hard as I try, I just can't get that dang frog to the other side, but I encourage those who have never been here to visit and try your hand at that Frogger game. Who knows, you may discover that you are indeed the Frogger master. If you're looking for a place to blow off steam after a stressful day or want to enjoy a night out with friends at a chill and entertaining atmosphere while enjoying a beer or two, this is the place for you. The newest gaming place in the best location in Reno, Midtown. One word BARCADE! It is so much fun to relive your childhood. They have a great selection of old-school games. Yes, hell freaking yes. This place rocks my freaking socks or onsie as the case may be. All the games take quarters or tokens. Tokens? Yup, you can get them from the bartender. I happened to order some Qbert-esque drink and it came with 8 tokens! The drink was Orange Deep Eddy (vodka) mixed with an orange beer and damn if it wasn't super refreshing and tasty. AND it came with tokens, all that for $10. I'll take it! The bartenders were cool AF and hella funny. The place was crowded but not in an annoying way, more in an everyone is having fun and they understand why you just stepped on their toes kind of way. The games were totally what I was hoping for: Dig Dug, Centipeded, Rampage, Mortal Kombat, The Simpsons, etc. My only compaint was the lack of Street Fighter...but I'm sure they are working on it...right? They recently changed the layout and I love it! You can see across the entire place which is helpful when you're trying to decide on when to grab that next drink. I've been here on numerous occasions and try to play different games each time. The air hockey table is a classic, even if the power is turned down quite low and the new asian music beat game was super fun once we figured it out. They've got a change machine and ATM at the front and the bartenders are quick to help you out if you need more coins due to a machine eating them up. Speaking of bartenders, they're really on point here with making suggestions, some of which will come with coins as a nice bonus. Visiting Reno from LA so my brothers and I decided to look for some barcades and this "gem" came up. The reviews were great for the most part so we decided to have it be our pregame spot before a concert. Wish I could show how quickly I lost my excitement as soon as it was our turn to order drinks. The employee was serving a couple and they were all smiles and laughs, but the second we were up his demeanor completely changed. We noticed but chose to shrug it off cause we had just walked in that place. Ordered a stella but it tasted..different and then followed up with a tequila shot and it tasted watered down. I'm aware some bars do that in order to have their "top shelf" last but this was the most noticeable one. The crowd was mixed, older couples out on a date night and groups of young adults. Press Start is a bar with a mix of classic and HD arcade games on the floor. Had a great time here and will definitely be coming back. Only complaint is the air hockey table had really bad air flow making it difficult to play. However, this bar is a great place to take a date.
