The service at the bar was awful. I'm visiting from Chile with my boyfriend and we got the worst service ever. We got Id'd twice. The second time, the guy with long, ponytail-like hair, bad breath and really rude temperament attended us. Me and my boyfriend felt really offended when he asked us for both of our ids, but ONLY to us. This was perhaps caused because this place IS NOT an LGBT friendly at all. Even less than that. This nerdy looking guy argued about no seeing us after we were 20 minutes there; we played with the disc that hovers, some game that resembled bowling, pool and a couple of other arcade and when it wasn't really busy... When I ask him why? he tells me that he just got started 10 minutes ago... If he doesn't check who is in his workplace before he enters to work, or maybe right away, that must be his problem. It's his job to check on who has already entered, not us. I've seen many stupid people like that in my life I wasn't up dealing with that. After he had an argument with my boyfriend, and me feeling VERY ANXIOUS, we played some games and TWO of them were broken and we didn't even get the money back. The other lady at the bar never helped us. If you ever have a problem there, don't bother yourself on asking for help, cause only lazy-ass, unrespectful, self-centered, poor service people with bad hygiene works there. read more

Ok, allow me to admit that I've never played a game here. But let me tell you girls, when you're out on the town with your girlfriends, I never thought I'd say this about an arcade, but THIS is the best bar for a girl to go to in Boulder! *Complete sausage fest? Yes, please! *$2 domestics and $3 U Call Its at Happy Hour? Even better! *The fact you didn't kick my drunk ass friends out for tearing up your dance floor a little more than you probably wanted to tolerate (re: climbing on a speaker and accidentally flashing their underpants), and instead you told one of them to "like" you on Facebook when she picked up her wallet that she drunkenly left behind the night before? Priceless! You've sealed the deal for me, Press Play! read more

This bar is great considering the night life in Boulder has been nearly eradicated by Mr. Tebo (the property owner of most of Pearl Street). The bartenders are great and do the best they can when they're busy. On the weekends however, when the floor opens up for dancing, the DJ tends to not know how to tune into the crowd and I often find the heavy techno beat and dubstep music harder to vibe with. If they mixed up the music and gave us something worth dancing to, the party would be epic. read more

Be careful about going to this place. The employees are very rude and talked to me like I was an idiot when their machine ate my money. Read the other reviews. Their reputation is deplorable. read more

Place and every employee sucks. I didn't like one single thing. Ping pong tables are home made and junk

I was really excited to find this place the other day, I like the look and atmosphere of the place and the bartenders were cool. But, and this is a big BUT, over half of the games I played the other evening were not working properly. DONKEY KONG Jump button was broken. MS. PAC-MAN Joystick did not work properly ( I believe was an 8 way instead of a 4 way and broken one at that) THE GETAWAY pinball machine ball got stuck several times and top flipper was underpowered and useless. This place could be great if they maintained their games. I was very disappointed. Go to 1up in Denver read more

Room for Improvement Press Play is like the knock off brand of 1Up. 1Up (and 2 Up) got it right. Press Play needs work. Ive been there 3 times now and each time there were games that dont work. When we visited on Saturday night, 2 games didnt work (and there arent that many to start with). One of the games just shut down in the middle of our game which blows. When we told the bartender he ddint even offer us quarters. and he was kind of a dick about it. Lame. 1Up has a full time guy to repair the games and keep them calibrated properly. I wanted to love Press Play, I just dont. read more

arcade games + music + alcohol. Happy to have something closer than One Up in Denver like this.

Bartender was incredible at the end of the night we were finishing up a game that we payed for and the bouncers came back and screamed at us to get out. My wife and our friends were so shocked at the way they treated us. We will never go back again! read more

Fucking garbage place!! I was accused of doing drugs in the bathroom by some piece of shit bouncer. I was not even in the stall. I splashed water on my face and that was it. Still ended up getting kicked out even after I emptied my pockets. I was literally shocked because I was accused and he couldn't even give a explanation of why he thought I was doing drugs in the bath room. read more

I thought I liked this place when I came here for the first place. But now I hate this place out of no reason my friend and I was walked out, for no reason. I loved boulder and the night life out here. But today is the first time I felt places like press and play have a very subtle racism out here. I wish they fix this problem. read more

Plenty of retro arcade games to choose from. Various places to order drinks. Nice dance floor and a pinball area. Staff seem nice enough and wear uniforms (which we don't see often enough). Out of the two dollars I spent on video games .50 was eaten by them, not sure if someone walks around checking on this but I wish they would, several machines are broken. We will be going back. read more

Great prices for air hockey, pinball, and 4 player paceman. They also have skee ball, you know, that game where you roll the ball up a ramp and in lands in the holes which count for different points. read more

I love this Bar it's my favorite on Pearl, with good music, pool tables, ping pong tables and arcade games this place is amazing. It's reminiscent of one up in Denver. read more

Really cool bar. Lots of cool video games. Great drinks. Friendly staff. Had a great time

Spectacular Sunday place to hang. The bartender with the green hair was the best! Great mix of beer and games.

This place is fun on a bun! I went there last weekend with my best gal pal, and we had a fantastic time. There's a little something for everyone at Press Play, games, pool, and dancing (that's what I was there for). The staff was great and a lot fun. The thing I liked most was that there were people there of all ages, and it wasn't filled with just a bunch of college students. Can't wait to go back. My only complaint, the Lemon Drop shots need work. Overall though, it was a kick ass time! read more

Place is awesome - can't imagine another trip to Boulder without Press Play & and Avery Brew Co!!! I give this place 10 thumbs up. Great staff and great atmosphere. 4 way pac man is stupid fun!! read more

Very fun place.....old style arcade games and reasonably priced adult beverages what more could you ask for?

One of our favorites in Boulder for dancing, playing games, or just hanging out with friends. Late at night, the creeper factor can get pretty high, but it's a creative take on the dive bar with good, reasonably priced drinks, and plenty of things to do, making it a great place for friends with different interests or motives for going. read more

Fun place to go with your friends or on a date, lots of things to do. Everyone's favorite games were all there. The drinks seemed a bit inconsistent (one weak and the next too strong) but it worked out. read more

Big fan of Press Play. It's a really nice departure from the traditional bars that only present you with the option to stand around and talk. The video games really tap into my personal nostalga, and the venue is still one of the few places that features live DJs on weekend. Wonderful change of pace from the rest of the cookie cutter watering spots.... read more

We went there on Friday and danced and hung out with friends. It was nice to have the option to play arcade games. I forgot my purse there and they put it in their office. I'm grateful they caught that mistake of mine so quickly. We will be going back there. read more

This place is tons of fun. You should go!! 4 person pac-man, 2 big jenga sets, all the best arcade games, and a dance floor. All you need is a few fabulous friends and some drinks and nothing but amazing awesome fun will result. read more

Perfect place for a group of active drinkers. Sometimes I find myself here solely for the giant jenga sets. The most appealing aspect of this bar is that it provides numerous ways to have engage with your friends. Whether dancing on the floor, playing retro video games/jenga/pinball/pool, or taking shots at the bar; you can definitely have some of the most unforgettable nights [that you can hardly remember] at Press Play. They also have some bartenders who own it like a boss read more

I may have just had a bad experience, but I would not go back. My friends and I came here to go dancing. I asked the DJ's bodyguard? if he took requests (is this not allowed anymore or something?) and he told me I could ask the DJ if I wanted to tell him how to do his job. The DJ wasn't that good so we decided to move on. We were gathering at the bar which is next to the entrance/exit when an employee of the bar approached me and a friend asking if we wanted to take shots that someone had ordered and abandoned. We said sure, then he changed his mind and told us we were too drunk to take them (which we were definitely "toasty" but not hammered by any means). We said that was fine and we didn't need them. Then he said he didn't want to be the "bad guy" and offered them to us again. So my friend and I discussed it for a second because the guy's behavior was weird and we were a little thrown off. The employee then said "forget it" and had the bartender throw the shots out. The whole experience just felt off. Definitely will not return. I think the best bars are still the good ol' bars such as The Pub and Catacombs. Maybe not quite as hip, but the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is always welcoming. read more

Best bar in Boulder has a large variety of games to play. Mostly like going here on the weekends but there's no cover. They have one of fave beers, nitro IPA. read more

Bar staff is extremely nice. Large selection of arcade games. Pool tables. On busy nights you may wait awhile for drinks so order when you can. You may want to double up when you order. This is a college bar so take that into account on days you go. This says nothing on the bar or staff but keep your drinks with you. On to many occasions Iv been with people who have had things slipped into their drinks. Again this is a college bar. Only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because of experiences with clientele and drink wait time. read more

I give it three stars because the place really needs to work on cleanliness. Outside of that its a cool concept with fun old games, skee ball. If I were the owners I'd put a little bit into keeping the paint fresh every few years and try to build a bomb-proof bathroom that doesn't get easily trashed by village drunks. read more

My experience tonight at press play was amazing Sarah the bartender was phenomenal she is in my opinion the definition of what a good bartender should be she was able to use her knowledge to provide me with an excellent drink given a basic ingredient she was absolutely stunning, gorgeous, and very personable I couldn't have asked for a better experience and I recommend this bar as well as this bartender to anyone who is looking for a good time in Boulder Colorado read more

Scummy, smells weird, generally gross. If you're at least a 7/10 on the drunk scale then it's tolerable for a few minutes if you're interested in losing some hearing. Any less drunk than that, or any care in the world for not going deaf by age 40, not recommended. Also, they charge $5 for a PBR. read more

This is in response to Jo C's review. They do not have to let your animal in. You have an emotional support animal, which is not a service animal. Your animal is a pet with privileges in housing and airports. That's the only place they have legal rights. Actual service animals are trained for a specific task and are well behaved. I've met your animal and it's a terrible little dog who needs to be trained. The fact that they refused to let in your PET makes me respect them more, since they are actually following the law. I don't want pets around my food when I am paying for a restaurant experience. read more

Out of many, and I mean many bars/clubs I have been to, Press Play definitely ranks up as one of my favorites! The staff, lighting, sound, DJs, ambiance; everything is great! Dancing, Drinking, Games, good times!! Highly recommend it! read more

Press Play in Boulder is by far one of the best places to drink in Boulder. Thanks to the friendly staff, well priced drinks and great service. Press Play offers a friendly environment of fun and enjoyment. Press Play... move forward. read more

I freakin loved this place!!!!! The drinks were great. Though I have no idea how much the drinks are, they were bought for me. There's lot of games to play: giant Jenga, pin ball, ski ball, arcade games and pool tables. I think the games were 50-75 cents. We ended up playing giant jenga for a while. Then the music started pumping and I had a blast on the dance floor!! Nice, super friendly people too. Which is great, since I was on vacation alone. read more

Absolutely terrible. My friend went to buy me a drink while I was standing at the bar. Since I didn't order I was accused of being drunk and offered water. This was my second drink of the night and as soon as my friend handed me the drink I was grabbed around the neck and escorted out. Unless this is your first stop of the night, do not go here. .. read more

Took a group of friends here for one of their bachelors parties. I was the Designated Driver. The manager came over, grabbed me, removed me from my group and told me I was "too drunk" and would be getting 86'd as soon as a bouncer could make their way over. I tried to tell them the situation, and that I was dead sober, but the guy just said he's "been doing this for years and knows what drunk looks like" (why was he even bothering to engage with a "drunk person"?) My group was not loud or rowdy, and we were buying enough drinks and arcade games to justify our stay there. Wound up removing myself before the bouncer could make it over. Wound up waiting for my group to close their tab and we moved on, and true to DD duty, completed the night without having a single drink. The staff running this bar are a bunch of jackasses; if the owner knew what their staff was doing, I hope they would make some changes. Given that ou're not hurting for choice of places to drink in Boulder, go anywhere else. Don't just take my word for it, look at all the other crap reviews related to their staff. read more

awesome to have arcade games a good bar and a nightclub on weekends all wrapped into one. There was this one guy starting causing problems (was being fed drinks and bumping into others) the staff took him out of the bar quickly, his friends didn't seem to agree with what my friends, staff ,and I saw. good time plan on going there more. read more

Showed up with 11 of my other team mates for our team dinner as a part of our annual company meetup. We all wanted to go to an arcade bar. We show up to an empty bar and they were very unwelcoming and rude. They asked for IDs, not a big deal, but our international members did not have passports on them. Again, not usually a big deal, but they were extremely rude about the situation, so instead of quickly running back to the hotel to grab them, we took our business elsewhere. Disappointing experience. Would not recommend. read more

Were in for a few minutes during Halloween. Although there was a child leaving w/ a mother the male bartender walked over asking a young adult w/us for I.D. We thought you could be over 18 but enter just not able to order drinks. The only male staff member who walked out from behind the bar could not have been more rude in asking for I.D.As we made way to leave & say our good-byes The male staff member literally starred at us with a mean glare! Ever heard of being nice? I'm way over 18- & I will never chose to go here when the bartender was so rude & chauvinistic. He didn't approach any males in our group in such a hostile manner. Also, there was a sign at the top of the staircase leading to the entrance below that read "Munchkins Welcome"...well! apparently only small children not a young adult are welcome. Thanks for the unwelcome feeling you gave us! read more
