The other reviews mention the bathroom attendant, she was really kind to me, unfortunately she doesn't take Apple Pay/Venmo, just cash but I know that's part of the experience. Make sure to dress up, dance and have fun, I'm grateful for the amazing music, the beautiful beats. All of the workers were welcoming and even gave some great advice. The instructors are knowledgeable and more than patient with beginners and the drinks aren't badly priced. The only thing I might change is having bathroom attendants... What timing! My friend happened to bring me here while a HUGE Latin dance event in Aurora was going on, so it was practically empty at La Rumba. We had no idea until we finished the fantastic group bachata lesson. The social dance technically started but no one showed up. It felt awkward, so we sat around for a little and enjoyed well drinks from the bar, then headed home. La Rumba is by far the best Latin dance club in the Denver metro area. It's not a bar it's a club with excellent drinks. This is a great place for a date night or just to hang out with friends and listen to music. If you go listen to the live music you'll never be disappointed with the talent they bring in. We went here for a salsa class on a Thursday night and can say we weren't disappointed. For complete beginners and professional teachers we were able to grasp the hang of a small salsa dance. A lot of fun even though we were very sceptical at first on what to expect. I recommend for anyone thinking of giving it a go. Go with a partner or friends and I'm sure you'll have a blast. It has been announced that they will begin opening as a club next week. I never went to the club nights pre covid so am unable to comment on that. She was annoyed every time anyone came in and the most unpleasant to anyone who asked her about anything about the things she offered to everyone. incredibly unpleasant experience due to this. Really ruined the experience to have someone who was so rude for no reason at all and was so to everyone who came in. I've been to several clubs before, and never have I had this kind of experience so I would highly recommend the club switch this person out. I've had amazing experience where I've had attendants help me out with stuck zippers or making my night with kind compliments, but this attendant was incredibly rude to me and my friend who wasn't feeling her best this night. A little bit of kindness goes a long way for girls out for a night, and this really gave us a bad vibe that hasn't been present in any other club in Denver. Came here for a salsa dance lesson with my girlfriends and had the best time! The instructor was great and broke everything down slowly so that everyone could understand, making us feel very comfortable. I really saw all levels in the class from beginner to advanced so don't feel nervous if you're just looking to try something new. I was an unfortunate duck with two left feet, for as long as I remember. Then I had a friend who blessed me with a dream to dance!I've heard about La Rumba for years, but I never had the cajones to actually show up and get your groove on! I also had a goal to get over dance anxiety, embrace anxiety and Salsa/ Bachata dance lessons were my ticket to shine!! Street parking and a cover fee at $15.00 for 1 hour dance lesson, a dress code requirement and an entry to dance the entire night! The people are alive and very friendly and super comfortable being okay with two left feet. These dance lessons have some wonderful dance instructors and they make the two left feet in me want to come out and find my rhythm. La Rumba is 21+ with a full bar with dance floor. The restrooms and dance hall are super clean-- they have a VIP dancing area! The lights, the music make me escape from the every day 9-5 day job! I love the fun, the rebellious dance lessons and sexy swaying in all of us! The best part is being yourself. This isn't like Dancing With The Stars!! Everyone is here to learn, from all different ages, backgrounds of dancing, no dancing at all-- you name it! Everyone is here with a purpose. The goal is to keep coming! Don't give up! read more

Would it recommend! I've been to serval clubs as part of promoter deals. Would recommend going to vinyl or church in Denver instead of la rumba. The biggest reason is the bathroom attendant. She was so unpleasant when trying to use the bathroom. Never in my life have I had a bad experience just because I needed to pee. She was being rude to several other girls in there, but no one wanted to interact and complain as everyone just wants to have a good time instead. This place would be 100x better to have someone kind! I would never tip this woman who was being rude to people trying to simply use the bathroom. It blew my mind to have such a bad experience. Plenty of clubs around that have more room, Latin music, and bathrooms that don't have rude attendants. I would be interested in going back if they switched out this employee with literally anyone else that has basic human empathy and decency. This woman was simply not meant to work in customer service I've never seen anyone so angry to interact with people on a Friday night. Please help me contact the management to drive some change. Community pressure can help! I would really like to be a regular here since I love dancing and the music. BUT, they refuse to give out free tap water and instead offer water bottles at $3. I think this is really dangerous for a number of reasons: -If water costs money, people will drink less. Dehydration is dangerous...especially with the amount of dancing and sweating. -Since people have to pay money for a beverage anyway, they may opt for more alcohol instead. People might get much more drunk and potentially drive dangerously or become sick -Small water bottles being the only option for hydration means that soooo much plastic is being wasted every night. That can't be good for the environment. After dancing continuously, you need at least three of those small bottles. Why can't tap water be given away for free? I find it really morally wrong that a place that serves alcohol and teaches dancing (physical activity) will not provide free tap water or allow patrons to being their own water. It seems that all they care about is the boost in profit from water bottle sales. In fact, you can't even go to the bathroom without someone asking you for more money. There is an attendant inside who expects to be tipped when she gives you a paper towel. But I would happily ignore that if only I could get some water. My first time here and I loved the vibe of this club. Staff and customers were all very nice. I loved seeing everyone dance with everyone and the dance floor is huge. I didn't see any guys being creepy to the women, so the ladies didnt have to be overly on guard and rude to anyone. Honestly it was as if everyone knew each other. My only complaint is more my own issue and not the club. I was expecting more of a Latin top 40 and this music was very traditional classic Salsa. Full disclosure, I don't know how to Salsa but I love dancing to Latin music. I know, what did I expect going to a Salsa club. Just went to the bachata lvl one class last night with some friends of mine. Super excited and also a bit nervous to do something out of my comfort zone. Mind you, I'm gay and I came with my partner and another African American friend of mine. I guess if your looking for instructors and an environment thats free from judgement, racism, and homophobia...that's not the place to go. If your looking for a place that's going to encourage having fun and making the dance your own, keep looking. I felt entirely targeted for laughing, catching onto the steps quick and then trying to have fun with my partner by adding a bit of flair, and having a mind of my own. I really liked this place. I came here to dance salsa and had a good time. I like the fact that they have a dress code because I do not want to dance with a man who has on a baseball cap, sweats and/ flip flops. The entire vibe was nice. I chatted with some nice people. Met Latin folks from the Caribbean as well which is always fun! The entry fee isn't too bad. The location is convenient. Last time I was here there were people from all races and ethnicities dancing the night away. I really enjoyed myself. You can arrive early and learn the basics to dancing. It's been a while since I've danced salsa and bachata but I was able to pick up the pace very quickly once the beat dropped. It must have been obvious because some smooth salsa mambo man took my hand and told my boyfriend, "here, let me know show you how it is done." And so, I flopped around like a fool, trying not to lead and learn how to do these hip dances that I wanted to do so naturally. La Rumba is a young crowd, with regulars, and regulars who think they own the floor. You come here to dance, and you get danced off the dance floor by those trying to show off to anybody that will watch. But it is fun to watch their sexy steps and seductive eyes... The black and white checkered floor makes you feel like you should break out your tap shoes, but at least you are still in the same realm as dancing. We stopped by on a Friday, Latin night, and the DJ had some good tunes but not as diverse of a mix as I expected. I came ready to connect with tejana roots & dance some cumbias, but they were few and far between. It was very heavy on the old school Latin music, which I like, but would have loved some newer hits too. Definitely felt like an older crowd too (like late 30s-early 50s). The mojitos had a bit too much sugar for my taste but still tasty. Hubs has a cover of $10 but still not feeling like it was "worth" it...spending 3 yrs in San Anto where even the decent clubs don't charge cover & have AC really changes your perspective. Good location. A block or two from Broadway. Parking hasn't been an issue the times I've gone. The dance classes have been okay. The dance floor is a good size, but it seems that the later into the night it gets, the harder it is to actually dance. With that said, definitely go in earlier if you want to get a good dance in. This review is for the dance lessons: During the intro class it was very apparent that the male instructor has been giving these classes for too long and is way past burnout. He was short with students, mumbling his commands and wasn't picking up that most of the class was failing to grasp what to do on the crossover turn. For all other step he did explain, how and where to step but for the crossover turn he didn't, this was a point of confusion for both men and women and his response was to snap at the students. I paid for 2 classes last night and left 10 minutes into the second class because he was so short tempted. I'm still interested in salsa lessons but I will seek them someplace else where the instructors are happy to have me there. read more

This was our second time visiting La Rumba visiting from Colorado Springs. We always feel welcome and able to enjoy the dance floor. My skill level for salsa dance is poor and my girl friends skill level is very high. We both are welcome and comfortable with the instruction we get. Female Instructor on 1/19/2019 was horrible . She didn't even teach the class basic steps long enough before she went into turns . The class was rushed and all of the class was completely. I felt loss, I felt like I was in a Zumba class were you just follow the moves of the instructor on your own. This was the first time Ive ever experienced such a bad Instructor and was totally disappointed and embarrassed due to the Friends and family that was visiting from out of town. La Rumba is the spot to learn salsa. After returning from Colombia, I wanted to learn salsa dancing. A friend suggested this spot and I'm glad I came out. Jig and Senora teach the lessons. Very reasonably priced I recommend you buy a 3 month package for unlimited classes and come at least 2 times per week to learn. I felt comfortable with the pace and instruction. Check out YouTube if your coming before your first class, it helps a lot!! On Thurs through Sun the club goes wild. People are pretty good dancers in general and it can get a bit crowded. From DC to VA to CO to NY. I know where to Salsa every where I have lived. So here is the run down... Tropical Thursdays! Doors open at 9pm and cover is $3 Free salsa lesson 9:30-10:00 pm Latin Fridays! Doors open at 9pm and cover is $5 however ladies get in free until 11pm! Free Bachata dance lesson at 9:30pm Salsa Saturdays! Doors open at 8pm and cover is $10 Salsa Workshop begins at 8:00pm. Saturdays usually have a live band which are good and place classics. Salsa Sundays! Doors open at 7pm and cover is $6 Two dance lessons are included I usually go every Fridays or Saturdays. Drinks are good and you will be dancing from the time you come in until you leave. The atmosphere is great and I never was left alone which is a good thing. Dancers do seem to get better after 10pm. Denver is low key so do not expect bottle service, seating or waitress. This is not NYC or DC. So get your drinks at the bar on your own. There is an awesome female bathroom attendant that I call "Chicago." She is friendly and always well stocked; please tip her she is awesome. read more

I had never been salsa dancing before. I was excited to go, and had no idea what to expect. We walk in, order drinks, and people watch for a little bit. We wait for the lessons to begin. For about a half hour, instructors teach the crowd how to salsa dance. The moves are simple, but they go fast. You have to keep up. It loosens everyone up because before the lessons, there were about 4 people on the floor. After the lessons? About 50 people. The crowd is a mix of ages. There are all the couples who are there to dance, a few single ladies, and a few single guys. Don't be afraid to come here without a partner... you will find one or more by the end of the night. In a non-creepy way, of course. I went with my boyfriend, but while he was at the bar getting drinks, an older gentleman asked me to dance. "Me?" I asked, just to be sure. "I'm a beginner." He said, "That's okay!" And away we went. And I spun and I spun for one song, hardly able to keep up, and then we parted ways. Non-committal dancing. Love it. You don't have to dress up, but it helps get you in the mood. Show off those legs ladies! It's a lot more fun to spin and whatnot when your dress or skirt is flowy. Spin those heels, but be careful! I got a stiletto kicked into my ankle bone, and it swelled up to a big fat bruise the next day. Now if only I could dance like those ladies spinning and twirling without a care in the world I'm still a little self-conscious about my moves, but I'm getting the hang of it. Just loosen up and enjoy. I've gone a few times now, and have had fun each and every time. I think the best night is Thursday (little less crowded than the weekend). I went to Lipgloss/LaRumba for the first time in quite a while a couple weekends ago and I discovered a couple of things: I'm old and I'm not cool anymore. How did I figure this out? Well, my friends and I decided to go early to avoid the cover charge and save some money. The cover charge of $5 starts at 10 pm, which I think is relatively late. How does this make me old? A ton of club in Denver have no cover until 10. La Rumba isn't some great deal to get in free super late. It's pretty standard. I went early to save $5. That also makes me old. $5 was chump change for club entry to me in my early 20s. Seriously, $5 was bought me one extra beer and I got to start my night at a reasonable time. How does Lipgloss make me feel totally uncool? Well, for one apparently, only old, uncool people get to Lipgloss before 11:30. Although there was a little affectation swimming around in the room, the real hipster irony didn't start showing up until around 10:30. I chose to sit with my girlfriends and make fun of everyone in the bar rather than go dance. That either makes me too cool for school or really uncool. Since it's technically a dance club, I think it makes me uncool. When I finally did get out to bust a move, I don't think I did a single sexy dance move. All these lithe little hipsters were dancing around my group being all cute and spritely and my go to move was the "wacky waving inflatable arms guy." Also, dancing after a few beers makes me feel bloated and me started hurting. So, yes, Lipgloss has great drink specials and the decor at La Rumba is pretty great, but I think I'm far too old to be there on a Friday night. Especially since each time I go, I identify more and more with the bathroom attendant than I do with the kids dancing outside. God, I'm so old. read more

One day, I broke down and said 'Hey honey, wanna go dancing'. 'Yea right...' she said. So to surprise her, I looked up on YELP, good dancing places. I found, routinely high reviews, of La Rumba. We went on Thursday (Halloween night) for the Salsa Workshop, and we had a blast! Great fun learning how to Salsa, although we still were terrible, we had fun. There were lots of other terrible dancers having fun with us. It was just a fun place to go. At 11, the costume contest started and it was a huge mix of creative and store bought, with a nice parade of the macabre! Drinks were excellent and not too pricey either.
