She's in her second year of dancing in the ballet company. It's a lot of work! Happily, the dancers aren't measured against an impossible standard or even one another. Instead, each dancer is encouraged to work towards their personal best. The wonderful people at Park Hill Dance are helping my daughter build the (metaphorical) muscle memory she needs to take on challenges outside of the studio too. This is my last review for 2007 so I decided I'd make it count…read more I'm not a pro but as someone who CRAVES a heartfelt and sweaty dance class every now and then I was desperate to find an appropriate facility that was not associated with a dance club/bar/lounge. Clearly I found it but in dancer terms this place was a a little bit of an arrastre (drag). Call ahead just to confirm any change in schedule. I'm not familiar with class sizes at this particular joint but there was definitely space to go around. I appreciated how extremely clean and organized the dance studio was yet lacked the unique punk, hipster, bad ass feel. Instructors were lovely but not as groovy as those at Broadway Dance as I never really got into the plie mood. All in all, I suggest this dance studio to those that are craving an expensive class to fix your craving. And by expensive I mean you'll pay crazy amounts of money for over an hour class.

Samantha had been accepted at DSA and her middle school career was about to begin! She has been at the school as a theater major for almost 8 months now and I must say, I am most impressed. The talent here is ridiculous and like Colin mentioned in his review, DSA offers some of the most wonderful plays, musicals, concerts and dance productions in the entire Metro area. Last night's performance was a Broadway review which the kids will actually perform downtown tonight for a big fund-raising gala for The Kempe Foundation. There are simple not enough ways to describe just how talented these kids are and how spectacular the show was. As the first act began and the young lady opened her mouth, my God the sound that came out was quite literally unreal. To be so young and so gifted it was enough to bring a person to tears. Things got better from there, which is hard to believe considering it started out at FANTASTIC! There were dancers and singers and actors which easily rival anything on Broadway. Numbers from Annie, and Hair, Joesph and the Technicolor Dream coat, Hair spay, and several others, for 10 bucks. It was a night for the record books, and as a mama so full of pride and awe I must say... my baby kicked some series Broadway booty last night. Way to go kiddo! So if you are looking for some raw and insane talent for a very reasonable price and feel like contributing to a great, local and PUBLIC school in Denver, get yourself on their newsletter list and ENJOY!!! For a little girl who loves to dance and wants to be introduced to all the twirling and leaping and jumping, we should have jumped at the chance to get a refund of our money, that we paid online no doubt to participate. Our fist class had just her and the instructor and no other children so we thought this is good, kind of like a private lesson. Turns out they were all private as the teacher did not even show up sometimes, or even showed up late and left early to do something. We paid the full amount for 1 hr of classes a week and we showed up but sometimes there was no class and we were never even notified ahead of time. My daughter volunteered as receptionist because sometimes nobody was covering the desk. There were sessions missed that they did not even offer to make up until it was mentioned to them, and once my granddaughter said she did not want to return, they would not even consider a refund for the classes missed. The owner actually told my daughter that she signed my daughter up on the computer when she was there, when in all actually we did it on line under my name. Go figure, how that happened when you are not taught how to use the computer while working the front desk anyway...hmm. Regardless to say the gift card never arrived either, like promised. Hate to say it, but this is so not worth the money,time or effort to start your little one with beginning dance. Find an established business that will actually take an interest in your little one and not just the money you paid.

Fancy Footwork was a series of short 2-5 minute dances that were a combination of classic and modern dance. In short- we LOVED it! I love not knowing what is coming next. The modern dance which typically I am less a fan of then the classics was jaw droopingly gorgeous and creative. The studio on Santa Fe is also small and intimate and the audience sat in a bleacher style set up that made for a really special night.
