What's left is a random collection of half-baked ideas by management with no understanding of a music scene whose ever-changing themes seem copied from the websites of clubs in Europe, or maybe, Alabama, who knows? Go upstairs and things are worse with a Janky wanna-be suburban gangsta DJ playing pre-recorded mixes from songs that were obviously ripped from YouTube, and shooting monopoly money from toy guns like an anamatronic rat at Chick E. Cheezy's. Anything that was truly edgy and cool has now been thrown out and replaced by pure neglect, promos slapped together by some AI they didn't even bother buying a subscription to--you know, the basic version which is completely on brand--reduced to a desperate cash grab. This is apparent as soon as you step over puddles of urine and walk in the door, and through the fake metal detector (and oh yeah, then over sand bags and puddles from sewer pipes that overflow because the owner is too cheap to invest in repairs or ensure customer safety), finally into a building that is in disrepair. Yeah, it's a vibe from a backwater dancehall in Khazakhstan but unintentionally, not so much as a place of entertainment. Almost everything, and I mean everything in the venue is old, outdated, or broken, from the ATM (you'd be crazy to trust that anyway) and arcade games, to the club rooms with broken, non-working club lights, and again pipes that drip and leak (you'll literally see buckets on the middle of the dance floor, and garbage bags draped over the DJ booths and the bar--and no, they don't sanitize after these accidents, evveeeer. The place is in disrepair and what used to be rooms with cool decor are now just generic and dirty looking as basic cleanliness is non-existent--the whole venue reeks the moment you walk in. Most worrisome is the lack of security (good luck finding anyone if you need help after you get past the door person) making the disorganized chaos feel unsafe and gross and anything but exciting. While Milk was once a cool and celebrated part of the Denver club scene up until a few years before the pandemic, the owner has obviously lost touch with reality and has no sense of loyalty to a clientele and commujity who made his clubs successful. But this has been a long time coming as Milk has been on the slow and steady decline for years. Over the last year the place has spiraled into a complete free fall with the last regular DJs pushed out and replaced by amateurs like the dude who needs a platform to stand on whose sets sound like a complication of greatest hits CDs played on random, with no theme or identity. The events and nights seem thrown together at the last minute, like you know splattered against the wall to see what will stick, but it's stinking instead. Its consistency, its soul, its relevance is gone. Most damning and reflective is the point several other reviewers have made about the vibe of sexism that exudes like the toxic masculinity that produces it from those who run this place as it's almost all male managers, DJs and bartenders, with a few women in the lowest, menial positions. And that obvious bias and grossness speaks volumes! My humble advice: save your night, your money, your self-respect and conscience choosing instead to support venues and spaces that actually know something about loyalty and principles other than greed and pettiness, which actually cares about and respects its patrons and customers.

We were surprised with a "Fair Wage and Inflation Fee (this is not a tip) (20%)" line in our receipts, which let's be real, most of that or at least part of it is very likely going to the owner(s) not the staff. On top of that, I know quite a few musicians in Denver and almost every one that has worked with Your Mom's House has told me that they had issues with getting paid. Overall, it is a fun space but I can't support a business that operates this way.

I thought there was a lock with a large key that I was missing. But I digress. The Negronis were on point, and I enjoyed them outside as the weather was fine and not freezing or hot. The service was fast, but it wasn't packed yet at 10 PM local time, so maybe give it an hour or two; then it may be a different story. There are two bar areas for the record, with the first one by the entrance where you arrived. The Mockingbird is definitely a lot of fun to enjoy.

I've never bought drinks here bc that's the word of mouth. When I go with other femme presenting people, we get harassed. When I go with a man and he leaves my side, I become a target. If you go with a group it's a bit safer but it's still an on-edge experience. There are different rooms decorated very well, the sound bleeds and the speakers aren't the best for anything other than remixes.

Since my last time here it's been redone. Not surprising as that was years ago. So many rooms of fun and different styles of music. Lots of bars tucked everywhere so you can always buy a drink. And food trucks outside too. We wandered in the different rooms, enjoying a drink and looking at the merchandise for sale. So many talented vendors. The VIP tickets came with a settee and bubbly. We toasted my friend and enjoyed relaxing there between our . The gender neutral restrooms threw me off a little as the urinals are out in the open. I've been in ones with stalls but this was a first for me. The alley was cool as you can play games and eat at the food truck and drink at the bar. It was cold weather so we didn't stay long in the alley. Back inside for more dancing. Little platforms to dance on. And then dancers made an appearance on the main stage. What a fun night.

The Black Box has become my second home in Denver! Great people, great atmosphere, ABSURDLY AWESOME music. Highly recommend checking out :) A note to some people who have had some bad experiences with this "night club". The Sub.mission crew took over this venue in the hopes of being an inclusive environment that focuses on moving people through sound, not hype. (If you're expecting an extravegant hype-y club like Beta downtown this might not be the place for you) Everyone here has always been more than welcoming and some of the more inclusive "night clubs" I have seen. The talent this club books ranges from local DJs all the way to well known UK dub artists, giving local DJs big opportunities to open for a more well-known artist or to even just showcase their raw talents in the hopes more people can be moved by what they can produce. The size of the crowd does not matter just as long as you come in with an inclusive mental attitude I know for a FACT that you will walk out with 5 new friends experiencing tunes you probably have never heard before! 5/5 !!! read more

This is undoubtedly one of the best venues you'll find stateside for underground electronic music. It all starts with the hybrid F-1 setup by Basscouch, a truly great sound system for a venue of this size. Excellent weekly lineups closely curated by dedicated and passionate management. Very reasonably priced tickets and drinks along with a second room called the Lounge always free. The crowd and staff are always friendly. This place is the real deal! read more

This is the best venue in the country for underground edm music. The sound system was designed perfectly for the intimate dance floor. The entire staff is super nice every time. Drinks are affordable, the lounge area is also free to enter most nights with local dj acts and vendors. Can't recommend this place enough! read more

The salsa was my favorite. We had to track down a cook to get a few chip refills (for free). Super fun spot for a mid day drink.

What makes this one unique is that they have events there all the time mostly DJ shows but they also do trivia and stuff like that as well. The bar itself is not that big even when considering the bar, the music floor, and back patio. Expect there to be quite a bit of bumping into people. The sound quality is not that bad and works especially well with DJ style music. I would highly recommend bringing earplugs as it can get very loud. The bathrooms there are on the second floor and can be accessed by the stairs next to the entrance. They are not big so expect to wait in a line for quite a while during bigger shows.

Anybody who's come out of Colorado to become a big name has gone through those doors to play on the little stage. From local to traveling acts, from punk bands and karaoke talent to gritty stand-up and flirty burlesque, this place has it. If you're up for a night that doesn't stink of ordinary, swing through that creaky door and take in a most memorable evening. If there is a cover, it's usually nominal. Drinks are cheap, served by a great crew that's always up for a laugh and cheers. Sometimes hitting the town isn't about getting fancy but just kicking back, and this is a great place to do just that off the mainstream treads.

The bar had just opened and it was quiet. Lots of tvs. Fun bartenders and unassuming prices make this a good choice. Wine was cheap and so was the fireball and vodka. Imagine that, cheap Fireball... By 7pm it was a big crowd and fun energy was happening. On our way out we had to have some taqueria style tacos from Tacos Martin then went back in to chow down and watch this week's episode of RPDR replayed at 7:30. I'm not a gay bar aficionado but I know what I'm comfortable with and what feels fun and this is it. Kitty corner across the street is the brother bar Trade. Haven't been there but it's a local fave too.

The staff is nice. The people are fun. And they have a plethora of song options for karaoke.read more

Marquis is not big in the slightest, as it holds a few hundred people max. Sure, you'll be on top of one another here, and that's not necessarily a bad thing in my opinion. I've seen 5 or 6 shows here over the past few years. They do a great job solidifying a diverse lineup of bands and artists. Just a few weeks ago, I saw one of my favorite bands, Baroness, for maybe the 6th time. They could've easily played a larger venue like Ogden or Gothic, but chose to play to a more intimate crowd. We thank you for that! The best part of the entire venue is how low the stage is and how close you can get to the bands or artists. I have some incredible footage being right next to the guitar players. It's so damn cool! Marquis is really the only major club of its kind in Denver. Things to note: it's cashless and there's no re-entry. Another cool thing is that they make pretty damn good pizza. YEP FTW? Get yourself a slice after the show if you have the patience. I'm glad Marquis exists, and I always get excited when I get to see a show here!

Great sound quality in my opinion! Went here last night for Charli Party and definitely enjoyed…read moremyself. The pizza bar is a great addition and although I didn't try it, it smelled delicious. Truly wish this place had a coat check and I'd be more likely to rate 5 stars. Staff was excellent and bartenders were very quick. I'll be back but this time without my jacket :)
