Went there for their bachata Latin dance night. Security and pay at the door, typical of a club. Server at the bar is nice. The place is not super big but does have wood floors which is nice. This is the worst club in Denver. We were there about six of us. One of my friends was wearing a jersey, shirt that only look like a jersey, but you didn't belong to any team and just because of that they didn't let us in, the security ay the door it was very rude, they have a dress code what you cannot wear shorts or caps or anything that looks like a sports and I wonder why that plays was empty and that is why I do not recommend this place. read more

Will never come back to this club. It's clear they have a new owner. This used to be the spot for Latin dancing in Denver but it's just gone so downhill. My group was harassed by security because I took off my jacket to search for my lipgloss and earplugs. Apparently the security guard thought I was going to leave my jacket on the floor? I was just looking for stuff in my pockets. I seriously felt unsafe the way the security guard was exerting himself on me. Im a 5ft woman and this 6ft+ man was hounding me over a jacket. Overall the people and environment were fun and vibrant. It was Hispanic night, so the music was exclusively Hispanic. This is totally fine, but it wasn't really advertised anywhere and we were definitely hoping for a good variety of music to dance to. The cover is super high after a certain amount of time. Not shocking in Denver, but not ideal for what you get there. The bouncers were nice but others were a little too aggressive. Make sure you know what type of theme they have if you go! read more

Seeking a place for some dancing and bottle service to round out my friend's bachelorette weekend - we found ourselves at Blue Ice. SPACE/ATMOSPHERE: It should be noted here that this is essentially an "upscale" Latin club. When I say upscale I mean that they do have a dress code that they enforce. No baseball hats or torn up jeans found here folks! That being said there were a few rather awkward things about the space. In the bathrooms for instance, if someone is standing at the sinks you cannot fully open the door to the toilet stall because there is not enough room. Awkward. It's also very dark, in my opinion. DRINKS: We opted for a bottle of vodka because most of the girls had been sipping on vodka sodas' throughout the evening. Pretty standard. Seemed like a nice quality of vodka. Didn't have the burn of a cheap brand. You have your choice of mixers as well. We opted for cranberry juice, pineapple juice, and soda water. They brought limes over as well. SERVICE: Eh, not the best. I felt like our server was very inattentive. She rarely checked on us. We found ourselves out of mixers before she made her way back to us. We were the only "reserved" table there, so I really don't think we should've ever gone without. The whole experience was a little odd. I don't think I would recommend a reservation/bottle service here. However, I can see where dropping in, having some margs, and dancing with your girls might be appealing. All in all, I won't rule Blue Ice completely out of my downtown evening adventures. read more

I love coming here for the salsa dancing on Wednesday nights! You can easily grab great drinks and the instructors are great! Often times people will stay over and it turns into a social dancing night! It's definitely a fun time adding to the local Latin dance scene in Denver! read more

This venue took me by surprise. When you walk in, it's like a hybrid dive bar-nightclub. The staff is mellow and doesn't talk much. They wear all black and pour stiff drinks. The crowd is eclectic and sprinkled throughout from the tables to the bar top. Then 10pm hits. Most of the original patrons stick around and *boom*. Men rocking collared shirts and women dressed in skin tight dresses show up and take over the dance floor. Everyone is salsa dancing or shaking their rump. What is happening?! Magic. What stole the show for me were the tacos. Apparently there is a food truck crew that takes over their kitchen at night and prepares the pockets of corn tortilla magic. The El Pastor was my favorite. Pork and pineapples. The fried avocado was also very satisfying. Not sure when I'll be back, but I might have to dust off my dancing shoes. After a few tequila shots of course. read more

Blue Ice was a really fun surprise! One of my friends who lives in Denver recommended it and we had a great time! This place gets super packed! Everyone was out on the dance floor enjoying themselves and what I really loved about it was that people were actually DANCING, not just bumpin' and grindin', lol. They were out there to dance and you could see that they were genuinely enjoying themselves and having a good time. They also have bottle service (and I think hookahs) here too if you're into that. $10 cover but I'd say it was worth it! Oh, one last thing... It's super loud so if you're wanting to be able to visit with your friends you might want to find a place that's a little quieter. read more

This place was whatever.. I went with a large group because we were in the mood to dance to some Spanish music, however, we left after like 20 minutes because the DJ lacked variety in songs. He played the same song for 10 minutes and then changed it to another song that sounded too similar to the first one. The bartender wasn't the friendliest and didn't acknowledge us for a good 10 minutes. They also have a cover of $10 per person. read more

$10 cover empty bar that would not let us come in because our friend was wearing a hat. Host said it was because the owner did not like people wearing hats. Have they ever thought that people are bold and prefer to wear hats. This is ridiculous and I would highly recommend staying away from this dead bar that charges a cover as a ripoff. read more

Blue Ice is a cool spot with a mixed crowd and a good mix of music. Not a place where local blacks would call a staple tho.

Blue Ice (video game), a PC video game from Psygnosis 4. Blue Ice (film), a 1992 film starring Michael Caine 5. Blue Ice (ice pack), manufactured by Rubbermaid I believe this place got its name from a hybrid definition of #2 (aerial waste tank refuse) and #5 (Rubbermaid ice packs). I was scheduled to paint here live with my DJ friends and it went from a night of funky house music to a Reggaeton nightmare. For starters, the entire place smells like human urine. The odor of human excretions seems to be deeply saturated in the carpet and upholstery. Second, if you want to know what it's like to get physically threatened at gunpoint by two, tall Jamaican guys in dreads and a short, crippled white guy with a funny accent, this is your place. But I think anyone would much rather stick to watching the Crips duke it out on South Park. Third, the brawl came from serious mismanagement which led to double-booking of the two parties (the Crips and the DJs). So if you're looking to host a party anytime soon, I would not recommend doing so here because you might end up with a canceled reservation, unpleasant ambiance and your guests being randomly "Jah-terrorized" by the local hoodlum pack. The only nice thing about the evening was the bouncer personally seeing us to our cars for our own safety. He was nothing short of kind, sweet and caring - so I can't say the entire staff should be associated with this unholy review. read more

Went here on a Saturday night when the party going on gave Capricorns free cover, bonus. The crowd was generally well groomed and there were legs galore. It was crowded but not packed, so moving around was not a navigational nightmare, I liked that. The ratio was not my definition of "meat market", which I typically size up as around 65M/35W%, but it was what I'd call "challenging", about 55M/45W%, Demographics were similar to what you'd find at the Funky Buddha, in fact, it's a good comparison on some levels. This might be a stretch, but I gander the crowd was slightly less sophisticated as what you'd run across at the Buddha, though not near as bad as some reviewers have griped about at the Bash. As to the smells most people speak of, that can be remedied by close proximity to a good smelling person, so I had no issues with it, in fact I didn't really notice anything. There were more than one spills that night, so I can imagine it gets funky. If PBR is $4 there, then they must have a flat rate for draft beers, because my Fat Tire cost the same. There are bars I drink PBR at, and I'd generally not order one at a place like this. Maybe Fat Tire isn't ideal either, but their draft glasses are pretty sexy looking and at least 20 ounces if not a Pint in size. No insight on their well drinks or shots. They get a star for getting me in the door for free; but for not being a truly downtown bar and only one DJ in the whole place, I would argue it's not worth more than $10 a night. There are two bars though, another bonus. Staff was pretty good, though it doesn't look like they really enjoy their job, so I'm sure lots of drama can or has occur(ed). Blue Ice is very fun, don't get me wrong, BUT there are some flaws with this place. Girl fights in the bathroom. A $10 cover...as if. It is very small, and in an inconvenient location. The bartenders are prompt and efficient, but not super friendly, but it seems like a hard crowd, so I'm sure their curtness is warranted. I paid for 6 people, walked in and suddenly bumped in to the "owner" and got escorted out. So we were attending the place to celebrate my sisters birthday, who was already inside with a group of friends. I had just gotten there with another group of 6. I had just finished paying for my group when I sprinted to the bathroom, when a guy coming from that area bumped into me. Not even a shoulder check, just a quick bump nothing out of the other world. I even turned to excuse myself, when he said something and all of the sudden I have security grabbing me. Faced me back to the direction I was coming from and escorted me out of the complex. My group who was still at the entrance saw the event and questions what was going on. Even other by standards tried to talk to security for me. In the end their only responds was "you bumped into the wrong guy, you have to go out. His the owner.". Security upfront was as baffled as I was, No refund but I do have to say overall security was very supportive just bad management. Definitely not a place I would go again to be scared to bump into the "wrong" person. We were in the place for no longer then 5 sec. It really sucks because it's the only place I enjoy to go on Saturdays, its been a regular spot for me and my friends. I even have friends who work there and to be honest I'm 100% sure it wasn't the the owner but the manager since I've meet he owner a couple times and his been a great guy. Before I moved, this was certainly not my favorite spot. Now that I live on Broadway? I wish this place would go to hell. Blaring music with outdoor speakers from your "club" after 2:00 AM on a Sunday is absurd. Also, try keeping your patrons from causing raucous after close. I'm so sick of obnoxious screaming & bass shaking my entire apartment after 1AM on a week night. It's obvious I have a personal vendetta with Blue Ice. But if you're someone who enjoys South Broadway bars, I can honestly say this place isn't worth more than a star for you either. Try something a little less frightening; Badger's on Broadway has more class than this place for God's sake. Sorry I'm not sorry, Blue Ice. You're in the wrong neighborhood. read more

Love that you don't have to go all the way downtown to dance. Location is nice where there are lots of up and coming places...restaurants, bookstore, not too hard to park. Temperature - beyond hot - it was july and there was absolutely no air conditioning. The stage - well there wasn't one, so i think mainly its for dancing and a dj. This is getting three stars for one simple reason: While it's definitely not my kind of place, it wasn't bad. Bartender let us in without a cover, but we hated the music, found the clientele irritating, had a little fun people-watching as everyone danced, got hit by handbags for 15 minutes as girls paraded back and forth to the bathroom, had a beer, then we left. Blue Ice has been around for years, service is ok, prices are ok but nothing that makes this bar/club really stand out! Mostly a hip hop and Latin music venue. It will get packed on event nights as this place is fairly small. I had a surprisingly good time here. Reading the Yelp reviews made this place seem sketch along with my past experiences walking by this place on a Friday/Saturday night. My friends got this place to host a swing dance with two days notice. The organizers misinformed a DJ when they'd start, so the manager accommodated us and ran a Pandora channel for the first 30 minutes. They have a nice dance floor.
