Very lively on the Friday night we were here. It was awesome. The atmosphere is also pretty sweet. We only ordered basic spirits to drink but the service was nice and they were happy to give me extra lime in my rum and coke. The date is 05/25 we went in expecting a fun time like my friends usually do. We got a special on our drinks for being girls. We got kicked out because "security" came at us saying someone in our group touched someone even though they touched her first. He claimed she touched them first but security cameras will show otherwise. However the guys in our group got falsely accused beforehand for being "too drunk". Paid to do the Denver Halloween Bar Crawl, which said in the fine print on our ticket and lanyard that all entry fees would be waived at participating locations until 2am. They did not honor the waived cover even though they advertised it, saying that promo ended only shortly after check in time, we tried to show them the event details, they were rude and would not look or calmly listen. This was my friend's favorite hangout and was often a stop for a cyclists pub crawl on the weekends. That night was no exception. Cyclists were on the hunt for beer and fun. It was fun running into some of the fun cyclists in for a beer stop. I was there with my friend and some of her friends too. It was a rowdy and deliriously good time. They had ice cold Coronas and lots of draft beers too. We even made some Washington bill contributions to add to the bar. I wonder if they are still there today. It's almost that time of the year....Rockies opening day! This is our normal starring place before we pile into Coors field for opening day or any Rockies home game. This place is only for the young college age predominantly hipster/ chic crowd now according to the door person now. Pretty interesting on a Thursday night we return just to meet friends for the fun atmosphere & energy inside, not last week. Door man instantly stops us & says we don't do tatts here fellas, and yeah it looks like you have a neck tattoo we especially don't allow people with neck tattoos inside. Huh? First & foremost YOU'RE IN DENVER COLORADO & you don't allow tattooed people inside a downtown bar out the blue or was it just us tonight 3 good looking Denzel Washington looking fellas, dressed to the nines & cleaner than the board of health. Ummmmm, ok!!!! Just to state the facts, I swore I've seen 2 tatted female bartenders in your establishment & they had neck tattoos too as a fact. Fact # 2 I can you tell someone has a neck tattoo if they are wearing a turtle neck? Inquiring minds want to know. So if you are management and this is a new policy please place this on your website or front door; otherwise, it seems like racial profiling point blank period! My crew has been to Gin Mill several times a year majority of the time it's on Opening Day.....Sad because this year we will have to find a new opening day prepartying & post partying place due to the new no TATTOO & ESPECIALLY NECK TATTOO policy newly enacted. Just so you know, we said ok, that's new & walked off the line and spent our hard earned tattooed money at other establishment. We didn't even argue or rebut it just laughed, said that's new and we're happily on our way. So food for thought people if you are a chef, bartender, FOH/BOH and want to work here please don't have tattoos if you want a chance to work at this great establishment. Just sad that my friends smaller than a quarter tattoo of his daughter's name under his turtle neck git us barred from Gin Mill. This must be the graveyard for many good turned bad turned blackout memories for anyone I mention The Gin Mill to. But being from the East Coast where a $20 open bar all night is just not a thing and a top shelf open bar at that is completely unheard of, we decided this was the move for Wednesday night Halloween. Oh and we were not wrong. On the outside, it looks like a saloon set deep in the old Wild West. You walk inside and you're back to the now - fairly decent sized space in the front by the bar and a second bar in the back right by a dance floor. I think there was a dj, though I don't recall seeing him. Maybe some more 90s/early 2000s hip hop would have made this night perfect, but music was okay nonetheless. This was our first Halloween in Denver and I do not regret coming here. $20 at the door and I was drinking Jack and ginger all night. Jagerbombs (heavy on the jager) were also free range - how is that even possible? One of these is $12 where I'm from. We left fairly early (around 11pm) because of an open bar casualty. One out of the three of us found himself laying outside next to his own cocktail of the night's drinks plus a splash of stomach acid. I can see how this place could easily become a sh*t show as the night progresses, but thankfully I didn't catch any of that. It was cheap, it was fun, and everyone showed out with the Halloween costumes. Thanks for a great time, Gin Mill, see you again someday. read more

The bouncers come yelling at my husband to take his mask off (being Halloween night) and he asks them why are they yelling at him when he didn't know he couldn't wear his mask. Less than a second later they put him on a chokehold and kick him out, punch me and push me as I'm trying to tell them he wasn't trying to do anything wrong. Last night was the disaster of the decade at the Ginn Mill. I am visiting Denver so I'm not familiar with the bar but the DJ was great so we decided to stay. It was NYE and the bar was packed but the Ginn Mill had zero staff to control the people. We saw 6 fights. 4 of them were between male and females fighting. The most disrespectful aggressive bouncer shoved his way through a crowd of people and legit slapped a drink out of my girlfriends hand. Zero empathy, extremely unapologetic, and had no reason to be as aggressive with us he was. Honestly this man should be fired for the way he handled the situation. Rather than directing us to the bar to help us get another drink or politely asking us to move he when we approached him to discuss the situation we were met with a disrespectful "what do you want" which was followed by "it's packed and you shouldnt be in my way" he then spent the rest of the evening staring us down and instigating us throughout the night. The bartender was a total b****. She has no excuse because we got there before it started getting busy. Thursday's get so packed because of lady's nights. The lady's nights special wasn't all the great either. I don't remember it exactly but I knew the the lady's night at viewhouse was way better. We came back afterwards to check it out again and it was ridiculously packed. The music that was playing was pretty fun to dance too but the service that I got while at the bar was just awful. Such a fun place to check out in Denver. Being from San Francisco, I couldn't believe how cheap the drinks were!! Only 2 or 3 bucks for a mixed drink or beer. I was drugged here. Not certain if it was the blonde girl that made my drink but possibly. I had 2 drinks here (and only here) and then my boyfriend had to take me home. I couldn't stand, I ended up puking violently for the next 24 hours. When he got me home I had seizures and felt like I was slipping away, my boyfriend told me I was crying for my mom and saying that I did not want to die. We came here on a Saturday night during a friend's bachelorette weekend. The layout of this place is nice- it has a lot of potential to be a great place to dance and hang out. If I lived in the area, I'd give this place another try during the week or during happy hour. Unfortunately, on Saturday night, the place was packed with drunk and belligerent people. A fight almost broke out next to me, two guys wouldn't leave one of our friends alone, I got knocked into pretty hard a few times by people who could no longer walk, and the bathroom line was huge, mostly because the bathroom was a drunk sh*tshow. The popcorn was stale and disgusting, and while we were walking in, a drunk guy threw popcorn at us. The music wasn't bad, but the crowd was awkwardly half dancing, and it was too loud to talk... so it ended up being a weird dynamic. There was also a row of men leaning on the walls leering at all the women dancing, which creeps me out. Maybe if I was younger and drunker, I would have enjoyed this place. read more

Hell, I pulled a whole roll out with me." This came back to mind as I watched women streaming in and out of the ladies room during Oktoberfest. More than a few of them had TP stuck to their shoes. I even saw one women with TP on her shoe heading into the ladies room. I am not sure if she was just really oblivious or a repeat customer. Okay, this place is rather divey. It also narrows as you approach the restrooms, creating a choke point. The staff are not all the most friendly (a lot of scowls) but they seemed to be pretty hard working. This place was awesome! We went before AND after a Rockies game, and for good reason. There were 2 for 1 drinks on Sunday, and even the drink we bought was like $3, so we got absolutely smashed on the super cheap. They have a wall full of dollars perched above the bar that people from all over had written on and decorated. If you see a dollar bill like 9' in the air on the left side of the bar, its mine. That's the joy of being 6'7". It was a really really good time, and I highly recommend it. Next time I'm in Denver, I will make it a point to stop by!!! read more

This was our 2nd stop during bar hopping. The line outside is a bit hectic to get into but once in everyone is chillin', everything is dark and a bit dirty and the music is alright. Not alot of dancing from the crowd but it's enough to just bob. Drinks were average, we got jager bombs and there was more redbull than alcohol. Oh my golly...so here we go! The Ginn Mill has that LoDo feel let me tell ya! Lots of plastic happening here, but also great jams and lots of dancing to be had on a late weekend night. Bar options are pretty awesome as well as you can get the blueberry red bull with blueberry vodka and they have it! Lots of bars are limited on their selections so I can vouch that this one won't let you down! Also...if you are getting those drunchies whilst stumbling out of the doors, there are usually tons of food carts and trucks right outside while you make your way to the uber/lyft. This place is different in a good way. With so many hole-in-the walls & high end euro lounges, it's nice to find a place that isn't afraid to give everyone the big middle finger & just be fun. Don't get me wrong, I frequent enjoy plenty of those "other" establishments, just know that sometimes I don't want to wear semi-business-casual & pay $10 for a drink. Sometimes I don't want to be bored in a dirty booth watching some shitty TV shows I could watch for free at home. It's the perfect balance between the two. All the action of the big bars with a down to earth small joint feel. Sometime I just want to kick back in my shorts & flip flops knocking back a few drinks with my peeps & be entertained by a good crowd & atmosphere. Whether it's the dollar bills stapled all over, the peanuts & shells on the floor, or the old time wooden shack feel.... Ginn Mill comes strong with reppin' the rocky mountains in the heart of Denver. The best part is the back porch, just like an old school back yard bash. Happy hour (3pm - 7pm on weekdays) here is my favorite, especially before Rockies games considering its location. 2/3 dollar you-call-its: most beers are $3 and most mixed drinks are $2. They also have free popcorn if you're in a snacking mood. The night-life here is good as well. They have an outside area in the back with beer pong and an additional bar. Overall, a good spot in the evenings and even better during the day, maybe that's why this is my go-to for happy hour downtown! read more

This is my first time and last time at Ginn Mill. The place has the lowest end bartenders that you could find. They were most likely found on the street and hired if they know how to pour liquid into a cup. The drinks are very expensive and the mixed drinks even more so. When they pour the drinks, they basically place an eye dropper worth of booze in each drink. After I drank my $11 Long Island, I got more of a sugar high than any taste of alcohol. If you're loaded with money and have explored EVERY possible option to get a drop of alcohol, don't have a life, and enjoy having a terrible time, still don't come to this bar. read more

This place has continued to decline in quality the last few months. The security guards are always on a power trip and super disrespectful to people. They dont have to be rude in providing reasons why people are not allowed in. They just spew curse words and got very aggressive towards the group of women that i was with. One of our friends showed up late and joined us and the security guard said "dont try to get in my fucking line". First, ur a security guard not the owner of the establishment, calm down. Second, we saw many people walk directly into gin mill so we didnt think adding one more girl to the group of 10 would be a problem. Then when another girl spoke up about the issue the security guard said "shut the fuck up and you can get out of the line too". This is a horrible place and i cant imagine that the owner would want the security guards speaking to a group of women like that. We went elsewhere. It was a young Hispanic man that was being horrible rude to everybody in line. This place used to be a fun spot but the security guards are man af. Would not recommend to anybody. Enjoyed this spot on a Thursday night. Great selection of music with above average bartenders. The location is ideal because it sits between various other bars in the area.
