Previously listed on Westword's Dive Bars in Denver for 2023, I have to say Dr. Proctor definitely tracks as noteworthy dive bar in Denver. Service is great with a very friendly and musical bartender. She recommended a drink I hadn't had before and it now will become one of my favorites. Like Dirty Shirley Temples?! Try it with Deep Eddy lime vodka. It's a game changer. The Dr. had three pool tables, lots of seating, and offers a good time at a reasonable price, which you don't always get with a visit to the doctor's office these days ;)! read more

This neighborhood bar in Glendale has been open for over forty years by Buddy & Arlene Proctor (hence the namesake). Reasoning for the Doctor? You go to the doctor to get a shot to make you better. Shots were definitely being poured for regulars during my visit, and it was fun to people-watch. Super friendly bartender offered drinks with well (which I am sure were cheaper) or name brand spirits at $8ish for a vodka soda. Plenty of sports on the TVs and pool tables to keep people entertained. Bar food is available but usually not until late afternoon, when the cook arrives. read more

Passing tourist, told to leave 40 minutes before closing. As far as im concerned most establishments stay open until its time says its time to close and on a saturday? I've never seen a bar not care about their customers. If only I would have chose any other bar to go to beaides wasting my time driving here only to be told to leave. As soon as you sign a tip they boot you out. Don't come here unless you're going to be prepared to drive to the next bar over. read more

At night its a bar..My husband and I went out last night and tell me way we were there for my be 15 minutes?? It's a bar we laugh have fun ECT..So I went to the bathroom walked out and the security said come on it's time to go I didn't even know the reason behind it.. I asked him why he said You guys are being to loud...That was crazy the whole bar was loud we didn't even talk to no on one like we usually do ..We didn't even order a drink yet. But I guess being happy in a bar is outrages...We have went to this bar many times and have meet many wounderful people there ... But no longer can I support this local because I felt discriminated against and nobody wants to go somewhere where someone's judging them by how they look yes we are brown and we understand that sometimes we will be discriminated upon. I honestly felt like we were way back in the day. For no reason for some people don't matter if you got money if your the wrong color you just not accepted ... After going there many times in the 4 yrs I've lived down the street we have never been a problem.. matter of fact we've got free shots from the owner because we spent so much money there in one sitting..but this time.none of the security was the same everyone was different and they have had a fair share of security and we never trouble them either read more

I work down the street (service industry) and USED to come here often. Let me tell you I will never go back again. It was 1:10 when I arrived and it says 2am close online and I live in the neighborhood and it has always been 2am every Saturday I've visited after work!!! I order my drinks at roughly 1:15 and I work in service industry so I tipped FAT in cash and the same bartender I tipped over 30% cash hovered by me not even 5 minutes after i sat down making sure I was getting ready to leave. I JUST SAT DOWN WITH my BEER!! I let him know I'm going to be finished by the time he's giving me which is 1:30 on a Saturday and the hours online say 2 and he's playing nice and saying he's just joking and being funny!! Okay this is also a pool hall and after he leaves me alone I notice this same bartender harassing the people on the tables and it isn't even 1:30 yet and again the online hours say 2 AM but even if you close at 1:30 ITS NOT EVEN 1:30 yet! And you are pressuring people to leave! This place made me so uncomfortable and I will NEVER go back. When I told him he was making people uncomfortable this guy said "yall should have left when I asked" BEFORE 1:30?? Okay great job guys. read more

First time I've been at this location, came here on a beer trip for the great American beer festival. Came here because they had karaoke Thursday through Saturday night. This place was super chill, a great place to watch a game at. They have plenty of TV screens and they play all the games that are on at the time. Bartenders are super friendly and they have cheap stiff drinks, what more do you want? We happen to order some nachos, they were decent enough, but I would recommend that they add more cheese and meat to their nachos. other than that they were delicious. Overall, this is a great place to watch any sporting event at, they have cheap drinks, and Thursday through Saturday you have live karaoke entertainment. If I visit Denver again I will definitely hit the spot back up. read more

Spacious bar/restaurant/pool hall in Glendale. I have never had an issue with their food, their drinks are always on point, and the service is nice and helpful. I really do like the people who work there and should go more often just because of that. Great service rules all. read more

Went in on a slow Sunday evening, the bartender was friendly and attentive - I always appreciate that. As dive bars go, it's pretty non-descript: lots of pool tables, I think I saw foosball, TVs mounted in all the usual locations. No pinball nor video games, but there's a jukebox. Looks like a good spot to watch sports and drink very reasonably priced beers. Kitchen was closed, so didn't get a chance to try the food. Would go back next time I'm in Glendale. read more

Saturday's are the best day to go since karaoke starts at 9 and there is some talent here! We got their wings and fries. The dry rub was my favorite between that and the buffalo style wings. The wings were drowning in the sauce though. read more

Absolutely life-altering experience from Dr. Proctor's Lounge. Jeremy being the absolute stud he is, offered me a free HANDJOB if i ordered their special for the night. I came within seconds and then proceeded to get belligerently wasted and drove home. I can absolutely say that my experience here was like no other and I will absolutely be returning to see Jeremy ;). read more

I live in the area and I was looking for a bar. Driving on Mississippi I saw a red sign in a strip mall that said "BAR". Sold. The signage was very accurate and I appreciate that. Cool place. Edit: (to add to my review) fantastic service, delightful locals and staff. read more

Proud to say I was one of the weekly regular here for the 2 years I lived in the neighborhood. Every Thursday is kareokee night and that is the highlight of the week. Just good ol dive bar drunk people singing and drinking. The atmosphere is great and the people are quirky and friendly. The bartenders are my favorite. They have been there to celebrate with me after a promotion. Give me free drinks when I broke up up.... and have fun on the regular. There is nothing fancy about this place. Just pool tables, foosball, a dice game and 3 drafts on tap. Pro tips: take care of your bartenders and they will take care of you. And pitchers of Budweiser and a basket of fries are always the way to go! read more

Excellent customer service!!!! Hardly any gluten free options BUT the chef came out and talked with me directly. After my first initial experiences here I thought the place was ok enough for being right across the street from our apartment. Upon my last vist, however, I will never walk through those doors again. The "bartender" was horrible. She's been behind the bar a couple times when I've been and she always sucks. Today, though, was the worst. We seated ourselves at a table and started looking at the menu. After several minutes (mind you, there were only about 6 people including us in the bar), she said she'd be with us in a minute. She finally came over and we ordered drinks. I had a PBR (on special for $3) and my friend had a Coke. We ordered food and it was ok. I got a BLT and fries. The bacon was undercooked but the fries were alright. She got enchiladas which she said was pretty good. My friend asked for a refill before we got our food. APPARENTLY, there are NO REFILLS. Are you kidding me?? She didn't inform her of that when she ordered nor was it a can or bottle or something. It was a pint glass full of ice and barely any Coke at all. Really??? So she ordered a water. Seemed to be the same deal with the water. All ice and barely any water. She asked for more water after about the 3rd or 4th time the lady walked by. Her glass had been sitting on the edge empty for at least 15 min. Several other people were served AFTER she asked for more water and there was never a time when both of her hands were full. We also asked for the bill twice and a to go box. I finally had to walk up to the bar (which was only about 4 feet away so it's not like we were across the room) and asked for it again. When we got the bill, several things were pretty messed up. ALWAYS LOOK AT YOUR BILL. First of all, she charged me $3.50 for my PBR. When I said something, her response was "oh they don't tell me what's on special". Um, I'm sorry but I am a server too. IT'S YOUR JOB TO KNOW. Not to mention the sign hanging on the wall in plain view. Second, my friend's soda wth no refill was $2. There were no drinks even listed on the menu for you to know you were about to get ripped off.. It's been a long time since I've given a crappy tip. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt but when there's service this bad I don't hesitate to. As for never stepping inside this place again, that is for the fact of them trying to rip off their customers with poor customer service and overpriced drinks. I've been there for happy hour and those prices suck too. If this is how they treat all their patrons, I don't see how they're even still in business. read more

This little dive bar offers karaoke on Thursdays, hosted by my fellow karaoke homeslice Daniel. They sport a late kitchen menu, ample parking, and clean, fully-stocked toilets! When I say little bar, I'm not joking. The pool tables take up all the space on the lower level and the upper level has some bar seating, really tight rail seating, and 3 tables. If you don' want to have to sit on your friend's face, I suggest you get there early. The sound for karaoke is pretty good and there's a decent song selection. However, I was disappointed that they didn't have Paranoid Android (for shame as Daniel rocks this song). The crowd seems mellow and polite. All in all, it was a good time! read more

My friends and I were looking for a place to play pool and came across this place. The waitresses were very attentive and made my time enjoyable. The problem is the dirty cook that acts like he owns the place and mistreats the other employees. He was unprofessional af. He was very rude to me and my group of friends about the pool table we were already playing on and when the waitresses asked him to go back in the kitchen for an order, which seemed like he was too drunk to make anyways, he snapped at her in front of a room full of customers. If he wasn't there me and my friend might return but it's not worth my money dealing with such a dick. read more

We came from Florida to Denver for a big project. Of course you need to find a local dive bar to call home....we found it. The staff was unbelievably nice and welcoming. Misty and Autumn were our servers most of the times we came here. Maggie was behind the bar and gave us a great list of things to do when we had down time. We were always welcomed with a smile and our drinks were waiting for us. My hat goes off to the little bar that welcomed us. Come and have a drink and a laugh, I recommend the place. I'm new not just to the neighborhood but to the state. Happened to move across the street so decided to walk over with my bf. Bartender was Susie and she was a sweetheart! A huge pitcher of shock top was $7 .. Say what?? I got my bf hammered drunk for $15 lol. And if you get bored there's like 5 pool tables $0.75/game, jukebox ($0.50/song), and the locals that seem to be very friendly thus far! If you are looking for the "BJ's" experience this is not your place. But if you want a low-key, walk-to bar with spur cheap beer then.. Welcome! Good food, good drinks, great employees! My friends and I head over there every once in a while for post practice drinks. If you are hungry, I highly recommend the tacos, the quesadilla, the french fries and the bratwurst. Totally random, I know, but sooo good! The tacos are $1.50 each on little corn tortillas. There's always two tortillas so you can split them in half. It's the cook's own recipe. The salsa is extra, extra hot so I always get diced tomatos instead. 2-3 is a perfect little dinner with a side of beer...and you can always get more of both :) read more

When I first arrived I was treated well. With a lot of kindness and respect. When the shift change came later on it was replaced by and very unfriendly bartender. On top of my card was charged 3 Times! But to top it off when I call and let them know, the lady was on phone was extremely unconcerned and not helpful. Took my number but didn't even ask for my name. Said she will take care of it when she can. When you are triple charged that is not ok. And it needs to be handled immediately . I will never return and I'm sure my friends won't either. Everyone has something nice to say at this point I believe this is a poorly run business and they need to reconsider some of its staff. read more

It's a dive bar. Come in knowing that and you won't really have any problems. I've had service once or twice that was less than great but overall I like this place and I keep coming when I want a beer in the neighborhood. It's quiet with a small crowd during the weekday afternoons but busier weekend nights. They have five pool tables which is nice. On sundays I come to watch football and it's nice as an eagles fan to have a place that will put the game up. They have several TVs around the bar so usually you can get your teams game up if you're not a broncos fan. The wings are actually pretty decent and I'm a wing snob so that's saying something. I haven't tried anything else on the menu though. Overall one of the things that Could improve is more beers on tap. The shock top comes out good and fresh but the bud light feels flat and I think the only other option is Budweiser for the on tap beers. So if you're a craft beer kind of person this might not be your spot but the selection is good enough for me. Also the whiskey and cokes taste watered down. read more

I have never been treated as poorly as I was at Dr. Proctor's. I came in after a long day and just wanted a drink but the incredibly rude and unprofessional bartender refused to accept my out of state ID. I showed her the birth date, I am 25, but she refused to accept it and began to yell at me about how I cannot drink in Colorado with an out of state ID. I have lived here for two years and have never had an issue before, including at the the liquor store a block away. I will never be returning to Dr. Proctor's and I would never recommend this place even to my worst enemy. IF YOU ARE FROM OUT OF STATE, DO NOT GO HERE!
