They have 3 locations, this one is in the Seattle Center -- Armory. Staff are very accommodating and friendly. The ordering/paying countertop is beautiful with a raw edge slab of wood. This being the Armory, there are plenty of places to sit indoors, or take it to go outside. We had the hatch chili & chicken pie and the lamb curry pie. My buddy ate his lamb pie while it was still warm, loved it, said the filling was "nice and juicy". I had to wait and eat mine at room temperature and it was still mighty tasty, if not slightly on the dry side. Not sure if it would have been moister if eaten right away. We came in from the rain on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. The place was so empty, we thought they might be closed. This could be bad or good, depending. So I'm enjoying all the attention and the silence. Great conversations and phenomenal service. lol. I love that they use local ingredients. The flavours were special and the staff were precious. Most of our party celebrated the huge portions. We come here from Michigan's U.P. and Northern Wisconsin, where the pasties are bigger than yer head! I really dig their poutine and the sausage roll. Everything was prepared alright. Not spectacular. But there's a rather large conflict on something we from the east call a living wage surcharge. I've noticed in this state that companies are very transparent when charging it. I don't like that practice and I let management know this (not that they care). You could be tempted to withhold a tip but that's like comparing apples to oranges and not fair to the waitstaff. The fee is charged to help the restaurateurs cover the cost of paying their hourly employees, without raising the prices on the menu. It is my firm belief that you be upfront and honest about this fee. I feel transparency is underhanded and deceitful. Got the Epic Pie experience for about $25 which includes a pie, a topping, and a side. We were one of the only people there so service was quick. It's right by the water on by the pier so it's a nice place to sit inside when it's cold and look at the water. Got the Shepard pie w gravy. All pies were premade and they warm it up to order. Our pie came out cold in the middle. The flavors were what you'd expect from peas, carrots and mashed potatoes. Gravy looks rich but not super strong in terms of flavor. Crust was also pretty tasteless overall. Tater tots were hot and chili has beans, tomatoes, peppers, and corn. A nice comfort food. Personally, not a fan. read more

False advertising and dishonest business practices!!! After I paid for my order, I noticed the bill was a few dollars higher than it should be. The receipt has a "Fair wage act" of 5%. This is not the tip, that's a separate item. This is not a government thing as far as I could find. I looked it up and this does not necessarily go to the employees. It goes to the owner who can decide how to distribute it, if at all. I support living wages, but owners should build this in to the price and then pay the employees a living wage. They should not falsify the prices of things and then just charge you more. read more

I visited The Armory for lunch craving just a classic Caesar salad, and this stall seemed to have the best price and size so I decided to try it out. The salad had the perfect amount of dressing tossed with cheese and croutons. My only complaint was how overly seasoned the croutons were- all I could taste was oregano. read more

I first came upon the location in the Armory after getting caught in a light rain (natch) on a Saturday afternoon. It was my first time in Seattle, so cool. Temp and drizzle felt right. Right. But so did my getting a Guinness Irish stew meat patty. When I saw the size compared to the price, I thought oh I'm getting tourist fare... But as I dug in, I really appreciated not only the flavor but the well-made pastry had that nice flake and crunch. I sat at the little bar and enjoyed watching a Philippine Festival That happened to be going on. Later, I met a friend who lives in the area and we toured Pike, and we kept walking along the waterfront and thought about getting a coffee. Coffee. We ducked into a spot that didn't look too touristy and suddenly I realized it was another location. I'm at the owner, who is very sweet and told me all about the business. The woman ringing us up, Annette, was very kind, too. My friend ended up getting the pasties to go (I call those empanadas LOL), And she later told me she really enjoyed them. DECEPTIVE & DISHONEST BUSINESS PRACTICES!! After I paid for my order, I noticed my credit card tap seemed a few dollars higher than it should be. I asked for a receipt, and that's when I noticed that they tacked on a "Seattle Living Wage Fee" of 8%. This is in addition to the tip I selected, the lowest pre-set tier being 18%. This was a) not disclosed on the menu, b) not posted anywhere near the register or payment pad, and c) not discovered until I specifically asked for a receipt. I think there was a button on the payment pad to print a receipt, but I'm not sure, because as soon as I tipped, the cashier flipped the pad immediately back towards her, and did not ask me if I wanted one. I fully support living wages, but you should either build it into your price, or be transparent about it. Shame on you all for being sneaky about this!! read more

The portion size was pretty decent, and the temperature was good. The tots were fresh as opposed to stale like the pie was. But the gravy was so salty that it gave me a massive headache after I had finished maybe 30% of the dish. Hard pass. Red wine Absolutely disgusting. Someone went out on of their way to find the wine that tastes the most like spoiled Welch's and decided to specifically sell that. Went here to grab some food before a Kraken game, it is located in the Armory. The Armory itself was packed with people grabbing food before the game, checking out the Kraken store, or getting into the beer garden to watch the game on the screen. Meat pies was relatively busy, all their seating was taken as if you ordered a drink there you had to stay within their area, which could fit about 20 people. The Armory itself was loud so I had to talk pretty loud to order, we got two of the Combo #2 which comes with a pie of choice and 2 sides of choice. Two groups that ordered after me got their food before me, I'm not sure which item I ordered took longer to prepare than the rest. The food was good for comfort food and all nice and warm! We enjoyed the pies, the chili cheese/poutine tots were the best. The mashed potatoes were smothered in a flavorless gravy and I didn't really like it all so was not a fan of the mashed potatoes in general. The broccoli slaw was also good! I don't like to give 1 stars because I know it can hurt the business but this experience left me paying 25 dollars with no dinner. A friend and I were visiting climate pledge arena and were awaiting our tickets at will call. We ordered a sheppards pie and the hatche chicken pie, with a regular sized poutine tots. We placed our order let the cashier know that we would be back, she said they would be ready in 10 minutes, and went to get our tickets. The cashier was very busy with a steady line. There was her and one other person who was getting the food out. We waited another 20-30 minutes by the pick up area and didn't want to be annoying because we were waiting and they were busy. After 35 minutes, they asked what the name was and it was as if they didn't even have our order! She held up a slip and said what did you have? Oh yeah this is yours, it will be another 10 minutes. Okay, they must be making them fresh! Another 15 minutes and supposedly they are out of pies. They can offer a sheppards pie yet another 10 minutes to finish, and a large tater tot for the wait... Unfortunately they ran out of hatche chicken. Wait. WHAT?! You said that mine had been cooking this whole time... They offered a refund but we weren't about to wait another 50 minutes to get that. We ended up with only one pie, which was luke warm at best, and poutine and a large tater tot we didn't eat. Further, when we were finishing up our table scraps of a meal, we noticed they were closing. MAGICALLY the hot case was full of pies. I don't know if employees get to take home whats left at the night but why didn't my pie ever get cooked? It was beyond disappointing. I will never eat here again. If I was working, I would've noticed the customers who didn't get their order offered a pie or two when they saw us sitting there. I saw them in the case and my mouth was watering. However the taste completely fell short. The pie itself was VERY salty and only had maybe 3 pieces of meat in it. It was sort of like stew in a pie crust. The loaded tots were ok. I have nothing to complain about with them. But also nothing to write home about. Much better location than by the ferries. There's bathrooms here. Whether you need them or not. Had to review because I thought the pies (lamb curry) and sausage roll were pretty good.
