Very expensive and very disappointing. I hired this firm to assess and repair a water leak in a vanity. They charged me $631 just to look at the leak and quote me around $5000 to reconnect the vanity (suggesting that I needed another company to actually do the work). Their 'house call' was really a sales call to promote their business and their associates. Once in my house, their representative harassed me to use other companies that they were associated with. They apparently are very good at 'shilling' (def: A shill, also called a plant or a stooge, is a person who publicly helps an organization without disclosing that they have a close relationship with them). Just look at their reviews on Yelp! and the number of 5-star reviews with only 1 or 2 postings. The also fund a pay-forplay magazine EBSCO Reviews to hype their business These are first rate scammers. My advice: join Angei's List and find a respectable plumber. read more

We are putting a new countertop in our kitchen. The countertop company had a plumber and he came out and took out the sink but would not come back to hook the sink back up because he claims the countertop people took too long. He couldn't wait and wouldn't come back.We were out of kitchen sink, laundry and dishwasher for four days because the companies said that they would send someone else but they didn't show up. We were stuck. We called precision. They came out the technician was very nice but I could not believe the price of just hooking up a sink! I could not recommend this company. We arrived home yesterday to find that the sillcock on the front of the house was leaking. Two years ago it leaked and ruined our finished basement. You can imagine my horror to see it leaking again in two years time.The materials used to replace the sillcock had begun to disintegrate on the inside. Plumbing costs are expensive. When we moved here from Naperville four years ago we needed to find a new service provider for plumbing, heating and cooling. We tried a few and have settled on Precision. As others have mentioned, everyone, from the people that answer the phone to those that show up and do the work, is extremely polite and professional. They confirm and reconfirm the day and time of the appointment and are always on time. They clearly explain the problem and offer multiple solutions to correct the situation. We are big fans and the only reason they did not receive five stars is they can tend to be a tad high in their pricing. read more

Long story short, this winter we had a pipe freeze and the seal broke on a hose to our washing machine. I thought Insurance would cover it so called the first plumber I could find in the yellow pages. They came out and found that all that had to be replaced was the hose that connected the washing machine to the water spout. Thinking my insurance company was going to pay anyway, I told them to go ahead and take care of it. This hose costs about $1 at a hardware store and takes less then 10 minutes to put in. Well my insurance company paid for everything but the replacement of the hose, since it did not "burst." Ended up having to pay precision over $400 for the work they did. Partially my fault for assuming insurance would cover it, but the prices are outrageous. read more

Something they had charged me $500 to fix the previous week. When i threatened to charge them with fraud, which now I regret not doing, they put everything back together. THE WORST THREE HOURS OF OUR LIVES! My wife and I had an HVAC specialist at our house to inspect our furnace, which was having ignition failure. After making a big show for an hour, using every fancy tool he had in his truck and gloating about his 30 years of experience, he said we needed a whole new unit. Our furnace is a 10 year old Lennox! He then started filling our heads with horror stories of broken furnaces leaking carbon monoxide, trying to scare us into buying. He also recommended replacing the AC unit at the same time to "save money". When asked for his opinion, he told us NOT to get a carbon monoxide detector. When we told him we had to think about it, he became frustrated and tried to sell us a finance option. $10,000 equity loan for a new furnace and AC? No thank you! He claimed that he cleaned the igniter, which "doesn't fix the real problem" as he put it and left. Three hours later we finally got him out of our house. I was disappointed with his pushy and unprofessional demeanor. He acted more like a salesman than a HVAC specialist. The next day we had a second specialist, from a different company, visit and got a whole different experience. He pointed out that our furnace can live 15 to 20 years, the igniter cover was missing, and found a tool inside! He also said nothing was cleaned. After cleaning the igniter he recommended a yearly check up on the unit from here on. He was done in under 20 minutes. A wasted afternoon for a specialist who tried to take advantage of a young couple with their first house. Our furnace is missing an igniter cover, but at least we have a tool as a memento of this horrible experience. DO NOT HIRE!!!!!!! read more

I had Precision out for a maintenance check on my AC unit. I was told it needed a complete electrical overhaul and that they only got it to start by bypassing a broken part. I was also told I had a leak and needed it sealed and recharged. I was given a quote of 1100. I received a second opinion the same day. The second opinion was nothing was broke. I called Precision for an explanation and have not heard back. Be careful dealing with these guys. Never again for me. read more

Horrible service -- and communication. We have been trying to get some new Kohler vessel sinks installed to no avail. A week later on the date they scheduled they never made it due to the plumber being called to some "emergency". They came out the next day only to tell us they were only there to estimate and could not schedule until the next week. We gave them model numbers and scope on the original call. And their estimate was $2200 - even though the new sinks are a replacement for sinks installed in a 15 year old home. Avoid this company ! read more

Is it possible to give zero stars? They came out to my mom's house - a home my folks have owned for 44 years - for a sewer blockage. Don and Mike come out for their "$99 special" and stuck a camera in the sewer line. They show all kinds of pictures and then proceed to say that they can't rod the blockage away and that they will need to dig up the front yard and replace the cleanout at a cost of $4,500.00. WTH??!! You can't even TRY rod the sewer line? Oh, and the kicker. By a miracle, their crew can do it tomorrow. You have to be joking. When you sit there in shock, the hard sell comes. You know what I mean. Lucky for me I had the brains to get these guys out the door. I did a little research and called Fred's Plumbing. He came out and rodded the sewer line and his charge....$275. To add insult to injury, I called Precision Plumbing back and wanted to talk to either of the two guys who came out (Don or Mike) - neither were available. I asked for their manager - John - and he wasn't available. Not even a courtesy phone call back. Keep the $99. Running a business like that, you're going to need it. read more

No drainage from our home so we called for help. The tech showed up same day, but he was completely unprepared to work in someone's home. He brought 1 drop cloth (not large, not waterproof). He didn't have anything waterproof to protect carpet, furniture, etc. He didn't have anything to catch the water/waste that would come out when opening a clean-out in someone's basement. He didn't have any towels/rags for cleanup. He refused to help move/protect anything (said he's not allowed to touch any of our stuff). He refused to help with any cleanup. He didn't wear any shoe covers (he's the sewer guy; we know where those boots have been). He used our flashlight, pipe wrench, water-catching bins, and towels since he wasn't prepared with his own. When he opened the clean-out, he created a huge mess (think sewer) that we had to clean and sanitize. The tech's "estimate" of the actual repair bill continued to go up as time passed (although his diagnosis of the problem never changed). The final "quote" was 25% higher than his initial estimate and included a warning that they would kill 2 bushes, trim and possibly kill a tree that might be in their way, and destroy one of the finished walls in our basement (because the access to the drain area that was built in wouldn't be sufficient for them). We used a different company to complete the actual repair. We saved 20% over Precision's last estimate/quote. They removed and replanted 1 bush, but didn't bother the second bush or tree at all. And they worked around the existing interior access so no damage was done to the finished basement. They didn't leave a mess in our home or yard. read more

Is there a rating less than 1 star? Stay away from this company. They installed a backup pump for my basement and did the job improperly. Another plumber (not related to Precision Plumbing) was at my house and saw that the backup was not working. Precision Plumbing came out and replaced the system and said the guy that installed it is not the guy that usually does this. Apparently the second guy did not know what he was doing either because when my primary went out, the pump Precision Plumbing installed did not work. MY ONLY SUGGESTION IS IF YOU BUY A BACK UP PUMP FROM THEM.... MAKE SURE YOU GET A BACK UP TO BACK UP THEIR PUMP..... Ultimate RIP OFF!!!! These guys ripped us off twice (ugh shame on us for not figuring it out sooner). First time - we were only in our first home ever for one month and our sump pump failed in the middle of the night and the back-up did not kick in. Our basement was going to flood, luckily, we made it work until precision could come. We came by them because I was just calling random companies at 3 am to try to get someone to come out. Precision did pick up and did make it to our house by 7 am. That's where the good ends....We had no idea as first time home owners how much things should cost and we were in a pickle as the rain came down and our sump pump was not work. Well, they TOOK ADVANTAGE of that and way way way way OVER CHARGED us, like crazy style. We chalked it up to a learning experience. Next time - wanted our whole house humidifier hooked up. Long story short, again, we got ripped off but didn't really know it. Sucks being a first time home buyer. We basically didn't discover all the rip-offs until the third time. Third time - (we had signed up for their value customer program which means they come service the AC and furnace). They came out to service the AC and told us it was shot - dunzo, we need a new one and our furnace too. Next weekend, another guy came out and gave us a quote. $14,000 for not even the most energy efficient combo. We didn't need the AC or the furnace right away (it was May) so we decide to shop around and that's when discovered how outrageous these people are. We got several other quotes from other companies, all for the most energy efficient with no destruction to our basement ceiling (they told us they would have to rip it apart to vent the new equipment). All the other companies were willing to work with us too on price. So we are loyal (sometimes to a fault) and went back to precision and were like hey all these others companies offer xy&z for the lowest $9,100 (YEA) for the most energy efficient units. THEY WOULD NOT BUDGE FOR US! So we were done - went with an amazing company ACCUMAX! They were great - check them out!!! BOTTOM LINE: BIGGEST SCAM OF A COMPANY EVER - THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF AND ROB YOU BLIND! read more

They told me my heat exchanger was cracked, but it really a $75 plastic part (collector box) and not the heat exchanger. A friend of mine from Barrington referred me to precision. I had them out a few years ago, for a simple ac maintenance, checking and charging and all was good. I then continued to have them come out each summer and winter season to maintain my units for the upcoming season. The work has always been good and the cost fair. I called Precision on a Saturday afternoon after I discovered a leak in our kitchen's drain pipe. I chose Precision because they have an impressive overall positive rating on Google, with a lot of reviews. Precision were prompt and professional, but when they gave me the quote I was completely taken off guard. I needed the drain pipe (cast iron) replaced, and it was in a tricky spot in our crawl space. However the total number was around $1.600 to replace the pipe and for another $600 dollars or so they'd also change the pipe all the way up to the sink (there was a steel pipe going into the cast iron pipe). So total would have been $2,200. The plumber explained the price was straight out of a book and he didn't have much wiggle room. The price was high because of the location of the pipe, which I understood. He did call back in and was able to get a couple hundred bucks knocked off, but still very expensive. I decided I needed another quote, paid $50 and turned down the service. I did get the old "if you call back tomorrow you may not get the same savings offer" and "I guess you can go without a kitchen sink if you need to" comments. I got another quote for the same work for $1,400 less. I hired the other plumber (who did the work that day) and they did a great job. SO ... I can't comment on Precision's quality of service, but their price was way too high. read more

Hi There, I used Precision the first time in the fall of 2014, from a "Top-List" guide I got from moving to a new home. I had a problem with my former residence and new tenants and their bathroom plumbing. For a bit of background, I have my own business with 10 people out in the field all day, every day, and we cannot always guarantee timing due to the variables in the field (weather, traffic, problems with the former client, etc.). I get it. We need to pay attention to whomever needs it to make sure the job is done, and we have 450 clients to serve. While at first we had a snafu with timing and they were not sure they could arrive that day after the appt. was set, I asked that they please try to, as I had taken off of work for this. After a few back and forths, they were on their way--from pretty far, I believe. The plumber, John Deany, was awesome. He was clearly not in this for the "money" and was into helping people and gave me real, expert advice. His motivation was clear, and he was a true professional. I could tell this owner/manager, and his employees, cared. I was completely impressed by the service, but mostly by how they handled everything. I would use them again. My only word of advice would be for the owner to rethink the policy about appointment-making, and that when clients make arrangements to be off work to wait to meet the plumber, they won't be able to reconfigure that easily without a big hassle. This needs to be more concrete. I'm sure systems for this can help and they'd continue their success. I called this company out to my house in 2010 to repair my water heater, which was not heating my water at all. After a $760 bill and a replacement of some parts, they got it working again. Fast forward to 2014, my tankless water heater isn't working again. After a further investigation into the appliance, we discovered that the knobs were broken and they used ELECTRICAL TAPE to hold the plastic together. This was not visible until we recently took the entire front panel off of the unit, which of course I could not see from the work performed by Precision Plumbing. Even though the heater held up for 4 years, this is pretty poor work and certainly not worth $760!! read more

This past weekend was probably one of the WORST possible weekends to have your furnace shut down in the middle of the night. Saturday night we woke up from how cold it was. Finally, I called in at 7:30am after we just couldn't bear it any more...I spoke with Matt, the owner, who promised to send someone immediately. By ten a.m. our issue was fixed, the heat was back on, and playoff football was glorious. I invited the tech to stay and watch the games with us, but he merely tipped his cap and went off to thaw out other Chicagoans like a true hero. I've read other reviews on here that talk about their service, and I'm just floored. Matt made it seem like we were his top priority, and considering we had someone at our front door an hour and a half later, I know he cared. Last Thursday, I called Precision Plumbing to schedule an appointment to have my kitchen faucet repaired. The scheduler could have been nicer. She was incredibly friendly and helpful. See, I'd used them before in 2005 for the exact same service and it was around $150 for the installation because I was providing my own faucet. I asked her if she could give me a ballpark guess on the minimum charge before coming out. She said she couldn't... Looking back, that was a red flag. Desperate to get my faucet installed and having used them before, I went ahead and scheduled the appointment. Fast-forward to Saturday morning... Jerry and his apprentice show up at my home on time - which was great! They were polite, friendly and professional. I show them the faucet and the one I purchased (Moen about $200 from Home Depot.) Jerry looks under the sink while his apprentice took over 30 minutes to complete the estimate on his iPad. The price quotes were outrageous... I was quoted services from $514 to $1,200. All I wanted was my faucet installed. I asked "Why so much?" Jerry said that's the going rates these days... Ridiculous. I realize I could have said "No." However, I was desperate to have use of my kitchen sink, I agreed to have the work done. I called this morning to request a copy of my detailed invoice because I felt I was overcharged and the most I was offered was a $50 credit towards a future service - ah, no thanks. I will not be using them ever again!! Lesson learned: Next time I need a plumber I will do my homework and shop around!! read more

Over priced, plus they do not come to the job prepared( lack of equipment such as a drain camera and they used a non motered auger snake). They couldn't get the drain unclogged and said it was because my pipe was busted and expected me to go along with them when they said they needed to dig my concrete slabb in order to replace it without inspected the drain with a camera. They told me the reason they couldn't inspect my drain with a camera was because my kitchen drain was to small?? Lol ya ok! I went with a more localized Plumber that my neighbors recommended and he was able too get through just fine and even inspected my drain with a camera( I guess my drain is not to small after all.) So precision plumbing charged me $1458 for their incompetence and my new plumber going forward only charged me $350. So make sure to definitely shop around before committing and do not trust the fake 5 star google review, trust Yelp first.. read more

Too expensive! I looked on Angies List first thing in the morning as I needed a plumber to come out and stop the running water in my toilet. They called immediately but it took all day for them to finally arrive early evening after making it sound like they could get there earlier. The technician Davor was very polite and professional. He deserves 5 stars. He fixed the problem. However the cost of replacing the fill valve and shut off valve was way too expensive. I could have bought a new bathroom sink and toilet at the hardware store for that kind of money. read more

They do a bait and switch telling you one thing on the phone and another when they get out to your house. Shame on the owner of this company Why do you want to rip off people.
