Hello, My name is Dan I had the serviceman Chris come out and diagnose my rooftop air conditioner and he found the condenser coil was leaking refrigerant. He suggested that we put in a new condenser coil and he scheduled the appointment the following Friday. Previous to Elemental ac visit what had caused the leak was that are condomonium building roof was replaced and the roofing people had thrown the ac units around and had stacked them on one another also. My unit was repair by Donaly Roofing Ac service person and then starting leaking a year later. I had another Ac company that charged the unit with refrigerant and quoted me a price on replacing the condenser? I then called Elemental HVAC and this company only charged $85 dollars for a service fee. On the following scheduled Friday Chris came to my building along with another Elemental Hvac name of Jose both of who are genuinely nice people. They pleasantly replaced the ac condenser coil and my inside unit receiver dryer. They ran nitrogen to brazed the ac lines / They even used a micron meter which tells you have much moisture in the unit is being pulled out. The reason I now these terms I went to Triton college in 1975 while working as a union maintenance electrician and went on ac jobs in the hospital I was working for. I voluntarily brought them varous gatorades. At one time Chris diagnose a defected electrical contactor and Jose went to an open HVAC company to purchase the device nearby and did not give me an extra charge for the eletrical contactor they had installed and charged the unit with with 410a refrigerant. I paid them and gave them some more gatorade and they thank me. Chris wrote up the bill with one year warranty on the condenser coil. When I went to move to this condo some years back I found my hvac unit was on its last legs it took two years of hvac servicemen coming out and looking at the job and not coming back. I think a lot of hvac people want the easy jobs where they do not have to go up on a roof and work. By the way Elemental Heating and Cooling was 1,500 dollars cheaper then the previous hvac company that came out to my building. read more

A technician for one of the big Chicagoland HVAC repair companies identified the problem with our forced-air heating furnace as a worn-out ignition control panel -- the "motherboard" for the HVAC electronics. His quote for how much it would cost to replace seemed high, upwards of a grand; I put out a request on Yelp describing in specifics that the panel needed to be replaced. Chris at Elemental was the only one who actually replied with a quote -- more than 40% lower than the first estimate. Three other companies would only suggest I call them, and at least one of them was likely an automated reply. So hiring Chris was a no-brainer. He came to the house twice to work on the furnace, replacing the control panel and cleaning and restoring some of the wiring. Elemental responded to my request for an appointment within minutes and was able to get me in the next day for an appointment although I was skeptical how good the experience would be as they only had 2 Yelp reviews. However, the tech got the heat temporarily working and came back the following day with the needed part for a permanent fix. I felt they were honest, reasonably priced, reliable and good communicators. Most importantly I felt they didn't try to upsell me on crap I didn't need and didn't try to cheat me because I'm a woman; which unfortunately I run across a lot dealing with service companies. I changed a few things in order to compare quotes correctly-and never heard anything negative. I was very particular spending such a large amount of money-but each and every thing I asked was answered. The original young man that gave me the estimate, I believe, saved me a lot of headaches, guiding me toward getting a heat pump instead of replacing my heat and AC. I did more research and ended up with 4 estimates-(3 others for basic AC and furnaces) and their price was right in line with the lowest I had near me. The BIG guys were like railroad robbery! Elemental Air did a phenomenal job of finally resolving a longstanding problem we had with our upstairs a/c unit, in that it would routinely stop working during the hottest days, sending our inside temperatures soaring to 80 degrees or higher. Each time I contacted them, they were able to come by and evaluate the situation either that same day or the very next day, and was the only one able to find a permanent fix for the previous incorrect installs done by other companies. Chris was wonderful each time he was here, friendly and easy to talk to, and listened to what I had to say about the problems I was noticing (something other techs haven't always done in the past), and was able to quickly figure out the specific piece of equipment that was causing the issue, and then devise a test solution to get our upstairs area cool again. I'm happy to report that I'm sitting here writing this with cool air flowing once again and everything finally working as it should, all thanks to Elemental Air. My only wish is that they had initially installed the system, but I sure am glad to have found them to fix what the first and second contractors goofed up.
