Booked early this morning for a same-day plumbing emergency. We have an exploded pipe, water leaking, mold - and a newborn at the house with bottles to clean and sterilize. Checked in around 2:30pm since nobody ever showed. Was assured the tech was on the way. Then received a call after 4pm that they ran out of time and would need to reschedule us for 2 DAYS FROM NOW AT THE EARLIEST. Wild experience. We could have (and would have) hired another company for this emergency instead of waiting around all day just for nobody to show. read more

Needed to clear a clog in the main line. The toilet was backing up and overflowing from underneath the toilet. They had 2 different people come out. They said they cleared the line. The tenant notified me that they broke the cover to the tank of the toilet. And, less than a week later, the line is clogged again. Called to get them back out to clear the line and replace the tank cover. They texted that someone would arrive in the afternoon. No one ever showed. And now they tell me that they will have to charge me to have someone come out. No apologies for the no show. No resolution to the damage to the toilet. I've done tons of work with the old company 5 Star heating and air...and now they are run by Precision Today. The techs are good, the company is horribly run. They cancelled multiple maintenance appointments (over 2 years) for annual heat and a/c check ups. Makes no sense to have an a/c check from June moved to September with no other availability UNLESS your system crashes. So then, they can certainly get out right away and fix it or sell you a new system. Anyway, when you finally get an appointment, they won't give an estimated time, instead they say it's a "fluid schedule" for some time that day. They will call you when a tech is on the way. Seriously? Who can just sit around all day, unless you happen to work from home. I just can't wait for my warranties to end so I can get a new company that staffs properly, allows normal time window scheduling (8am-12, 10am-4pm, etc) and actually cares about their customers. read more

Bad company, overpriced, and they never completed the job. DO NOT use them. We paid $14,000 for a major electrical project. The company was supposed to complete the final permit process but failed to do so. After they were paid, they stopped returning calls and responding to messages. I called the electrician, Nick Kresic, multiple times and contacted the company repeatedly, but no one ever called back. I eventually had to contact the village myself to find out what was happening. The village even commented that they never seen such a delay from an electrical contractor. Before they got our money, they were responsive and helpful. After payment, they disappeared. Extremely unprofessional, irresponsible, and disappointing. I would never use them again. Due to the company's lack of communication and failure to complete the permit process, I will be filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and the Illinois Attorney General's Office. read more

Major problems with customer service and communication. We received a quote and paid a deposit for an A/C repair, after our unit took tree damage in a major storm. We did not receive a copy of the contract by email as we were supposed to, and did not hear anything back for several weeks. Phone calls to Precision were answered by AI. When we eventually got to a human, we were told that they were "at the mercy of the supplier" as to when they would receive the parts. (Parts were special order, but we had not been warned of that when signing the contract.) We were repeatedly told that someone would call us back in 24-48 hours, but then did not receive a call back and had to follow up ourselves. Finally after over a month of delays, we were told the parts were in, and they scheduled a day for the service. However, when the technician arrived, he said he'd discovered that one of the parts had been ordered incorrectly. At that time, he also told us that the original order had been lost and was not in the system when he checked on it a few weeks after his initial visit to our home, contributing to the delay. This is information that of course had never been communicated to us in our many calls to the office. While the mistake may or may not have been on the part of the supplier, good customer service by Precision would have dictated prompt and honest communication, rather than putting us off and not returning calls. At this point we were in the middle of a heat emergency in our area, so the technician did loan us two portable A/C units to help make our kids' bedrooms bearable. However, he did not have the hoses to connect them to the windows, and assured us they would work just fine without. Of course they do not, and we had to pressure Precision to send someone back out that evening with the hoses. The correct part finally came in and the unit was repaired close to two months after our initial call. We again did not receive an email receipt, and had to contact the office to request it. It also took another week for them to send someone to retrieve the portable units. Overall, while we did eventually get the repair that we needed, the customer service we received was extremely poor, and contributed to an already stressful situation. read more

A technician came to fix my two year old a/c. The charge was $1500. After I signed papers for him to do the work, he finished the job by saying the problem was likely unfixed and it would cost me thousands of dollars more than what he initially said. My a/c worked that night but was out again less than 24 hours later. I called in a different HVAC company & their diagnosis revealed three problems the PT tech missed, but the a/c got fixed. When I called PT and informed them, they offered a $250 refund; I reminded them of their commercial where they advertise a $500 refund if you are unhappy with their service, but I was told that the offer only applied to "certain situations." read more

Technician came in and quoted me a minimum of $1500 on a new board at a minimum and recommended a $10,000 new furnace. Called for a second opinion who was able to fix the issue on the board in 5 minutes. Checked the furnace, and said it should run for another 5-10 years. read more

I get text messages confirming an appointment and if I have any questions "Please reply back with any questions or updates" The secretary that mans the phone (I think Michelle) admitted no one watches or replies. Pretty aggressive, ... tell them you want to move forward and theyd will make make appointments for install before even signing the contract or paying! and immediatly ask to confirm. Despite an included service program membership alongside the warranty, I now write this review with my 4-month old air-conditioning down for over 36 hours, chasing a service appointment that's been pushed twice, now to 6-9pm on Sunday. I have no faith I will see a technician today. Absolutely terrible customer service, they are incapable of showing up on time for appointments--or communicating around delays and reschedules. Now, I scheduled an appointment for the annual inspection and to check the AC due to a lack of cooling. The appointment was made through their on line AI system. This is the weirdest company I have encountered. Their pricing they say is a " flat rate." The only flat rate pricing I know Is the post office various way of mailing mail the fastest time. Their schedule is the worst ever. Not even a block schedule like i.e. between 1-5PM etc, their's is "on the fly schedule" and very proud of saying it. Very professional service. Steve was the name of the person who worked on our house today. He replaced our broken pipes and got our heater working again. Checked various places in and outside of the home ...heater, gas, stove. My mom, the homeowner, said that he did a good job and gave us a fair price. She was relieved to find out that our whole heater did not need to be replaced. We are very grateful to have our heat working again! I have called 5 times now to have my humidifier replaced over the past 4 weeks after a technician came out and confirmed it needed to be replaced. Every time I call, no one can give me an update or ETA for replacement and indicates someone will call back. No one has called back any of these times - the company has just lost all my HVAC business after being a loyal customer for 10+ years with Freedom. read more

So we got an estimate for a new humidifier unit from Precision/AWE for $1300+. It turns out that all we really needed was a new solenoid for around $250. What's more, it sounds like AI is responding to these reviews. The response said they have not record of our account. They had no problem charging us for the monthly service contract. I would give a zero star rating if possible. Precision Today recently "partnered" (i.e. bought out) with my long-time, excellent HVAC company (Freedom Air & Heating) in Franklin Park. I'd already signed up with Freedom for my annual furnace check, so Precision came instead. My Lennox furnace is 9 years old and has been regularly maintained and checked since its purchase. Was VERY surprised to hear from Precision that my furnace needed $3,000 of repairs. Suggestion was replacement with Trane (they don't sell Lennox). Gave me 3 quotes: $7341, $8377 and $11,555. Had 2 reputable, BBB rated companies THOROUGHLY inspect furnace without knowledge of Precision's recommendations. Both said is was fine. Proactively replaced a $69 part. That's all. My wife and I paid over $13,000.00 for a Trane 3 ton central air conditioner (replacement - no duct work). Upon reviewing Trane websites for this particular unit, we discovered that the typical price for this unit falls between $4,500.00 and $9,000.00. This would include equipment, labor, refrigerant, piping, electrical connections, permits, and disposal of old unit. Labor& materials needs vary by home size, existing ductwork, and local codes. I didn't get price quotes because there was an urgency to install the replacement unit due to the fact that the evaporator coils on the old air conditioning unit were leaking on the furnace heat exchanger which if left unattended, could void the warranty on the furnace. As a long-standing customer of Precision Today (formerly AWE) for over 18 years, I thought I deserved a better resolution rather than being told that nothing could be done unless I submitted quotes on this Trane unit from certified contractors. Who has the time for that? Why didn't the manager I talked to put any credibility into my research? My advice? Do your homework if you're contemplating a major purchase. read more

They bought an HVAC company we liked and used for years. Told us we now qualified for a free plumbing inspection!!! Wouldn't you know it, they found tons of problems in our (perfectly functioning) system (including the work the company they purchased had doneI. I called about having them replace a back-up sump pump battery ( I had been having difficulty finding a replacement). The guy on the phone immediately wanted to talk about the age of my hot water heater. Said he was "just doing his job." They came today and quoted me $500 to install the battery but doubted that they could find one that was compatible. They recommended $3,000 and $4,000 options to replace my whole system. I gave the guy a harder time than I should have... In any case, I did my homework and was able to find the battery I needed for $175. Problem fixed. read more

I previously used Five Star Heating to service my HVAC system. They were great. Unfortunately, the owner retired and sold the company to Precision Today. Precision Today has proven to be unreliable. My first experience was last fall. In the first week of November, I called to schedule my annual furnace inspection/tune-up. The earliest available date they had was after Christmas! So, I called Ibbotson and had my furnace service done ten days later. Over the following several months, I received multiple unsolicited e-mail messages from Precision Today touting their services. So, I decided to try Precision Today for my spring Air Conditioning maintenance. About ten days ago, I scheduled an appointment for today, although they would not commit to any specific time period. On Friday, they sent me a text message requesting that I confirm my availability for the appointment, which I did confirm. After waiting all morning today for a technician to arrive, I received a phone call shortly before noon informing me that a technician would not be coming today and requested that I reschedule. I chose to cancel instead. This experience reminded me of the Seinfeld episode with the rental car company in which Jerry tells the rental car representative "I don't think you know how reservations work. You know how to TAKE the reservations, you just don't know how to HOLD the reservations." Perhaps someone in management at Precision Today previously worked at a rental car company! It looks like Ibbotson will be getting all of my HVAC work in the future. I suggest that anyone considering Precision Today choose a different HVAC contractor. read more

This company sells you a product and then sells the "premium customer package" guaranteeing they will come out ASAP when you call. Then you call them because your AC stops working and they GHOST you. NO CALL BACK. So you call again.... "Oh sorry, the dispatcher is in a meeting and will call as soon as they are done." NOPE. Fast forward FOUR days with NO AC and NO CALL!! I have had this company do work in my home a on couple previous jobs. The work was done very well, The technicians were courteous. My only problem is that their pricing is getting ridiculous. They wanted $1800 to swap out a simple sump pump. A job I could have done for $300 tops. I really liked Five Star before they were bought out by Precision. I knew the repair guys and they all did good work and when I bought a furnace or central AC the sales people were knowledgeable about the product lines. Precision seems more focused on selling even on routine maintenance. And the pricing is a little questionable. I think 20 years of service with Five Star didn't prepare me well for the Precision business model. I no longer use Precision and have found another HVAC and plumber. read more

This seems to be some kind of shell company that absorbs local HVAC companies and handles all calls via a central call center. As such, they have no accountability to any of their customers, since it's the local operator, not themselves that is responsible for the work. This makes it frustrating to deal with them when you have a problem, since all they can do is route your call to the local operator and hope that the local operator calls you back. For this reason alone, I'd stay away from this company. If you have the option to choose someone that's owned and operated locally - take it! This company installed a new furnace in our house. Everything seemed to be working until the temperature dropped, at which point our furnace stopped working. Getting someone to come out and look at it has been a series of putting in calls to the call center and then hoping someone will call back. Not the best experience. read more
