Don installed a new sump pump system for us. He communicated very well before and during. He was on time and I feel like they did good work.

I joke that Yelp is my little food blog sometimes because I will forget that I've been to places and check out reviews only to see my own. This wasn't quite the same. I remember using D. E. Mathieu a few years back. I was a fool and forgot to remove the hoses from the spigots before the freeze. The pipe burst and sprayed water all over my basement. The good news is, it only occurred when we tried to use the spigot. I couldn't remember who I used but then I remember I wrote a review on yelp. I called them back up and he came out the next day. He fixed the one bib and then graciously adjusted one of the washers on the other because the seal had gotten loose. He told us nicely to make sure we remove the hoses. I'm pretty sure I won't forget next time! read more

Don is great to work with and has officially become my go-to for all things plumbing. He replaced my sump pump system with a battery backup, and I couldn't be happier with the results. He is highly responsive, provides fair pricing, and takes a thoughtful approach to his work. I especially appreciated that he suggested a consultation as the first step in the process before providing an estimate. Other plumbers I talked to just sent over generic quotes without much effort. read more

Excellent plumbing company, service the way it used to be. They have replaced our sump pumps, including resealing the pit from a previous radon remediation. They replaced our water heater, as well as a small job. Showed up on time, they put down drop cloths to not make a mess, and very reasonable prices. He knows his business, the bill was exactly what he said it would be. read more

They did and great job and were on time. They were on time and completed in a timely manner.

Have had them come out twice. First time to replace a faucet on the side of my house. Second time was to replace piping under a bathtub. Did an excellent job each time and prices are reasonable. They are my go to Plumber. read more

Got several quotes for toilet repair. Felt best about quote from Don because he avtually asked questions about the issue including some specifics about the internals of the toilet. Estimate was 1/2 of some others. Work was done quickly and paid exactly what was estimated. Highly recommend. read more

Sent out a Yelp RFP to replace two (2) hot water heaters and Don answered the call that night and replaced the very next day. On time and on budget! Thanks read more

Don was fantastic. He was responsive and accommodating. His prices are more than fair for the quality of work. We purchased a new water softener and kitchen water filter and we are so pleased with the result. Virtually no downtime from start to finish, and Don took the time to explain everything to this rookie water softener user. I would not only recommend D. Mathieu to anyone, but I will also be calling on him when it's time for the next remodeling project. Thanks Don, you're one of a kind. Keep up the amazing work!! read more

Called Don at 11am and he figured out to get here today by 2pm to fix my leaking water heater. What a relief! Responsive & reliable workmanship. Thanks Don & Andy! read more

While, fortunately, it was not an emergency, we did need to have our hot water heater replaced. I called around to get several quotes. While D.E. Mathieu was not the cheapest, they had quite a few very good reviews and quoted a fair and reasonable price. They were prompt, replaced the water heater, and cleaned up afterwards. Would recommend. read more

Very responsive to quote requests. I sent a quote request late at night and the owner responded very quickly and said he could be at my house the next morning! And at a reasonable price. Unfortunately or fortunately I managed to fix the issue myself shortly after making the appointment and had to cancel on him, but I will be saving his info for the future! read more

Great quality & fair price. Excellent service and support. Highly recommend. Assisted my elderly parents navigate a challenging combination of sump pump, water softener, water heater and well water issues. Very satisfied. read more

With not much experience with plumbers I was hoping for honesty, quality and a fair price (as with all services). Mr. Mathieu responded to my quote request in less than 10 minutes, gave me a reasonable quote (not the cheapest and not the most expensive) and told me what time to expect him the next day. I think I should probably set my watch to him as he came by exactly when he said he would. He worked quickly, cleanly and took care of our issue before we could blink. He also came well under his initial quote. This is a local business which I am always more inclined to support. Highly recommend D E Mathieu Plumbing. read more

We found this company through yelp and the great comments about Don and DE Mathieu made us decide to ask their help! All the great comments are true and Don is a very responsible, honest, experienced, respectful, and kind plumber. They charged very reasonable money and the price made me smile! We found the perfect plumber. Thank you Don! We will definitely ask for their help again! I also highly recommend this company! read more

Don helped us out twice in one week. He is extremely pleasant to talk to and is very responsive to calls and texts. Both times he came to our house, he was there within hours and exactly at the time he said he'd be there. The additional gentlemen that was working with him was great as well. They'll be our first call next time we have a plumbing need. read more

Don responded to a call for an ejector pump issue. He came out a few days later as scheduled, texted me to let me know his arrival time, and replaced our pump quickly and got everything working again. We've had him out to unclog a kitchen sink line, and recently he installed a backup sump pump for us. At each visit he lets me know when he's coming and shows up on time. His prices are fair, his communication is great, and he is a really nice guy. I'm not looking forward to our next plumbing issue, but when it happens, I've got Don on speed dial. read more

Don came out to do a consult very promptly after we first reached out. I was solely looking for a backup battery install on our sump pump. He quickly pointed out that our pump was in need of replacement (age and knowing the model). He recommended what I thought was a very fair and the right solution for our sized basement and needs. He also took care of our two toilets that needed valve replacements. Would recommend him to anyone I know in the area with any plumbing questions or issues. Will contact him for all our questions or issues in the future. read more

Don responded quickly and was able to deduce a relatively complicated situation that was causing our shower cartridges to clog up. He provided a fair estimate and took care of the situation prompted. We also found some other issues that Don took care of quickly on a subsequent trip. Don was easy to work with and knows his stuff. We'll definitely be using D E Mathieu going forward. read more

Had 2 toilet repairs and one outside faucet replacement due to frozen pipe issue this past winter. Neat and efficient service, fair and accurate pricing, pointed out possible future problems with suggestions on how to minimize/ prevent going forward. Extremely pleasant and will definitely hire them in future!! I highly recommend this company! Thank you D E Mathieu Plumbing! read more

One of the most reliable and honest plumbers in the business! I reached out because my master bath water spout was dripping, which drove me nuts. I sent him a picture and he gave me a fair estimate. He was able to inspect it first hand and advised that I needed a new handle, which would take a couple weeks to order. The part came in last week, and would've had it installed last week but I was out of town. It was installed today in less than an hour. And no more dripping! I'll definitely reach out to him for future projects! read more

Don Mathieu and his son just left and I didn't want to wait another minute to write this review! After reaching out to him this morning as we suddenly realized we had no hot water from our 10+ years old heater, to a newly-installed water heater by 2pm, our experience with Don was outstanding every step of the way. His responsiveness was great (even to all our questions), with a comprehensive, no-suprises quote, and fair price. And the workmanship was excellent! D E Mathieu gets our two-thumbs-up recommendation, for sure! read more

I called and spoke with a man who asked that I text him the details and he would check his schedule and let me know. He said he was booked for the next month. I advised this was fine as my BBQ install with the natural gas line in the house was not urgent, however, 48 hours later and nobody has reached out to me to schedule anything. read more

Very friendly and reasonably priced. We had to get our gas line moved for our new stove and Don was able to come out sooner that expected. Professional and quality work. Will definitely call him again for any future projects we may have. read more

I have an older home and I was extremely pleased with Don and Andy's work when fixing my pipes under my sink. They are punctual, courteous, honest and priced my job fairly. I ran into issues after the job was done and they came back out the following day and fixed the new issues that came up. If you have an older home( my house was built in 52)) and want a plumber with experience... need I say more. I will definitely use D E Matthieu from now on for all my plumbing needs. read more

From my first contact with Don until he finished the job and left, we were extremely pleased with him. We had been looking for a reliable plumber for quite some time and after hiring some "losers" we finally found Don. He is honest and trustworthy. His knowledge is great. Excellent! Don is honest, timely, and fair-priced. He responded quickly to my inquiry, provided me a fair quote, was able to come out same-day, and even arrived right on time! He is experienced knowledgeable. I had an outdoor faucet explode when I used it for the first time in spring. He replaced the faucet, cleaned up after he was finished, and even replaced my soaked insulation and patched the drywall. I didn't expect that! I've read most plumbers refer you to someone else to repair walls. I am very happy with his work and will definitely enlist his services in the future. read more

Don is great! Our company was having an issue with brown water and he came out, diagnosed the problem and recommended a solution at a very reasonable price. I will be keeping his name in my phone for home plumbing issues because he is so honest and fair. I would like to add, I called for multiple bids and he is the ONLY plumber in Warrenville that even bothered to call back. He came out that day and fixed the problem right away.
