I booked an appointment based on my neighbors recommendations. Upon arrival, he went into my crawl space to shut the water off and found a tree stand in there! We have hired Paul a couple of times now, and could not be happier with the experiences. He is an exceptionally talented plumber whose four decades in both the commercial and residential side clearly show in his work. For example, in our last appointment (May 2025), Paul swapped out both a water heater and a kitchen faucet, and installed a new hot water valve. The entire work was done in about 65 minutes too, and that included draining the tank, a courtesy wipe-down, and helpful advice. Nor is this a hastily done effort... he's just that efficient. Another job involved an emergency over a burst pipe connecting to a hose spigot during the winter. He raced over here, diagnosed the situation quickly, and charged us for a simple house call... no emergency surcharge, no overtime, or anything. He simply asked we consider him for the next project, which we sure did. His prices are also very, very fair. Paul could easily bill 75% or more and still have plenty of work--and still be worth every penny because he can knock out projects in one trip and half the time of others--but Paul clearly enjoys helping people and takes pride in providing value for his customers. He's also just a fun person to shoot the breeze with. If you need a plumber in the Naperville/Wheaton area or thereabouts, definitely give him a call, at least for a quote. If it's close to the other guys (it will probably be significantly lower than most, but not the lowest), just don't hesitate and use him instead of the others. Paul was very thorough and friendly he diagnosed the problem with the piping under the sink and corrected the remodelers mistake right away he noticed the garbage disposal was not locked in position allowing it to vibrate every-time we used it. Wow, things were really crazy the past 24 hours, my husband found out he needed surgery, my son fell and ended up in the hospital, and I had a funeral of a friend to attend. My dad discovered that our sump pump was leaking yesterday; however, he decided to monitor for one day instead of calling a plumber right away... So of course, it looked worse today and I start panicking... I called around and was so glad that Paul is available today. Paul was professional and responsive. We have two sump pumps and I always thought they were both working, but Paul discovered that the second pump was broken. Since he carries new pumps in his truck, Paul was able to replace our broken pump right away. I got three bids to replace my hot water heater. Paul was right in the middle. His new unit was also 4 inches shorter than my existing unit, and I wanted a shorter tank to have more angle on the exhaust. He responded quickly to my inquiry, and had an opening the next day. My thermocouple went bad, and we had no hot water. (I could not buy an exact replacement, and you dont want to "jury rig" that part, IMHO.) Paul showed up on time as promised and had the new heater installed pretty fast. We had a flexible gas connector on the old one, and Paul had to replace that with solid gas pipe to meet code. Paul is simply the real deal plumber. I hope I never see him again because I do not want to have any plumbing issues. BUT if I do, I am glad that I now have a go-to plumber who knows his stuff, is trustworthy and won't charge up the wazoo! About two weeks ago, our kitchen sink would not drain. My husband tried his best to get it unclogged but to no avail. To top it off, he noticed a leak under the sink. All great timing since we were expecting company for the weekend. I think this is my third review of Paul. We started using his services a few years ago, and have been using and recommending him ever since. This time he replaced our aging 50 gallon water tank with a new hi-efficiency model. He also repositioned the gas line leading to our fireplace. In both cases the prior installation had been done very poorly. Now it is beautiful. Here's a typical Paul story. The day before he was scheduled to do the install of our new water tank, our daughter called in a panic as she had water all over her basement and didn't know who to call. I texted Paul and he immediately got back to me. He was just finishing up a job but said he'd stop by to at least check it out. In the time I expected him to be calling me back to ask for the address again (which he never does because he always gets it right), he called me to let me know he'd finished. He figured out that the water in the discharge hose outside had frozen and blocked the water which caused the motor to burn out. He replaced the sump, fixed the pipe and repositioned some other piping which had been misaligned. He didn't charge for the extras. That made us even happier customers. Reasons to use Paul: 1. Quality work - the guy is a real pro. He knows what he's doing. Works quickly and efficiently. Doesn't hang around to tell you long stories. He's always got another job waiting. 2. Quick responses. Most everything is by text at first, and that's good. He's always been great about getting back to us asap. I woke up this morning to water running out of the cupboard under my sink onto the floor. I opened the cupboards to find a leak. I called Paul and through our conversation and a few photos, we were able to figure out we needed a new faucet. He said he could come by tomorrow but ended up calling a couple hours later cause he happened to be in the neighborhood. Had water running down into my basement from a first-floor wall Sunday night. I had to shut the water off. So it was an emergency Monday morning. I was preparing to get gouged by a plumber. EMERGENCY. Called Paul after a referral from another company that could not accommodate the emergency. Paul had someone out within 2.5 hours. ASSESSMENT. Paul's plumber found the cause of the problem. The cause of the water was the pipe to the laundry room utility sink that was coming loose behind the wall. PRICING. Gouged? Absolutely not!! Paul was upfront on what the cost would be. They charge by the hour. The plumber fixed everything within an hour. The rate was reasonable. CLEAN UP. We were happy with the care Paul's plumber took to clean up the work area. No additional cleaning up was needed. EXTRAS. I had the plumber replace the shutoff valves for just the cost of parts, as they charge labor by the hour. Heck...
